Aman Venice

This was our first time at the Aman Venice and it went beyond our expectations! This was a mini-moon gift and we had a fantastic time; being able to come back to the comfort and warmth of the hotel after walking to the Biennale or visiting the city felt awesome....

This was our first time at the Aman Venice and it went beyond our expectations! This was a mini-moon gift and we had a fantastic time; being able to come back to the comfort and warmth of the hotel after walking to the Biennale or visiting the city felt awesome. All of the staff was friendly and professional, from the incredible bar manager who personalized a whisky tasting for me on the fly, the concierge(s) who made perfect recommendations and the front office who helped with all the logistics, the restaurant team serving breakfast with a smile, or the room attendants who discretely readied the perfectly arranged room twice a day and left a different amenity each night! Shoutout to the very friendly Gigi who gave us a fantastic sunset boat tour, and the gentleman who I could see was definitely off-duty and leaving the premises in his comfort clothes, but still doubled back to open the gate for us! Of course, the GM was an exquisite presence and a testament to how traditional 5-star hospitality should be, offering pleasant and warm conversations while simultaneously noticing little details and remembering things that make guests feel special and their stay personalized. Thank you from the both of us to the whole Aman Team for making our Venice experience so memorable - grazie mille e arrivederci!

We capped off 10 days in Italy at the Aman Venice, and we had high hopes. Most of our expectations were met, but there are a few items that were sorely disappointing, so it's tough to say that, overall, we found the experience worth the money. Let me start by saying this: The level of service in the hotel generally is top-notch. We were greeted by the general manager on arrival and there was always someone there to open a door or offer assistance. Kudos for this. The hang-up is this: Our room (the basic level bedroom--number 3) was not really *in* the Palazzo. It was, in a literal sense, but it was down an outdoor corridor on the first (lobby) floor and, unfortunately, one door down from the public bathroom. (Room 3 is also accessible by walking through a lobby gift shop, not really what I consider a prime location.) The room was spacious and well appointed, but wholly devoid of any Venice-specific detail. (There were what appeared to be historic brick columns, but we could have been in an New York City loft, or anywhere really.) What had been advertised has having a view of the private garden "below" (alongside a picture of a bed next to a large sunny window) was not what we encountered. The windows in our room were small and situated at the top of the wall, giving the impression that we were not looking down at a garden, but instead that we were in a subterranean bunker. Our wifi signal likewise suggested we were in a bunker--it was spotty even within the confines of our room. This, along with all of the lack of privacy that comes from being on the lobby floor, next to the only public bathroom on the floor, and the noise of people coming and going. I get it. You get what you pay for, and we did not spring for a suite, so maybe we shouldn't complain. But shouldn't the room at least fit the description advertised by the hotel? At very least, the hotel should clarify that these rooms are on the lobby level and, as a result, are not private and secure from non-guests coming and going. Back to not being "in" the Palazzo -- because of the strange location of our room, we literally entered the hotel three or four times. And the hotel is where all of the beautiful and historic details and (I assume, privacy) are. Instead we came and went thru the back entrance to the property which was directly next to the door to the public bathroom next to our room. We would have been more understanding had we not booked a room that included a guaranteed category upgrade if available. I presume the hotel will respond and say that the upgrade offer was only one level, and the level directly above us was full. But the hotel had availability the entirety of our stay, so why not allow us to stay in a nicer, empty room? Or upgrade someone else and let us have their room? I don't expect or feel entitled to upgrades ever, but I do a bit more when they are offered as part of the rate package and, in this case, we were on our honeymoon. Seems like an exception to normal policy could be made. (Speaking of rate packages, ours came with a free 30-minute spa treatment for each guest. But the kicker is that the spa is open odd hours during the day (basically between prime lunchtime and until early evening), so it was never open when we woke up or returned to the hotel after exploring for the day. We tried to take advantage of this perk but could never find time when the spa was open to tell us our treatment options. And no one offered to coordinate this for us.) The other issue: When I stay at a high-end hotel with a nice bar, I expect to be given some preference for space in the bar. Not like kicking anyone out of their seats, but I expect the hotel to make some accommodation so I can have a drink. When we arrived at Aman, our room was not ready and we were invited to wait in the bar. But 20-30 minutes passed and no one waited on us (we were seated but no one came to take our order and there did not appear to be a bartender on duty). By the time someone came over to take our order, another person came to find us and told us our room was ready -- no drink. Twice during our stay we returned to the bar to have a drink, and twice we were turned away. The bar wasn't full, but we were told spaces had been reserved by people who were not staying in the hotel. For a bar that simply didn't seem to be all that in demand during our stay, we certainly felt unwelcome and unimportant. No one ever asked to find a space for us, to have us come back at a later time, or to do anything to address the situation. We were in Venice during low season, and our rate reflected it. Perhaps that somewhat explains our experience. But I certainly wouldn't pay high season rates at the Aman for the experience I had, which I would describe overall as uneven. Terrific service is awesome, but most of the hotel experience is room, and I just don't feel that our room (aside from being large and well appointed) was what was advertised. As for the hotel, it's certainly nice, but given the location of our room, it didn't matter--we were never in it. A bit of a let-down to cap off a honeymoon, but Venice is wonderful and hotel gripes aside, it was wonderful to visit the city.

