Sure, he added, without big parties or staff harassing you or selling timeshares, this is the definition of peace and quiet in a good hotel. We spent some amazing days in this beautiful hotel surrounded by a beautiful Jungle, we were really impressed by the beauty of this place. Our room has been beautiful, the service very good, on the part of congierge we received very good treatment from Nelly, on the part of the restaurant Mr. Dagoberto served us excellent In general all the staff makes your stay incredible, they have a very particular greeting that makes you feel very warm. Among the things included is the SPA that should not be missed, it has a steam room that is INCREDIBLE The massages and treatments are clearly extra expensive, but totally worth it, Abigail is Sensational.

I would like to start by emphasizing that it was by far the most privateand peaceful vacation I have everhad. My husband and I travelconstantly as a couple, but this timewe decided to try somethingdifferent, giving the opportunity tothis resort. Since our arrival we were received by the receptionists in a very friendlyway, I want to emphasize that wearrived a little late so we were verykind to hurry everything to rest. Theroom is comfortable, spacious andfresh, with a good minibar. Something that I am going to pointout and I agree is that we found itpeculiar that the service to the roomfor food had an extra cost, but wewere hungry so we ordered the foodis excellent despite being roomservice, however we did not . Already, to the important thing, wewere basically a week in this resort, spacious full of lush vegetation, withanimals from the region and mostimportantly VERY QUIET, if what youare looking for is peace, is not tohave people on you, crowds, this isthe place. To think that if we saw alot of people we will never feelsuffocated, we really enjoyed beingable to walk around and above all weenjoyed the beach very much! Wehave spent our entire stay there.
The view from any point wasbeautiful, the beautiful room alwayspointing to the beautiful jungle, everything in this place seemed pleasant to us, the food, the roombut above all the SERVICE, a hotelfull of friendly people willing to serve, it is one of the few places where wedid not feel that money moved thestaff, which we liked very much. Iwould like to have the name ofeveryone who made this holiday sogood! THANK YOU all.

We just stayed a week at this unique resort. We have stayed at many chains; Iberostar, secrets, excellence, sandals to name a few. This resort might be my favourite.
Our room was huge and beautifully appointed in a resort/bamboo kind of vibe. We had two rain showers; a sitting area; a king bed; and a patio facing the jungle that ran the length of our suite. Our suite was in a little stand alone bungalow type building and it opened on to a central patio with about 6 other bungalows circling. This was an entry level room. We had lots of privacy and no noise from other rooms , as we were in our own bungalow. The private patio had a bistro set snd lounge chairs . I saw a monkey and many Coatis from my lounger.
This resort has two main restaurants and the food was outstanding, some of the best I’ve had. There was a good variety and it was all made to order, no lining up at the trough.
We had no issues with air conditioning or plumbing but we did run into people who did.
The activities were very zen. I attended yoga each day and a cacao ceremony in the jungle.
We also saw two crocodiles and many
varieties of birds. It was a relaxing week . If you are looking for a low key resort, this may be it.
They do need to invest in some more umbrellas .
The staff were warm and helpful.

We had a great, relaxing time. The staff was very friendly and the food was amazing. The only thing I would suggest is more umbrellas at the beach. We enjoyed the wildlife and jungle vibes. Not hour typical.party resort but we didn't want that.

I have read other reviews regarding this place that weren’t good, but honestly it was a great place to visit. I have read other reviews regarding this place that weren’t good, but honestly it was a great place to visit. There was a path to walk, it wasn’t very far or there were plenty of bikes to ride as well

