This hotel is situated on the most beautiful beach with the most idyllic views. When we arrived at BGI, we were greeted by a Fairmont rep, who guided us through Fast Track, which was a real bonus! This was included in our room rate. On arrival (3.30pm) we were told our room wasn’t ready and we had to wait about half an hour. Once in our room, the first thing we noticed was the stunning view. We were in room 317, which was a Signature Oceanfront Room. It was light and spacious with an extremely comfortable bed. Mirrors were in right places (so many hotels seem to get this wrong). There was a Nespresso coffee machine, a selection of teas and water. For some reason, the mini bar was empty and not switched on. The bathroom was spacious with a bath and separate shower cubicle and there was also a hairdryer. Breakfast wasn’t the best and seemed really disorganised. Considering the hotel is rated 5*, this was one of the areas we felt let the hotel down. Most mornings we would have to wait to be shown to a table and there was rarely anyone there to actually greet you. You can order eggs but the system is quite chaotic. My eggs were forgotten one morning and when I did receive them, they were undercooked. A five star hotel should take your order from your table, not expect you to have to go and ask. The other area we felt let the hotel down, was the inconsistency of the beach staff. For two days, there was a lovely lady who was really attentive but for the other six, I had to go to the bar to order drinks. The beach is absolutely stunning and quite wide for the West Coast. We only really ate lunch at the hotel as I had booked several restaurants prior to our arrival. However the food was good, if expensive but it’s expensive. There are a few restaurants in walking distance such as Lonestar, Jumas and SeaCat. On our last day, we didn’t expect to be offered a room to freshen up in so we’re surprised when we were offered this when we checked out of our room. This was very much appreciated! Overall, we had a fantastic holiday but felt the hotel lacked certain aspects of a five star. It’s also quite dated and could do with updating.

Our stay at the Fairmont Royal Pavillion could not have been better! We arrived at the airport and had previously arranged through the hotel a transfer to the hotel. We were met promptly as we entered the terminal and escorted quickly through immigration to our vehicle. Our driver, Ronaldo, drove us to the hotel in his new BMW 5 series. At the hotel we were met and went to our beautiful room (#332) overlooking the water. Everything in the room was perfect. During our five-day stay the hotel staff was always attentive. Our room was refreshed every morning and evening including more water bottles, coffee etc. The hotel and hotel grounds were in near perfect condition. On the beautiful beach, the chaises and cushions were either new or near new and there was never a problem getting a comfy spot for the two of us on the beach under an umbrella with plenty of nice, fluffy towels. The staff was remarkable. Our waitress Teresa, dining hostess Sabrina, beach waitress Nicole, and lunch time waiter Seth all made the visit effortless. In addition, Khadijah did a wonderful job for us arranging a rental car to be dropped off at the hotel, golf at the Royal Westmoreland Golf Course, as well as suggestions on sites to visit during our stay. Breakfast each morning had everything you could want (and more) and dining at Taboras and the Palm Terrace Restaurant left no reason to eat anywhere else. Oh yes, there was music at Taboras and in the main bar each night. We were glad the dock out in the water survived the hurricane as we enjoyed swimming to it often. Ours was a wonderful vacation here that was topped off by seeing a few monkeys skittering about the grounds. Well worth the stay!

We love the fairmont and have been many times a lovely hotel located right on the gorgeous beach we always stay in a beach front suite king room. The rooms are bright and spacious however I feel they are a bit dated and we had no mini bar in our room and had to request a separate fridge. Our room comes with a daily complementary afternoon tea however I am dairy intolerant and asked if this could be catered for unfortunately it didn’t seem the case as all I was given as a substitute was a plate of fruit not quite the same. I’m sure we will return but it’s the little things that count to make a nice hotel into a luxury one.

