Our stay at Chateau on the Lake was very disappointing. We have traveled frequently to Branson and were aware that Feb is the off-season, and a lot isn't open. Our main goal was to enjoy the resort and it's spa, and also head into the main part of Branson to do some shopping. A few days before we left, the forecast showed several inches of snow, plus frigid temps. Knowing Branson is a very hilly area, and concerned about road conditions, staffing issues and spa closures, I called the resort. A woman assured me the resort was used to this situation and staff would spend the night to guarantee it would have enough staff. I asked her how long she had lived in Branson, and she said 20 years. She also assured me Branson was great about quick snow removal and keeping businesses open. We have a truck, so we weren't worried about road conditions. We had been assured everything would be available at the resort with enough staffing, so we headed down. We got there and quickly realized we had been misled. Skeleton staff. We had reservations at the Chateau Grille restaurant. Closed but the menu was available if you sat in the freezing cold atrium. One poor server, Madison, who worked her tail off, was very pleasant. One cook. Food was good, not great for the price we paid. Our room was outdated and rundown. Bed wasn't comfortable, huge dents where many bodies have slept over the years. The top drawers of both dressers were unusable because they were broken. There were 2 used towels draped over the shower in the bathroom. The next morning, we got a call from the spa saying no one could make it in so it would be closed. At that point, we made the decision to cancel the rest of our stay and head home. If we had been told there would be even a slight chance that staff wouldn't be able to make it in, and the spa may not be open, we would have cancelled. We knew that the weather might impact out stay, which is why we called ahead. If you experience a similar situation, know that Branson, and Chateau on the Lake Resort are NOT able to handle snow.

I absolutely hate a hotel or venue that tries to fee you to death! Chateau on the Lake is that in spades! I probably should have read, but didn’t truly know the check in time. At the front desk we were told it would $50.00 to check in early!!! I declined to do that. I was also told it would be $10.00 to park in their expansive parking lot! They already charge a resort fee of things we will never use or should be included as an amenity! I went for an Americano in the sweet shop and paid $7.00 for a medium cup of coffee! We had no microwave in our room and my Wife inquired about sending one to the room and it would be $20.00. This is supposed to be a smoke free hotel, but right out of the front door there was a large group of people smoking like freight trains! Everyone can make up their own mind about this, but I just don’t like being gouged with many added fees after you pay a premium to stay somewhere. I also don’t appreciate being overcharged for simple foods and services. I personally would never stay here again! On top of all I have said previously you have to request for your room to be cleaned!
You decide!

We put together a little weekend getaway to Branson. Our trip included lots of eating and a day in Silver Dollar City during the Harvest Festival. We went to see the SIX show on Friday evening which is a must see if you’re in town. Now onto the stay at the Chateau. We arrived about 2:00 on Friday afternoon and our rooms were ready. Such a clean and pleasant experience for an almost 30 year old hotel. The absolute only downside was one of our rooms was right across from the three elevators and you could hear every word, all day and all night. Tip: if they give you a room ending in 39 or 40 ask for something different. We had 539.

I would not recommend this resort for a comfortable and enjoyable stay! The view is great, but that is the only saving grace as the customer service is horrible and it is overpriced! I took my wife here for a birthday week celebration and to see Branson, Mo. First of all, this hotel is a 20 minute drive from the Branson action and is along mountainous curvy roads. It was not convenient to stores, restaurants and shows. Housekeeping was nonexistent unless you had a reason and specifically asked for it. I’m not sure if you would be charged extra as we didn’t ever ask. We had to go to the front desk daily to get coffee for each day. The shower had no hot water! The food in the restaurants was mediocre and expensive. We went to the main restaurant one night and were told we needed a reservation even though there were only 3 tables seated. Their breakfast buffet at $20 apiece does not include any drinks except water. We couldn’t order room service because the QR code does not work. The advertised Deli wasn’t open the whole week we were there? Lack of staff in all areas of service, and security detail! Many times we would call for our car or bell help and would get no answer. When they were there the Valet and bell service were the best of the hotel. A daily resort fee was added to our bill, even though we didn’t use those items.
In summary, this was not an enjoyable week we spent here and we will never return! I think the service would have been better at the many hotels to choose from in town.