Overall my partner and I enjoyed our week-long stay at Blue Diamond, however there were some issues with our stay that I feel are worth noting. For context, we spent 4 days relaxing at the resort and 2 days on full-day excursions that we booked through Viator.
Pros
- The resort is situated in lush jungle and mangroves, with beautiful gardens and a cenote on site. You can walk around and view the cenote whenever you like, but you have to book swimming in the cenote with the concierge at least 24 hours in advance. Our swim in the cenote was cancelled due to rainy weather (nothing we're not used to in Vancouver!) but after seeing it, we didn't feel like we were missing out. We saw a lot of wildlife during our stay, including iguanas and other lizards, coatis, agoutis, raccoons, turtles, crocodiles, and many kinds of birds. We were warned that we may see snakes, but we did not come across any during our stay. There is an adorable and friendly cat that hangs around the lobby.
- My partner and I found our Patio Junior Suite to be spacious, with a large bathroom, walk-in closet, and indoor and outdoor seating area.
- The resort is small in comparison to others we've been to, which felt more intimate and made it easier to get to know the staff and other guests.
- We really enjoyed the food, although I will note that we aren't picky and don't have any dietary restrictions.
- The staff were very friendly and accommodating - any issues we encountered with service were not their fault but rather due to understaffing.
- The beach was lovely and rarely busy. There was some seaweed in the water and on the beach, but not so much that it ruined the experience. We really enjoyed swimming at the beach and hardly went in the pools at all, although they were nice. It would have been nice to have a shower/rinsing area down by the beach.
Cons
- Almost all of the common area buildings/structures could benefit from some minor maintenance, while a few areas need major maintenance. For example, we often encountered plumbing issues with the washrooms near the pool area and many of the tables we were seated at at the restaurants were wobbly. The ramp from the pool area down to the beach was broken and taped off. In general, there is visible wear and tear on most of the furniture and amenities at the resort.
- Regarding our room, there was also visible wear and tear on the furniture and amenities, nothing extreme but it did detract from the experience. Our bathroom had two showers, however the one with the spray handle didn't have sufficient pressure to use and the blinds on the shower windows, which were necessary as you could see into our bathroom from the public path outside our room, were rusting and difficult to use. On the second night of our stay, we received a call from reception that they were experiencing resort-wide issues with the air conditioning system. The staff apologized for the inconvenience, but couldn't give us any information about when they expected the issue to be resolved. We ended up not having any air conditioning in our room for about two days, after which it gradually increased and returned back to normal by the end of our stay. We also experienced issues with our room keycards not working 3 times throughout our stay and had to go to reception to replace them.
- A new resort is being built next to this one, resulting in loud construction that can be heard from the pool and restaurant area. Luckily we could not hear anything from our room.
- The resort, especially the restaurants and bars, seemed understaffed. While all of the staff were lovely and doing their best, we often had to wait a while (30-45+ mins) to place our order and receive our food. Many times we never received the drinks we ordered and either gave up, or had to order them again.
Overall we enjoyed our stay, but I don't think we would return unless the maintenance and staffing issues are adequately addressed. I can imagine that this resort was excellent when it first opened, but it seems that the management is no longer prioritizing guest's overall experiences which is a shame, because the resort itself is beautiful.

The resort was a paradise.
Immediately upon arrival, you are transported into an oasis of relaxation and tranquility. Greeted with cold towels, sparkling juice and truffles, your vacation begins.
The resort is walkable, but there are bikes for transport and golf carts driven by employees as well. As you walk the paths, you will see wildlife, beautiful jungles, and very few other guests.
The beach is pristine. The water is clean and the sand is very well kept. Always a place to sit but get there early to grab an umbrella.
The restaurants were both to die for. We tried both but opted for the restaurant on the beach with a stunning view and a different menu each night for us to enjoy.
We were happy to be served by Raul two nights as he gave an extremely welcoming and attentive experience. We even snapped a photo with him before we left.
Although we did not spend much time in the room, it was definitely a staple of our trip. Very clean. Very large. And very private.
We will come again!

Hospitality 1.5/5: Friendly staff, but housekeeping was unresponsive despite multiple calls. Outdoor couch seats were never replaced, and the hot tub took multiple requests to fill—with ice-cold water.
Spa 1/5: Wrong reservation, service time cut short, and discount not honored. Hot tub was cold, and staff was dismissive of concerns.
Room service 5/5: Staff was great, especially Dave, who provided exceptional service.
Drinks 4/5: Drinks were good, but often left sitting at the bar before being served, even when it wasn’t busy.
Overall 14.5/25: For a luxury resort, basic services were difficult to get, and staff often dismissed requests rather than accommodating them.

