Check in was interesting, front of house were not friendly, definitely had a bad attitude.
The customer likes to feel welcome, which we did not.
The food at dinner was excellent but we waited nearly an hour for our main course and the shrimp and lobster pasta dish didn’t have any lobster. We did get some free drinks but we would rather not have had the issue. Then at breakfast we had another delay and once again it became an issue.
We asked for bath robes twice, which didn’t arrive. Came back from the pool at 4.30 and our room hadn’t been cleaned. Yet another issue!
Positives, comfy bed, lovely view from our room.

We just checked into bakers cay today for a very special birthday and baby moon trip.
We have not been on vacation in a year and are Florida locals. We chose this hotel out of the many FL and keys hotel options because they had a beach and were a very short drive from home with the pregnancy. We also heard such great things!
We were incredibly disappointed when we checked into the hotel today and found out our junior suite faced the parking lot (yikes!). The room we booked had mangroves off the balcony and was extremely misleading.
Had we had known they would’ve put us facing a parking lot for one of the most special trips/moments in our life, we would’ve gone elsewhere or booked a different room. After spending hours on the phone, and a brief conversation with front desk staff they were very dismissive and told us they were fully booked. Completely disheartened by the treatment of the hotel, and can’t say this is a spot worth visiting for Florida locals or couples sharing a special moment.

Parts of the stay were nice. We had a fun bike ride, and the beach was nice. Much was disappointing given the high cost. The food was very average, the top of the line suite was ok- but the phone wasn’t working the bath tub had hair in it and we didn’t have shampoo. We had to ask 3 times for the tub to be cleaned and got the shampoo by eventually tracking down a cleaning person. Our $1300/night suite was right next to the elevator machinery, so noise was an issue. I would have thought it was a decent value at half the cost.

Nice Resort With Kinks To Work Out
Nice resort for a quick getaway but they have some issues. Took 1 hr and 20 min to get our lunch. This happened the next day as well. Ate in one of the restaurants, also a long wait and small portions! The resort is understaffed at the front desk too!
Loud, loud all day and night!
Although at first glance it appears a luxury resort, think twice unless you are looking for unrelentless loud noise all night. It’s a party, wedding, loud children party all night place. The insulation is nil and every sound echos through your room like you are in a war zone. If...

If you are looking at photos, then yes, the exterior buildings look a bit rustic, but not rustic in a bad way, but rustic in a true Florida Keys kind of way.
Key Largo is worth a visit, and staying at Baker's Cay Resort is the way to be there!

This was our second visit to this lovely property and we were charmed once again. We stayed in a waterfront room in the Coconut wing with direct view of the beachfront. The property is large with plenty of different places to hide away. The mangrove beach is quiet and feels very secluded. If you want a more lively vibe- the tiki bar at the waterfront beach is for you. My personal favorite is the adults only pool with waterfall and the view of the resident iguanas who sun themselves daily on the rocks over the waterfall. The Dry Rocks restaurant serves great pizzas and casual food. We were a bit disappointed in Calusa this year but the open air dining is still very lovely. We are already contemplating returning next year. Special shout out to Jermaine at the pool bar. All of the staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming.

The resort is wonderful with all the fine touches and such quick trip from the FLL or MIA airport. Resort is cashless and all is done via a wristband with a QR code eliminating the need to carry credit cards or room keys. Every evening, they offer champagne free of charge for an hour prior to sunset. The pier has an absolutely gorgeous sunset view. The resort has two wings: Coconut and Hammock. In term of rooms, the basic Junior Suites of the Coconut wing overlook the parking lot and the Hammack wing overlooks an open air "park" of sorts where various events are held. The Coconut wing waterfront rooms over look Coconut beach. Water views are gorgeous but there is activity below from the beach, tiki bar, etc. The Hammock wing water front overlooks a mangrove area and is very private and secluded but, direct views of the water are obscured. Coconut Beach has plenty of direct sun chairs as well as a full shade area under the trees and also, chairs with umbrellas. There are floating docks, paddle boards, other water toys to enjoy. Hammock beach is tucked in and among the mangroves. It is quiet and secluded. It was lovely to have the choice of the more upbeat tiki bar/music vibe and the quiet private beach just listening to the water. The restaurants are both lovely with a variety of options...note: gratuity is automatically added. We will definitely be back.

