Amanpuri is a great hotel but the brand and price point command very high expectations. We have stayed at 6 Aman properties around the world as well as many Ritz Reserves so that is the lens by which we judge the hotel. Plusses: 1. Beautiful property with well appointed rooms 2. Food was generally very tasty 3. Spa treatments were good 4. Staff were generally responsive and very friendly, in particular the restaurant wait staff. Our driver from the airport was also great and went out of his way to find a place where we could buy fruit. 5. Lucky a server in the restaurant went the extra mile and brought some green mangoes from her own garden and home made shrimp paste that my wife was craving. 6. Room service was very fast Areas needing work: 1. Central reservations are not great. They failed to connect us with anyone to plan our trip itinerary after booking outside of getting flight information. We were arriving in the morning and they tried to hard upsell us on booking an extra night which left a bad taste 2. There’s not much to do. We did a blessing at a temple which was nice though the temple very basic and visited the elephant sanctuary. 3. I asked for some specific fruit that my wife was craving. Initially they said they could get it but there would be an extra charge which i agreed to despite feeling when you are spending $2500 per night customising a fruit bowl should not be something ai am charged for. Ultimately they said they could only get one of the requested fruits and did not follow through.

Our magnificent stay at Amanpuri was a first class experience from start to finish. We stayed six nights in mid-December, 2024 as part of our wedding anniversary celebration. The spectacular location of this luxury hotel is on the Indian Ocean with soothing beaches and grounds that take one's breath away. Only a 45-minute drive from the Phuket International Airport, this seaside masterpiece incorporates the terrain and beautiful architecture to accentuate its idyllic setting. Our Pool Pavilion was exceptionally decorated with more amenities than one would expect even from a luxury resort. The private pool was huge and the outdoor space was a wonderful place for us to relax and enjoy each other’s company. While access to our room from the other parts of the resort required many stair steps, the tranquil surroundings took our breath away almost as much as the climb. For those so inclined, the buggy service to and from the main lobby is quick, efficient, and comfortable. The most impressive part of our stay with Amanpuri was the staff. These people were exceptionally friendly and helpful in every possible way. Simple touches like addressing us by our names and remembering our preferences made us feel pampered and appreciated. A few people on the staff of Manager Sea who really took care of our needs during the stay include Krit, Pop, K, Beer, and the entirety of reception personnel. We highly recommend Amanpuri to other travelers and plan on a return trip in the very near future.

Went here for my birthday and it's the best decision ever. Great food , amazing room and all the staff were extremely accommodating. Some rooms for improvement. The spa was not as good as other resorts(RC reserve/Rosewood) at this caliber. Had the Nama omakase and they desperately needs lots of improvement in terms of food and menu(suggestion is to age the fish longer and better, more sake selection, more creative menu) Overall I had a blast and would definitely go back for longer next time(at least a week)

Incredible beach (best resort beach experience in Phuket IMO). Soft sand, extremely attentive service, nice loungers with plenty available, fun watersports, etc... the whole package. Room was very nice; the bathroom is gorgeous with beautiful flowers. Everything felt brand new as well. Manager was super present and friendly, greeted us at arrival and departure, at the bar, etc... My only hesitation to come back is that the food really felt mostly 'correct' but not 'great' -- didn't have the most amazing flavor; bread at the italian restaurant was stale and not tasty, etc. Nothing was wrong with any of the food, but just kinda was like 'huh, I would have thought the food here would be really good' keeping up with the insanely great quality of everything else and instead it's just 'good' Same for the drinks, though to be fair they might have just been too 'elevated' for us. We were looking for fruity fun cocktails and again they were 'correct' but not amazing. We would absolutely come back; it was a really nice experience and service and facilities were everything you could want.

From the arrival till departure, Amanpuri is flawless. We are Amanjunkies and from all the Aman we visited, Amanpuri stands out. Lovely touch , for our anniversary our room was with baloons and champagne, wow what a surprise. We had the garden pavillon and its spotless, lovely lanai and spacious. Bed is comfy and the housekeepers always refresh the room daily, or everytime we leave they just arrange things and clean. The resort has a lovely sandy beach and the restaurants are all good. The thai restaurant is the best we have tried in Thailand, all the Menu is just so delicious and fresh. The Italian is great as well as the japanese. All outstanding and top quality. Milena the manager is very warm , kind and welcoming,, she makes us feel at home. The waitresses and waiters are all so kind. All the staff are just lovely people. Service is outstanding, this is truly Aman. We love the afternoon tea too. This was one of our best Aman experience. We cant have enough of it. Will come back again. Thank you all Amaopuri staff for this memorable, lovely stay.

