I generally don’t leave reviews for five star hotels, because one knows what to expect. Having stayed as part of a group, I expected better. Service was terrible: went for lunch, nobody at the entry. Tried to make eye contact with staff, no luck. After standing there for a few minutes, we went and sat down. After awhile we were chastised and told to return to the station. We did, and she begrudgingly walked us back telling us that the patio was closed for a private event - and sat us at the same table at which we had been sitting. Breakfast the next morning was similar: hostess was rude and told us the patio was held for a private event and only the interior was available. Since the main room was very loud and crowded; I asked which tables were available. She quite condescendingly said “I told you INSIDE.” I managed to not respond in kind. Service was very slow and our meals lukewarm.
We were happy that we decided not to book the Cactus Club: think small business class lounge (not First) with a small private pool. Having said that, the meals in the restaurants were slow and mediocre so maybe it would have been preferable. Our bill for lunch (two sandwiches, a beer and cocktail) and breakfast (two entrees and coffees) was over $225 with tip so Club might have been a wash if we ate three meals a day at the resort (I would not recommend doing so!)
The Phoenician was a much nicer experience.

Best tennis clinics in Phoenix
We absolutely love the Biltmore. There is so much to do! The restaurants are incredible. If you can, get a room with citrus club access. Totally worth it. The clay tennis courts and clinics were the best. Brendan is a great instructor. So fun!

I really want to give this hotel 4.5 circles, but that's not a choice, so 4 it is. This hotel was close to being perfect, but there were a few things that kept it from getting that perfect 5. Starting with checkin, it was a very pleasant experience, quick and efficient, but the woman at the desk failed to mention that we were upgraded (and failed to mention that the new room had two queens instead of a single king). This wasn't a problem, just an odd miss in the process. The room was very nice and the view of the mountains was great, we were in the terrace wing. But the terrace wing itself had some oddities. We were on the third floor and the elevator was a bit creepy, seeming very old, dark, and worn. On top of that, the hallways on the third floor lacked the beauty and polish of the other buildings. Before arrival we were contacted by the concierge team, they were great and very helpful with recommendations. They asked if we were celebrating anything and I shared that we were going to be there for my birthday. They noted that. Despite this, nothing was done on the property to recognize my birthday, not even a comment at check in or a card. Weird miss for sure.
Everything else at the hotel was quite nice. The staff was overall very friendly and helpful. The pools were lovely. The food was good. The spa was nice. So overall a solid hotel, just not one that's perfect and I don't think is currently living up to the price point that it's charging.

Issues with room not addressed. Maintenance staff of 18 truly undersized for a hotel of close to 800 rooms. Front desk staff and maintenance staff bombarded daily and therefore have lost energy to address non convention issues. Citrus room staff was phenomenal!
Very nice but much more of a party vibe from when it was a Waldorf.

We stayed here in room 4331 (The Terrace building) for 5 nights from 1/7 to 1/12/25. It is our third stay here (2 when it was a Waldorf our first under the new LXR brand}
The hotel is beautiful with great architecture and landscaping. The rooms are well appointed.
The Terrace building has it's own small pool, hot tub and courtyard area.
Our room was good sized, had a nice sized balcony, big bathroom with lots of counterspace and a shower and a tub) . There was a Nespresso machine, fridge, small table area and a decent sized TV. Overall the room decor was very nice.
Note 1: the room is about a quarter mile (one way) walk from the lobby and restaurant.
Note 2: the wall between your balcony and room 4329's is very low. We had the guest in 4329 leap over it and on to our balcony to get a "better picture". We felt a bit unsafe after this happened and can't imagining this happening when the hotel was a Waldorf.
If you are with a group, I'd recommend booking both 4329 and 4331, so you'll know who shows up on your balcony.
The staff is very good to excellent (esp. housekeeping and the front desk). They provide nightly turndown service as well as standard housekeeping.
Compared to our stays here when it was a Waldorf, we found the resort much busier (lots of business meetings/events) and having a much stronger party vibe. It did not seem as relaxing or family friendly as before.
If you are looking for the Waldorf vibe you will be disappointed, if you want a luxury party spot you will love it here.

This was a great place to stay. It was one of the few places where the beds and pillows are super comfortable. Loved the architecture and landscape. The bar outside with firepits, palm trees and mountain views was absolutely wonderful.
We were there with another couple as a birthday golf trip for my friend and my husband. They played golf three times, once at the Biltmore and had a great experience. We had a server outside at Adobe after their round, and I'm sorry to say I don't remember her name, but she was fantastic. A wonderful salesgirl for sure!
The restaurants at the resort are pricey, but the food is good.
The spa was nice. It was cold the day we got our massage so we weren't able to spend much time outdoors, but it is very pretty. The only thing that would make it better is if there was a pool for just the spa. We ended up leaving the spa as it got warmer and sitting at the adult pool, which was wonderful. My friend and I both had a fantastic hot stone massgae at the spa. I would definately recommend it.
We did a little hiking nearby, and there are some great restaurants and shopping too. The gym is good and has a lot of equipment. I didn't do any classes, only because the times didn't line up with my schedule. The hotel gift shops have good things at normal prices and the staff in those shops are very nice.
As I am not a golfer, I took a tennis lesson one day while the others were on the course. This was one of my favorite things all week. The instructor, Brendan Easterling, was better than fantastic. He gave me so many tips and helped me with various things. I wish I could have had more time with him as I truly believe he could change my game if given the chance. If I am ever back, taking another lesson with him is the one thing I know I would do again. If I ever get the chance I would take my girlfriends back there for a tennis camp type trip with him. He is patient, encouraging, knowledgable, and was excellent at picking out certain small things to work on for improvement. I really appreciated his instrustion. I greatly recommend him if you are staying here or traveling close by.
The hotel is older, but it has been renovated and it is clean and very nice. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is because we did not have great service with housekeeping. I had to ask for things every day as housekeeping did not replinish some things. I did leave extra tip money, but honestly would have left them much more had they restocked my water, coffee, make up towels, and make up cotton pads without being asked more than once. That being said, the valet guys were woderful. They even recommended a local mexican restaurant to us when we asked and it did not disappoint. They were always quick and friendly.
I would definately recommend this resort and would stay here again.

