Okay, honest review. We have stayed here before and loved it. They renovated the hotel and asked us to return to experience it. I have to say I was SO disappointed. Reception at main desk was lack lustre, bog standard welcome. The bar staff, bar was empty by the way, were fantastic up until 12.00 am but absolutely terrible after 12. We had been at a concert and wanted a nightcap. They could not repeat the drink we had there before 12.00 and this was 12.15. Based on this experience, I would not go back..sorry

A lovely friendly Hotel with very helpful pleasant staff. We arrived shortly before 3pm and our room was not ready so we went out for a walk and came back about 3.20pm and unfortunately our room was still not ready. We waited in the Reception area for a short time and were told that although our room was not ready another room was ready and we could have that. We went to the room and on checking the room we realised it was not the room style we had booked. We contacted Reception and after a wait we were moved to another room, although still not our original room. This room was lovely and we put the check-in problem down to experience. The room was extremely comfortable but unfortunately we were kept awake during the night due to a plumbing issue noise. Breakfast was exceptional. On checking out we spoke to the Manager regarding the plumbing noise, she was extremely apologetic and was very kind in giving us a discount and assured us she would look into this noise. She has since contacted us to say the problem has not been sourced. We feel it’s a shame regarding this noise issue as otherwise we would certainly have returned to the Hotel.

This was our second stay at the Brooks and we were not disappointed. First of all, it is centrally located within walking distance of many sights, museums, shops, pubs, and restaurants. Connor is an outstanding presence in the lobby to assist with luggage and offer recommendations to guests. One feels welcome immediately upon meeting him. Breakfast is delicious whether you choose selections from a well stocked buffet or or order from the menu. Service is excellent. Our room was large and comfortable although it could have been brighter. I would request a walk in shower if I knew that was an option because the tub was very narrow even for thin people like us. I know the fire code requires the bathroom door be automatically closed but that is very inconvenient. How can one dry thick hair in a steamed up bathroom?

Great Experience - Recommend!
Great hotel, fantastic service, very centrally located (close to Trinity College, Grafton Street). Courteous and accommodating staff. Rooms are cozy, but well furnished. Breakfast was delicious, waitstaff was very attentive. Highly recommend.
Could love this place if the rooms were all renovated. Ask for that and an upper floor off the street. Bathrooms sorely need updating. Good mattresses and pillows. Terrific staff. Great breakfasts served efficiently. Can’t beat the location.

Brooks is well located for sightseeing around Dublin. Bear in mind that Drury Street is a “party” street and if the weather is good then the other end of Drury Street may be a mass of people having a good, noisy time. Ask for a room at the back of the hotel, which is quiet. We had a deluxe room which had plenty of space but a shower over the bath. Our room was missing a fridge but this was rectified. Bed was comfortable. There were signs of leaking on the ceiling and some rotting wood in the bathroom but then this hotel is in an older building. It does have aircon, unlike some other hotels in Dublin in older buildings. We did see a Classic room which was quite a bit smaller but did have a walk in shower. It also faced the noisy street. Breakfast was a typical hotel buffet. The cooked options looked fine. We did not use the bar or have dinner so can’t comment. Reception staff were good but prior to check in, we encountered repeated confusion regarding our booking, which may have been attributable to, what appeared to be, a paper based booking system. Beware. Also, on the sixth floor, the WiFi showed a strong signal but was virtually non-existent, even for simple tasks. It’s a good ten years since I’ve had to go to the lobby to get decent WiFi. Consequently, we went through much more of our international roaming than would be normal. Value wise, our rate was expensive for what we got though I suspect other guests in largish tour groups were getting a better rate. If you can get a good deal, this would be worth considering but if not, shop around.

We had a very pleasant stay in three days at the hotel with excellent and helpful service from the staff. Special thanks to concierge Connor O'Connell who from day one gave us some very good and useful tips about what we should to do and experience in Dublin. And allways with a nice comment. We got a very nice, clean and quiet room. The breakfast was very tasteful and varied. The location of the hotel is very good right in the middle of Dublin. We warmly recommend the hotel and will be happy to return another time.
