We stayed there last year and had a great time. Told friends how good it was and returned with them and ended up totally embarrassed. Booked through BA again there was no breakfast available when booking, we were told breakfast would be an extra 40 euros per person! Not good if you just wanted a coffee and Croissant. The mini bar had doubled from last year 8 euros for a water! We didn’t once see anyone drinking in the bar as the prices were 4 times the lively little bar 50 yards away. Our first room was ok until with heavy rain overnight we were awaken with a wet pillow and rain splashing on our faces, the bed side table and phone were drenched, we were eventually moved to another room which was not as nice, carpets were splashed with what looked like bleach stains, not once were we offered an apology or some kind of recompense for a full wasted day! There were previous looking leaks all over the ceiling, you could see from the roof terrace it was obvious here the leak was coming from but had not been fixed. After previous good stays by us and other family members we will not be returning, it feels like they are only interested in taking as much money as they can from you with no customer service.

Beautiful palace. Public spaces are lovely. We stayed in a junior suite that was not clean at all. The bathroom door had spots on the floor ( I didn’t want to know what they were) and were there the entirety of our stay. The linens were of a poor quality. We had turn down only one night, no new towels. Rugs are filthy and tripping hazards. Please stay elsewhere if you have a chance.

Fantastic stay at this lovely hotel. Staff nice and friendly and efficient. Decor and surroundings were excellent. Nice and central location with water taxi pulling up right outside. Breakfast rooms are decorated with beautiful ceilings and is a good start to the day. We loved it and will stay again.

This was actually one of my favourite hotels that I have ever stayed in and we absolutely loved it and Venice!! Arriving via boat and alighting straight onto the hotel pier felt like something out of a James Bond movie. Totally awesome. Quirky décor, wonky floors, amazing views from the bar outside the restaurant right on the river, with even more stunning views from the rooftop bar overlooking the Grand Canal. Hanging massive wall tapestries, a sweeping giant staircase, huge high ceilings and fabulous furniture. Even knowing it’s a 15th century Palace it is still all very impressive. Breakfast itself was wonderful and the breakfast staff were super. We sat in the most splendidly regal room with quiet classical music. As well as the usual breakfast fayre, there were proper cakes for breakfast ¬- loads of them - which we English find a little strange but it was nice to try some. Our room was fine. A comfy bed, good shower, snuggly robes and a cute rooftop area outside with little chair and tables. You sat right amongst the chimney tops which was quite strange, but rather lovely. I loved having the old fashioned turn down service. Not many hotels seem to do this anymore. I thought it was a bit odd that they left you a chocolate beside the TV rather than on your pillow, but no bother. We did have issues with the aircon in our room and it seemed that if you touched the control panel it either churned out ice cold air and turned the room into Eskimo Country or pumped out constant heat. Reception seemed to tell us that it could only be adjusted by them, and each time we had to call them to ask if they could either turn it up or down a notch. This was annoying, but they never minded so it was not a huge big deal in the grand scheme of things. Unfortunately one evening the guests in the next door room, who also had the same tiny rooftop table and chairs stationed outside, sat outside one evening drinking wine and having a loud conversation which kept us awake. Their outside space was just a few feet away from our bed - so you are very close together should you get noisy neighbours. Most of the staff at this hotel were superb, lovely and helpful There was one very grumpy guy on day reception who was verging on rude, but all the rest were fab. One day they did forget to make up our room, but we let them know and they came straight away to do it. The hotel is perfectly positioned about a 15 min walk out of the main square, so away from the peak crowds – but still right by the canal and many restaurants and bars. We even got a gondola tour from the gondola station right by the front door and they also offered a canal crossing service from each side for 2 euros which saves time and energy! We did not eat in the restaurant at the hotel as it was very pricey, but I’m sure it would have been superb. There were lots of excellent less expensive restaurants within easy walking distance. I’d love to return and would stay in this hotel again for sure!

The room was 202, the former 2-story library of the palace. It was stunning. The library shelves are still there and contains a walkway around the upper lever (it is not accessible due to the structural condition of the building). However, only a half bath on room floor and full bath upstairs. The access to the room is almost blocked by the closet so not for anyone who needs full width of a door. The floor is slightly unlevel, but noticeable. A light on the front balcony partially lite the room at night as the shade would not cover the window completely. The air conditioning was either freezing or had to turn off, only to get stuffy. We could not get the thermostat to work. Breakfast is marginal and typical fare, nothing close to a 5 star hotel. Servers were very helpful and kind. Internet service was almost nonexistent. When we asked, it was because too many guests on the service. Also, the sister hotel next door “confuses” the signal. We took advantage of the afternoon lunch on the day of arrival. It was acceptable but caused us to not try the restaurant in the hotel as we were concerned about the quality of the food.

We stayed at hotel Ca Sagredo last week (26th feb – 4th Mar). We had a wonderful experience at Ca Sagredo. When we arrived we were greeted by Niccolla who was very welcoming and professional, and was kind enough to offer us an upgraded room which we really appreciated. All the staff who we met displayed a level of friendliness ad professionalism that is rare to see these days. The hotel has a unique atmosphere that is complimented by the care that the staff offer to the guests. The hotel is situated right on the Grand Canal and it’s an easy 20 minute walk to St. Mark’s square. There are plenty of reasonably priced restaurants and bars in the area. The food at the hotel is of a high standard and the breakfast buffet is very good with lots on offer (and if there is something you want that isn’t on the buffet the staff will make it for you). Our room was extremely comfortable and immaculately cleaned every day. We recommend his hotel.

