We spent a wonderful week at the Bahia Principe Grand Tulum in February 2025. We found the tips on Trip Advisor very helpful so thought we would include our own experience. The staff all over the resort from front desk to restaurants were very helpful and friendly. It was all very positive. We stayed in villa 4200. We would recommend something in this area, if you are looking for a quieter area to relax. The quiet pool was nearby along with the best section of the beach at the resort. Just request one of the villas close to the quiet pool. There was excellent snorkeling if you walked to the left on the beach. We are beach people so enjoyed this area. It was quiet and never an issue to get beach chairs. There are washrooms and a bar at the quiet pool so it was all very convenient. We enjoyed the buffet and 3 of the restaurants while we were there. If you have problems booking on line when you get there for the al la carts, see the staff at the guest services, they were helpful in getting us booked into 2 that appeared to be full. If you book excursions from the resort, be prepared there will be cash required as a tax on top of your excursion fees. As this is a eco friendly resort, there are lots of interesting wildlife about. They are very harmless and add a natural theme to the experience. Landscaping was beautiful and they seemed to be using native vegetation. As you can also use the Coba resort next door, they had eco tours and we went on one while we were there of birds in the area. The guide was very knowledgeable. It was a very relaxing and enjoyable vacation, and we would recommend this resort to others.

Bring your own pillows cause the ones in the room dont have much to them. Fridge isn’t working either. No outlet to do hair in bathroom . Anyways here we are again I think it says we have been here 7 times now. The last 2 trips we were spoiled with an upper unit with a view which has blown us for expectations. This time we are in a bottom floor unit showing alot of wear everywhere you look, time for some touch ups people. Day 3 we came back from a day a pool and we were relaxing and all of a sudden water starts to flood in from the ceiling light fixtures in the bathroom. Cant use the phone to call the desk cause no instructions there, tried what we know. Used the app to notify and ran to the front desk in a panic. Sitting here now waiting 30 mins… drip drip drip… Stay tuned…

We have been to Bahía Príncipe resorts 7 times before but this was our first time at Tulum. We went February 8-16 and had a fabulous time. I seriously cannot find anything wrong with this place except the beach is very rocky for swimming until you head up towards the Akumal section. We were booked the basic room we first checked I asked Camela if we could upgrade and she put us in building 1 with the new rooms and we had a beautiful view of the ocean. Building 1 is a close walk to the main pool, lobby and beach. We loved the location. The main pool is large and awesome. We love having the soda pop machines and flavored cold waters all day with the great mix d drinks at the pool bars. We also liked going to the fun section of the pool for foam party and daily aqua aerobics. In the past we booked Akumal and had a la cartes every night and for 9 days we got 4. I was good with this because I wanted to try buffets at night. Don Pablo was great, Le Gormet was good, Brazilian steak house good, but the Indian restaurant was superior! Not only was the food fantastic the service was incredible. Azeal was a great hoist explaining foods and Leonardo our waiter was there every second. His personality and attentiveness was amazing. We always go to Coba some mornings for breakfast because the nicest wait staff ever is still there from over 15 years ago. Andrea and Karina. We love them and they are a big reason we always come back. They are good friends to us. A lot of people complain that you cannot get good quality drinks anymore unless you pay but I got Jack Daniels all the time and several high quality Tequilas. My wife liked thier version of Malibu rum and I liked their version of Baileys. At the lobby bar the drinks were excellent. Try chilled Alcavero tequila shots, excellent! We had Mexican Guinness shots, mini beer shots with cinnamon, and Scooby shots. Every couple of days they had a specialty bar set up with a bar tender making exotic cocktails. They were awesome. I love their Mango margaritas on the rocks and my wife likes the Passion Fruit margaritas blended. The last 3 days we upgraded for the bracelets to use Akumal beach. We also went to sian ka'an for Gala night buffet but I was not impressed with their quality. So if you don’t care about a beach with no rocks there is no reason to upgrade your wrist bands. Tulum and Coba buffets were great. We will definitely be coming back to this resort. The staff makes this place so special everyone is very friendly.

