An absolutely beautiful resort with stunning gardens, suites and view. It seems it caters very well for families with young children providing activities, catering, large family pool including slides and special offers for the parents, with full access to all areas and restaurants. However I feel there could be a bit more consideration for couples to be able to fully enjoy their stay here too, perhaps with an adults only area as an escape from often noisy youngsters! The staff are very attentive trying hard to appease any request, though this proves sometimes difficult with language barriers, and service can be slow. Breakfast is amazing and caters to all tastes and dinners in the 3 restaurants is plentiful though 3-4/5 on taste. We did have an issue with the advertising of the Japanese restaurant stating there was fish and meat available, so we didn’t bother looking at the menu which unfortunately was a mistake. My husband doesn’t like fish and there was no fish free option available. The food, especially sushi, looked amazing being created in front of us and I wish I had chosen my meal differently - the tempura prawns starter was very oily and stayed with me til the next day! However we enjoyed our desserts and the waiter bent over backwards sourcing a burger for my husband from The Beach restaurant next door, which we took back to our room rather than disrespect the chef, so he didn’t go hungry. Drinks are very pricey £10+ for any alcoholic drink, £4+ for cheapest local beer and even alcohol free ones are not cheap, £6 for fruit cocktail etc and when you learn that parents at the family pool have BOGOF Aperol Spritz, it seems unfair. Overall a lovely 3 night stay on half board basis, which provided lots of dinner options and breakfast buffet. I would consider coming back for a few nights.

Just back from a very enjoyable 5 nights stay Anantara. The resort is new and immaculately maintained, the rooms and villa are decorated in a modern but warm fashion, making you feel well. A big thank to our Host, Touch who went the extra mile to make us feel very welcomed. We appreciated very much the SPA, good treatment, skilled and professional staff. As loyal GHA-Members we were well taken care of. For guests traveling without kids, be aware it‘s a very kid friendly resort, which brings its one dynamism and noise levels in the commun areas. We enjoyed to the fullest our stay, for the serene location and above all for the really friendly engaged staff. Once again thanks to Touch and the F&B staff .

A Brief Voyage to Anantara Koh Yao Yai
From the airport to the resort is quite an “adventure” but the seamless arrangement of the hotel for the multi-modal transport model HAS to be the choice you make. Pickup from airport via van to the jetty and then a speedboat transfer to the resort’s private jetty, and then yet...
From the airport to the resort is quite an “adventure” but the seamless arrangement of the hotel for the multi-modal transport model HAS to be the choice you make. Pickup from airport via van to the jetty and then a speedboat transfer to the resort’s private jetty, and then yet another short ride to the hotel. The hotel itself is beautiful with a magnificent facade and one is treated to a very warm welcome from the front teams. We were then escorted to the check in reception area where we first met our Butler, Joe, who made our vacation as complete and as seamless as possible - more on that later. Bit of a mix up as I thought my reservation was for a sea facing pool villa - the actual reservation was for a lagoon facing pool villa. Now, what might be the difference, you may think a lagoon is a geographical feature of a land mass facing a body of water - but it is NOT - it’s actually facing their land locked ponds which were (at that time) experiencing an algae bloom of sorts - put that as a background to your crystal clear villa pool and it becomes a bit of an eyesore. The huge villa was very well appointed and all in it’s place - only thing(s) disappointing me were the several switches, devices (blue tooth speaker), and plug points that were not working and I was constantly on the phone or waiting for a technician. Room service was excellent, food was awesome and their turndown services were tip top. And here comes Joe - told him of my “mistake” in selecting the lagoon villa and he pulled heaven and earth together to help me upgrade (with very minimal charges) to the beach front pool villa. I would be most apologetic if you did not get Joe as your butler (again assuming that your room comes with one..) I’m sure the other butlers are just as competent - but Joe is probably at least a few steps beyond the rest with his quality care and genuine interest in making your vacation a great one! The rest of the resort facilities are also at least 5 stars and above - had the opportunity to try their Anantara Signature massage at the magnificent and gorgeous Spa - don’t miss out on this! Food at the Beach restaurant was nothing short of fantastic - they also had a violinist who was spot on near perfect on all the beautiful pieces that she played. Overall, a great stay - and YES, I will return as soon as is physically possible!!! Kudos to all the people at Anantara Kho Yao Yai!
