Stayed at the CAYO last week you will not be disappointed, the views are amazing the hotel is built into hill side rooms are comfortable and offer all amenities you would expect for a 5 star. I stayed in a superior pool view room As I wanted the pool which is the with of the balcony which has a wonderful view . I enjoyed so much ihave booked again. For next year. My only disappointment is the beach is stones and pebbles and can be very tricky to get into sea . The reception area of hotel is very small and can be chaotic when busy with people checking in but staff always acknowledge you when ever you pass by . All the staff are friendly can’t wait to return

We had an amazing time here, I think we just about had the best room in the hotel, room 807 which was at the top of the hotel made easily accessible by the funicular. It was a superb room, lovely views and the outside space was great getting the sun all day, I think others do not, so if I was staying here again I would request this room. If you are after a hustle and bustle hotel this is not the one for you but we loved walking into Plaka and eating at one of the restaurants, it is very low key which was fine for us. We enjoyed eating and then going for a drink at Bar Epico, Elias here was great and welcomed you every night. Elounda is only a cab ride away at 10 euros if you wanted more and then 25 euros ride to Agios Niklaos. One point to add is that the hotel is not the rip off type and we were reasonably priced for drinks and snacks. We ate at the Kelari gourmet restaurant in the hotel once which was fine but really preferred the local restaurants and the fresh fish was second to none. Just read a review on here giving the hotel a one star rating and I suppose everyone is impressed by different things but I cannot say this was my impression of the resort. We have stayed at the Nana Princess in Hersonissos twice now (regarded as one of the best in Crete) and I can honestly say I preferred this hotel for their room and view. Breakfast not as good as the Princess but you are paying a lot more there. All in all we would love to go back in the future.

It has been a while since my wife and I opted for a chill out relaxing holiday, and we couldn't have picked a better place. It was almost Zen like. The pools are stunning with amazing views out to sea and toward the island of Spinalonga, and there was never anyone getting up at 5 am to grab a sunlounger. It was full but you would never know it and you could sit anywhere. It looked empty. Virtually all the rooms have their own private pool. The staff are incredibly helpful and attentive. My wife had a nasty mosquito bite, and one of the pool bar staff Khallia went out of her way to get some cream and administered it. She made a point of asking if my wife was OK every day. The breakfast has a huge array of different foods to cover every taste. The only bugbear was that the only toast machine seemed to habitually break down. Our room was huge. As it is a tiled floor. I suggest that they should be mopped every day. Other than that, the rooms were spotlessly cleaned every day. All the female bar staff around the 2 top pools and in the breakfast area were very attentive and helpful. The small town of Plaka is a 10 minute walk away, and I would highly recommend the Carob Tree restaurant.

Amazing hotel, stunning views. we had a room with its own pool which was amazing. The sun rise over the pool was beautiful and the view of spinalonga was spectacular. The hotel has a good fitness centre and the shuttle bus to Plaka beach was helpful.

What can I say, the CAYO is magnificent , if you are looking for relaxation then this is the place to be, the rooms are amazing and have everything you need, every room has its own pool with outside sun loungers, outside shower and a table and chairs, the wardrobe area is separate from the room and caters for the traveller with the most luggage, it was fabulous ! The shower cubicle was great, very powerful water and 2 wash basins again in a separate area . All the staff from reception to concierge to the housekeepers to the ladies at Breakfast were so lovely, greeted us daily, gave us excellent info on the area , special mention to Yannis the concierge and Margarita at the Ambrosia. We were on a half board basis but as we hired a car we went out most nights but did stay for the Sunday Cretan Night Buffet which was a lot of fun with local dancers and singers, who got everyone up to dance. Food quality excellent, fresh and well displayed. The resort has 3 large pools, it was never a problem to get a sunbed anytime of the day I think this is because each suite has its own pool. Total bliss, quiet music in the background and very good quality loungers, every detail has been thought about, the whole resort is so clean. You do need to be fit as the rooms are built into the hills so if the funicular is not working then it’s a very steep walk depending on which level you are based on, they do however have golf buggies to drive you to and from. We never used the hotels beach as it was very small and the sunbeds were very close together as well as it being open to the general public for a fee. Plaka itself is lovely but the restaurants here are much more expensive than in the lively resort of Elounda which we tended to go into every evening, which has so much choice and a great atmosphere , 10 mins max by car. We went over to Spinalonga from Plaka a 6-7 minute boat trip, what an emotional trip, with its sad history , a must visit if you are staying at CAYO. We would return in a heartbeat, we felt like family and were treated so well, the staff really can’t do enough for you, from parking your car, to cleaning the room twice a day with fresh towels, replenishing water bottles twice a day, the whole experience was wonderful. We have stayed in many hotels worldwide and we both agreed that has to be one of the best for the rooms, view and general hospitality. We came back bronzed from the Cretan sun, relaxed and rejuvenated. Top marks to Cayo your resort and team are wonderful ! Thank you