We stayed here for my 50th birthday in December and fell in love with both the hotel and Venice. We booked through Easyjet as a package. We were so lucky with the weather – bright blue skies every day. Great service from when we arrived. We got there in the morning - much too early to check-in but they got our room ready so we only had to wait a few minutes. It was nice to unpack before we went back out. Our room was on the side of the hotel and you could see the gondola station (we took a ride on the morning of my birthday) and canal if you leant out of the window. We had a large room with separate sitting area and dressing room. It was beautifully decorated – whilst a little old fashioned, it was very much in the venetian style. Very clean and we liked the evening turn-down. Service was excellent – particularly at breakfast when the server welcomed us each morning and remembered our coffee orders. Breakfast was served in a beautiful room with painted ceilings and had a good selection of hot and cold food and lots of lovely local specialities - cakes, meats and cheese. If you want a fry-up I suggest you stay in the UK! A nice touch was the vintage prosecco that was included. The hotel even provided us with a free private taxi to the islands of Murano and Burano where you got a tour of the glass factory and the lace shop. I think they hope you might spend money there but there is no obligation to. It was a nice touch. Venice itself at this time of year was fairly quiet and local restaurants and cafes surprisingly inexpensive (if you avoid the main square). Some great negronis - they don't do English measures! We also loved seeing all the people dressed as Santa Claus on the canals. My recommendation is to book a private water taxi to get there – great experience and we really did arrive in style. Coffee in the bar at the hotel was very expensive so avoid - there are plenty of places just outside the hotel. I have seen previous reviews saying that the hotel looks a bit tired but I guess we would all look a little bit tired if we were that old! We thought it was stunning and tbh, most of Venice is pretty tatty – it is part of the charm of this surreal location. We will be back!

We have just come back from a wonderful stay in this hotel., for the carnival. The hotel is in a great location. Very friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble. Our room was pleasant, and in keeping with 4 star hotel. The room had a lovely private balcony, Slightly concerned about the duck tape in the shower, which I assume was to sop any leaking water. The breakfast was really nice, and the lovely staff, especially one in particular, remembered what we had to drink from the previous day..a very nice surprise. THE HOTEL, HAS SUCH HISTORY, SUCH ELEGANCE IN THE BALLROOM..EVERY LAMP, IS MADE FROM MIRANO GLASS, A TOUCH OF SPLENDOUR. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL.

Good bits first: Location - Easy to get to by water bus or water taxi. Bedroom - Super comfy bed. Bad bits: Very tired old style Venetian hotel. Old carpets and rugs everywhere. Rugs are a trip/slip hazard. Breakfast buffet style and of a very poor standard. Not a coffee machine in sight just some fairly rubbish coffee in a pot. This is Italy, right? Wouldn’t rate this as a four star, more like an average three star. Air conditioning totally useless for heating and cooling. Charge 3 Euros for a small bottle of water in your room. No kettle or tea making facilities in room. If you can get a cheap deal, maybe worth a try but don’t expect a big bang for your buck.

We visited in May with a group of couples. Overall the hotel was nice although maybe a bit overpriced for what it was. We organized a transfer from the airport through the hotel which was smooth although again maybe a bit expensive. The hotel is right on the Grand Canal so the water taxi dropped us directly at the hotel which was nice. Location is good as it’s walking distance to the train if you wanted with luggage and right near the main tourist route although a bit down the street so you aren’t bothered by crowds and noise. I do recognize that a hotel like this in a historical building makes updates and renovations difficult, but the hotel could definitely use some updates to the beds, decor, etc. Finally, our shower did have mold on the walls which was not great. Again I realize everything is wet in Venice but I would expect a luxury hotel to do a better job of cleaning.

What a fantastic hotel. If you love old style grandeur, you will love this place.

Yes it's a bit dark and stuffy and the carpets have maybe seen better days, but I can't think of many places where you breakfast in a room with a painted renaissance era ceiling fit for the Doge. We honestly fell in love with the grandeur this place and the feeling that it represented everything quiescently Venetian for us. On the subject of breakfasts, a good few people here have left negative reviews. Sure they don't provide a full on cooked English breakfast but there were eggs, sausages, bacon and hash browns available. Combine that with fresh croissants, rolls, cold meats, cheeses, sweet pastries and cereal and I don't think you should be disappointed, especially when you consider the typical Italian breakfast is an espresso and a bit of dry bread. We had a "courtyard" room which was very comfortable and overflowing with drapes and expensive fabrics. Very comfy king sized bed. We had a small fridge but after reading other reviews brought our own travel kettle and some mugs for tea and coffee as "the makings" were not provided. There is a great supermarket just down the road for tea, coffee, milk and wine. The Wifi was usable where we were. If you want to use the restaurants, book in advance as it's very small. We didn't get to eat here despite it being half empty but there are loads of restaurants (of varying quality!) within 5 mins walk so not really a problem. Top tip - the Roof top terrace was closed up when we were there but you can access it via a fire door in a cupboard on the 4th floor after a bit of exploring. We spent our evenings drinking supermarket wine out of plastic mugs up there in splendid isolation whilst watching life float by on the Grand Cannel below. It was was quite honestly magical. I'm not sure if it's encouraged but the door wasn't locked :) It's pricy and a bit quirky but I would 100% recommend this hotel.

Fabulous historic hotel. Everything was great from the room to the breakfast and the service. It’s also close to a water bus stop. Be sure to get up early to see Venice before the crowds descend eg before 10am.
