The approach will truly put you off. Right across from the ferries, which, while convenient, is far from charming. The hotel feels like an upscale pensione. Rooms are small, not a deal breaker, as they often are everywhere in Italy (at this price point) But the bathroom, ugh! Teeny, tiny - no place to put toiletries. Worst of all is the bathtub/shower situation. You are taking your life in your hands every time you attempt a shower or a bath. Dangerously slippery and narrow! Husband & I both almost slipped even while taking precaution. What else: public areas nice enough if modest. Very good breakfast spread (though spoiled milk one day in my cappuccino). Staff: waitstaff for breakfast & cocktails, very accommodating, front desk nice enough, tried to provide info requested, but not always accurate (hours of operation or locations, sometimes off base). What you do get is cleanliness, and a fabulous location to get around to the lake towns (as mentioned: ferries are steps away),, the main square & the other sites in Como.

Perfect location Tons of History The hotel is clean and the reception along with the concierge were very accommodating Our breakfast was outstanding with a nice selection of Food Unfortunately, on Friday nite the hotel hosted a Party that was directly below our 3rd Floor Room It started around 7pm and the high volume noise and partying went on till almost Midnite (5hrs of yelling, screaming and singing) We politely complained twice on the phone (my wife) and then once in person (myself) and they absolutely ‘refused’ to do anything This was unacceptable and showed us that they could not care less about the clients that paid a lot of money to stay in their Hotel Even though the Hotel had many good characteristics…………this Saturday nite experience put a real black mark on our stay only because the General Manager refused to address the situation We do not recommend this Hotel there are others along the main road that you need to consider first before you consider Albergo Terminus We didn’t even get an apology!!!

Lake Como has been in my dreams for many many years. Unfortunately this hotel was chosen for us as a pre extension for a river cruise we were doing. I had high expectations and they were mostly not met with this hotel. We arrived to hotel at 8:30am after an overnight flight from the east coast of United States. Every time we have traveled our room has always been ready. However, this was not the case. Long story short our room was not ready until 2:30 even though there were people checking out from the moment we arrived continually. We even tried to upgrade to any available room and would have paid anything but the staff at front desk was just not nice nor helpful. We went back every 1-2hours as we were exhausted but no room. What is equally annoying as nothing was made available to us. I believe breakfast was being served but that was not offered. Waters were not offered. They did take our luggage but we really wanted to freshen up but could not. There was also a “host” there from our river cruise and he was equally as useless. He did not provide any guidance as to where to go, what to see, so after sitting in lobby for an hour and half we went out and got gelato. Finally when room was available I believe we got worst room, 309, as was next to elevator and view was of an alley filled with garbage and recycling. And yes, very noisy as garbage and bottles dumped throughout night. We tried to change but again staff not helpful. The size of room fine, but shower was all glass with two movable panels so you could not rest against a solid surface, Also hair dryer attached to area by sink was so heavy it was impossible to hold high over head to use. Breakfast buffet was lovely in a garden setting……wish we were directed there while waiting for room. Had dinner and food was good but service was very lacking and disjointed. Location wonderful. I think his could be good hotel but believe wait staff and front desk need better guidance.

The staff were extremely helpful and kind throughout our stay. My issue was the condition of the hotel. The bathroom had a strong foul odor coming from the shower. There were a swarm of tiny flies in the room from time to time that they addressed. They did service and clean the room well. But the hotel is very much outdated. Other than that, the hotel is in the best area of Como. You can walk to almost anything and everything.

We really liked the hotel. Even though the room was small, it was comfortable with a lovely view. Windows opened for cool night air and the cheers of football fans from the road below when Italy advanced. The location can’t be beat. Minus one star for the food at the restaurant. Not great for dinner, but the breakfasts were really spectacular. Our biggest issue was that the waiters overcharged us. Same wine with presumably any price they felt like charging. No actual bar. You had to get a table any time you wanted to order a drink. Strange to us, but maybe common in Italy? Overall, I would definitely stay here again.