Room: The room was nice with a great view overlooking the island of Spinalonga. We had the added bonus of a plunge pool, which was lovely. Housekeeping came twice a day and provided plenty of towels and complimentary bottles of water. Upon arrival, we were given a complimentary bottle of wine. Food: Breakfast provides plenty of options for all to choose from. The only criticism I have of the breakfast is that the hot food option really isn't very hot and bordering on cold. We had the evening buffet on our first night priced at €40pp. Again, there were plenty of options, but not everything was warm. Pools: There are a couple of pools at the hotel, and both have plenty of sun loungers and seats to either sit in the sun or the shade. Beach: Although the hotel is not sitting directly on the beach, it is a 5 min walk or free shuttle to the Cayo Stone beach section. Conveniently, this is also right on the edge of the small town called Plaka. Plaka: There are many food options to choose from considering it's really quite a small town. It also has 2 small supermarkets. The people of the town are very friendly and welcoming. Staff: Amazing and very helpful.

We had a two centre holiday, the second week at a wedding in Stalida, and chose Cayo given its location for the first week to relax and unwind. What a fantastic place, the rooms are perfect, light airy, all with the stunning view of Spinalonga. The staff make you feel like you are the only person staying, nothing is too much. All the amenities are set up perfectly, the gym the spa, the restaurants. I did have a slight reservation when we got our room number on the 8th level, and thought this is going to be a fitness test every day, and our host took us to the funicular that glides effortlessly up the hill!! Only a short walk, or shuttle to the village of Plaka. We will be back.

BRILLIANT service in a gorgeous hotel. Felt like all the staff really wanted us to have the best time of our lives. Nothing was too much trouble. Our room was kept spotlessly clean and tidy by the helpful and discrete cleaning team. Dora and the other lovely ladies on the front dress always seemed pleased to see us and gave us great insights for planning our days. Maria and Margherita at the restaurant were brilliant at making our breakfasts romantic, whilst also supporting families with little ones and large groups. It just felt like everyone zent that little but extra. We were told the name "Cayo" means sea rock, and this really came across in the luxe interiors which featured lots of polished stone, poured concrete and organic features. Tiny details like the sparkling lights which decorate the pools in the evening make this one of the most breathtaking hotel grounds I've stayed in. Once all the planting has grown in more it will be comparable to The Sunset Marquee in West Hollywood. We had a salt water plunge pool in our roon which was bigger and better than any we've had in Ibiza. But it really is the fabulous staff that make this resort so exceptional. The blonde lady at the bar made the best cocktails we drank all holiday. When we had a small problem, we were able to talk to the Hotel Manager, Nikos. He made an effort to really listen to us, got to the bottom of the issue and resolved it completely. We left the hotel feeling like we had had the time of our lives. Hoping to come back for our Honeymoon to try out the spa which other guests told us was phenomenal!!!

A beautiful hotel with absolutely stunning views. Has a very new and spotlessly clean feel. The staff were amazing friendly and attentive throughout. The “cable car” style lift was very unique and lovely to use. They have a beach bar which is also great and very comfortable sun beds, with waiter service, which are free for hotel guests. The walk to the beach, beach bar and village is only 10 mins max but there is also a free shuttle that runs all day, on demand, especially if you don’t feel like the walk back uphill. When we booked it in the day at the beach bar, they gave us ice cold water and an ice cold towel while we waited (all of about 3 minutes!!). A true sign of quality. The food in the hotel was good but we ate a lot at the restaurants on the seafront. Many great ones to choose from and beautiful settings. A perfect atmosphere for a relaxing holiday. Would highly recommend CAYO and Plaka