The physical plant has jumped the shark.
If i were Hilton id probably fire the person in charge of the curio collection brand for keeping this property unless the curio collection is just a more inferior brand than I expected.
The only thing I'll get into is noise in the room. Sounds from outside the room on the inside is loud. The doors on all rooms slam shut all day and most of the night. It literally shakes the walls.
If you cannot provide a decent night sleep or the ability to relax in your room you do not get past one star from me.
This is really the lowest bar that needs to be met and they don't achieve it. And for the prices they charge, it's criminal.
You've been warned

Baker's Cay was the perfect 3 night getaway! From the QR coded key bracelet so you don't have to worry about losing your room key to excellent customer service and delicous, plentiful menus, I highly recommend this resort. There are many options for lounging either at the beach, under the mangroves or by the pool and turf lawn. My one issue is people who reserve chairs for hours before sitting down which is probably due to the self-serve towel service and no one monitoring the chairs per se. (This is an issue at many resorts which needs attention.) The rooms are comfortable and the bathrooms are well appointed. My one suggestion is the addition of a magnifying mirror. We found the waitstaff to be exceptional; every one we encountered made it their mission to make your happy. We look forward to staying again in the future.

Just returned from 2 nights at Bakers Cay in Key Largo, FL! Figured I’d leave some thoughts in pro/con form. I used a FNC and points to cover half the stay (plus 90k pts for the other night) and got the “king hammock view room.” Booked a few months in advance and despite it being right around the New Years holiday, was glad to have been able to find standard room award availability.
Pros:
-good location being about a 2 hr drive from Miami/FLL. Not the quickest airport drive by any means, but certainly doable and nice to have more than one airport option (we actually drove in via Key West, where we started for a few days, then continued on to FLL)
-has decent sized beach area (private for just hotel guests) with some tree/umbrella-shaded spots for those who don’t want to be in the direct sun
-we were celebrating a special occasion and they left us a fruit platter, OJ, and rum upon arrival-nice that was recognized (I’d emailed in advance)
-decent sized room with king bed, pull out couch, and small patio with chairs
-separate kid/adult only pool areas
-a lot of programming/activities offered for both kids and adults-very family friendly! We played bingo on the beach one day (didn’t win but there were prizes) and they had s’mores at night
-$36 f&b credit per day (I think this was due to my gold status?) and no resort fee (I think because I used a FNC and points to cover the stay?)
-dock on site for those who want to fish (and you can actually have your fresh catch for dinner if you want, a unique feature!)
-water sports offered on site (kayaks etc)
-have a concierge team that was relatively responsive via email and answered questions in advance of our visit
-front desk was responsive via text throughout stay
-lobby/beach/pool bathrooms were all very clean/tidy
-cute coffee cart in lobby for quick grab and go coffee drinks (replaced with ice cream sundae and cotton candy cart at night); not complimentary but nice to have available
Cons:
-uncomfortable beach chairs (not padded) (nitpicky I know)
-food overpriced (not surprised) and everything already had a 20% tip added
-sluggish Sunday "Flamingo" brunch service with several items wrong (dinner service had been much better)
-no room upgrade despite special occasion I’d emailed about (wasn’t expected ofc, but would’ve been nice extra touch!)
-room was missing robes upon arrival so I had to text front desk to request (no slippers provided)
-front desk didn’t provide water bottles upon arrival as they were supposed to (went back later to get them myself)
-the pool is kind of awkwardly separate from the beach area (it’s actually on the other side of the parking lot closer to the highway)…this was temporarily a pro when the beach was very windy and cold one morning so it was good to have a less windy spot to read at, but on the whole, I think it feels disjointed being designed this way and kind of offputting being so close to the major roadway IMO
-front desk warned us at check in that they charge $20 for each beach towel that’s not returned…idk if they actually stick to this or if it’s just to scare guests into not abandoning/stealing towels…in any case, they have these “vending machines” to get/return towels which is pretty easy
-charged for parking (not surprising and it was only $10/night…could’ve been worse) but easy to come and go whenever
-ordering food/drinks by QR code at the pool didn’t work; had to wait and flag someone down (also very limited pool menu)
-guest room doors were very loud and would slam and shake the walls of the rooms nextdoor
-despite having a room technically facing the ocean, if you’re on level 1 or 2 (in the Hammock wing anyway) and not above the tree line, you will just see the trees and not the actual water beyond. The trees are lovely but definitely request a higher floor if you want to see the water. Wish we’d been upgraded to a higher floor or I’d known to request that ahead of time!
-like many resort properties, there’s definitely an issue with people placing belongings on beach chairs and then disappearing for hours, leaving others struggling to find a chair. You’d think their charging for unreturned towels would help limit this…but it did not and plenty of towels were just abandoned on unoccupied chairs
-limited chairs by pool-it's just not a huge area/doesn't have a lot of space for extra seating; gotta get a spot early or pray someone is leaving soon!
Overall:
I wouldn’t rush back to stay here again, but for a quick 2 nights in the upper FL keys it was definitely a good option. It wasn’t the most luxurious Hilton property out there, but it seemed like one of the nicer options in this particular area esp if wanting a private beach. We weren’t traveling with kids but I can see how all the programming would be helpful for parents wanting to keep kids entertained. I think it was a decent use of a Hilton FNC and pts, at least over the holidays when cash rates are elevated everywhere anyway. The food wasn’t particularly memorable but it’s easy enough to leave and dine elsewhere nearby. The room was comfy and clean and modern, just be aware some rooms will have better water views than others.
Happy to answer any questions!