I cannot believe how outdated this property is. I’m in shock actually. Don’t believe the good reviews. They are bought. The ones that only have 1 review. Or very few. They are bought by the property. There are a bunch of those that are fake. I cannot wrap my brain around the fact that whoever owns this beautiful spot has done such a disservice to it. Why would you not update this beautiful property? They are squeezing every dime out of it and not putting it back in. How can the nicest restaurant have the worst decor from the 80s? I can’t even get over it. Old gross silk flowers, old pictures, and old tapestries with the oldest furniture. Zero ambience. We ordered the Seabass and lobster ravioli and Caymus Cabernet and had a $350 bill. Nice food for an IHOP atmosphere. It has the potential for a gorgeous view but yet they do nothing with it. It’s so sad. Sad and disappointing are the perfect words for this property. I hope whoever owns this will read this. Please invest in this place. It could be really awesome!

Great overall stay for a conference
We stayed for a conference that was being held at this property. The accommodations were comfortable, clean, and spacious. The staff was friendly and all of the food we had on site was excellent. I would highly recommend this for a hotel stay or conference.

We couldn’t wait to return to Chateau on the Lake this year! The lake view and pool are absolutely gorgeous, and we are happy to make use of the poolside food/beverage service. We had a perfect 11 o’clock reservation for Sunday brunch. The deserts from scratch are amazing! Glad to see our favorite server Yolanda and manager Leon again, Michel at the carving board, and Bill (with two “L”s, lol) at the piano! We stayed on property for a few days… there is no need to leave.
Hate to agree with prior reviews, but it’s definitely time to update the wallpaper and art in the rooms at a minimum. The music at the pool is too loud, choose a room high enough to minimize it in your room, and at first light get seats/umbrella as far away from the speakers as possible (center and close to the hotel.)

In summary, this hotel was very nice and we would recommend it to anyone.
The check in was a bit long as the young lady I had seemed distracted and a bit robotic and not real warm and welcoming. The manager had much more of a “take charge” disposition and more knowledgeable and efficient.
The facilities, including the lobby, room, bathroom, bedding, etc. are all very nice. The view of the lake was also very pretty. The service was good, even though it was an AI voice when calling from our room, it responded well and items were delivered promptly upon request.
We did not try any of the restaurants or coffee shop so cannot speak to those areas.
The only drawback, which can also be a positive aspect about the facility is that it’s a little ways away from the strip or downtown and all the shops, restaurants and attractions so you have to drive to those, but the location also makes the hotel more serene and pretty. We might try staying downtown along the river front somewhere if in the area again but imagine it would be hard to beat this hotel.

The stay was a huge disappointment. The first room bedding had food and blood on the pillows, no.body wash in the containers and room was not very clean but we spent the night anyway We alerted the staff the next morning and asked for a good clean and soap in shower; we come back to our room and there was no body wash, and it wasn’t cleaned by 5:30pm. We asked for assistance and they moved us to another room. Which appeared at first to be better. We dressed and went to dinner; got back and flipped on lights and looked at the room closer there was food in one chair, chips on the floor by the bed, white residue in another chair and air conditioning didn’t work. We slept poorly in the warm room, the second morning we asked to have the air checked while we went to breakfast and shopping, came back at 2pm..room not cleaned and a hand written note on the wrong air conditioner telling us it was working! It was 72 degrees and humid in the bedroom! The staff was apologetic but we had spent over $300 per night for this room and 2 nights of being uncomfortable was enough, so we checked out early. We still paid $800+ for the 2 bad nights! We tried to salvage a day and use the spa but it closed at 5pm for hot tubs! I appreciate the valet staff they were great. The front desk attendants were kind but nothing actually got accomplished after the apologies. We left a day early for my birthday weekend getaway. I would rather not stay another night.