DO NOT book this report if you have mobility issues with stairs and/or walking more than a kilometer from the lobby/spa to the other end where the pool and the beach are. Yes, there are golf carts to take you, but they can be few and far between, or not at all.
As many other reviewers have already mentioned, this resort, while beautifully nestled in nature, is lacking basic room air conditioning, plumbing and hot water.
We did not have any room air conditioning for our entire stay. We called 4 times for AC service, but on the last day, we were told as we checked out that there was a "broken pipe", so it could not be fixed. Why did no one tell us this before, or offer to move us to a room that had AC?? Other guests complained about no hot water, so we were reluctant to move to a room that had even more issues. We considered sleeping outside, but there are several animals such as "coatis" like a racoon with a long tail that hunt for food around the patios, and can have rabies.
Our bathroom sink leaked so badly, it made the bathroom floor very slippery and dangerous. Towels were not always replaced everyday.
The staff is great, some are even excellent, and the food is very good. Everything is a la carte except for breakfast where there is a buffet and a la carte.
The beach is beautiful, but it has some seaweed, and there are far too few shade umbrellas for everyone. We did not have one for our entire stay. There were only 9 umbrellas for the whole beach. The pool area has even less umbrellas.
Our room was large and had a beautiful patio with loungers and a plunge pool that was a relief from the sun in the late afternoon. However, we had to call several times to get our plunge pool filled, and the only thing keeping it filled was a rag stuffed in the drain.
The resort also has "quirks" and inconsistencies, such as only ONE bathrobe, ONE chair at the dining table outside, and several electrical outlets that just don't work, and were never fixed. The bed was very firm, bordering on hard. TV and NetFlix is in Spanish. Housekeeping took our partially-filled bottles of shampoo and body wash, but did not replace them. There was no Kleenex. I know, not a deal-breaker, just so many inconsistencies!
Shoutout to Eduardo and Jenny, the best servers who always served us with a smile and kept our drinks filled! Thank you!!
While the Blue Diamond is a nice three-star resort, and we enjoyed our stay (except for the very hot room), there are just too many drawbacks and inconsistencies to warrant a return trip.
We would never fly Sunwing again, but that's a story for another time!

Second trip to this resort.
Very quiet, private and low key resort. We are not aware of another property like this, it feels nothing like other all inclusives, and we have been to plenty.
The resort lay out has intent and purpose, to make you feel part of nature. Moving around the resort, you can feel like it yours, its simply amazing that you are not always around other people. The beach , pool and resturants brings people together, but nothing is crowded, and it is all al la carte. We enjoy great food, two week stay and we enjoyed every meal. Drinks are top shelf, we are cocktail people not so much mai tai orientated, but bar service is as sophisticated as the chefs. Take the cocktail class with Gustavo and Aldo, and Leopold - so much fun. The waiters - they make you feel welcome and treat you to high end service that elevates the food and the mood, Thanks to Rael (or Raul - sorry our notes are blurry from the Royale's and French 75's), Bernabae, and your compatriot whom I have lost his name - we enjoyed your service and conversations.
To the Management - you have a diamond in your hands, please keep it polished.
More bikes, its a huge part of the charm feeling like you are staying in your own private paradise. Air conditioning and housekeeing need some tune up to keep this a top notch destination. Our thanks to the Manager who made his own transport available to get to the airport on time when the private transport we booked flaked. We will back.