This hotel is still a winner for its location. I would go as far as saying it has the best beach on the island, and that’s probably the main reason why many return year on year. Management have also very cleverly put their best pool/beach assistant, Michael on duty, who single handedly manages the beach beds and beach area… a big shout out to him as he was extremely helpful during our stay as we did not have the butler service and kept the beach in pristine condition. Aside from the beach, the hotel can certainly improve certain areas, which we have flagged on previous stays but frankly very little has been done to resolve the issue. - All rooms have great ocean views and are spacious, however are in need of refurbishment. The bathroom is old and grim, there is no fridge/mini bar, towels and sheets are worn and although clearly clean, do have stains and marks. The mattress, bedding and pillows are no where near the level of luxury we are used to. - staff certainly tried their best and were very friendly and professional… however we did hear on numerous occasions that they were short staff. Working in the heat is no doubt challenging enough without lack of cover and this can certainly take its toll… which I’m sad to say was showing in staff moral - even though there is no shortage of variety for breakfast, the quality was lacking in comparison to similar resorts If it wasn’t for the beach and the service provided, mainly by Michael (highly recommend new guests to get to know him!) I would say the resort was closer to 3 stars, albeit I’m comparing to other 5 star resorts… perhaps in comparison to 3 star resorts it’s still luxurious.

The food was fantastic and coupled with excellent service and friendly staff was a positive for me. Great view of the ocean to give you a nice relaxing vibe. The drinks were great as well. Perfect for a getaway with your partner or friends. I definitely will be returning again

The last time we stayed at this hotel was 35 years ago, although we have returned to Barbados many times since our first visit in 1971 !! The West Coast still reflects the best of Barbados coast line for a relaxing holiday. This was a special anniversary and birthday surprise for my wife and I had requested the Hotel to arrange a birthday cake to be in our room. The cake was there when we entered with two cocktail drinks - just perfect. The best cake, ever, and what a size - it last for our whole week. Many thanks indeed to the Royal Pavilion for this. The Check-in was easy and welcoming and our Luxury Ocean View Room on the 2nd floor (236) was in a superb location and with beautiful beach and sea views, all day long. Lovely sunsets as well. We loved the room layout, balcony, bathroom, excellent walk in shower, and comfortable bed. Some of the wooden furniture drawers though were jamming. There was a broken mini-bar, which was dirty and no fridge in the room. I telephoned Reception and requested a fridge, as were not concerned about having a mini bar, but a fridge was essential (especially for our cake !). A large fridge arrived in a few minutes. However I do think all the rooms should have either a mini bar or a fridge. The room is lacking any facilities for drying wet swimwear or other clothing. I did request this, and was told it would be forthcoming, but it never arrived despite a second call. We were staying 7 nights and this Hotel which used to be known as the 'Jewel in the Crown' for Barbados, still has retained its 'pink' charm and could with some improvements be a 5 star as opposed to a 4.5 star. Excluding value for money as this hotel is very expensive compared to other Hotels in the Far East of higher quality, but then if you want Barbados and the West Coast there is a premium to be paid. The gardens are beautiful and well kept. I do feel though that the pathways especially between the Reception and the swimming pool and to the rooms could be better washed and cleaned. There are many leaves falling from the trees around the swimming pool and the loungers, and many of these go into the swimming pool. I feel the cleaning of the pool for most of our week was very poor, and only when Simon arrived did i see a big improvement. Full marks to Simon for his excellent attendance to the guests around the Pool. The restaurants were very good and all the staff were always very friendly and welcoming. and we really enjoyed all our meals. Breakfast was excellent in the Palm Terrace restaurant every morning, and it was a great start to the day. Again all the staff so good and friendly, and we enjoyed our chats with them. I cannot remember her name but the young lady on the Egg Station with a great smile and who had a little problem with the eggs for my wife was really good. I do think though that it would be far better to be able to order the eggs from the table rather than having to queue up, and which can be very busy. The Steak night meal on the Wednesday at the Palm Terrace was really good, and its a great pity that it is only available for one night a week. I feel that as a minimum this menu should be available at least two nights per week and if necessary in both restaurants. This Hotel should be a 5 star rated one and this could easily be achieved with just rectifying these small but important points. Overall though a really good and enjoyable holiday and well worth the cost.

