Our stay at the Bourbon Orleans Hotel had both highlights and disappointments. While the location and comfort were great, several key issues made the experience less enjoyable than expected.
Pros:
• Prime Location: The hotel’s location is unbeatable—right in the heart of the French Quarter. It’s within walking distance to Bourbon Street, Jackson Square, and Frenchmen Street, and it’s perfectly situated for Mardi Gras parades.
• Inviting Entry & Atmosphere: The hotel smells great upon entry, giving a welcoming first impression.
• Helpful Doormen: The doormen were consistently friendly and helpful.
• Nice Restaurant & Bar: The on-site restaurant and bar were convenient and provided a nice atmosphere to relax.
• Comfortable Beds: The beds and pillows were very comfortable, making it easy to rest after long days exploring.
• Quiet Pool-Facing Rooms: Rooms facing the pool are a great option if you want to avoid street noise.
• Recently Updated Rooms: The rooms have a refreshed, modern feel.
• Good Security During Mardi Gras: Security was well-managed, which was reassuring given the crowds.
• Spacious Mini-Fridge: The in-room mini-fridge was a great size, comfortably holding a few 12-packs of beer or leftovers.
Cons:
• Terrible Water Pressure: The main showerhead barely functioned, forcing us to use the smaller handheld showerhead.
• Unreliable Housekeeping: Housekeeping was hit or miss—some days they restocked everything properly, while other days essentials were missing.
• Short Supply of Hot Water: The hot water in the shower only lasted a few minutes before turning lukewarm.
• Low-Quality Toiletries: The provided body wash, shampoo, and conditioner were extremely poor quality—bring your own.
Paranormal Disappointment:
One of the reasons I was excited to stay here was the hotel’s haunted reputation. After reading reviews about ghost sightings, I was hopeful I’d have my first paranormal experience. Unfortunately, I saw nothing—no ghostly figures, no strange noises, nothing out of the ordinary. If this place is haunted, the ghosts must have been on vacation. Still a non-believer!
Overall Verdict:
The Bourbon Orleans Hotel has a lot of positives, especially in terms of location, comfort, and security. However, the water pressure issues, inconsistent housekeeping, and lackluster amenities were disappointing. If you’re staying here, expect a great location but bring your own toiletries—and don’t get your hopes up for any ghostly encounters!

We have visited New Orleans several times and have stayed at serval other hotels but wanted to try somewhere differnt this time so we decided to give Bourbon Orleans a try to see how it compared to the other hotels we've stayed at in the past.
The location of this hotel is absolutely perfect. It was close to every place we went to. Beds were comfortable, room was clean but small and all the staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
We requested a quiter room because we knew that there were going to be parades and that the street noise could possibly be loud. Our room was on the 5th floor and we heard nothing from the streets but the hallway noise was a different story. People were very loud in the hallways at night and were easily heard inside the room.
We had a problem with hot water and reported it to the front desk twice but for 3 days we got barley lukewarm (NEVER HOT) after letting the water run at lesst 20 minutes.
They have live jazz music every night until midnight which was nice. They do have tables to sit and enjoy the music but had no table service so you have to stand in line to get a drink if you want one.
I would have to say that I love the location for this hotel but for the price of Bourbon Orleans comapred to The Royal Sonesta or Hotel Monteleeone (with little extra perks and a larger room with hot water) would be the hotels that I would return to instead of the Bourbon Orleans.

We loved our time at Bourbon Orleans. We had a junior suite and it was very spacious with a separate sitting area and wet bar. It was ample room for two couple. David the bellman was extremely helpful in getting us a car to the airport. We couldn’t have find a car to get us back to the airport without him. He also met every need/question we had throughout our stay. I would highly recommend the hotel - they provide great service!!

Ugh...I do not enjoy writing negative reviews however this one is very justified. We arrived late on a Tuesday evening around 9PM. The "receptionist" couldn't stay off her phone long enough to pay any attention to us and actually was taking calls when we were trying to check in! We got to our room excited and ready to grab a cocktail and a po-boy! Within minutes that all changed...first of all, we were not given the room we were promised. I went upstairs to wash my face, came back downstairs and my Wife was crying hysterically! She said that she felt a very evil presence. I went back downstairs and was told that if we left we'd forfeit the entire stay and was just told to call the office the following morning! So rude! We called our driver back that brought us from the airport and he explained that we were staying in the most haunted hotel in the Quarter! He brought us down the street to the Royal Senesta which was a great experience! However, whatever my Wife experienced at the Orleans came with us! After a few days of very awkward and unusual behaviour from my Wife I called our guide back and he said that we had to leave the Quarter. He took us to a BnB in the Garden District and I kid you not...as SOON as we left the Quarter my Wife looked at me and asked where we were! She had no memory of the last few days in the Quarter! The rest of the trip was amazing! Upon checking out of the BnB to fly home our host asked about our stay. I explained what brought us to her BnB and she turned pale. She said that many years ago she worked at the Bourbon Orleans and had the exact same experience! My advice visit the French Quarter but stay well outside of it! Once you know that history, you understand. I must add that I've always been a skeptic of "ghosts", etc., not any longer.

I really wish I read the reviews before booking this hotel. It is so loud if you’re on a lower floor - the walls are very thin and music literally shakes the room. Not to mention, we had an adjoining room with a loud family next to ours. The shower wouldn’t get hot, the water pressure is nonexistent, the rooms have no desks, and our sheets were dirty. I asked the front desk if we could get moved to a different room, at around 10:30PM on the night we arrived. They said no. So I booked a different hotel, and checked out the following morning, with 2 nights of our stay unused. They refused a refund, so I opened a claim with my travel insurance. Then, the hotel lied to my insurance, saying we never asked to change rooms. Then, they said we left too late to be refunded. It was a whole mess and the service was so poor - literally hours of arguing back and forth just to get refunded for only one night (from my travel insurance - not the hotel). Please save yourself the money. The Hilton on the river was cheaper and way nicer, and still a short walk to the french district!

Staff was very knowledgeable, accommodating and concierge knows all of the “ins and out” where to be and when (thank you). Our suite overlooked Bourbon St and St Anna. Rooms were clean and daily coffee was appreciated (and needed 😀) and facility was secure and safely entering, walking around etc. Looking forward to returning!

We never used the restaurant but ate in the bar and the food was good. The Live bands in the bar each night were excellent.
The pool was an added bonus.
The Bell men were very helpful and approachable especially Christopher.