The restaurant is spectacular. The staff are really welcoming, the rooms are ornate, and the views are beautiful. If you eat in the main restaurant upstairs the rooms are gorgeous (the hotel used to be a palace and you can definitely tell as it still has that vibe). If you eat in the garden overlooking the canal the view is absolutely stunning! Each has a different menu but in both cases the food and presentation are fantastic. The staff are amazing as well! We especially got to know Daniele, Lisa, and Matteo, who were very kind and went the extra mile for us. The concierge was also extremely friendly and helpful. Everyone made sure that anything at all that we needed was taken care of including the luggage, reservations, etc and even a water taxi right from the back of the hotel to the train station when it was time to leave Venice. They did everything possible for us, even though we were staying at a different hotel nearby! We first discovered this place because of its restaurant and it quickly became one of our favorite places. We returned to the restaurant and garden a few times for the great food and because it has some of the best staff in the entire city! Definitely visit Aman, and its restaurant Arva, even if you aren't staying in the hotel. Everything in this place is luxurious. The food is some of the best we had across Italy and the service and atmosphere of the entire place easily put it over the top!

I was in Venice for the day with some friends and we decided to go to the Aman. I wasn’t a guest staying overnight and therefore am unable to speak for the rooms, however the experience was amazing. We had drinks at the bar where Antonio looked after us. His professionalism, warm welcome, knowledge of mixology and passion for the Aman was unforgettable. We instantly felt welcome and part of the Aman. Antonio explained all of the cocktails to us and gave us a tour of all the rooms that inspired the drinks. He was very happy to share knowledge about the history of the building and it really made our time special. I look forward to coming back for the exquisite drinks, stunning location and impeccable service!

We spend an absolutely magical weekend at the Aman in Venice with the two of us. Gorgeous facilities, extraordinary service and an absolutely breathtaking experience. Thank you for everything dear Aman Team, we hope to be back to Venice very soon!

I was very excited to stay at Aman Venice having been to two Aman hotels before with extraordinary experiences. The stay was very disappointing, our room was the "cheapest" one available, at 2,500 Euros a night, and it is exactly what you would expect from a Hilton or Marriott, a completely standard room, run down with mediocre furnishings and in need of maintenance. Service is excellent, everyone is very polite and capable. Food is very good, not extraordinary. Breakfast is ok. I received an email with our folio for incurred expenses and they also tell me that no gratuity has been added and that standard tip in Italy is 10%, so after paying more than 10,000 Euros for a four night stay they were soliciting 40 Euros. At these prices it is unbecoming to solicit tips. As always, service at Four Seasons is much better than Aman although Aman properties are usually very impressive (not Venice). We asked them to arrange a water taxi to the train station and they said it would be about 75 euros to be paid directly with driver. Train station is about 12 minutes away. After about 4 minutes in the taxi the hotel called to say we left some small items in the room so we asked driver to go back to the hotel to pick them up. Arriving at train station I gave driver 100 Euros considering he turned around to pick the things but he said it was 200 Euros and not 75 as he had to go back to the hotel, I understand that he did, but 200 euros? He said it is not me, the hotel told me to charge that so I asked to call hotel, and incredibly they said yes, it is 200 euros. I do not understand what the hotel has to do with it as it was supposedly and independent driver, evidently hotel gets a cut. Again, unbecoming to leave me with a terrible feeling of being abused instead of a nice feeling. And all for 100 Euros, they are very cheap and I will not go back to Aman. They should really learn from Four Seasons, I am sure that they would have said to me "you left some stuff here so please wait for us at the train station, someone is on the way with your things" and of course charged nothing. Cheap Aman, do not go.

Arrive at airport for a seamless greeting, short car ride and boat transfer, arranged through hotel (with welcoming drivers/pilots no less). Be greeted again at the hotel by a team of staff and/or managers (maybe Licinio and Fabio). Be wowed byyour first view of an amazing property that serves as your hotel and your first tourist attraction. Be checked in by Agnesi or Ilaria or Laura or Enrico or Costanza or….all wonderful. Be taken to your room and wonder immediately how you will ever leave as you watch the gondolas pass by your window (pay up for the window view). Sleep in comfort and awaken to an amazing breakfast in a beautiful setting. If you eat dinner at the restaurant you will experience an exquisite meal. All staff at all venues are highly trained and pleasant. Eat lunch in the garden (and maybe have Danilo as your server…if you’re lucky). If you eat out, Francesco or his team will take care of you. All in all ,a treat. Just go when you next have need for the perfect place to celebrate a special event.

We stayed as a couple for a weekend. I loved the hotel - it felt incredibly calming and spacious and I loved the way it has been put together. Location was great with nice restaurants near by and a decent walk to the main attractions. We were lucky with sunny February weather. The staircase and drawing rooms are gorgeous. Would go back.

This was our fourth stay at this Aman property and happy to report that it remains flawless in terms of food, service and luxury comforts. Aman has set the bar so high, it makes for a lovely escape during the touristy summer season. The garden is the perfect setting to watch the action on the Grand Canal but without crowds--an aperitif here is simply sublime. Breakfast in the dining room is one of the most beautiful, palatial settings and worthy of royalty. A tip would be taking an evening gondola ride that is arranged by the hotel without having to go stand in lines with crowds.

What can we say about our stay in Aman Venice. We had a fabulous stay at this amazing property in Venice. The property itself was mesmerizing. It was a unique experience to dine and relax in this Palazzo. The service was efficient and friendly but I must give credit to the breakfast team and the Avra team on the evening of 21 March 2023 that made our birthday celebration so memorable.