We had great service from our waiter Llamar, he was very professional and helpful, our food was nice, the restaurant setting was nice and we had 1 of the best tables in the restaurant. Treveir and his team also did a great job in the kitchen. Thanks again

Everything was fine. Good ambience. Friendly staff. Cute Valentine’s Day set up. Very clean. Very interesting music selection for the entertainment. The services was a bit slow but overall a good dinning experience. We will be back!!! :)

Lovely experience...Mary-Ann was fantastic she provided my Fiancee and I with excellent service...food was delicious and the saxophonist played some delightful music. Would definitely come back again and bring the family with me, Thank you!

The food, service and views were amazing. 4 course meal was delicious. Complimentary champagne and a rose when you first walk in the door. My favorite was the live music and background jazz that played our favorite songs. The best Valentine’s Day ever.

Dinner was amazing, everthing was chef's kiss. The crusted snapper was the star of my main course. The passionfruit champagne sober was simply delicious. My partner had the shrimp and it was nice as well. The live music set the mood for valentines.

We have just returned after another excellent stay at The Fairmont Royal Pavilion in Barbados. The hotel has a wonderful location right on what is the best beach on the west coast. We were again Royally looked after by Michael Sealy, who surly needs to be made the New General Manager. Assisted by many of staff, the hotel does all it can to provide you with the perfect holiday, and we look forward to returning again next year.

Also managed to delay room by 1 hour so only had to hang around for 90 minutes until taxi but no courtesy room for departing guests is a first. Overall though would go back

The property is absolutely beautiful—small, intimate, right on the ocean with a lovely beach and great views. Service was wonderful throughout, and housekeeping twice a day kept everything spotless. We just returned from a 7 nights to celebrate my birthday and our 40th wedding anniversary. The property is absolutely beautiful—small, intimate, right on the ocean with a lovely beach and great views. Service was wonderful throughout, and housekeeping twice a day kept everything spotless. Transfers were included both ways. Departure was smooth, but arrival was messy. There was confusion and some chaos, and the team had to find alternative transportation instead of the prearranged transfer being ready. Check-in also didn’t hit the mark. After a long travel day, not receiving the welcome drink that was meant to be offered didn’t set the right tone. We followed up the next day and received it then. The Palm Terrace restaurant was closed with no advance notice, which left only one restaurant open. While breakfast was excellent, the main menu became repetitive and the food overall was just average. We did have a pre-booked private dinner on the beach for our anniversary, and that was fantastic—great food and attentive service. We booked a beachfront suite that advertised a butler, daily canapés, and afternoon tea. These perks were disappointing. The butlers appeared inconsistently, the canapés were poor, and the tea was mediocre. At this price point, these extras need to be much better—or not offered at all. Overall, it’s a gorgeous property in a stunning location, and we would return—but only after confirming Palm Terrace is operating. For a quiet getaway in a beautiful setting, it’s a lovely choice as long as expectations are set correctly.

Love this hotel, it’s located on the best beach in Barbados and I always leave wanting to come back for more. The staff are warm and friendly and despite the fact that they do not currently have a general manager the management team were doing a sterling job. It’s a pity that the Palm Terrace was out of action because of structural problems but that said breakfast in The Taboras, ocean front, is just perfect. As there are so many great restaurants on the island we only ate at the hotel a couple of times but each time the service and food were great. They did a superb job of serving up a delicious tuna tartare and seared tuna with chips and salad caught that day on a fishing trip. The rooms were fresh and clean every day just have to make sure to keep your door closed when the air con is on to prevent excessive condensation from the outside humidity. I do love hearing the sound of the waves! The most important factor at this hotel is the beach with everyone room ocean facing. White sand and turquoise waters with beach waiters at your service. I hope I will still be visiting for another 20 years.