First of all the employees are outstanding,Leopoldo at the bar, Fabian for room services and Roman at the Ambar ! Those guys need a raise, they did the best job ever! The rooms are clean and kept well, yes the resort needs a little TLC after hurricanes, but all weeks long ,I saw men at works doing Reno's and everything. The food is great, but not spicy enough for what I love about Mexican food ,but hey again it is an all inclusive and they have to keep the Gringo's Happy (no I'm not from the states,I'm Canadian)The beach was beautiful and well kept (again take a walk and see how other Beach are kept you'll know what I mean)If you are looking for just a place too get drunk and have Beach party's,don't Go there please that's not the place! What we loved about it it's the secluded part, Mangroves, wild animals, tree's and wildlife and relaxation. But on the other hand if we Buy from air Canada just know that the pictures they are selling is about 20 years old, there is no pier or anything, long gone buy the constant hurricanes and weather,( Wich kind a makes sense looking at the beautiful Gulf of Mexico!)And we are thinking about going back next year! With love Room 414!

We had a truly unique fortnight here thanks to the art that has gone into planning and layout of the hotel. It meant we experienced great and delicious luxury in the middle of a jungle; we never tired of seeing wildlife and the TLC staff gave to ensuring we enjoyed ourselves - you see it everywhere- in the meticulous care of the environment and the observation of Mayan culture. The staff were just awesome: Raul, Cesar, Angel, Juverli?(si, si, Señor Sofisticado), Nelly, Juanito, Jenny, Zaira, Eduardo, Dayana, Leo, Fernando, Gabriel, Francisco.,, and the chefs, cleaners, gardeners who work so hard in heat behind the scenes…thank you for tolerating our dodgy attempts at Spanish and giving us the best damn time. Hasta pronto (eso espero)

The Air Canada Vacation site rates the blue Diamond Luxury Boutique Hotel as 5 star hotel. Upon arrival we had to wait for our room until 5:00 pm to check in. Once in the room the air conditioning was not functioning. We requested to have the AC fixed. They tried to fix the problem but were not successful. After several hours of intense discussion and reluctance from the hotel, they agreed to change our room with a proper working AC. The food and service were terrible. Very limited food selection. We struggled to find menu items that were appealing. Any descend food selection was an extra charge. We requested bath towels only to arrive two days later. This is a three star hotel and not 5 star as rated on Air Canada Vacation website.

My husband and I just spend 1 week at this resort. The service there is great, it is VERY spread out and there were golf cart services available, so you don't have to walk a few KM's in the heat to get to the restaurants/beach. The people were very friendly and accommodating. I had a very bad reaction to insect bites that needed medical attention, I called reception and they arranged for a doctor to come on the resort and to my room, when I needed to go to the hospital for further treatment, they were very helpful. The only downside is we had to request a few time for our plunge pool to be filled. When it was, it drained completely in a few days and was full of leaves, no one came to refill it or clean it out. Also, room service cost $20 for each delivery, it really should be included.
The boutique and cigar bar was closed down permanently. The resort must of been so beautiful when new, it is tired and needs some TLC for sure.
We did have a great trip beside hospital visit, sadly I spent most of my time in the room recovering.

The hotel could be amazing, but it would need a lot of investment.
Pros
The staff - they keep this place going. They are all very friendly. Some notables to mention in person - Holly the concierge - absolutely brilliant, professional and can’t do enough for you. Israel & Luis Pat in Aguamarina, Victor in Ambar.
The food - pretty much everything is quality ingredients, tasty & well presented. The soups are wonderful - especially the cream of garlic!
The grounds are spectacular - we saw the crocs, monkeys, iguanas & coati’s!
As it’s a small hotel, you do get to meet some lovely people!
Cons
No shade by the pool - this was a real negative for us, there were only 2 umbrellas available & with fair skin we need shade! Had to get down early (before 7am) to get them!
The pool water is freezing!
The rooms whilst large are pretty rundown, it took 4 days to get a working hairdryer! The air conditioning doesn’t work & the plunge pools aren’t filled! Getting hot water is impossible unless you leave the shower running for about an hour!
Housekeeping - pretty hit & miss, even though we hung the towels as they didn’t need replacing, they were taken & not replaced on most days - had to rely on taking beach towels from the pool! Bath mats, which are essential because of the very slippy floors, weren’t always in the room. No spare toilet paper left in the room! Coffee pods not replenished every day & we only got teaspoons on the last night!
Overall, we had a relaxing break, we went with no expectations because of other reviews. We won’t be returning.

