We stayed 5 nights here on a fully inclusive basis in a Salto Chico room. We were picked up from our hotel (Remota Patagonia) in Puerto Natales by an Explora lodge van and driven to the lodge (around 1.5 hours drive). On arrival, we were greeted by Manuel, the manager at the door and bags delivered to our room. Manuel showed us around the lodge and explained how the days work here at the lodge. We were booked in for a walk from the lodge that afternoon. Our room was fabulous - I had been concerned that the 'lesser' Salto Chico room may have been disappointing, but no - we were very lucky to have Room 28 which was a corner room. Not a huge room but very comfortable. Unless money is no object, I would highly recommend the Salto Chico rooms - you really don't spend a lot of time in your room if you are here on a fully inclusive basis, and out for most of the day. The lodge has amazing view from the lounge and restaurant to enjoy any time. A lovely touch is the welcome card in the room as well as a quality water bottle and small dry bag of useful items. We sat down with a guide over a drink before dinner to plan out activities during our stay - this was revisited over a drink with a guide every evening to take into consideration the weather conditions expected for the next day. This lodge is stunning - the views amazing, the service fabulous and the food exceptional. It's the location though, in one of the wildest places of extraordinary beauty that we are here to experience. And so we did - we packed our days with activities - either full day activities where we would take a packed lunch or two half day activities where we would be back at the lodge for lunch in between. We had 4 full days and I would recommend this - we felt it allowed us to see a lot of the park in all directions. The Cuernos walk was stunning - difficult in its length - a full day of hiking with a few steep bits. Sarmiento - very interest - blowing a gale and horizontal icy rain yet we still enjoyed it!. Mirador Toro walk - lovely lookout. Pingo Chorillo - lovely walk to a waterfall. Laguna Largo - easy with the most stunning views of the horns. Aonikenk + La Loma - a full day. They offer horse riding - we didn't take this up. Groups were generally small - at most 8 with a guide, but often just us and 1 or 2 others. A highlight was our close enounter with a Puma - spotted high on a hillside by our driver when we were enroute to a walk one morning - to our amazement it walked towards the road and then ran between our group - amazing photos. I can't recommend this lodge enough - sure it is expensive but the location is the best, the guides and activities so good, the food and service could not be faulted. An experience we will always remember.

Wow! Wow! Wow! This lodge is truly the best of the best. One truly has to stay there just for the experience. Everything from the service, to the food, to the rooms, to the views, to the spa, to the hikes, to the guides to the staff and beyond was exceptional. There were ten of us traveling together and we all had our different needs and Nicolas and his team came through for us, they went above and beyond to help us get the most out of our stay. I would encourage anyone who is traveling to Patagonia, Chile to stay at Explora Lodge, it the best experience you will ever have in your life.

Loved it--but get a gym/fitness center
Loved it! Great excursion choices for different levels of fitness. Excellent guides. Great meals. It's expensive, but what a memory, staying right there surrounded by such beautiful terrain. I had a wonderful stay at Explora and thoroughly enjoyed the experience overall. The food was excellent, with gourmet dinners and fantastic breakfast spreads, and the views of the Paine Massif and the Horns were absolutely stunning. The excursions offered were well-curated and a highlight of the trip.
However, there were a couple of areas where my experience could have been better.
Room Ventilation: The central heating system in the rooms made them quite warm at night. While opening the windows helped, it also let in daylight, which can be disruptive if you prefer to sleep early, like I do.
Mount Británico Hike: This was the most disappointing part of my stay. The guides maintained a very fast pace, which felt rushed and didn’t allow me to enjoy the stunning scenery or take photos at the many beautiful viewpoints along the trail. As an avid hiker, I usually maintain a good pace, but I prefer to hike at a speed that allows me to truly appreciate the journey, not just the destination.
The guides seemed intent on returning by 5 PM to catch Explora’s private catamaran, which created unnecessary pressure. Ironically, we ended up returning at 7 PM because I couldn’t keep up with the pace. If the guides had planned for a later return, I could have completed the hike to Mount Británico and enjoyed it without feeling rushed.
For a trip to Patagonia, which is often a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, this was a significant disappointment. I hope Explora can revisit the scheduling and pacing of their excursions to better accommodate guests with different hiking styles and ensure a more enjoyable experience for everyone.
Overall, Explora is a fantastic place to stay, and I hope my feedback helps improve future visits for other guests.

Magnificent. This hotel is perfect. Amazing beautiful location, great design, wonderful staff, lovely food and drinks. Lots of organised tours into the park of many types and levels of challenge. Boutique size hotel. All the staff are super professional and friendly.