After booking our holiday, I started to read some negative reviews that very nearly got me running back to the travel agent to change our hotel! So glad I didn't! We have just returned from this lovely hotel and had a fabulous time. All the staff are friendly, helpful and can't do enough to help. The food was great- those who say the buffet is repetitive must be very picky eaters! There was always Mexican, an oriental section, pizza and pasta section, always a whole grilled fish or large joint of meat, always grilled meat like chicken or pork, a Japanese section, a chef special, loads of salads... I could go on and on... We were there ten days and never got bored. We really enjoyed the breakfasts and had something different everyday. Tropical fruits, yogurts of every possible variety, smoked salmon, bacon, all varieties of egg, sausages, delicious pastries ...I was particularly impressed with the chef who is responsible for the bakery! The a la carte restaurants were incredible and I had no problem getting reservations before we arrived and even changed one when we were there. Yes the room smelt damp when we first arrived, but we put the air con on and within half an hour it was gone! The room was clean and tidy and our view across the palm trees to the sea was great (and we didn't book a sea view!) My only criticism, the bed is hard and even with a mattress topper, my other half was uncomfortable. The pools are super, cleaned everyday and it was never a problem to get a sunbed. The drinks were great, not watered down in our opinion. We walked along the whole beach and yes, in parts, beach shoes are useful, but by the quiet pool it is lovely and sandy. One day I walked along the beach and was paddling with a manta ray! The next day taking photos of pelicans. Yes there is wildlife around the whole site, but for us that was part of the charm of the place. We have had a fabulous holiday at this hotel and hope to return one day.

From our check in to check out everything was excellent. i have to give Rafael at check in and Caesar one of the bellmen a super thank you for your excellent service. Food was good , room was very comfortable and clean. had a wonderful time and will be back. Had no issues whatsoever. Our second day there we were approached by the privilege club reps and we politely declined they were very polite and gracious and did not pressure us at all. We saw them occasionally during the week and they were always nothing but friendly and even helpful if we needed directions or other information. Thank you to Angie and Sexy Chocolate.

Hotel has good points but can improve in many others. Pros: Everyone is very nice and food is good especially in specialty restaurants. Buffet is not bad, staff is attentive, but it can be a mad house. Food becomes repetitive after a few nights. Cons: Rooms are outdated and have a musty smell which we can still smell on our clothes even after getting home. We were supposed to be in a renovated room, but it did not look renovated at all. Needs a refresh. Only 2 reservations permitted for 5 night stay. Would be nice to have more access to specialty restaurants. Those were our favorite as the vibe was so relaxed, service excellent and food very good. Would probably not go back to this resort.

Our 6th stay at Bahia principe resort. We have been to all of them but stayed in tulum again this time. Our last time was pre pandemic so we wanted to see how things were again. We still love it here, my husband loves the easy and free access to snorkeling and i love a long beach to walk on, and a palapa by the ocean. While we think the price has increased a bit too much for this resort we still would come back. All of the staff were wonderful. Here is a breakdown Arrival/departure -smooth, used Canada transfers for the drive (highly recommend) , we checked in via the app before and it worked well (you do have to put your passport info in fyi). Easy check in at the resort as we didn't come with a bus so no one in line. Help you with wifi setup which was nice. They did forget our silver membership bracelet, so if you are a member remember to ask. Room - we had one of the newer ones, the room was always kept clean, and mini fridge stocked but we did tip everyday. Sheets clean, fresh towels everyday. My critic- whoever designed it doesn't use these rooms. No fan in the bathroom or shower which leads to mold growth that a maid would not be able to keep up with. Not the maids fault but a design and company flaw. Bathroom is open concept, the toilet area does have a glass door but with a motion sensor light only in the bathroom with a 10 sec timer(really annoying). Do bring your own lotion as not provided, only shampoo and body wash in the shower. No soap or face towels in our room on arrival but requested on the app and delivered right away. The beds are hard if that is a problem for you. Air conditioning- they are definitely trying to save money here. In the room you can't get it below 21c (for sure not a real 21) and It is always a bit humid in the rooms. So if you run hot, beware. They used to have air conditioning in the restaurants but it's minimal at best. Only place that has a/c is the oxxo in the Plaza. Food- we always enjoy our food here, plenty of selection, every meal i had my plate loaded and wanted to go back for seconds. The waiters are great, jesus and neyvi in particular. Yes the temperature of most food is lukewarm at best but it is a buffet for 1000s of people so take that into consideration, they do have a microwave if needed. If something is empty, just go back a second time and it will be there. My only complaint is people don't know how a buffet works, just mayhem, please respect others. Reservations at the al la carte we did on the app 10 days ahead, no problems. We did tequila (get a tequila boom boom shot or special flame coffee) and le gourmet. Both highly recommend and the chocolate lava cake at le gourmet is top notch 👌. Men you can wear nice shorts to le gourmet, no need to sweat in pants. Beach and pool They definitely have something for everyone here, a quiet pool, a party pool, and a kids pool. Same with the beach, enjoy no waves then go to the coba beach, enjoy waves head to the quiet pool beach. Something for everyone with lots of chairs and palapas. Of course the pool ones tend to go quickest. We mostly stayed at the quiet pool and victor the bartender was the best. Entertainment - i feel like this has improved since we were last here. More nightly singers at every resort. you have to try the silent disco ,it is a blast.