We have travelled to Mexico over 47 times and know what a 5 star resort is . We are now at Blue Diamond Luxury Boutique resort. As per ITravel 2000 website this is a
5 Star resort . There is NOTHING Luxury or 5 Star about it . The food is fair, but everything else is a 2-3 star at best. Housekeeping is a joke. No clean towels given every day. You have to ask for them. Trying to get a towel at the pool is almost impossible. They may have half dozen pool towels for 50+ people. We have been here now 6 days and our bedding has yet to be changed. We had found BLOOD stains on a pillow case and had only got 1 pillow case changed. The water pressure is ridiculous! There is bearly enough pressure to have a shower. If you are fortunate enough to get water, you either have scolding hot water for 2-3 minutes ( wonder that no one has been scolded ) OR ice cold water. Room A/C is set at 20 degrees but it doesn’t get cooler than 24-26 degrees Celsius . The thermostat was hanging off the wall when we arrived, so the maintenance guy came and used some kind of putty to glue it to the wall. It is still loose after the repair. The Toilet seat is loose and pinches your butt. We have numerous times called to repair it. The maintenance guy came and used again some kind of putty to repair it, but it is still so loose. The soaker tub that is outside is a joke at best. It is filled with bugs, leaves & debris. You have to request it to be filled a day before you use it so staff can carry hot water in pails for the tub. They desperately need more servers. The servers are run off their feet and sometimes you don’t get what you asked for as they are so busy and may have forgot you. Apparently there are only 108 guests here. With not being filled to maximum occupancy, things should run more smoothly. I’d be afraid of the lack of services for guests if they really were booked up . The inconsistent water pressure, which is very poor to begin with & temperatures of the water are ridiculousIf. If you are in bldg . 2 or 3 you will get consistent water temperature but still a lack of pressure. We have been told by staff that that the electric hot water tanks need to be replaced but the owners aren’t replacing them. The A/C is a joke! Our room is said to be 20 degrees, but in actuality it remains at 24 - 26 degrees. Maintenance staff have been in our room 3 times & claim all is ok. Sweating while trying to go to sleep at this temperature is NOT a 5 star experience to us. The cost is not cheap and no where near a 5 star experience. Not sure what can be done but we will never return to this resort! We believe it is misleading advertising on the part of the brochures we received on the internet posting from I Travel 2000 website and WestJet Vacations. We feel quite let down by WestJet Vacations rating that this a 5 Star Resort quality. The walk out pier that it presently shows in the pictures on the website has been gone since the past few hurricanes. We would say after talking to people here that have stayed here numerous times that is going to be sold or ripped down within the 2-3 years. Black mold on the exterior walls of the bldg. is not an impressive sight. It’s almost like management has given up on the resort & not willing to clean up the most basic amenities for the benefit of the paying customers.
Numerous issues with this resort :
-This place is run down and the rusted supports under the restaurants and decks are subpar and wouldn’t pass a building inspection if it were in Canada or the US . This place should not be open until they make it safe for the paying customers.
-Cigar bar is not open as was promised.
-The roofs are collapsed on some buildings.
-They are severely Understaffed. No housekeeping has changed our sheets in 7 days! We had blood on our sheets and pillowcase for 2 days before my wife asked a supervisor on the road to please change them.
No stocking of coffee, unless asked for & again you wait for services.
-Food was ok. Service was slow, so be prepared for 1-2 hours for every meal. Understaffing being a major problem throughout the resort.
-No towels for the beach or pool
as they always ran out by noon.
- no pool or pool area service at all
-Boards with screws sticking out & loose boards aplenty, so you have to watch & be aware where you step!
-Electrical outlets & the thermostat were falling out of the walls in the room. The maintenance staff was in to fix the problem 3 times & then used a putty substance to fix the problem to NO avail.
-Bed is so hard, like sleeping on the floor.
-Pillows have a distinct door. Not sure what that is.
-Sliding doors near impossible to open. The corner support post wobbles when you slide the door open & shut.
-The menus items have been getting less and less every time we order. Some days no chicken, pork or beef.
-The Don Julio tequila at the pool bar was NOT Don Julio! It is very watered down. I know a good Tequila and this not good tequila. The Kaluha was also some other cheap coffee liquor in a Kaluha bottle . We heard others saying the same thing about other liquors as well.
- NO yoga, as promised in the brochure that is in our room and I was so looking forward to it .
- No umbrellas for the guests who had requested.Only saw 3 on the beach.
- No Lifeguards or water condition flags posted.
-The noise from the equipment that is being used to build the resort going up next door is horrible . Five and 1/2 days a week we put up with the pounding of piles being driven in all day and the heavy equipment. So don’t say it is a quiet and tranquil resort . Room amenities : minimal at best!
-Top shelf liquors in the rooms : only if you paid for them with a $20.00 fee to deliver.
-Room service : to your door, with a $20.00 fee for every delivery
-Towels are a rare thing to have in your room. Best to take pool towels, if there are any, to your room.
-The robes that are in the room for the guests are filthy. We are certain they have been used several times, not laundered properly, re-tied and placed back in the room for the next guest. With NO SLIPPERS IN THE ROOMS AS PROMISED ALSO .
-The room itself, although spacious and probably once quite luxurious is a bit shabby, with broken blinds, scuffed flooring, and broken balcony railings etc. Furthermore, the quality of the towels was that which we would expect from a 2-star B&B, rather than a 5 star luxury hotel.
-Also, the shower gel and shampoo provided was a cheap variety and was never replaced automatically when it was nearing the end.
-Elevators are so dilapidated, they are not to be trusted. Not being used . Yet it says elevators on their website .
This is no longer a "luxurious boutique" hotel. Just an elaborate extension of the BB Grand Esmeralda. Very sad to say. We will not be back!!