It was also very quiet at night (the aircon was noisy but we slept well with it off) Breakfast choice was very good and was included in our daily rate. Some Water sports for free which we used each day and well run by Ryan and Derrick who were always very attentive. The Butler service we didnt really use as we are able to book things online eg Uber are now active in Barbados and Opentable for restaurants etc. So the reason it was average when it really should have been outstanding was the level of service. When you book a 5 star hotel at E1,000 per night you expect the staff to care for you to a decent level and u expect service from all with a smile. It was so hit and miss. Some were a pleasure to deal with and were professional and caring but all too often you were made to feel you were either interrupting the staffs own fun time or you were an inconvenience. Such a pity as we understand the Caribbean culture is to be relaxed but the lack of consistent service was a huge disappointment. You pay 5 star rates not 3 star so u expect decent friendly service. For example pre dinner drinks can take an age as nobody seems to want to take the order. We only ate once other than breakfast as so many of the restaurants nearby have decent service eg Nauti HQ

Concierge Tia helped make dinner reservations and plan outings to Harrison Caves and Cool Runnings Catamaran Tour. Rooms were cleaned daily including a turn down service in the evenings. Shanese was amazing! We had complimentary use of the paddle boards, Hobie Cat and kayaks at The Beach Club. We enjoyed our last morning out on the water with Ryan. He made sure we went out before having to fly back home. We had no idea what a gem The Royal Pavilion was gonna be! Getting there from the airport may be a challenge if you drive yourself or expensive if you take a shuttle. The roads were busy with unclear signage so took us about an hour to arrive at the Fairmont after flying into Bridgeport. Still raving about our time there so hope to make it back again.

