Everything was perfect. Beautiful hotel, rooms and gardens. Exceptional staff, could not fault a single thing. Very well located, and 24hr security at main entrance. Food was beautiful, the decor of the rooms and communal areas were gorgeous and the extensive art collection was exceptional, and they offer art tours which I would definitely recommend! Everything was 10/10, only wish we could have stayed longer !

What an unusual and classic spot to stay. From the time you arrive you feel like a guest in some extravagant home. We have stayed in some fantastic properties and this is definitely a top 2-3. We had room 11 which is fantastic. You feel like your right at home, large living area, and a large bedroom. The owner has one of the largest African art collections in the world and most are on display in the rooms, common areas and art gallery. If you or your spouse are into art the complimentary tour is a must. Staff is top notch, food is very good, and the 11 room quaint hotel is very cozy. There is a fantastic wine room/cellar defiantly worth a visit. On top of that the Telegraph just rated them #3 hotel in the world and I would agree. It’s a must stay if in Cape Town.

The rooms are spacious and clean,im satisfied .The reception is friendly also is the stuff.everyone was welcoming and had such beautiful smiles.The lovely stuff has led to us enjoying more of place.The place is beautiful and out of this world,the food is great too

Where do we even begin? Ellerman House was our last stop on our honeymoon, and we looked into changing our flights to stay another night within minutes of arriving. Prince met us at the door, gave us a tour of the stunning property, and showed us to a beautiful suite that they upgraded us to to celebrate the occasion. After two weeks of exploring South Africa, 24 hours to cozy up at Ellerman House was such a treat. From the art, to the views, to the food and wine (dinner at the restaurant is a must), everything was phenomenal - but nothing beats the staff. Someone is always waiting to bring you just exactly what you need, whether it’s a blanket on the patio or some canapés while you enjoy a cocktail in the bar. And don’t miss a trip to the spa! We planned to just check out and enjoy the property before our late flight, but the staff gave us a complementary room to call home for a few hours so we could freshen up before our long trip home. Just unmatched hospitality. This place is a love letter to South Africa and we can’t wait to come back!

Our full day tour of the Cape was a highlight (Aslam is the best tour guide we have had, highly recommended)! If you are looking for luxury in Cape Town, look no further!

I don’t typically write reviews but wanted to post one for Ellerman house (they did not ask for one). This was our second stay at Ellerman (previously March 2019). This is probably the best managed boutique property in the world. The place itself is one of a kind with a world class art collection to be enjoyed. Rooms and property are in excellent condition having been recently retouched in April 2024. The staff is the most attentive and friendly group in the world. They are creative and have extremely high standards. The service is more attentive than the Ritz in Paris and the friendliness makes the house feel more like staying at a wealthy friend’s home with some very generous hosts than a hotel. The food is delicious. The staff will organize bespoke tours around Cape Town if you speak with them. We are already planning our next trip.

I could end my review there, but some memories that we’ll talk about forever: how we wanted our house to be as well designed as the public areas and our guest room, enjoying sundowners with the most beautiful view of the African sunset, to Zolani’s enthusiasm and experience behind the daily gin and tonic cart, to Michelle’s warmest of welcomes, to the complimentary (and dangerous!) butlers pantry, to the smiles and acknowledgements from every team member we encountered…could go on and on. Thank you to the entire team for such a memorable experience.

My husband and I came to Ellerman House as part of our anniversary celebration trip and we were thrilled with our stay. The location is exceptionally beautiful, the vistas some of the best in the world, the staff A+++ accommodating, helpful, friendly and attending to our every need. Our Deluxe suite was warm and inviting with lots of closet space, cozy comfortable bed and linens, and a well appointed sitting room and snacks and drinks. Everything to make you feel at home is taken care of. The view from our deck was so enticing and the FOOD is truly outstanding and makes us want to stay longer and return. Look no further if you are looking for a true vacation in a Hotel in Cape Town that makes you feel at home. The snacks, the daily food, the dining room service, the house keeping, even the laundry ( gratis) was done beautifully. I would not change a thing about our stay except to stay longer. So grateful for this wonderful memory. We have been all over the world and this is now our new favorite Hotel and restaurant!!!

It all began with the warmest of welcome by Marly! We delighted in the well presented, delicious cuisine and the decadent freshly made treats that not only filled the Ellerman pantry but our tastefully decorated, well appointed, peaceful, spacious and most comfortable room too. Efficient, friendly, personalised service from each and every member of staff, including Chef Gordon, Michelle, Yasser, Dickson and Warren, who all made us feel relaxed and at home. The art tour. with Lindsay, woven in South African history of the largest South African private collection ( a gallery of its own ), was extraordinary. Watching the whales whilst eating breakfast, wine tasting whilst over looking the ocean, a walk down the 500 steps to Clifton beach, recommended by Yolanda, and a night time stroll through the garden all added to our exceptional and unforgettable experience of South African hospitality in the splendour of Ellerman House. If you are looking for a holiday, par excellence, look no further, this is it!

This is like entering your home, but with 6star service and ambience! The location is special and even when all eleven rooms are occupied, the space in the garden, around the pool feels like you are on your own. Service from the Ellerman Team is world class and the art collection around the house gives you that feeling of being at home. A “must” is to visit the wine collection….just amazing. If you want the very best from a boutique Hotel, this really is unbeatable.

We stayed for 5 nights in an Ellerman House Suite and would highlight the following: Location: stunning views overlooking Bantry Bay. About 10mins to transfer to V&A and easy access to both Clifton and Camps Bay. Sitting in the garden, on the terrace, or from your room the sky and sea colours never disappoint Rooms: the House Suite was stunning, again with fantastic views out to see, although we would be confident all the rooms are beautifully presented Food and Beverages: wonderful breakfast served on the terraces along with the evening cocktails and canapés. Dinner menu changed daily and whilst there are fantastic restaurants in and around Cape Town we thoroughly enjoyed dinner on the terrace. Lovely treats in the pantry which are difficult to avoid Facilities: beautiful garden and pool area and we enjoyed the lovely SPA and Treatments, You become mesmerised by the art that is an integral part of the property and it feels like you notice something new every time The Team: they have an aim to make you feel part of the Ellerman Family and they do not disappoint. They get to know you personally without it being too familiar and you can understand why there are so many returning guests. Housekeeping team were outstanding (easily overlooked) and a huge call out to Marilie and Prince (aka King) who as House Managers helped facilitate the wonderful experience and always seemed to be on hand And finally just don’t take my word. It was evident whenever asked where we were staying when out and about and responding with Ellerman House the immediate response was always along the lines of ‘wonderful, beautiful, one of if not the best in Cape Town’. We will be returning and have no hesitation in recommending to anyone thinking of visiting

Ellerman House is definitely THE place to stay in Capetown. Staff anticipated nearly every whim and responded quickly and professionally for all requests. Nothing was left out. The property is wonderful and beautifully maintained. The art work was beyond belief, its a gallery in its own right. The staff at all levels were warm, friendly, responsive and professional. The tour guides, hotel employees, were highly knowledgeable and great to drive with. We cannot say enough good things about Ellerman house and will defenitely stay there on return to Capetown.