Exceptional service at Bakers Cay
During our stay here at Bakers Cay we had exceptional meals as well as service, particularly at Dry Rocks with Cristina and Justin at Calusa. They both had a special way of being both attentive and welcoming while personalizing our experiences each time we went.

Travelled to Miami and The Keys from the UK and this was one of three ‘resorts’ we stayed at in the Keys, the other two being The Marker in Key West and Cheeca Lodge in Islamorada.
We booked a Suite in Coconut Wing, but were ‘upgraded’ to a corner suite next to reception in Hammock Wing. The rooms are spacious and quite nice (hence two stars) but that’s where it ends. Every day we were there, areas were closed off due to weddings. Service is unbelievably slow at the beach (bar and activities). So much so, we cancelled our order. Reception staff are OK, but no warm welcome or welcome drink (which we got in the other two resorts). Barely any activities or facilities for the ‘resort fee’ (I hate this about US hotels - charging people for WiFi and water and pool towels is not cool, especially given the room rates). Cheeca Lodge was FAR better value for money in this regard.
Main issue was noise. Shocking. We had noise from the lift opposite, delivery trucks reversing through the night, staff trundling trollies past the room at all hours, kids banging on our door and running away late at night, piped music from the main building that seemed to be playing 24/7, noise from the room above. It was awful. We did complain on check out any they waived the bill, including the resort fee, which was appreciated but it spoiled the last two days of our holiday. I so wish I had have booked the hotel next door (Playa Largo).

Lovely property, horrible sleep. The walls in this resort are paper thin and the noise transfer was awful. Probably the worst sleep I've had in years. If come here again nust to enjoy the beautiful beach area and the mexican restuarant , but wouldn't want to stay overnight again.

The only thing you need to know about this resort is that EVERY room adjoins another and those adjoining doors are ridiculously thin. If you are family (and this place mostly caters to families) who needs two rooms then this is perhaps a plus. For a couple like us, we got to enjoy a young man throwing up repeatedly after drinking too much and women yelling at him for his behavior. After they checked out, we got to hear kids crying and watching TV.
For this price point, couples can do way better.
Also, a note to management— the coffee situation is ridiculous. The in room machine is fake keurig ten years behind the times and making us trudge to the main restaurant and wait forever is unacceptable.

Good hotel ground, mixed level of service, some very nice, and some was just rude, overpriced, and beware of overcharged.
A short two nights stay. The hotel was demanding almost $1000 a night so we were not sure what to expect. As we pulled up to the valet, no one was there to help with valet or luggage, so we brought all our stuff down and self-park. There were plenty of spots even on a busy day.
The front desk was very busy around 3pm, and we waited for 15 mins. I was informed that our room was not ready and handed a beach towel card. It was a long day, and we were exhausted so we found a spot on the beach to lay down and wait. While waiting we found Lisa, the nicest person on the property handing out complimentary drinks. Not until 4:15pm that the room became ready, a bit past the check-in time, and no Diamond upgrade and we got Hammock Ocean View as booked. The view was mostly blocked by the trees and we can only see a bit of ocean view above the tree line while standing.
The hotel has several beautiful beaches, laid-back vibes, a boring isolated pool area, and several free activities. We tried fishing in the morning which was pretty cool as we saw some nurse sharks and a hammerhead. Also went for a paddle boarding bit before 4pm, but the rental place was already closed. We dined in the hotel restaurant, Calusa, for dinner twice and it was good. It's reasonably priced for a hotel, unpretentious, solid wine by glass selection, and the food was delicious. Service was also friendly but could be a bit more attentive.
Upon departure, the check out process left a sour taste in our mouth. We were overcharged by over a hundred on unrecognized Tiki bar transactions. It's totally fine, but the way it was handled was just horrible. The front desk was clearly frustrated, kept questioning me on the activities on the day of the charge, instead of checking the receipts. It took them over 15 mins to clear it. They made it right at the end but not a single word of apology. She even mentioned if they found the evidence of the transactions they will add the charges back on the card later. I'd have rated this hotel 4* if the situation was handled better.