The hotel is truly a magical place. The food is fantastic the service kind and attentive, and the beach is divine. A big lager is the state of the rooms in comparison to the price you pay. The bathrooms need an urgent overhaul and the doors are outdated, allowing a lot of different animals to enter. A new problem has emerged as well , the excessive loud party music which comes across from the other side of the hotel until midnight. So in conclusion, new doors better insulation & general investments in the rooms equals to happy guests.

The 5/5 reviews are spot on. The service, staff, food, and rooms are excellent. I would call the beach the least impressive part of the resort and there are a ton of steps to get down to it (and around the resort in general) but you can take a cart to most parts of the resort if you prefer. We stayed in a Garden Pavilion which is entry level or close to it and it was amazing with some ocean views (#202). The resort is close enough to old town Phuket and the other more touristed areas if you want to see those. Overall another great Aman resort with amazing service.

Just checked out of Amanpuri after a 4 day stay. I liked this resort and I would recommend staying there. This is our third Aman stay in the last 12 months. Thoughts: It is worth knowing that this is Aman at scale. I can imagine that this size facility would be warranted in Phuket. It still has the soul of an Aman but it’s big. Brilliant, and classic Aman in no particular order: housekeeping, beach staff, bar staff, staff in general, team in the Thai/breakfast restaurant, massages. Proactive and attentive. The library is really interesting and well-curated. Some (even Aman) libraries are just accumulations of leftover books. The library reflected my interests in electronic music and Asian textiles. Loved. This resort recently went through a refresh. The refresh is good and feels natural with the original design. There is a Toto washlet which is a minimum in 2023. There was some residual construction noise at the beach. I don’t think will be a long-term issue, but keep it in mind if you’re thinking of staying here in fall 2023. I would say the only real thing I didn’t like was how they over corrected. I can tell you this crowd is very concerned about their guests and really want you to have that classic Aman experience. I just don’t need that once the problem has been fixed. I’ve moved on. I’m on vacation and don’t want to dwell. I had a very positive impression of one of the managers - the executive director of housekeeping. You could tell she was a pro. The housekeeping, again, was superb. At this density of rooms, there is always going to be some loss of privacy, especially at entry level room categories. It’s very good, but not great. We got an upgrade from a Garden Pavilion to a Garden Pool Pavilion with a 10m private pool, which we credit to booking with Virtuoso. The room was striking and luxe. Crowd was LGBT-heavy when we were there, which we loved. We never felt any sense of discomfort as a gay couple. One uses a buggy system to get around. The buggies are retrofit small cars without doors. It is comfortable and efficient. There is the manufacturer’s installed handle over the door. I would be sure to use it. If you do, you would be fine. Separately, this is our return to Phuket after a pre-COVID trip. The locals seem very lovely and chill. We loved our pre-trip to Bangkok which we would recommend if someone was coming from the States like us. There will always be a place in my heart for Aman when they essentially rescued us as a refugees on our honeymoon from what I continue to be the worst resort of all time, Mandapa: A Ritz-Carlton Reserve. We had an incredible stay at Amanpuri. We made sure to stay at the end of the season before the annual closure of the hotel. Communication pre and during our stay was flawless and the staff really made sure everything was prepared for our arrival. We had a beautiful Partial Sea View Pavilion which was in reality fully facing the sea and beautifully appointed. The Pavilions are in perfect condition and feel simple but luxurious just as you are expecting from an Aman hotel. People that find the rooms outdated and simple, clearly do not understand why one stays at Amanpuri. The room offers all modern amenities should you need them, but I honestly cannot remember when I last turned on the TV on a holiday stay. The entire property constantly kept in perfect condition. You mostly have the beach or pool or gym to yourself. The only time you really see all other guests is during meal times. All food and drinks was excellent, housekeeping was excellent, beach service was mostly perfect. We had one day where the service at the beach felt a bit lacklustre but it is forgivable. Every moment you spend at Amanpuri you have to remind yourself that this place really exists and you are really there. It is that beautiful. If there wouldn’t be that many Aman hotels to explore we would come back again and again and again.

