After reading so many great reviews, and seeing how expensive this hotel is (320$+ per night), we were excited to stay at the East Bay Inn.
The location is great for exploring and the bed was large and comfortable. You can get water and soft drinks at reception and there's drip coffee available all day. Parking was free, too.
Unfortunately there were a lot of negatives, which means we wouldn't recommend staying here.
Noise - The road is very noisy, all through the night. We had a ground floor room, meaning pedestrians could look straight into our room from the side walk and we could hear people clearly as they walked past. Other guests in their rooms and at reception, were equally audible at all times of day and night. While the hotel supplies ear plugs, these aren't enough to keep the noise out and we didn't sleep much for the three nights we were here. We did ask for a different room, but the hotel was fully booked.
Housekeeping - We were in our room for about 10 minutes between 10am-4pm one day and so the housekeeping team didn't clean our room. They did remove our towels for some reason. Overall the room isn't clean - dirty under the bed, thick layers of dust on the curtains, dusty and dirty in the corners and in the cupboards.
The bedding is also odd in that you get a sheet, a blanket with quite a few holes in it, and then a duvet on top without a cover on it (you can even see this on the marketing photos).
The reception team isn't unfriendly, but also not warm or welcoming in any way. No attempts at "southern hospitality", everything is very transactional. There was one gentleman, I believe called William, who was very courteous, but the rest of the team seemed to view us more as chore than a guest to be welcomed.
The reception team mentioned that they were "inundated" with booking requests due to Hurricane Milton, but when we offered to leave early and continue our road trip elsewhere to make room for people fleeing from Florida, they showed no interest which we found slightly odd, too.
The bar and breakfast/lunch diner are in the same building as the hotel, but separate businesses. Staff there are friendly and made a real effort to welcome us.
Overall we were disappointed at the value for money, lack of cleanliness and noise offered by the hotel, and wouldn't return.

There is a smell that seems like odor neutralizer that lingers. Someone smoked close to the elevator and it lingered for a few days. Get some commercial rugs by the sticky stuff in the breakfast area and look after the elevator cleanliness all day.

Absolutely gorgeous old inn full of antiques and definitely haunted. It's right on the river area of the downtown with tons of parking, restaurants and shops within a few feet from the entrance. The staff we met upon check-in were so nice and explained everything we needed to know. Prices were really great for April; Savannah is an awesome destination to visit, full of history and very walkable. The room was awesome. I loved the old furnishings, brick wall and what looked like the original wood floor. If you've heard stories about the ghost, I think they may be true. We had a fun lights turned on while we were out prank and I like to think it was Charlie. The room was quiet, had a nice view and was very clean. I found the shower great and the bed was so comfortable. I wish we had booked more than one night there! There are plenty of parking garages with affordable prices in the area and you also get free drinks at the attached restaurants and free popcorn from a local place in your room. Ours had both a microwave and fridge which was a nice touch. Perfect location for exploring haunted Savannah!