We splurged on their “one and only” Lake View Jr. Suite and it was worth every euro! We felt like we had our own private little villa in the heart of the Como promenade. The private terrace was HUGE with table and chairs, two comfy chaise lounges and an umbrella; a very comfortable outdoor space. Loved watching all the boats, swans and float planes motor by. We had EPIC views of the lake and the surrounding mountains day and night. Our room was spacious and spotless with high delicately painted ceilings, a huge functioning window facing the lake and two sets of french doors that led out to the fabulous terrace. We enjoyed the cool fresh air and the abundance of natural light. The décor was simple, understated and elegant. Beautiful and effective black-out drapery. Our king size bed was dreamy with clean smelling crisp bed linens and soft lofty pillows. The bathroom was large with an open concept tub/shower combo which may be a little tricky for anyone with even slight balance or mobility issues as it’s a big step up and over in a narrow bathtub space. It would be so easy and SO helpful to add a simple hand rail. Just sayin… It’s an old very well-located beautiful building that at one time was a private residence. Old Town with its maze of cobblestone streets, bars, restaurants and the beautiful gothic Duomo di Como is directly behind the hotel. The hotel is not soundproof. The promenade is loud, crazy crowded and you can hear the traffic. It does quiet down at night; kinda. Lol. It may not suit light-sleepers as we could often hear our neighbors talking (and sneezing), slamming doors and the occasional footsteps above us. Not a deal breaker for us but could be for others. We enjoyed the live music floating up from the restaurant in the evenings. Temp control, water pressure and WiFi were great. Housekeeping was spot on as our suite was beautifully prepared upon our arrival and perfectly refreshed every day. The morning breakfast offering was fresh, plentiful and served in a beautiful space. We had a fabulous dinner and cocktails at the hotel as well. Reception was welcoming but a little curt. They really couldn’t adequately assist with sight-seeing questions or directions and would just hand you a massive map with teeny-tiny font or a paper with the boat/ferry schedules which were difficult to figure out. There doesn’t seem to be a dedicated or a proper concierge. A little strange considering the location and the price point; imho. Our bellman was OUTSTANDING and helped with many little things during our stay. Thank you Buvaneshwaran! Como was our fourth destination during a month long odyssey of Switzerland and northern Italy. I am a total hotel junkie with cRazy high expectations and I could not have chosen a better nest for our 5 nights in beautiful Como. Terminus Di Como was lovely. Highly recommend. Enjoy and peace to all! P.s. Had wonderful dinner(s) at “The Plaza” just around the corner from the hotel. Taught them how to make a fabulous Lemon Drop martini made with fresh house-made limoncello! The owner is delightful and the food was delish!

My husband and I traveled to Como in December and were so impressed with the Albergo Terminus. Our room was spacious with a comfortable king bed, and had a lovely view of the water and piazza below. The location cannot be beat! The hotel is right in the middle of anywhere you'd need to go - the ferry is right across the street. Breakfast in the mornings was incredible, with so many options and friendly staff. Absolutely recommend staying here!

Really enjoyed our stay at this hotel, where the reception team were so helpful, from lending us umbrellas, to making a take away breakfast when we had an early trip excursion. Check in and out was simple and smooth. The hotel is clean and elegant looking. The rooms are not massive but overlook the Lake, the position of the hotel is perfect and within walking distance of everything you could possibly need. The room for breakfast is just divine, again looking out to the lake (this is the same for dinner and drinks but we did not eat there given the amount of local restaurants near by). It was a very reasonable price given the location. Breakfast was simple but still plenty and we rarely needed lunch as we were so full, but if you like lots of choice maybe this would not be for you, there are eggs, sausage, fruits, cold meats, etc usual pastries etc. We had complimentary bottles of water in our room each day too. I would not hesitate to stay here again. Oh and the breakfast staff are the kindest and nicest staff of any hotel I have been to. Service is superb here. Thank you (Tip: If you want to get a ferry the good news is the ticket office is outside the hotel, even if you go at 8am - the bad news is the queue is at least an hour to two hours and you cannot buy tickets online easily or at all for the fast boat, obviously nothing to do with the hotel but useful to know)