Service is the key here. This was closer to a Four Seasons than a Hilton. One of the best resorts in Scottsdale. Spa, adult pool, outdoor bar were all exceptional.
The grounds were incredible. Painstakingly manicured for every lawn and garden.
Downsides: corporate events took over every other day. Finding a pool chair is challenging on the weekend. They need to be more aggressive on clearing out “held” chairs. Treadmills are dated in the gym. Peloton are ready for an upgrade.
This maybe my favorite Scottsdale Resort for the price. Splurge for a suite. It includes the Citrus Club. Food and beverage all day and evening.

This should be a 5 . Love this property. It’s a place we stayed many times years ago. Used to come to the area weekly for work and would entertain and stay, meet my husband, golf, spa, tennis. Love the main original building, the iron windows, the cool
Architecture, sultry wrights bar, the pool. We travel a lot and prefer the classics likeOjai Valley Inn and Hotel Del
And Torrey Pines and Mauna Kea.. we tend toward Marriott’s usually to be point loyal..Although hilton does have a Cabo property and grand wailea we like . We stayed at 4 season Scottsdale our last trip here -the gold standard in my opinion for service anywhere ....but not always possible
W how $$ 4 seasons are ..
we opted to come here to recall fun trips past even tho Phoenix wasn’t the plan.. rooms and grounds still fantastic .. the boganvilla, adobes, the smell
In general reminds me of the proper
In Austin.. excellent white sangria ..great coffee spot and gelato and good job on who ever is burning brands for the shops..
the not great starting w check in..not enough staff.. took
Way too long to check in..offered an upgrade for $300
More a night? A trend we are seeing..last 3 hotels we
Have been to
In past months-Maui, Vegas and here all
Did the upsell spiel at check in..must be working because they’re
All
Doing..I like an upgrade because we are members ? It make you feel like whatever you booked isn’t good..I don’t care for the upsell speech when I have just arrived . Hmm then we asked if we had a tub..yes of course ..except no tub. Then stopped at concierge to get hiking info.. told to go online? Why have a concierge if you just want me to do it myself online. Went to bar later for drinks..waited an hour
For a congealed gross “pizza “
The we didn’t eat.. was told
To stand in the once again in long front desk line to take that off the bill? Wouldn’t a competent waitress just take that off? It wasn’t eaten.. it was cold..
Silly. Pickle ball..go online? Hello
Concierge ..now upsell
Me..book
Stuff for us -make it easy to pick my pockets everyday I am here. I walked over and got someone delightful to help me.. thank you mason . pool servers hard working and great-sold us many drinks and snacks
.love that. .thank you very much. Housekeeping great ..on Monday we had a 6pm flight so we figured we would get a late check out and hang out..nope -out by noon? What’s regular check out time 10? Hmm just disappointing. They would sell me more time but otherwise full? So either you have room
Or you don’t .. Just like check in..I can sell you an upgrade but not grant it to a loyalty member ? That’s in conflict to me. So all that to say..if you like charm and history the Biltmore is a lovely property.. set your service and loyalty expectations. I find Fairmonts the same way . And when 4 seasons seems too expensive ..next time I won’t hesitate. Time off to relax is too precious to be kicked out of your room without at tub at noon..

This is a four star hotel, pretending to be a five star resort. The grounds in the entrance to the lobby are really nice. Also, I have not met a member of the staff that was not very helpful. The staff is great! The facilities are aged. There’s a lot of wood and there’s nothing interesting about a lot of the rooms. The bathrooms are basic. And the pools are always crowded, literally, if you are not up at seven, you will not get chair. The pool menu choice is poor. Basic sandwiches are not included. It’s like they’re trying to be fancy. Tough to do in a four star resort Five star resort solve these problems. They create wow factor. This hotel does not have that. It’s that simple.

I wanted to stay here because of the history of the hotel and its reputation. Yes, the place is gorgeous and our room in the Ocatilla wing was spacious, immaculate and bright. Because we are Hilton Honors members we got a daily $50 credit to use for any food and drink. We had breakfast each day at McArthurs, which came to about $85 before the credit.
We used the Ocatilla pool, which was nice and quiet. I suggest that pool. And DEFINITELY do the tour of the hotel. I learned so much and got to see so many nooks and crannies most take for granted.
I would stay here again. The hotel just takes your breath away.