The Royal Pavilion is a lovely hotel. The views from the beachfront suites are extraordinary! The rooms are large, beds comfortable and the air conditioner is excellent. The bathroom was clean and the water pressure just right. Stepping out onto your own patio overlooking the water is dreamy. All of the staff members are extremely friendly and check-in to make sure that everything is going well. The hotel is about an hour away from the airport in traffic or about 45 minutes without traffic and is located on a beach that has lots of sea glass to collect and calm, warm water to enjoy. There was only one restaurant open on the property at the time we travelled. Breakfast was very good. The food for lunch and dinner was just OK. A bit bland, limited options and not to the standard of other Fairmont properties we have stayed at. There is an excellent option for dinner located a 3 minute walk away, called Lone Star. Get the lamb-- you won't regret it! The wine offerings at the hotel were good if you wanted to buy a bottle. They are expensive, but that is to be expected when purchasing from a hotel. It would be a similar price if I bought a bottle of wine at a restaurant in Canada. We were offered an all-inclusive add-on package priced at $240.00 USD per person, per day $480 USD total or about $670 CAD. This did not include any prosecco or champagnes by the glass, room service and only two lower-end wines by the glass and basic cocktails. The plan included 4 meals a day, which is a lot of food (too much fo us)! Apparently, there were some items on the menu that would be excluded from the AI plan, but I am not sure what they were as we did not go with that option. Since breakfast was included in our stay, we opted out and then calculated our expenses to see if we made the right choice. A typical lunch where we bought 1 sparkling water and 2 sandwiches would be about $80 CDN dollars with taxes and tip. A typical dinner, with a bottle of wine and 2 entrees would be about 250 CDN dollars. Extra drinks are about 15 CDN dollars per drink (beer is cheaper). We usually had a cocktail or beer before dinner. We spent about $350 CDN per day if we ate all our meals at the resort, so the all-inclusive option would not have given us any cost-savings. We found it much more affordable and enjoyed the variety of options available just to pay for the meals and drinks we wanted, plus we were able to have room service this way and eat on our beautiful deck overlooking the water. Also, Barbados has tons of great restaurants and this allowed us to get out and explore these options. We had a couples massage in our room that was both excellent and strange all at once. The actual massage itself was the perfect pressure and the therapists were very friendly. That being said, the therapists did not leave the room or even turn away when we were undressing to get on to the massage table. Since we were only in our underwear, that was a bit uncomfortable. Also, they did not have sheets to cover us, only towels, which is not to the standards of practise that we are used to in Canada. The so-called "butler service" was non-existent, for us at least. I tried to find a butler to help us book a massage the second day of our trip but there was no one to be found. I finally called and was told he would look into it but he never got back to me. The next day, a different butler came to say hello and we asked if the massage had been booked. He was not aware of the request but came back about an hour later to tell us it had been booked for 11:30. Although the "butlers" were friendly and liked to ask you about your day, we found no added value for this service that comes with the beachfront suites. The service at the restaurant was attentive and a good pace but if you wanted a drink at the bar or at the beach , be prepared to wait! We waited between 30 and 75 minutes for every drink we ordered throughout our stay, which seems like a long wait for a 5 star hotel. Even if we were the only ones at the bar, and actually sitting right at the bar, we still had to wait and wait and wait for a simple beer or glass of wine. The beer and wine were right there so I am not entirely sure why service was painfully slow. Everyone we spoke to felt that the wait times were very long for drinks, and many guests were annoyed. The plus side is, you are never going to have the problem of having "one too many" with the long wait times!!! 2 bottles of water per day are included with our room (one during the day and one at turn-down). Otherwise, you have to pay an outrageous amount for them. Some cocktails that I ordered were less expensive than a bottle of water. If I could have chosen, I would have found unlimited access to water bottles more valuable than butler service. While the tap water is safe to drink in Barbados, it did not agree with me and so I found that the only way to avoid feeling "off" was to purchase bottled water. For the price of the beachfront suite, I think including access to bottled water, free of charge, would be reasonable. If one wants to secure sun beds on the beach- they get taken quite quickly, I am an early riser and went for a walk everyday at 7am. I was encouraged to place some sunscreen or personal item on 2 loungers to secure my spot. When I came back before 8am, all the loungers had personal items on them. Anyone that came out at 9am or 10am would have difficulty getting a lounger on the beach-- and this is in the quiet season! In terms of entertainment, they have a singer during dinner and all of the singers were excellent. You can do non-motorized water sports for free but anything motorized you need to pay for. There were a lot of older people and people with young families. This is a quiet resort with no night scene, so if you are looking for lots of evening entertainment or a vibrant bar scene after dinner, this is not the place for you. Overall , the warmth and kindness of the people we encountered is what would bring us back. Every hostess, server, housekeeper, beach attendant was extremely attentive, kind and engaging. The rooms are beautiful, the beach is one of the best on the island and the proximity to other restaurants is excellent. Despite some issues, we would come back-- but next time we will stop at the duty free and get our own drinks so we don't have to wait at the bar.

So we have just arrived 28 th October … wow wow wow … I’m speechless .. we were picked up at the airport from the hotel straight through the security with our guide .. when we arrived at the hotel from the second we got out the car it was fabulous.. we were greeted with cold towels and welcome drinks the members of staff were so attentive to us made us so welcome … we then had the best surprise we had been upgraded to the most gorgeous beach suit and our butler dom took us to our room … well I was blown away it was beyond what you could of imagined .. straight onto the beach you could almost touch the sea .. the room is spotlessly clean beautiful bathroom .. tea coffee making facility we have a gorgeous lounge area .. stunning .. we had dinner last night here the food was amazing the catch of the day was so fresh .. again the staff went over and beyond to make our night feel special . We woke up this morning in paradise .. we had all fresh towels on our decking loungers and looked after by Shane he was so happy and looked after us got our sun loungers on the beach .. I honesty don’t think I will want to leave here .. great job to all at the royal fairmont we so excited to be here for our anniversary .. you are making it a dream .. Ruth & pat beach ❤️

The hotel kindly let us check in early and depart late, they also sent us a bottle of champagne following recently getting engaged. The rooms are great, views are unbeatable and the beach is lovely. I think the negative reviews are coming from people who are not used to Barbados pricing and hotels. Will definitely be back!

