Amanpulo was just as advertised. Pristine beaches, wonderfully appointed rooms, very attentive staff and management. Each casita is perfectly placed to provide you with total privacy. Your lounge chairs are positioned on the beach to give you the feeling that you are the only person the beach. The two pools are beautiful, the food was quite good and there were multiple restaurants to choose from. The island is small and Amanpulo is the only resort on it. You get a buggy upon arrival so you can go when you please rather than calling for a ride. The staff was extremely polite and attentive. They did their best to accommodate your every desire. They take the time to memorize your face and name before you arrive so you don't need to give them your room number or name to book anything. Initially it caught me off guard, but I quickly was assimilated. The staff is very warm and friendly. We felt like a part of the Amanpulo family whilst we were there. Jessica, David and Mabel were the best! It is a long flight from Los Angeles, but well worth it. We will be back!

When we arrived we were greeted by our butlers. They were fantastic. They were there to assist with anything we needed at any time. far exceeded our expectations. We stayed in a two bedroom villa with another couple. The size of the property was more than we had expected. Very beautiful and very private. Our chef - WOW - he cooked the most amazing dinners for us. We had a pig roast on the beach one night that I would highly recommend. We also ate dinner at all of the restaurants. A special callout to Ian at the Lagoon Club. He went above and beyond. The beach is AMAZING. It is one of the finest beaches I have ever been on. Rarely did we see anyone there. I brought rafts to float in the water - and every one an then a turtle would pop up.. just incredible. It is definately a long trip from the US, but it worth it.

This is a stunning island with one of the most beautiful beaches and water anywhere in the world - personally I think better than the Maldives, Seychelles, Mozambique. The staff and the service is faultless throughout so your experience on the island is exclusive and private. We were particularly well served by Jesie, our butler, who was charming and discreet and helpful although we were pretty self contained guests. Ian at the Lagoon Club made our stay particularly enjoyable. He was incredibly attentive and professional - a genuine enthusiast for his job and for the Aman brand. The villas are very well appointed and well designed but not as spectacular as some of the other Aman properties we have been to or private island villas in North Island or Miavana for example. We moved from Villa 6 which was unrenovated and felt very tired (noisy air conditioning etc) to a refurbished villa which was much better and closer to what would expect for the price point. The move was handled swiftly and efficiently. Villas are spacious with large pools and very private. Some of the outdoor furniture has seen slightly better days and the equipment in the very well appointed and spacious gym is not the most up to date but, - again, this is in comparison with other Aman’s - Management curiously absent. We met no one from senior management in 12 days but we didn’t really need to I guess and wasn’t a major issue. Overall we will definitely return. This is is an incredibly well run property on a spectacular island with

Amanpulo Review: Stunning Location, But Lacking in Service and Hospitality

After years of staying in some of the world’s top five-star resorts, we finally made it to Amanpulo with high hopes. Known for its exclusivity and renowned location, we were looking forward to a memorable stay. While the island itself is undoubtedly a gem in the Philippines, our experience didn’t fully meet our expectations. Here’s a candid look at what we loved and where we felt Amanpulo fell short. **The Good:** The island’s natural beauty is its most significant draw. The beaches are powdery white and lead into crystal-clear waters—an absolute paradise for beach lovers. The island feels secluded, serene, and completely peaceful, which makes it easy to unwind and reconnect with nature. For snorkeling and beach walks alone, Amanpulo delivers a five-star experience. Our casita was well-appointed and comfortable, with tasteful decor and thoughtful amenities that reflect the Aman brand’s understated luxury. The resort’s layout provides a sense of privacy, making it feel as if you have the island to yourself. **Where It Falls Short:** However, for a resort that markets itself at the pinnacle of luxury, service and hospitality should be equally exceptional, and here, we were left wanting. Our guest assistant, while polite and friendly, seemed uninterested in curating a truly personalized experience for us. He provided a brief tour upon our arrival but made no effort to check in throughout our four-night stay unless we initiated contact. The lack of communication felt impersonal and disconnected, more akin to an ordinary hotel experience than what we’d expect from an Aman resort. The incident that stood out most was when we crossed paths with him on the resort’s grounds one afternoon. We made eye contact, but he did not stop to greet us, ask how our day was going, or even wave—a small gesture that would have gone a long way in making us feel seen and valued. This felt uncharacteristically cold and inattentive for a luxury resort. We had anticipated that our guest assistant would be more proactive in helping us tailor our days, as has been the case at other high-end resorts. Instead, we found ourselves organizing almost everything independently, from dining reservations to excursions. While we’re perfectly capable of making our own plans, the absence of thoughtful touches—like suggestions, check-ins, or spontaneous surprises—left the experience feeling unremarkable. Amanpulo seems to rely heavily on the island’s beauty, but it lacks the attentive, personalized service that we expected from a resort at this level. **The Bright Spot:** The only staff member who truly impressed us was Gerald from The Clubhouse. His warmth, kindness, and genuine care for guests was evident, and he consistently went out of his way to ensure we had everything we needed. Gerald embodied the spirit of hospitality and made us feel genuinely welcomed and looked after—a quality we wish had been more widespread among the staff. The only other employee we truly loved was Louie, the very talented guitarist and vocalist. His music brought so much joy to our days, and we always looked forward to hearing him play. **Overall Takeaway:** Amanpulo is undoubtedly beautiful, but the experience leans more on the resort’s natural setting than the service quality you would typically expect from the Aman brand. For travelers who seek pristine beaches and absolute relaxation, the resort is a worthwhile escape. But for those who prioritize high-touch, anticipatory service, Amanpulo may not fully meet the mark. While we’re glad we experienced the island’s beauty, we’re left with mixed feelings about recommending Amanpulo to friends and family. We hope that the resort will make improvements in hospitality to match the awe-inspiring beauty of the location. **Rating: 3/5 stars** **Note:** For those considering a visit, feel free to reach out with any questions. I’d be happy to provide more insights or specifics based on our experience.