We had a wonderful 4-night stay at Amanpuri, and we can't wait to go back! As a couple that has stayed in some of the best hotels around the world, Amanpuri is definitely competing for the top spot on our list of favourite hotels. First, the hotel is located in a beautiful area. The hotel's private beach, which is a cove, is gorgeous, with perfect white sand, some beautiful large rocks, and tree-covered hills on either side. We could not get enough of it, and we had to spend at least some time on their beach each day. The hotel has beautiful Thai architecture. It is also beautifully laid out, with rooms privately scattered across the location. We stayed in a garden pavilion, but all pavilions should be more or less the same on the inside, only differing in terms of view and location. The pavilion/room itself was extremely comfortable. The pavilion has a lovely outdoor seating area, and inside you get a king-size bed. The toilet has two washing sinks, separated on either side, and great storage space for bags on either side as well. This made the room very comfortable for me and my wife, as we each had our own space on either side. The toilet has a Japanese Toto toilet chair, which is super comfortable and convenient! Last but not least, the room has the best rain shower. It's beautiful on the inside, spacious, comfortable, and with great water pressure. It's so relaxing that it makes it hard to leave the shower at times. I should also comment on the AC. Coming from Saudi Arabia, we love our air conditioning, and it's important for us that the AC can make the room very cold when needed. We had no issues with the AC whatsoever, and it kept our room cold as we wanted it. Service at the hotel is exceptional, as you would expect from an Aman hotel. Everyone, from the staff at reception to the team at restaurants to the housekeeping, delivers their services at the highest level. To give a simple example, there was a day in which we went on an 8-hour boat trip to explore some of the islands around Phuket. We came back a little sunburned, and, without asking, we found that housekeeping had brought fresh aloe to the room while we were away, (correctly) anticipating that we would need it. And of course, housekeeping always goes the extra mile to make the rooms as today and comfortable as possible. In general, service is a few levels above most other 5-star hotels. As for food, we loved all three restaurants: the Italian, Japanese, and Thai. The restaurants were so good that we never really needed to venture out to eat. For those coming here for fitness, you will not be disappointed. They have one of the best-equipped hotel gyms I've seen. Finally, some areas of improvement: - There are a lot of fitness facilities and options, but no one from reception or the front desk discussed them with me, even though I had noted before arrival that I was coming to the resort to improve my health and well-being -There was a minor issue with a few flying ants that had entered the room and settled in the bathtub before we checked in, but that was addressed pretty quickly. It would be better to check rooms just before the guest arrives -We booked a Muay Thai class as a couple, but it was far too expensive for what you get in 1 hour, even though we enjoyed the class. We then discovered that the price we paid at Amanpuri was almost 5 times more than the price of a similar 1-hour Muay Thai class at another top, top resort in Bangkok (same price point). The amount we paid was not worth it, especially since the first 10 to 15 mins are a warm-up. -Given their excellent gym, it would be great if they added hack-squat, low-row, and hip-thrust machines to their collection for completeness -We loved the Japanese restaurant, and it would be great if they opened for dinner as well I'm sure such a hotel will keep looking to improve on its already outstanding level, and I look forward to visiting again soon!