Breakfast rather disappointing and little effort is made to keep the birds off the food. Was surprised to see smoked salmon and charcuterie sitting out in the heat for hours.cereals are soft due to humidity, they should be offered in sealed containers or small individual packets. The egg station requires a thorough steam clean. Toaster is very poor and slow. Staff are mainly nice but the staff need to collect finished drinks etc regularly from around the pool. We had cups sat there for well over two hours and the hotel is not busy. The staff are too busy chatting at the bar. The pool toilets are not good, the floor and the mastic needs scrubbing, very poor indeed. The rooms are quite well appointed but again poor cleaning lets them down especially in the bathrooms our shower had very grubby mastic and the waste bin in the bathroom needs to be thrown out. Our room had a stained carpet , not pleasant to look at. Public areas also a little shabby but the gardens are well kept. Given the prices charged the hotel does not attain proper five star standards which is unusual for Fairmont. Would come again but only if improvements are made.

After reading a few of the not so great reviews, we were a little apprehensive for our 1st visit but it was fantastic. People had said it looks a little tired and I slightly agree but nothing major. We had a few issues with the lock on our door working but reception were super helpful and in the end up we moved rooms. We were gifted a bottle of Moët to apologise which was appreciated and a really nice touch. Breakfast had a great choice of items and the view over the beach is just perfect. The birds are cheeky though so think some covers would be useful to stop unwanted visitors. As we visited in off season, the hotel was lovely and quiet. Plenty of choice of sun beds around the pool or on the beach. Great pool guys. Ate room service and lunch once and plenty of choice and food nice. Both rooms were great. Incredible view of the beach from bed. Huge bed and most importantly powerful air con. Grounds were well maintained and we even had a family of monkeys visit 🍌 Happy hour 5.30-6.30 was brilliant and the best pina colada we’ve ever tasted. If we came again we would definitely return and quite possibly in off season.

We stayed at the Fairmont Pavilion in the off-season and honestly, I think we cracked the code. The beach was ours alone, not a selfie stick or inflatable flamingo in sight, and the pool was blissfully free of anyone attempting lengths. I’m sure in peak season it’s a different story,...

The beach was ours alone, not a selfie stick or inflatable flamingo in sight, and the pool was blissfully free of anyone attempting lengths. I’m sure in peak season it’s a different story, but having the place practically to ourselves felt like winning the holiday lottery. The staff were genuinely lovely, adding to that laid-back charm Barbados does so well. And the best bit? We enjoyed every moment without having to pay three times the price for Sandy Lane. Sometimes, being contrary pays off.