Ist off let me say I have never done a review before but feel I have to in this case. I have stayed in Mexico 6 Times all at Playercarr and it’s been great but if you are thinking of staying at this hotel and are adults think again. The complex is vast and great for children but greatly understaffed you queue for everything. breakfast when you are eventually seated after queuing then wait for cups cutlery coffee then it’s hunt the tea spoon the beach bar is tiny so you have to queue for drinks or coffee queued for twenty five minutes for coffee only to be told they had no milk😡 same in the lounge bar at night constantly queuing for drinks long walks to the lobby and restaurants they have little buggies to run you about but are often full. The beach is very rocky and full of broken coral so you need beach shoes.rooms we were given were a little dated but clean and spacious but on the 3rd floor dispite having bad knee problems could not be changed there are no lifts anywhere.there is a late night food station but it’s full of raccoons that will jump on the table and steel your food this is the fault of stupid peaple who dispite being asked Not to do so feed them. I’m sorry if this all appears negative but it’s to make people aware of the problems that there is with this report .

This was our 6th trip to Bahía in Tulum- if that doesn’t say enough! From the natural beauty ocean and gardens- stunning eco friendly resort. Beach is clean and snorkeling is priceless- the plants here are remarkable. The food is amazing and plenty of variety- meals are beautiful! The buffet and service is spot on. rooms are spacious clean and comfortable with fresh stocked fridge and our maid that took such special care of all our things. The staff everywhere is helpful and friendly- allowed some grace on my Spanish. We experienced the spa - finally which was another amazing treat. Entertainment and activities throughout the day- with no reason to leave! I could go in for hours on this resort- it has never disappointed. We also have been to Coba- sister resort that you share access too and all the things apply there as well. Cannot wait to come back again next year! I’ll be counting the days.

We stayed at Bahai Principe Grand Tulum from February 25 to March 6th 2025 (10 Days). Accommodation (Rooms) were excellent. Very clean, bright, washroom was clean, good water pressure and instant hot water. Food was very good (you won't go hungry) smorgasbord had good variety (deserts could be better), pretty much the same every day. Breakfast (my favorite meal) was excellent. Eggs done anyway you asked for, crisp bacon, sausages, potatoes, good variety of cereals for kids, fruits and juices. A-la-carte restaurants are nothing special so don't worry if you can't book. If you do book, do it as soon as you get there or you won't reservations or if you do, the times will be very late. We found Mediterranean was the best with Don Pablo and Tortuga good but not great. Pool area is excellent. Lots of chairs but the best get taken early. The Beach area is Poor. Very rocky (coral) and the sand is littered with sea weed and the water is generally dirty (silty) and not good for swimming. There is a better beach at Akamel but it is very small. Entertainment is Excellent. Very professional. Bars are good. (no shortage of alcohol) but different Bar Tenders have different ideas on how to make some drinks. You may have to explain to them how you want your mixed drink made. Beer is no problem. Generally the Resort is very nice, well kept grounds, very friendly and accommodating staff. There are actually 3 Resorts all connected by trolley (Akumal, Coba and Tulum). If you stay at Akumal, you can use any of the services at the other 2 Resorts, but if you are at Tulum or Coba, you can not get Bar Service at Akumal unless you are very persistent with the Bar Tenders. There are a lot of animals roaming freely around the Resort (Iguanas (some very large), Coatis, which look like a cross between a racoon/monkey and Ant Eater, Racoons and some other marsupial which looks like a cross between a rat and a ground hog. There is a sewage/swampy smell at times in some areas of the Resort (mainly the back units). Not sure why but try to get more central or front units if possible. We have been to Bahia Principe Resorts in Jamaica twice and in Mexico twice and they are generally 4 Star Resorts. We would go back again.