Traveling around Aman destinations for a couple years and it’s time to go back again for the third time in this hidden gem of Phuket. I was very excited to come back again after a very long time. Everything was amazing from the moment we landed at Phuket International Airport. Got greeted by an Amanpuri representative who was holding a Amanpuri wooden sign board as usual and 40 minutes later, we were in paradise. The arrival. The moment I saw the dark grey wooden roof, everything felt like home. I was shocked by how well maintained this place is given the age of the property. Was greeted by the hotel team with their welcome ritual and drinks which tasted so good especially after an early morning flight. We were told that our room was not ready yet so we decided to have early lunch at Arva, the hotel’s Italian restaurant as we were planning to do some activities throughout the day. Our room was ready after lunch and we went straight back to change for some activities. The room. I would like to put the category under 2 parts as I was staying in 2 type of rooms. I decided this Phuket trip one night before arrival to escape the Bangkok heatwave and the choice of room available for that night was only the Garden Pavilion. •GARDEN PAVILION A nice room, with outdoor living terrace (sala) surrounded by the garden. Comfy bed for - good night rest. Everything is now controlled by a touch screen panel on the wall or via the room iPad. Welcome fruit of basket and cards were placed in the room too. The bathroom was big enough and it’s not an Aman if it’s not attention to details. I was travelling with my partner and 2 amenities for men were already in the room. Usually I have to request it again when I’m in another hotel. One thing to note is bugs and mosquitoes staying in this room. •PARTIAL OCEAN POOL PAVILION On the second night, I saw that this room has become available on their website. Went to the lobby lounge ask if it’s possible for me to pay the difference between the rooms and they agreed to do it. I never regret that decision, turns out to be one of my favorite room in the property. The room layout is the same with Garden Pavilion, but it has very generous outdoor living space and a spacious private pool for you to swim laps in private or even host a pool party (which I did with a small group of friends who decided to join us to stay in Amanpuri). The view was breathtaking. I spent the rest of my stay inside that pool instead of the public pool. Ofc, less bugs too and I felt like I had a pet squirrel during my stay as one of them was chilling around the pavilion too. My pavilion 604 has a very nice view of sunset too. Facilities A private beach, 3 pools, a gym with gorgeous view, restaurants, spa, a newly renovated boutique which has everything you need (bought lots of their clothing) what else do you need? As the first Aman hotels, it’s not uncommon to have so many steps of stairs from the public facilities to your room, but Aman has a buggy service to bring you anywhere inside the estate with just one call away. Even if when you’re feeling lazy taking the staircase, just ring them up and they will happily bring you to your room from the lobby or vice versa. Despite the full occupancy during my trip, I still barely see anyone at the public area. Non motorised watersport is complimentary but the waves was too high to enjoy so we ended up chilling by the beach and doing a short swim in the ocean. Dining I don’t usually compliment foods or drinks as I’m a chef and used to be a bartender, but the credits should be given to them. There’s multiple of restaurants inside the hotel. I had the chance to try Beach Terrace, Buabok, Arva and Sunset Terrace. For spice lovers, try their Crab Curry from Buabok. It’s definitely the best crab curry I have ever tried before. Arva has amazing pasta and steak with a nice and extensive selection of premium wine to pair your dinner. Beach Terrace was good, but Sunset Terrace was next level. Sunset Terrace is a bar serving snack foods and their specialise drink is Negroni (I assume as there’s tons of different negroni in the menu). Try their Elder Flower Negroni, it’s not your typical one but it tasted magical. There’s also a complimentary tea time by the main pool area everyday from 4pm to 5pm with traditional Thai cakes and delicious passionfruit drinks, my favorite is the one with lemongrass infused water. A suggestion, more food option on Arva would be nice as I ran out of ideas what to eat on the second night. Service Two words to describe, UNQUESTIONABLY GREAT. From arrival to check out, everything was seamless which is the usual Aman standard. I would like to mention 2 names that really highlight the stay, Khun Nun and Khun Ang. Both of them was the best keeping up with all my requests and even try to assist me during their off days, talk about best service. I was running out of cigarettes during the stay and they offered to help me get it from the nearest convenient store as I was too lazy to leave the property. One night, I came back to my pavilion and there’s already a bottle of wine waiting for me with a very romantic set up, a room full of candles and rose petals. Turndown team was also great, setting up different gifts every night and I finally own the Amanjunkie tshirt from Amanpuri! Electric repellent was also set up as I told them there’s too many bugs on my first night which I appreciate. One small problem, the famous ‘ninja’ housekeeping team among amanjunkie was not spotted. In every Aman stay, they will come to the room to tidy up even though you only crease your bedsheet as soon as you left your room. I came back a few times during the day and the room was still messy. But as I mentioned before, the hotel was on very high occupancy during my stay, so maybe they can’t constantly do it. But no big deal, one call away and the housekeeping team will arrive in no time to clean your room. No managers was on sight too during my stay which is not usual for Aman. Upon check out, I decided to extend my Phuket stay for a night but my partner and friends wanted to try another establishment. There was some mixed up on my booking and Khun Ang helped me to call the hotel and make sure everything was settled before my arrival there, I coudn’t be more thankful. I accidentally left some of my skincare too and Amanpuri was so kind to send it to my new hotel at night without any additional charge, real service. I was presented with a box of AMAN chocolate before my departure and given a proper send off by their hotel car to the next hotel. Overall, it was a memorable stay and I couldn’t wait to visit Amanpuri again in the near future!

Memories are best left to be memories. We returned to AmanPuri expecting to return to our paradise . Gone are the magic days that dreams are made of. There is no longer an Aman dive boat to whisk you off to the islands for incredible dive experiences, lunches ….etc..if you want to dive you pass piles of garbage on the beach and climb into a local long boat . The same fruit remains in your room during your stay and is never changed as the flowers wilt . You may or may not get your order at the restaurant…etc. No one sees the GM even though you ask to see him. He must still be in his meeting but he sends an Aman tee shirt with an unsigned note from him thanking you for surpassing five Aman stays. It’s to thank you for sharing your bank account. New ownership, new vision , the old gentil world of form has gone from the Aman dream and the end of the Aman myth. Friends compared Aman destinations and were known as Aman junkies!!! but the wonderful gentle Thai people with their grace and spirit still linger. Return to Thailand. It is a wonderful place.
