Beautiful and comfortable lobby with decent breakfast and gorgeous lake view. Great location to walk to the town. There is no AC, but with the window open it is pleasant. We asked for a fan that never arrived. When the windows are open in the room with the lake view, the homeowners below keep their dogs fenced in their yard all night and multiple dogs barked all night long.

The interior boasts an "elevated mountain lodge" vibe, featuring spacious, comfortable rooms with relaxing color schemes and elegant flat-screen TVs. A perfect place to spend the evening after a hard day in the mountains!
LOCATION:Situated near El Calafate's Libertador Avenue, the hotel offers stunning views of Lake Argentino and the surrounding mountains. It's conveniently located within a 10-minute walk to the main street, providing easy access to local shops and restaurants.
DINE + DRINK: they have a lovely bar near the lobby. The restaurant serves excellent breakfast with high quality ingredients that is worth waking up for!

We booked 4 nights directly with this hotel. They confirmed our reservation promptly. The hotel responds promptly to emails- requests and questions. Staff are pleasant and always ready to help. The service was excellent. Our check-in/out was quick and hassle free. The lobby is very spacious with lots of seating areas. Our room was spacious and clean, and everything worked well. Bed and pillows were comfortable. There is a bit of road noise, but it did not disrupt our sleep. The room has a safe but no coffee maker or hot water pot. Wi-Fi connection was good throughout the property. Bath amenities are sufficient. Breakfast is included. It is self-service. A simple start with scrambled eggs, ham/cheese, hot/cold beverages, fruits, pastries, and cereals. Enough for a good start in the morning. The hotel is about a 15-minute walk to the town center. There are sidewalks, mostly flat except the hill where the hotel is located. Overall, this is a good place to stay in El Calafate. Most tours offer pick-ups at this hotel. It's about a 20-minute drive from the airport.

We spent only two nights in El Calafate and staying at Esplendor was the perfect way to get a view of the town and lake while staying within walking distance of all the main restaurants, shops, and the lake.
We had an early trip to see the Perito Moreno Glacier and breakfast at the hotel was the perfect way to prepare for the long day ahead! We also had an early departure to the airport the next day (6:30am) but still had time to get breakfast in before we left.
The room was beautiful - we loved the mountain aesthetic and had a direct view of the lake and mountains from our room.

An ok hotel. Too hot and no air con ( they did provide a fan ). Pillows lumpy . Bed comfortable.
Reception nice. Bar mostly unmanned and a trauma when they find someone.
Breakfast ran out of bacon. The begrudgingly made some more. Prior day was cold.
At dinner we wanted a burger ( on the bar menu ) but the bar was empty and unmanned so we asked to have it in the restaurant ( which was mostly empty ). Yes fine. Next person comes along. 2 burgers please. You can only order that at the bar. Mouth dropped. They did in the end agree.
It is 10 min to town which has a nice selection of restaurants. 15 min back uphill so not a quick pop out to eat out after a long excursion.
It is provably the best option in town but I would prefer a lesser option closer to the centre as the walk is quite lengthy.
The glacier is worth a visit.

We stayed here for 3 nights. It’s a nice hotel with friendly staff. It’s the small things that bother me like on the 2nd floor at the elevator only the up button can be pressed. At breakfast, at 09:00 when we came for breakfast the eggs were cold. The next day we had a pickup at 07:10 and they said breakfast starts at 06;00. I guess nobody told the kitchen staff. They only put out the food at 06:25 and the eggs were cold. The 3rd day we went down at 06:20 and everyone still had to wait for them. And guess what, the eggs were cold.
The rooms are nice and you have a nice view from the room to lake Argentina.

The hotel shows well in pictures but is getting tired. The rooms are small and do not have air conditioning which was a challenge. You can open your window but may not get wind and may instead hear noises from venues around the hotel. The towels were old, worn and scratchy, the pillows were terrible and there were limited toiletries and no tea kettle or coffee maker. For a ‘luxury’ hotel it was missing ‘the luxury’. Some of the desk staff were quite nice but others were definitely lacking in customer service. They treated us like we were an inconvenience and were not particularly welcoming. We had arrived ahead of the strict 2 pm check in time but were given keys anyway, and after we returned from lunch in town we were scolded for already having our keys because they ‘never give them ahead of check in’. I like another person’s review where they indicated that the desk staff acted like they were running a hostel and not a hotel, and another where they suggested the staff were demoralized. This rang true. We had originally booked a return here after our hiking trip but cancelled and stayed elsewhere in El Calafate.

We stayed for three nights at the hotel while visiting El Calafate. The lobby of the hotel is very spacious and inviting. The restaurant staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast was fine, pastries, eggs, some fresh fruit, and juices. The coffee is a little out of control super black! The front staff don’t speak the best English if you absolutely don’t speak the language at all. The area around the hotel I felt safe and fine but there aren’t any shops or restaurants close by. Walking to the main street just takes about ten minutes and we didn’t find it a big deal to walk, and the city always felt safe. The biggest issue was our room. 101. Do not stay in 101! We actually paid extra to stay in this room, I’m not sure why but there were multiple issues. The keys consistently did not work to the door. It often took up to five minutes to get inside our room. Paying extra you would expect a view. The window faces uphill, So all we got a view of was a roof, and a street no view of the lake, the city or anything of any interest. The room had no drawers so there was no place to keep your clothes besides your suitcase. The TV is small and the remote hardly worked. Thankfully we really didn’t spend much time in the room, but it certainly was not worth the cost, let alone extra cost of an upgrade.

The best place in town to stay
Travel Date: October 31, 2023
A beautiful hotel. Great swim area and bar. Eggs and sweets for breakfast and also boxed lunches for day trips. We had a great check in and a poor checkout so that is the only reason I am not giving this place a perfect 5. Walkable to everywhere.

A nice hotel the offered a good service, with nice rooms and excellent breakfast - If you want to eat at its restaurant, make sure you book a table or you may miss out (if you go in high season) . It even has a nice hot water pool!

There was an issue with the lift where the door was left open for over a day hanging half. The rooms keys keep loosing the settings and every time we left the room they have to be reconfigured. Horrible customer service by the evening host named Carlos.

On a hill above the town but inconvenient for both walkers and drivers (an 8-car gravel parking lot), this Wyndham property feels tired. There is nothing of appeal in the neighborhood and the exterior and surrounding streets made you uneasy even before entering. Yes, it has a restaurant and spa, spacious lobby, and view toward the lake, but dinners are mediocre, the breakfast buffet fine but not memorable, the view as much of dirty streets and dilapidated buildings as the lake in the distance, and the room poorly arranged to take advantage of the limited space and overheated by the sun on a clear day. The hotel brags of its multilingual, helpful staff; we encountered only shortages of either.