We were the last to get off our shuttle bus from Cancun airport, making for a long day of travel (numerous drop-off stops along the way). Thankful at least for the 11pm-7am Truck restaurant, as we came in late and hungry! Check-in was relatively painless, as we were the only people coming in at that time. Front desk staff was cordial, although things sometimes took a while to get resolved. We were given a room with two double beds and asked to be switched to one with a king-size bed. After a soft sell on a room upgrade (we politely declined) they agreed they could accommodate if we came back in the morning. Well, it actually took a couple days, but they did eventually come through ... so we had a king-size bed for the last seven nights of our stay. Zuriel was courteous and understanding, and did his best to follow through on our behalf whenever on duty. The buffet had lots of variety, including fish and vegetarian options - overall very good to excellent. We booked all four a la carte restaurants right away, no problem. In our opinion Thali Indian was the best. (Tequila Mexican seemed to be an extension of the Mexican section of the buffet.) Resort is huge and with all the action being focused in the central main pool area, we didn't stray too far most days. Worth noting that it was much more peaceful at the pool/beach near Andale burger joint and no trouble finding a lounge chair there. Recreation staff started volleyball twice daily, 11am and 3pm - excellent! Never had a problem getting a game going. Wind was a challenge most days, but affected everyone equally. Good fun! Overall the resort is well maintained, with a friendly staff. Beach was a bit of a construction zone, with their ongoing attempts to clear the weeds. Not a resort issue, but we felt a little cheated by our 10:30pm arrival time and 5:15am departure time. Nine days was more like 8.25 really. I will look more closely at this the next time I consider Air Transat vacations.

I have stayed at multiple Bahia Principe properties in the Dominican Republic and can testify that they are quality, well worth the money vacations. Experiencing other Bahia properties led me to book the Bahia Principe Tulum. Overall the property was clean and orderly, BUT the food was a complete disappointment. First, all the meat during all meals was over cooked and mostly tasteless. Vegetable choices were minimal and when available, only carrots and cauliflower. After the meal hours began, most of the serving pans were empty and the serving line not maintained. In other Bahia properties, culinary displays enhanced the appearance of the buffet, but here there was just pans of food that were messy and mostly empty. The big negative was the overall food quality but I would like this review to end on a positive note. The staff worked very hard to ensure that you received great drink service, rooms were cleaned to a high standard and the property looked really nice. With all that said, I would not return just due to the poor dining experiences that we encountered.

It's taken me almost 3 months to write this review. As it feels like closing the door on the best holiday i have ever been on. It was so good infact that half way through the holiday. I booked to return next year in may for a longer time staying at the premium Akumal part of the resort. That's not being detrimental to Tulum. It is stunning. The grounds, the food (oh my God the food! More on that later!) The people and the accommodation all without fault if I have to nit pick and find faults (we can all do that to a degree) I'd say that the lights in the communal stairs at night attracted a lot of mosquitos. Yes see, such a small thing to find fault in... but the mosquitos do like me... So let's break it down. Accommodation. We were in block 36 top floor. A perfect balance of quiet yet just the right amount of time away from the main part of the hotel. It never felt too quiet nor did it ever feel like it was too central. They say they don't have sea view rooms. But we could see the sea no problem from the second floor room. The bed was perfect. My only quibble would be that we couldn't get the telly to work with our firestick but that is a truly minimal complaint. The water was always piping hot even at peak times. So showering was never a worry. The mini fridge was topped up constantly and we never ran out of drinks. The balcony at night was so refreshing. And watching the electrical storm was special. Overall definetly one of the nicest rooms I've ever stayed in. 9.5/10 The resort Huge, as big as a small town. Enough bars and restaurants to make sure that you are never left wanting. The swim up pool bar was a special favourite of mine... but those cocktails do sneak up on you... made it hard to swim back to the side of the pool at times! 10/10 The entertainment team These guys do not stop. Absolutely lovely people. Happy to help, happy to include you, or equally just give you some reassurance that you don't have to get involved but are still part of the days activities. Massive shout out to Erick. Truly mate your a legend! I'm far from sporty anymore but even i had a good laugh playing table tennis, water polo, and beach volleyball... 10/10 Food Honestly don't know where to start. The food was the best I've ever had. The buffet had enough choice that I recon you could stay there a month and not have the same meal twice. The al-a-carte restaurants we had 6 in our 10 days were sensational. You would happily pay at least 100 quid a head in these restaurants in the UK. My waistline when I got back to the UK agreed with my thoughts about the food being out of this world. I cannot find any fault with the food. Aside from whatever they put in it that made it so addictive! (Real flavour!) 10/10 Wildlife Remember you are basically in the jungle. You will get mosquitos, you will get bitten, iguanas... if you like an iguana this place is for you. Millions of them! Raccoons at night across the resort up to mischief. Birds in the food hall. Not till you actually leave the table do they try and rob the plates don't listen to the exaggeration. The animals are more scared of you than you of them. 10/10 Nightlife The silent disco was a massive hit. When you took off your headphones and heard how bad the singing was you really did laugh. The hacienda nights spot was cool. And the casino was a good laugh. 10/10 Overall this place is pretty faultless and I can see why so many people are returning customers and I can't wait for my next visit!!!