I was staying for my honeymoon and paid for an upgraded to a Beachfront Suite (Room 116). Pre-Arrival Communication with the hotel in advance of arrive was terrible, I tried several times by phone and email, the only time I got an answer was when I complained via social media. Arrival Greeted at the airport and helped by a lovely team, and collected in a new BMW. All very smooth and lovely. Rooms The Beachfront Suite was very tired. The front door completely covered in dead flies. A decorator was painting over them on the neighbouring room door. There was also quite a gap around the door and so lots of insects / rain could easily enter as they are exposed, it also means a lot of noise travels. The double glazed sliding doors to the beachfront terrace were filled with condensation so you often could not see out of them even with curtains open. The bed was comfy and large, perhaps a superking. The TV system worked and the bathroom, whilst compact, was perfectly adequate. The kettle worked, but the ice bucket was not refilled by house keeping, you have to leave the building and walk across the yard to get ice. But as there are no cold drinks in the room it is odd to provide glasses and ice container. The furniture was very tired. The dresser is a white faux leather, so it is not very forgiving and is covered in nicks, marks, make up, stains. The tiled floor is cold and damp to touch. The rug contained extensive brown stains. The minibar is just an empty glass fridge in the middle of the room. The base of the wardrobes are mouldy/damp crumbling. The ceilings/walls/covings were stained and damp, with signs of damp bubbling. The paintings on the wall were damp and dis-cloured from damp. The mirrors were always covered in condensation. Water would pour from the air conditioning and so a towel needed to be kept on the floor to stop it getting slipery. Butler Team The head butler, Peter, is an absolute gentleman and professional. The other members very enthusiastic, but provided us with inaccurate information so we went out for dinner expecting a table reservation, waited in a queue for over two hours before returning to the hotel having not eaten. He had not checked the restaurant for us. Dining/Food The dining room was closed for refurbishment, even though no warning was given during the booking or even in the printed "welcome" letter on check in, so we went to the building site for breakfast to be told all meals were at the poolside restaurant - not exactually 5* luxury. Breakfast was a classic american buffet. Nothing wrong per say but nothing great. Evening meals also had to be in the same place, on the same wobbly and dated wicker garden furniture. Service was a little slow but the staff all very friendly. Unfortunately there were errors with our order on both nights. One night the "rare" steak came back well done, the second night the kebab was mistaken for a steak. Problems, but with a smile! Beach Club Essentially a car park shack. Not a nice / romantic / Caribbean shack, but literally a shack at the end of the dusty car park. Pool Very tired with missing tiles and very strong chlorine smell! Laundry Inaccurate in room information. Called for it to be collected late in the afternoon and was told to leave in bag at end of bed. It was not collected until 7am the following day (so woken up at 7am by house keeping) to then only be told they do not undertake it on site, and the offsite location is closed on a weekend and so it would not go off to be cleaned until the following day anyway! Overall Unfortunately the damp in the room, with its smell, was too much for us. After the second day of poor experience we liaised with the manager to request moving hotel. We established that the hotel was without a general manager as they are recruiting but the deputy manager was very understanding. We had a second night's troubled sleep in the damp and smelly room, and in the morning the manager agreed that she would arrange a full refund and we could check out and move to a different hotel. I continued to pay the two night's accommodation tax and for the (poor) meals consumed and was promised a refund in 3 - 5 working days. We are over two weeks later and I am still without a refund. American Express have tried contacting the hotel but they have no record of the agreement for us to check out early and to be refunded - even though this was by the deputy manager, in front of the reception team, the concierge, and Peter the Head Butler. As such I am still around £8,000 down. I have also found out that a friend had arranged for a bottle of champagne to greet us and paid $300, but it never materialised! I get the impression that it was a fantastic hotel, but it has been underinvested and is very tired, I also understand that they are seeking to be downgraded to 4* so as to lower expectations and are having staffing difficulties. I would recommend avoiding the hotel and staying at one of the many alternative 4 or 5* hotels in the areas.

Highly recommended. Visiting Barbados during its less busy season is perfect, as everything is easily accessible and available. The Fairmont offers a beach that is probably the nicest on the island

We loved our 7-night stay at The Fairmont Royal Pavilion in Barbados to celebrate our 15-year wedding anniversary. Our greeting upon arrival included a chilled towel and iced fruit punch served near the peaceful koi pond fountain. The oceanfront king room was modern and updated, with in-room air-con and ceiling fans in the room and on the balcony. We also had a mini fridge and lots of extra closet space and storage. The morning breakfast buffet at the Fairmont is first-class, with a large section of tropical fruits, juices, omelet station, hot dishes, and homemade breads and jams. The view from the hotel restaurant is less than 30 yards from the water. The breakfast buffet was included in our daily room rate. We also loved relaxing at the beautiful pool and jacuzzi, encircled by vast manicured gardens and lush palm trees. The property is located a short drive from Holetown in St. James parish, and we enjoyed visiting the Massey grocery store and several nice shops and restaurants in town. The beach water at the Fairmont was crystal clear, with no sargassum/seaweed issues. The rooms are quiet and well-insulated, and we did not experience any outside noise. The housekeeping service is provided twice per day (cleaning and turn down service. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely return.
