Honeymoon couples with love this beautiful resort. From the second you pull in under the canopy of trees with lanterns hanging down! Magical! Then, when you check in you’ll find that virtually all of the staff members around the property are incredibly friendly and upbeat. Even though this is a large property, you’ll always have the feeling instead of being in a romantic and fairly secured tropical paradise.
For active couples the snorkeling right off of the beach is very good and you’d not be surprised to see a sea turtle, and even when on land you’ll be treated to great views, with lots of boats, whales, and great sunsets. For foodie couples you’ll find that the restaurants and pool bar have great food and the service is relaxed, Nearby the resort are some great shops and restaurants, plus world-class gold and tennis also nearby.

Visit the shopping center
Great·Jun 2026
This hotel is all about selling more. Most of the rooms appear to be noisy. As titanium elite, we did request and receive a quiet room - our only benefit at this hotel for our loyalty to Marriott. The best thing about the hotel is the walking path on one side and the outstanding shopping/dining center on the other.

Very comfortable beds, nice and clean rooms, pools are great not too overpopulated + waiter/waitress service by the pools and at restaurants are both great. Short little walk to the beach also!

My wife, daughter, and I spent a wonderful week in room 7123 and can’t wait to get back.
We arrived around midnight and were greeted with a welcome beverage and leis. The nice folks then loaded our luggage onto a golf cart and drove us to our room. We were pretty spent from a long travel day, and quite relieved to find a very comfortable bed waiting for us.
Our room was of the “partial ocean view” variety, but I’m pretty sure quite a few other resorts would have left off the “partial”. We had a great view from the first floor (pic included).
The next morning was our first experience with breakfast at Humble Market Kitchin (yes, that’s how it’s spelled). We were fortunate enough to have Kate as our server. She was so great we asked for her every morning. She learned our drink orders, took great care of us, and gave us great recommendations for cheap and free things to do around the island. In the off chance you read this, Kate, you’re a superstar!
The breakfast buffet was really good, with changing offerings each day. My daughter particularly liked the mochi waffles and pancakes, and the bacon was always perfectly crisp. We ended up eating there every day aside from one when we had a very early start.
That first full day was one of relaxing by the pool. Since our daughter (10) was with us, we spent essentially all of our time at the Nalu Adventure Pool. It has four water slides, including the longest one on Maui. There’s also a full service bar, plenty of shade, and poolside dining service from the nearby Mo Bettah food truck.
Near the Nalu pool is a pavilion with a ping pong table. My daughter dragged me over there several times for a game. She was determined to beat me on our last day there, but we arrived to find that somebody had lost the ball. I went to the bar to see if they had more. I’ve got to give a big shout out to Maliko (I sure hope I’m spelling that right) at the analysis pool bar. He got right on the phone and had somebody bring us some ping pong balls in a matter of minutes. Thanks to some creative scorekeeping, the kid was finally able to beat me.
We also had dinner from Luigi’s Andiamo Pizza one night. It was great, and bigger than we expected. We all got our own pie, but could have easily gone with just two of them.
Our last night there we ate at Kapa near the ‘Ohi Pools. The pan seared daily catch (blue marlin that particular night) was fantastic. It was perfectly cooked fish, tender gnocchi, and vegetables with a very well balanced lemon and caper sauce.
From check in to check out, everybody we encountered was friendly, helpful, and an embodiment of Aloha spirit. The grounds of the hotel are well kept, clean, and very user friendly. It is a large resort, but the buildings are spaced and angled in a way that make it feel much smaller and more intimate. That said, the abundant hills and stairs may present challenges from those with mobility issues. Given the number of golf carts on hand, though, I’d imagine they’d be happy to help shuttle folks around if necessary.
We kept ourselves pretty busy while on the island, so there were some things at the resort we didn’t get to check out. Whale’s Tale coffee is right down by the water. It looks like a great place to have a cup of coffee with a ln ocean view. We also didn’t get to go to the Te Au Moana luau. Our rom did have a view of the luau grounds, though, and it definitely looked like a good time. Since the kiddo was along for this trip, we didn’t get to take advantage of the Maluhia pool or Olakino Wellness experience. That just sounds like an excuse to go back!
I’d highly recommend Wailea Beach Resort if you’re heading to Maui. It’s in a great location for beach going, shopping (right next door) and relaxing. It’s the perfect home base for exploring the island. The people and property were fantastic, and I’d absolutely love to return.
In the interest of not sounding like an ad, I should probably issue a couple of very minor warnings. First, the air conditioning in the room was…adequate at best. It seemed to always be warmest at night in our room. I’m more sensitive to that that a lot of people, though. If you are too, I’d recommend bringing a fan.
Secondly, our building (Hale 7) was right next to the luau grounds. It looked and sounded like a great time. If you’re an early to bed type who’s sensitive to noise, though, it might be a good idea to request a different building. It was never an issue for us, but I can see how it might be for others. Neither of those things would impact my decision to stay again or to recommend it to others. This is a fantastic place to stay and play at a great value. If I have anything to say about it, we’ll be back in the future.