My wife and I, along with another couple stayed here for a few nights at the end of August prior to a river cruise out of Switzerland. The location to the ferry, the Funicular, the Duomo and pretty much everything else we wanted to walk to and see could be done from the Terminus. It’s a great little boutique hotel. The breakfast was included and tasted good. The bar, which is the same are was great in the afternoon/evening when back from a day of exploring and before going out for dinner. The rooms are typical size for Europe and not big but good enough. It was warm there when we were there and we asked for a fan, which they had available for us. Italian AC is not the same as what we have at home. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. Our only complaint would be that our room looked out over the back alley area and we got to hear the glass bottles being dumped in the trash from the store that shared the alley and got to look down over their trash bins. Our friends had a room with a good view of the lake. But not bad overall for a great little hotel. The staff was friendly and accommodating.

The restaurant was excellent with really nice wine by the glass which was unusual and situated on a terrace overlooking the lake. My only niggle would be that I was given wrong information by reception about booking ferries, maybe the hotel could provide some written information as I am sure we weren’t the only people confused and our Italian is rubbish. But would still definitely visit again.

Old world charm and convenience. From the moment we arrived we were treated with great care and respect. Although we didn’t choose this hotel (Viking River Cruise) ourselves, I don’t think we could have found a better location. The rooms are elegant and reminiscent of a bygone era. Conveniently located near the ferry, the Duomo, lots of restaurants and the funicular, the location cannot be beat. Impeccably clean. The rooms are comfortable and our room in particular a picture perfect view of Lake Como. A great hotel, especially nice as we had no choice. Breakfast was incredible every morning of our 3 day stay. We enjoyed a wonderful martini at the bar and a memorable dinner served with style and elan. Mille Grazie Albergo Terminus Hotel!

The only good thing about this hotel is the beautiful restaurant and breakfast. I'm racking my brain trying to figure out how this is a luxury hotel. Our room was 105 which is one of two rooms on the first floor. It felt like a dungeon, with barely a view of the entrance parking lot. There was not one moment of silence. The staff "hallway/bathroom??" Is located behind a door next to these two rooms and all night you hear footsteps, toilet flushing, door slamming, chatter, and whatever they roll down the hall. You can hear every street noise and the music from the bar/restaurant late into the night. The the thermostat did not turn on at all which we were told was "controlled by Como" and not the hotel but what resulted was fluctuations between hot and cold with no benefit of ambient noise from a fan. Maybe other guests had a better experience because they weren't banned to the dungeon rooms of the first floor. For as much as we paid to stay in this hotel we should have been afforded the opportunity to enjoy it and have a restful night sleep. The worst two nights I have ever experienced in a hotel. If you stay here and they put you in room 104 or 105 I would highly suggest requesting a new room immediately (but good luck that they will accommodate).

Stayed here over Easter for a long weekend. Hotel is situated on the edge of Lake Como and has stunning views. The inside decor is stylish and beautiful. The staff were always polite and helpful. The breakfast was a lovely experience with its location and the food was plentiful. The room was not the biggest but fully equipped and gave a stunning view. Be aware that on some nights the music from the restaurant can be heard in the room if you faced the lake (this wasn’t an issue for us). The terrace was great for having a drink and people watching too. From here we used the ferry to venture to Bellagio and Varenna (and the sights en route). Great day out but time your trip well as this can take up to 3 hours each way. Also took the funicular to Brunate … if you go here then walk to lighthouse (or take minibus for €2.50 pp) and visit MamaGina … great views / food. Definitely recommended this hotel. NOTE: The promenade around the Lake is currently being upgraded so a lot of building work going on (nothing any of the hotels can do about this but be aware).
