What a disappointment. We are locals who booked a room at the Cambria on a snowy winter day, to make sure we could get to a medical appointment in downtown Asheville in the early morning. (A major point in our booking the Cambria was that it was advertised pet-free.) We found the 2 Queens room to be very sparse, one small chair, hardly any room light (very dark! there was one light switch that did nothing), whereas the bathroom lighting could have lit up a movie set, no Wi-Fi, and a front-desk person who was so overwhelmed with whatever that it took two calls and fifteen minutes on hold to inform them about no WiFi on our floor -- and there was indeed no WiFi until the next morning when we were ready to check out. This Cambria uses those half-pillows that you have to figure out how to arrange to suit your sleeping style --- which is why I recommend two queens so each person gets four pillows to try to configure. No electrical outlets in the vicinity of the desk! (Who thought of that one!) Valet parking was advertised but there were no valet attendants, so we had to self-park -- but on a positive note were not charged for that privilege. Recommend? I understand things still might be understaffed due to Tropical Storm Helene, but no.

My husband and I are currently staying here because of Hurricane Helene and we have found the silver lining in this awful situation. The hotel is so chic, classy and beautifully decorated. Derek at the lobby desk provides 5 star plus service and has made our stay so much better! He really cares about the guests and goes above and beyond to ensure your stay is equal to the service in a 5 star luxury hotel. We love the location and atmosphere The restaurant in the hotel is Hemmingway’s and has a delicious breakfast served everyday! Nicole brightens every morning and the food buffet is hot and full of delicious dishes. Love the potato option that change daily! It’s very accommodating to vegetarians like us. We had my husbands 50th Birthday here a few years back and it’s a beautiful place to enjoy a celebration! Highest recommendation possible! The rooms are spacious, quiet, super clean and modernist in style. We love watching the sunset from our 8th floor window and suggest the highest floor available!
By far one of the nicest hotels we have stayed in and so happy to know it’s in our hometown city! We will recommend it to all our friends and family! Thanks to everyone who has made our stay so wonderful, especially considering the disaster and recovery we are experiencing. Our beautiful city is fully on display in this downtown hotel!
Thanks again to Dereck who gave us champagne on our 13th Anniversary! A very romantic hotel. All the staff especially Nevaeh has gone above and beyond! We are so grateful.

We have visited the Cambria hotel before, and we loved it; however, this time, we did not have exceptional service. We were without hot water in our shower the entire trip. We also had no water pressure. We spoke with the manager (two actually), and they did send mainteance up within 15-20 min. We left for an hour but returned to, again, no hot water/pressure. We let the managers know again, and they sent mainteance up once more. At this point, we had to leave to make our reservations at the Biltmore. We spent the whole day out to return at 10:30 at night to, again, no hot water/pressure. We went to the front desk again, but no manager was on duty. We asked if we could simply have another room, but front desk stated there were no vacancies. I called the corporate number for Cambira (Choice) Hotels. I got a case number and within 10 minutes, I received a call from the front desk that a room directly across the hall had a family emergency and they had to leave last minute, so now there was a vacancy; however, the room as not clean, and we would have to wait for the room to be cleaned. At this point it was getting close to midnight, and we knew we would be leaving in the morning, so we simply declined. When we went to check out the next morning, we asked to speak with the manager of whom we were promised the night before would be avaliable the next morning. The lady at the front desk told us that he was on a phone call meeting and would not be avialble for a while. She gave us his card and took our information along with the case number I received from corporate and said he could call us ASAP. We never received a phone call from him, and we were only compensated for a 1/4 of our stay. My complaint is not about the hotel itself, but instead its management and the mere disregard of our situation. Our stay was not cheap, and I do not expect that kind of treatment at such a high caliber hotel. Would not stay again. There are plenty of other beautiful hotesl in downtown Asheville; a city that we truly love.