Checkin was easy and quick. The agent at the front desk understood it my husbands birthday and said they would plan something special. The evening of his birthday we opened the mini fridge to find a bottle of sparkling white wine. Rooms: - Need some TLC - bed was pretty hard and sort of lumpy - A/C was working ok-ish - Ceiling fan sounded like it was going to fall out of the ceiling - Bedding was always damp - Mini fridge didn’t work well *** Noticed towels were stored in an outside closet which was exposed to the elements and bugs which was a little concerning *** Pools - Quiet pool is clean and the area was well maintained - Large Pool area needed some major cleaning. I used my snorkel mask and seen tones of bandaids, hair clogging the drain and lots of birds doing their business in the pool. Didn’t go to the kids side but other people said it was good. Entertainment - Standard entertainment, was interesting and kept the crowd engaged. Food - Main Buffet was good. Large selection to select from. - Was able to book 3 a la cartes. We chose the Japanese, Don Pablo’s and the Brazilian. They were good. Felt rushed through the meals. Beach - Strong winds come in from the east and LOTS of seaweed washed ashore. Clean up crews did their best but noticed they focused more on the Akumal beach front. The seaweed sat for 4 days and started attracting a lot of bugs. - Walkable beach Drinks - Some drinks are better than others. One bartender at the large main pool seemed like he was drunk or high. - I was told 3 times at the quiet pool that there was no mint to make mojitos but others had mojitos in their hands. I just got my mojitos from the other pool. We talked to some individuals and found out that the area was changing to a new management company at the end of March. Wasn’t terrible but wasn’t worth the amount we paid.

We booked this hotel as PREMIUM GUEST. We arrived around 1130pm. We asked for an upgrade, was told there was none to be had. We checked into our room. The room was a 2.5 star at best. The furniture was damaged/banged up and in poor condition. I am sure the same state as it was opened. - The mattress was filthy and stained. -No water pressure in the bathroom. -Tiles missing and broken in the bathroom. We were moved to another room, after a 6 hour wait. To get access to our things. The new room was updated and clean. The safe locked one day and we could not access our items. I was told to wait 5 mins and someone would come (Time was 0930am. I waited 1 hour, no show. Went on about my day, that evening I called the front desk and was told that "someone tried to call me at 130pm, to help" Eventually a fella came to help, he tried and could not access either. After trying for 10 mins, he just left said, " I dont know, 5 mins". We waited an hour before going for supper. When we returned, we called again, someone arrived with a device and was able to gain access. He said OK, walked away. The day we checked in we tried to book A la carte, only to find out that there was no available. It was our first day. So disappointing. I asked at Concierge and was told that's the way it is. We were able to get into 1 after checking late in the day and seeing a cancellation. The Mexican, the food was amazing. Homemade tortillas. Female Maruichi Band. The staff was delightful. The staff was very nice, the resort is ok. It is a bit dated; it was very large. The golf carts do not come along often enough. Leaving us to walk from the room to the big pool and restaurants. The beach is eroded.