We were regular guests at the Blue Palace, just 10 minutes around the cove. We were anxious about the change. We need not have been. Amazing new hotel built on exquisite design principles, knowing the area over many years, the things you would change / do have been built into the hotel. The views are some of the best you will see. The pools are lovely and what’s the best thing about them…NO 7am sun bed bagging, room for all, at any time of the day. Food and drink excellent and the walk into pretty and under commercial Plaka is 5minutes. BUT…the best thing…the staff. They don’t serve you, they engage with you and enjoy your time with you, which is a big differentiator. We’re going back😎🧿🇬🇷🍾

We have travelled to this area of Elouda & Plaka many many times. We decided to try Cayo resort as its the only hotel in Plaka - what a perfect location all the rooms have idyllic views of Spinalonga too. We chose to pay the small additional charge to have our own private pool too. We chose B&B as knowing the area we knew all the good places to eat & drink. We definately made the right decision as breakfast was fabulous with amazing choices & the addition of other dishes smoothies & specialty coffees made to order. We over heard disappointing comments about the evening meals from other guests so we did make a good decision. The main pools were massive & so quiet often after breakfast I was the only one swimming the pool & often other guests never appeared till mid late afternoon to swim. The free taxi down to the beach was ideal as we were able to have lunch/ dinner in plaka where the local bars & restaurants are fabulous & reasonably priced too. The only moans were the bath towels were very snug but on requesting replacements we were provided with huge white fluffy towels that were perfect. Also we requested a late check & and the additional charge was €200 very expensive & we felt a rip off but we needed the late check out. All in all a fab hotel wonderful setting grrat views & lovely lovely staff we will return thank you one & all.

This hotel was recommended by a friend or we would never have known about it. Firstly the location, a short walk to many lovely restaurants in Plaka is lovely. Plenty choice for eating out. I was worried that the hotel is set on a mountain side with a lot of steps and hills, but with the funicular car that takes you up and down it is no issue. Actually enhanced our experience as you can see the birds of prey soaring above and also the stunning sea views. The hotel is immaculate in every way. We had a deluxe room with pool and sea view. It was the best hotel room I’ve ever stayed in anywhere in the world. The breakfasts are excellent, plenty of choice from fruits, breads, pancakes, eggs, pastries you name it. The staff were all lovely and nothing is too much trouble. Margarita is particularly lovely and took great care of us at breakfast and by the pool. All the pools are beautiful, and never any issues getting a bed at any time of day. People don’t reserve beds here which is a bonus. Even though the hotel was full, it was quiet and peaceful. There is a van that takes you back and forth to the beach area on request which was great. The beach was busy most days but if you are there by 11am there were still some beds available. These are also sold to the public so not exclusive for hotel guests. It’s a stone beach so sea shoes essential but the sea is crystal clear, calm and lovely to swim in. Getting drinks at the beach is very slow but Isla’s bar next door is also great for drinks and snacks if you need a break from the sun. We will definitely return.

We’ve just returned from a week at the Cayo Resort. We had a B&B option, executive room (lots of outside area for two people), which I would recommend. The hotel is stunning, quiet, well maintained and organised, however it would be nothing without the people. The staff could not be more helpful and friendly from Margarita and Maria at breakfast and the pool bar, to all the housekeeping staff who were so friendly, helpful, hardworking and continually smiling. Every person working there we met greeted us. We spent most of the week at the pool but did ventured to the large shone beach area for one day, which is decked, was nice. There are showers there and very clean toilets. The gym is reasonable for a hotel gym. We didn’t use the spa facilities, so unable to comment but they did come around the pool area with cold towels, which was very much appreciated! We enjoyed breakfast, lots of options and we loved the fresh orange juice machine! We didn’t have dinner at the hotel, (although did have a pizza one day which was very good) choosing to venture out to the village of Plaka each evening, we found the restaurants very good and again exceptionally friendly. Lots of different options available for a weeks stay, lots of fish and as a non fish eater I found lots of other options. I would comment it seemed very quiet for late June. The hotel is on a very steep hill, with lots of steps, which was fine for us, but maybe more difficult for others. There seems lifts to most floors , and we were advised in our welcome that if we needed any help the customer relations team were available to transfer people around the hotel and take people from the beach and/or Plaka village. The only criticism I would have is the bed was so hard, which housekeeping did resolve with 3 mattress toppers.