Amanpulo was one of the best places we have ever vistited. We loved the beach, our casita, the service. I would like also to mention and thank especially Albert for his support during our visit. He helped us a lot during the arrival and departure process.

We stayed 5 nights at Amanpulo as a first stop of our trip in the Philippines. The resort was absolutely stunning. It is indeed one of the best place we stayed in so far. We had booked a beach casita (17) but had to change our room due some technical issues and were upgraded to a beach pool casita (21). All the casita’s have absolutely stunning views over the beach, the sunset and the crystal clear water. The service during our entire stay was top notch. We were particularly surprised at how the entire staff could always remember our names, even those we met for the first time. Activities are various and great, spa is excellent, the marine life is fantastic (we could swim with the turtles almost every day, directly from the beach). We walked all around the island on the second day of our stay, the walk was great and not too long (1h20 approximately for about 5km perimeter). Every casita has it own buggy so you can easily drive it yourself and go around the island. There are 3 choices of restaurants on the resort, we tried all of them and I can’t really say which one is the best. They all offer various choices of food and are all very good. I could write so many more great things about Amanpulo but our review will stop here! Special mention to Jessica (room manager) and Claire who went above and beyond to make our stay always enjoyable and memorable. For those wondering how easy is the resort accessible from Manila, the journey is just seemless. We were taken care of by the resort staff from the moment we landed from our international flight, driven to the private terminal where we waited patiently at the Amanpulo’s lounge for our 1h10 flight to the resort. Keep it up Amanpulo, we will definitely be back soon!

Truly paradise , never have I’ve been served like this before, still in awe with everything! Service 1000/100 , food is excellent , not enough words that can explain. Definitely stay here, activities are fun, rooms are so nice and one of the best massages I’ve had! Thank you amanpulo!

Our expectations were high for Amanpulo, given the price at $2,000 a night for 5 nights you would expect things to be perfect. But as we expected, this hotel was perfect. Everything was seamless from checkin at the airport to the villa which was exceptional. We scuba dove and I did a night dive which was awesome and freaky at the same time, we did the star gazing one night, toured the organic garden, used the gym and spa as well. We were super happy with the entire experience, everyone was incredibly friendly and honestly it was just a really easy, peaceful, seamless experience. Breakfast was great, lots of options, we enjoyed afternoon tea as well. The GM spoke to us on a few different occasions to ask if he could improve on anything as at the time I really couldn't think of anything. I did later tell them the only thing I could think of was switching out the hair dryer to a Dyson as the on they had was fairly cheap model. If you are looking for a super relaxed amazing private experience, this island is the place for you,. We actually rarely saw any other guests at all. Oh and certainly beach Casita is a must. We will be back!

We last came here 27 years ago. It hasn't changed at all beyond the addition of some villas and places to eat. Beach still picture postcard perfect and largely empty. Water perfection. Staff amasing. Food very good. Nice spa. BTW, note to self. #19.

Overall the resort which resides on it's own private island is spectacular. The private flight from Manilla takes about one hour on a prop plane. The beaches are immaculate with fine white sand and the ocean is calm and inviting. Each guest accommodation comes with a golf cart which is needed to get around to the various venues. Surprisingly the interior roads are not paved and depending on the weather are either dusty or muddy. Although the resort is evidently about 30 years old we thought is was much newer. The resort has three distinctly different restaurants and the food quality is excellent. The only issue we had with the restaurants is that they never show you a bill, or have you sign off on what you ordered. The day prior to our departure I asked to see a printout of our charges and sure enough there were errors on several of the restaurant charges. The resort didn't dispute the errors and were cordial in their approach but I would personally prefer to be presented with a bill for review each time. The resort offers snorkeling off their boat each morning at 9:00 AM for about an hour but surprisingly does not offer it any other time during the day. You can however find snorkeling sites from the shore. However unfortunately much of the coral off the shore has suffered from bleaching. Aside from the few issues mentioned we were pleased with our experience and would highly recommend this resort.
