Returning to its former self

For a long time, I've been touting this hotel as the best hotel on the bay, and I still stand by that statement.
After Hurricane Otis, this hotel, like all the others, was thoroughly destroyed. Approximately 10 of the floors have been restored to full service, and the following 7 will be completed within this calendar year.
While tourism isn't what it has been prior to the storm, it is making its way back. The pool is brand new and just wonderful. The staff from the maids to the waiters and waitresses have all returned. Some have been there for over 30 years. It was nice to see.
The rooms are as they have always been. Very comfortable beds and immaculately cleaned every day. The views of the bay are just stunning.
The pool staff, especially Angeles Zaratechavarria, is very friendly and always on top of her job as she has been for years.
Julio will be missed by the long-time visitors to this hotel but it was nice seeing Saul around the pool.
The front desk is always very helpful and fully staffed, and Mauricio Solis is very accommodating if a guest has any special needs.
The food is terrific. The breakfast buffet is excellent, as are the menu options. The pool options offer a variety either at your chair or dining area, and it's great. The drinks are not quite as strong as in the past, IMO.
I still have a few days left but can not wait to extend my days in 2026. This is the hotel to visit when planning Acapulco.

Pool under construction in May. Horrors!
The hotel is located great, downtown. Easily walkable to so many places. Check-in was slow but the staff were helpful. Internet included on site. The rooms are dated but very spacious. The furniture is old. The balcony is a wrap-around but has a strange high wall blocking any view. :(...

The rooms are dated but very spacious. The furniture is old. The balcony is a wrap-around but has a strange high wall blocking any view. :(
We had a 3 bedroom, all rooms nicely appointed with soap, shampoo, mouthwash, toothpaste etc. Plenty of towels, hot water etc. Master bedroom ensuite very large with 2 sinks, jacuzzi and shower.
Nice kitchen with 4 burners, a refrigerator, and a Pod coffee pot which I am not fond of so we bought a small regular one at Soriana's as they had no regular coffee makers at the hotel. They supplied plenty of bottled water daily and you could ask for more. The living room was kind of crowded with dated furniture. Dining room sufficient. Overall decent to good room, comfy beds, and pillows are good as well.
We had a great time but. We were on the side of the hotel with no sunset views. Bummer.
What would make me probably not return was that the main pool was under construction! Upon arrival they stated maintenance, but it was major construction of more than 3/4 of that pool. The remaining areas were kiddie height. What do we do on vacation when it is in the 100-degree F temps, all day? Lounge by the pool. None of that was happening. We did use lounge chairs on a level but no pool time. Service by the pool was incredibly slow. The lower pool by the ocean was filled with children and completely cloudy, I was not putting my toe in that.
The ocean was beautiful but not swimmable due to rouge waves and very rough surf.
The manager offered us a percentage off food & drinks bought at the resort due to the pool issue. Sounded okay upon check-in but alas we did not eat or drink there much and most times never got the discount.
We had great meals in Acapulco, did some great tours and just really liked Acapulco. Felt very safe and welcomed in this area.
The pool being out of commission really ruined the vacation for us all.
We will return to Acapulco but not this hotel as we were not told of this problem ahead of time by the resort or our exchange company. We would never book a resort in May in Mexico without full pool access.

Staff was wonderful. Breakfast was loaded with options and very good. Facilities were great. Pool/beach areas were great. Highly recommend this hotel. It is also within walking distance of a great deal of restaurants. Will definitely return here. Housekeeping is great as well. Very clean, etc.
The staff are THE best part about this place. Every single staff we encountered were super helpful, nice & hard working. The facility was super clean. The view was the second best thing. Amazing view right from 1 of our two balconies. The facility is dated, the showers are difficult...
The staff are THE best part about this place. Every single staff we encountered were super helpful, nice & hard working. The facility was super clean. The view was the second best thing. Amazing view right from 1 of our two balconies. The facility is dated, the showers are difficult to get in & out of. Definitely not friendly for handicapped or older people that have trouble with balance, knees, or hips.
Problems?
1 - the noise is constant. The honking cars, which many times is unnecessary & constant by about every bus. The music on 2 nights went til 4 a.m. & it's the kind of music that you feel thumping. On Sunday it never ended, went straight into Monday morning. Ugh.
2 - there was an occasional sewer odor that eminated through the ac into the room. It was so foul.
3 - if you speak/understand no Spanish, well neither does most of the staff.
4 - When we booked our stay there was no mention of a main pool closure. Come to find out the closure had been planned at the beginning of the year but they didn't want to deter tourists.
Nevertheless, we enjoyed our time in Acapulco.

This is a review of just one parameter. We wanted to stay there because of this hotel’s high ranking and central location and we’re very sad that the place was completely booked. We booked another good hotel (I will post my review later). Today we took a tour of town and drove by Fiesta. I cannot comment on anything because we did not stay there, but central location in this case is a disadvantage. There are no good sidewalks, lots of construction and trash everywhere. It is not something we want to see. Especially on vacation.