The location is really what sold us on Explora over the other options & it didn't disappoint. Having stayed at 2 other Explora Lodges, the location, excursions & guiding were as per our previous experiences & absolutely excellent. We also loved the interaction with other other guests over a drink in the bar after hiking & enjoyed the spa even though it is a short walk from the main building. Hot tubs on the edge of the lake & a plunge into the cold lake was exhilarating. We also had good massages. One of the things we love about Explora is the friendly nature of the whole place & meeting like minded people.
Considering this is their oldest lodge at nearly 30 years i think, it has stood the test of time very well & the public areas & rooms are still comfortable & stylish.
The position on the lake allows for a couple of legs of the W hike to be accessed directly by the hotel's own boat meaning you never have long vehicle transfers to access the best hiking here.
The only real disappointment was as others have said, the food which really was very poor on a number of levels. Whilst I appreciate the location is very remote that is not an acceptable excuse for what was offered. Breakfast was almost passable once we discovered they would in fact give us a fried egg on request rather than whatever the dish of the day was. Wait times for eggs & coffee could vary enormously & they need to offer an earlier breakfast for those departing on 7.15 or 7.30 am excursions as 7am is really not time enough to get a decent breakfast in before a big hike.
Packed lunches were pretty good with an option of filled rolls or a canister with a grain, rice or pasta salad. We only had the buffet on our arrival day which was quite acceptable if not amazing.
The traditional Barbecue at the Estancia was excellent although possibly the time frame a bit too long as we spent over 2hrs there & was a bit too long but fun nevertheless.
Post hiking & in the bar always was cheese (usually with no crackers) which was a bit repetitive - a bit of variety would have been nice & crackers with the cheese would have improved this. Also post hike the driver always seemed to offer beer or red wine with the cheese. Maybe some white wine would have been appropriate but I went with the beer as thirst quenching
Dinners were the real disappointment. I won't repeat what others have said but hopefully due to the comments on here & directly to management this will have been rectified as our previous experiences on Easter Island & in the Sacred Valley have been excellent in terms of food.
The transfer to Punta Arenas by Explora threw up a lovely surprise with a great lunch stop at a little roadhouse on a very windswept plain. Delicious, friendly & quite unexpected!
My only other comment was that for a lodge that prides itself on being high end, the manager could have played a bit of a 'host 'role as we never really met him till the last day. I was told on booking that as returning Explora guests, they were unable to offer us a the usual discount as was Peak time but would upgrade our room. This didn't happen & I mentioned it to reception on the first day & no one ever reached out to me (I realised they were full over Christmas but some recognition of my comment would have been appropriate)
Overall we still had a great experience & assuming the food is sorted out I would absolutely recommend this place

My wife and I stayed at two Explora locations during our recent trip to Chile. We really enjoyed our time at the Atacama location and we were super excited about Torres del Paine. This is the crown jewel in the Explora collection and for good reason: it’s absolutely gorgeous, the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen. We built our entire vacation around this hotel.
Unfortunately, we had a very bad experience at Explora Torres del Paine. Within 48 hours of arriving, my husband and I both got the stomach bug and had to miss 36 hours of our vacation because we were so sick. At first, we thought it was bad luck, but later learned that at least 50% of the guests staying at the hotel with us had the stomach bug too. Not only was Explora doing nothing to help warn guests or slow the spread, we learned from the Explora staff that virus had been circulating for weeks and that the staff had already all had it. We thought of many things Explora could have tried to help with the situation (I.e. encouraging people to isolate in their rooms and not go on excursions together, using cleaning products that were stronger and would kill the germs, etc.) but Explora didn’t do any of that. In fact, all of the guests continued to share the same food and drinks from the buffet, were packed into vans together, and we were even encouraged to all drink ‘mate’ together from the same cup.
On our last morning, we met with the manager and explained that we wanted a partial refund and he agreed and said he would be in touch. Well, we never heard from them again, despite our repeated attempts to follow up with them once we were home. I honestly can’t believe how much money we paid and the experience we had, and it makes me so upset thinking about it. I really hope they’ve gotten the situation under control now, but I won’t be staying at any Exploras again in the future.

The room was impeccable, spacious and had an absolutely amazing view. The food for breakfast, lunch and dinner was top-notch. The spa was very enjoyable and we took advantage of jumping into the cold river to help with our muscle recovery after activities. Lastly, the atmosphere created by the staff and other guests provided a very pleasant experience, whether during excursions, meals, when just sitting around and enjoying the view, or at the bar. AAA+++

Best location in Torres Del Paine with a perfect view of the horns. Guides get you on hikes early so you can beat the crowds. Explora has two boats which is unique to this hotel and they get you to the French Valley and Grey Glacier hikes early in the morning. They have a wonderful guide staff (shout out to Martin/not Papaya and Martin/Papaya)!
The horse ride was fun for even people who’ve never ridden a horse before and their barbecue was amazing. They take good care of you the entire time.

Glacier Grey hike starts with a ride across Largo Pehoe on the Explora catamaran, nearly 8 mile hike and finally another boat ride on Largo Grey for an up close look of three faces of the glacier.
A full day activity to the Quincho area for a hike, barbecue lunch and horseback ride was yet another highlight.
The staff are friendly and helpful.
There were so many WOW moments!

The area is spectacular, the view from the hotel about the most beautiful I've ever seen. We stayed first at the Explora El Chalten then used the hotel transport van to go to Torres del Paine, which was great as Patagonia is huge and hard to get around. [Note: 25% discount on 2nd Explora lodge visit on same trip.] The staff is excellent, professional and friendly, and guides are top-notch. The hotel is comfortable w/ lots of places to sit, store well-stocked w/ cold weather gear, food and wines excellent, and I love that once you get there, everything's included. Hotel is comfortable but not super luxurious (good bed, wonderful linens, but rooms small-ish) and not the least pretentious...I loved it but it's not for everyone.
My one criticism is there are not enough lower-paced activities; I'm in pretty good shape, but 5'2" and not young; since husband is 6' and great hiker, I'd expected to spend more time at the spa & pool, but it's 127 steps down the hill so not easy to pop down, tho you can request a van to pick you up so at least you don't have to climb back up post-massage or swim.