Make sure you get a tetanus shot if you stay here
Air conditioning didn’t work. The water didn’t work to fill up our outdoor tub. TV didn’t work. I got really upset and complained. They upgraded our room. Very pretty space, still no air conditioning. We had a private pool that had water in it probably from multiple previous occupants. Not chlorinated extremely dirty. We have stayed here previously and it was an absolutely wonderful five star experience. This time not so much. All the railings are falling apart. There’s no umbrellas at the beach or the pool to get out of the sun.

We love it here and have been coming here for over 10 years.
The waiters and bar tenders had a great sense of humour.

The staff are warm and inviting, the food is delicious, and the beach is incredible. The pool and chairs nearby are comfortable and relaxing, and you never even have to leave your lounge seat for drinks or food. The rooms are very spacious and well air conditioned, and they even laid out a romantic rose and heart shaped design for my wife and I for our honeymoon. Will definitely return!

Food was great, staff was friendly. Wonderful place to stay. Relaxing. I really enjoyed the poolside drinks and sunbathing. Rooms were clean, drivers available if you didn’t want to walk to the beachfront which was helpful. Great stay, would recommend.
Overall experience was 5 star resort The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The staff was friendly excellent and helpful. Only negatives are not enough umbrella at the beach or pool areas and the food was not exceptional as expected at a 5 star
This is a great place. We’ve been here 3 days. Food and personnel are fantastic, but no air conditioning is just a show-stopper (29 oC in the room is unbearable). Also, someone stole our umbrella at the beach while we were at the restaurant eating!!! I will write a more...

At time the peace is a little strange but is very welcoming. We can not fault the attentiveness and friendliness of all of the staff!! The rooms were surprising spacious and very clean. If you are after a break away from everyday life this is certainly recommend. We have managed to get beds around the pool every morning with an umbrella and have not been disappointed by anything!
