Overall we were pleased with our stay. We came from mainland to enjoy the island without the overflow of tourism.
As a New Englander I really want to make something clear based on prior reviews for those that come from Midwest or West or even the south: New England is old. If you are expecting modern amenities in a 1775 house, you might be reaching a bit. Older New england bnbs and hotels can only do so much in terms of updates. As the owner of a property from the 1700s, I understand firsthand the upkeep and expenses associated with keeping up the historical charm.
Although there's only so much one can do with updates on older buildings like these, the cliff lodge can use some TLC here and there but I would expect any updates to be in April when tourist season resumes and they've had winter to do any updates.
Rooms: We were in a smaller, albeit quaint room #10. We loved the lookout right next to us (deck) and appreciated having a private bath (note that some bnbs on top floors have shared baths). Beds were surprisingly comfy and staff turned down daily which was a nice surprise.
Breakfast: I say this is more of a breakfast of convenience rather than a traditional bnb so do keep that in mind. Mostly bagels, pastries, coffee, oats. Juice---basics. Not a problem with me but some may want a full kitchen experience.

We got put in room 3 which I think is their smallest. The bed takes up most of the room. It had a small AC unit. We were told not to use the ceiling fan because it makes too much noise in room above. Walls do not block noisy phone call from room across hall. Creaky floors. Bathroom so small that at 6'4" I had to sit diagonal on the toilet so knees wouldn't hit wall in front. Shower stall extremely small about 2'x2'. There is a phone number to call if you want to speak to staff. No one around for average breakfast buffet with what tastes like day old coffee. Everything looks a bit "tired". Back door broken, etc.. For us it was premium price with budget value. We complained to owner asking for price reduction but got nowhere. They did suggest that the room could be had for slightly cheaper price if booked directly. Our expectations were for a nice bed and breakfast experience like we have in Michigan. We were disappointed.

There is absolutely no air conditioning so on hot days you have no relief from the heat coming back to the room at the hotel. I got a headache and lethargic. There is also no heat and during my stay it was also very windy dropping under 50 degrees. I’ve never been so cold for a room I’m paying over $500 per night! I would not recommend staying here if either of those things are important to you. The location is convenient and the place is clean but that’s all I’d say is positive.

My wife and I and Sisterlaw recently stayed, our experience was not a pleasant experience at the inn and also our direct communication with the owner of our immediate concerns. My wife unfortunately got very ill day after we checked inn possible covid...
We explained it to host Monica who is hard and compassionate worker for the guest she told us to call or text to the owner of leaving due to the circumstances at hand. In conversation with owner she could us offer us a credit for the off season we did not agree or unacceptable. She the owner was still going to charge us full amount!! After many texts explaining my wife is not well that was Only option owner offered. We have stayed in many Inns and 5 star resorts threw out the world this is Not how you treat a Guest or a lasting impression of memory for Inn guest. There were other options owner could have offered suffice to say this was o ly one offered that we did not take. Suppose a guest felt ill will to heartattack or stroke whatever as a owner in the Hospitality industry your response was no refund, but we can offer as a hideous token a one night during the off season! As guests we will never go back or recommend Cliff Lodge ever ever Again..**.Don't get ill or in a emergency situation that is their Policy! Craig & Michele

We stayed in the Deluxe King on the 2nd floor. The room itself is very nice, big comfortable bed, and great water pressure in the shower. We were very disappointed in the service. There was no daily breakfast basket, and some of the reviews from 8 months to a year ago talk about an amazing breakfast and coffee? There was a Keurig downstairs, store bought muffins, a few apples, peanut butter and jelly packets and a loaf of bread. There was OJ and Milk with some cereal that I tried but both the cereal and milk tasted old. It was just disappointing because for almost $300 a night, I wanted a nice breakfast, otherwise I would have gone to another B&B down the road that offered the same but stated that on their website. I understand it’s the off season but advertise that during the off season this is what you will get. Also mention rooms are being worked on in the off season and the construction crew will start at 8am on weekday mornings you are there. As I said, the room and bed were comfy but I was disappointed with the B&B and for that, I wouldn’t stay again.

We first planned our 2 day getaway to Nantucket (with another couple) in August 2020, but canceled the trip due to Covid concerns. Madelon allowed us to reschedule to this year and rolled over our deposit. Less than a week before our scheduled check in, one of our friends that was planning to travel with us contracted Covid. My wife and I decided to continue with the trip and we had a wonderful time! We took the ferry (without a car) from Hyannis and the Cliff Lodge was a nice 10 minute walk from the ferry dock. They allowed us to store our luggage until checkin, so we headed back into town to rent bikes. We biked all around the island for 2 days and they had ample bike racks available for us to lock up our bikes when we weren’t using them. We also were within walking distance of many nice restaurants, as well as Jetties Beach, so we never needed a taxi or ride share. We had room 6 on the 3rd floor of this nicely decorated old home. The queen bed was ultra-comfortable and there was a nice view. The staff did a great job handling Covid restrictions (masks were required in the common areas of the house) and a delicious breakfast was delivered to our room at 8:15 each morning. They served it on a tray which worked well for breakfast in bed or we could take it downstairs to eat on one of the several small picnic tables outside. They even provided beach towels for our days on the beach. To top it off, they were able to re-rent our friends room so they weren’t stuck with a financial liability to go along with their disappointment with missing the trip.
Thank you Madelon & Chris for such a wonderful stay - we highly recommend the Cliff Lodge B&B!

We had a wonderful honeymoon stay at Cliff Lodge. Madelon and Christopher were incredible hosts. The lodge is beautiful & the breakfast served is spectacular. The chocolate pastries were a favorite! We felt that it was also a very affordable stay on an island of expense. The walk to town is a quick one, and we were able to visit almost every part of the island with the lodge as “home base.” If we’re ever lucky enough to travel to Nantucket again, we know where we’ll stay.
