Poor service especially room service considering we were paying $1000 per night. Staff were slow to respond to requests and needed reminding. Not something I’d expect from a 5 star luxury establishment. Very disappointing. Do better please.
Rip off, overpriced pretentious and disappointing

What a rip off! Extremely disappointed and we will never return. We spent 5 nights and booked Garden Patio room, but got upgraded to 1 bedroom apartment, for which we were initially grateful. However, still dissatisfied with this supposedly 5 star hotel, which in fact should he 3 stars maximum. The room that costs circa AUD $900, in fact feels like maximum $300-400. The marketed Como brand definitely failed on this property. 1. Cleaniness of the room was very low standard: all glass was dirty throughout our stay, floors never wet wiped, cockroach in the shower. Also, complementary water supply was not enough for two people. When asked for more, it took staff ages to replenish. 2. Facilities are outdated, pools are dirty. Furthermore, no adequate space for smokers. 3. The pressure to use "local transport" felt intimidating and borderline illegal. When we used Bluebird app and taxi arrived, we sat in the car and immediately were attacked by "local transport" drivers and forced to leave the cab by the hotel security! He informed us that pick up is not allowed by any apps, only their local transport. The taxi driver was scared when they said something in Indonesian and escorted him to leave the street. We literally felt our rights were violated, just so the hotel can make a cut from their transport service. 4. Also, we did not feel safe to leave our belongings near beach club pool as anyone from the beach can access the area with no problem due to limited supervision or barriers separating the public walkway from the beach club. As for lagoon pool, very uninspiring and no enough staff to look after guests. Again, no adequate smoking areas or toilets nearby. 5. Worst breakfast we ever experienced. Literally felt like a cheap motel breakfast , very limited options.

Loveliest place to stay, and great value for money! Hospitality was amazing, breakfast was delicious, rooms were great that had lots of space with nice views. We were close to the sea, pool and restaurant .and will happily stay again and recommend to family and friends!

Firstly it would be good to know that expensive doesn’t mean luxury here - norms of value for money are not appropriate. For a start the first three levels of rooms either have windows that look at concrete or the sky only. The Residences are the first level of rooms either where you actually look outside. The hotel website is spectacularly ambiguous about the rooms because this means nearly 50% of the rooms have no view at all and you shouldn’t know that when booking obviously. The hotel needs some money spent on it, whether that is the lack of umbrellas that work by the pools, the AC that breaks down regularly or the poor hotel staff who are so untrained and dressed in a range of dirty uniforms that you really feel like you are in a back packers lodge. (I should also mention switching the bedside lights on or off makes all the phones in the room ring ). The one saving grace is the view from the restaurant as it is awe inspiring. Having come here for 7 or 8 years now I accept that I don’t have a leg to stand on when mentioning all of the above as I have returned irrespective of the erosion of the hotel but when they must be making an absolute mint on the room prices, we should see some of that reflected in the upkeep of the hotel and staff training. It’s a shame that COMO must think that this hotel is simply a cash cow and so investment isn’t part of their philosophy.

COMO Uma Canggu is a lovely hotel in a fantastic setting right by the ocean. The facilities, including the grounds, restaurant, and beach club, are excellent, and the service is incredibly friendly and professional, truly top-notch. The restaurant offers delicious food, but unfortunately, the last orders are taken at 9:30 PM, making it difficult to enjoy a late evening cocktail. However, the main issue lies with the rooms. I strongly advise against booking the cheapest option, the Canggu Room. These rooms are very small, reminiscent of a hospital or guesthouse, which is highly disappointing for the price. They are located in the worst part of the hotel, lacking proper windows or balconies, and have no soundproofing. For a five-star hotel, these rooms need to be completely renovated, made at least twice as large, and given a full overhaul to justify the price. Thankfully, the hotel manager upgraded us to a One Bedroom Residence with a balcony and pool view (Room 272). This room was spacious and beautiful at first glance, but the furnishings were clearly worn, with scratched mirrors and an overall sense of age. The biggest issue was the strong smell of dampness and mold, which required daily requests for deep cleaning and special candles to combat the odor. Unfortunately, any relief was temporary, lasting only a couple of hours. In summary, while we had a wonderful stay overall, we tried to spend as little time in the room as possible due to the issues. For a hotel marketed as five-star, the rooms were disappointing. It would be great if the hotel underwent a full renovation to bring the rooms up to the level that matches the price. Lastly, the long, stuffy hallways need improvement, and air conditioning should be installed in the elevators.

Definitely do not book the Canggu Room unless you want to be looking at a wall! Not worth the money. We stayed at the Kempinski in Nusa Dua and the Padma in Ubud and for not much more they were far superior. The staff I will say were great at the beach club and breakfast was great however staff in the gym and when I asked about Pilates could barely speak English. Location is great and watching the surfers amazing they just need to get real on their room prices.

This is a truly excellent resort. It is beautifully developed and very well thought out, however, the most outstanding feature is its staff. I've stayed at many great hotels and resorts but I can't remember any that have such uniformly excellent, friendly capable staff. Showing up for breakfast and having the reception person remember your room number from 2 days before is extraordinary! We stayed in a one-bedroom Seaview Residence on level 3, that was spacious, well equipped and comfortable, with a great sea view from the living room and balcony. As a surfer, having a view over two surf breaks, "Old Mans" and "Batu-Bolong" was engrossing. Having Old Mans right in front of the resort and Batu-Bolong a short walk on the beach or paddle from the front of the resort was perfect. The food at the Beach Club and Glow Food was very good and the coffee excellent. I would most definitely return if going to Canggu.

We went to this beach club today. The minimum spend was $150 Australian dollars. We were not allowed to sit on the seats around the pool even though it was costing us more than half the price of one of their rooms. There were two couples in front of us obviously hotel guest. One couple just had water and left around 1pm either to go out for lunch somewhere else or to go back to their room. The other couple hotel guests again had coffee and left around lunch to either go back to their room or eat elsewhere. The point I am making is that we were made to feel like second class citizen even though we spent more than the minimum spend. We will definitely not be returning. Having said this the staff in the restaurant were very attentive. The hotel management can’t have it both ways if you are charging people to use your facilities then you need to make them feel welcome and treat them like any other hotel guest.