First Review Dec 2024:
I haven’t written a review for a really long time. But I loved my time at the Wailea Beach Resort so much, I wanted to share. Not only was the hotel lovely but the people who worked there made my experience 1000% better. My stay would not have been anywhere near as special without my pre-trip help from Zelie (guest experience expert at the wailea). She also was at the resort during my stay and helped solve a small issue for me.
I loved the Olakino pool experience. I was looking for relaxation - this was it! The poolside live chill music and beach lounger massage were perfection.
There’s something for everyone here. If you’re a family, a huge kids pool with slides, relaxation (see above), and boarded by gorgeous beaches. For dining, we were lucky enough to see whales and turtles from the Whales Tale and Humble Kitchen was delicious. I loved my stay here and just wish it had been longer.
Thanks again for helping make it special; Zelie, Gerlie and Kayln!

My wife and I stayed 4 nights on Maui at the Wailea Beach Resort. We had often seen this property on previous visits to Maui, so we decided to give it a try. It was a nice mellow stay. We got room 2216, which is about as oceanfront as possible at this resort. Beautiful view and relaxing sound of the surf. The coast in front of the property is rocky. It's a reasonably short walk to two separate beaches to the north and south.
The room was nice, but not quite as posh as other places we've stayed in Hawaii at a similar price. The usual amenities like a coffee maker, safe, iron, and etc. However, no bathrobes or slippers.
There are several pools, including a kid's pool with water slides and fountains. I think kids would like it. There's also an adult pool with a great view. It was quite crowded.
The resort does not have its own breakfast restaurant. We were given coupons we could redeem for a very basic breakfast at Starbucks or Whale's Tail coffee house. We also splurged one morning and went to the on-site Humble Market Kitchin for a $49 per person breakfast buffet. It was, sadly, somewhat uninspired. We tried the KAPA Bar & Grill for lunch. Their Kalua Pork Tacos were amazingly good.
Like all the resorts on this stretch of Wailea coastline, this is a big, sprawling property. That makes them seem a bit impersonal.

We stayed in a standard room that was quiet and had a comfortable bed but definitely needed improvement (shower leaks, mirror cracked, few outlets, etc). Housekeeping worked differently than what I've experienced before, in that they don't pick up any trash or arrange your clothes neatly. The views are incredible at this resort! I can't imagine better. The service from Brad and Lanze at the adult-only pool was exceptional! Would not recommend one of the other smaller pools though- it was super cloudy every day. The food from the bar/grill is fine. The Wi-Fi is not good at all. Loved the short walk to The Shops at Wailea.

Our youngest daughter has food allergies to egg, peanut, and tree nut. In advance of our stay, we contacted the resort in regards to an allergen menu. Mr. Charles Anders replied in advance with a personalized menu for her, which was beyond our expectation. This allowed her to enjoy food options beyond our typically conservative choices, which greatly enhanced the enjoyment of her and our stay.
We appreciated the personal care and accommodation to her needs. Mahalo and thanks again for your efforts!

The Marriott Wailea was very nice and huge! It was in a great location next door to the Grand Wailea Hotel. Beautiful beach walking path to all the hotels including the Four Seasons and the Fairmont. The Wailea Mall is also walkable with limited shops. The Marriott has a free shuttle to many area restaurants. We had an ocean front room that was comfortable and clean nothing extradionary.
The best part of our stay was the new wellness spa pool Olakino. You pay extra per day or 1/2 day. Adults only, plush lounge chairs, big umbrellas, personal service, your water glass is never empty. The staff was incredible and knew you by your first name. Gorgeous view, live music, 2 passed snacks. Yes it comes with a price tag but well worth the price of admission. Cheers to the incredible staff at this pool!
I traveled with my husband and another couple no children. But if you are traveling with kids there was a tremendous amount of activities for them.
The food selection on the property was great-Starbucks, pizza and 2 other restaurants on site.

Our room was lovely, with a balcony overlooking the ocean which was simple, comfortable, and exactly what we were looking for
The hotel has a lot of great amenities: The adults only infinity pool was incredible with its panoramic views, the gym was solid for a quick workout, and the small on-site shops added a nice touch. The bartenders at the bar by the infinity pool were great, creating a memorable experience
The resort is large, so navigating to the room took a bit of time, but it didn’t detract from the overall experience. It also helped to get some steps in!
A beautiful & relaxed stay that felt like the perfect Maui experience.

Awesome family-friendly resort that punches far above its weight class!

I am rating this property based on 13 specific criteria on a 1-10 scale:
1. Overall rating and vibe: 10. Awesome family-friendly resort with great vibes, incredible ocean views, and strong value for your money. Rooms could be renovated to be larger, and have much larger bathrooms and more Hawaii-specific decor, but the public areas, pools, waterslides, and staff here are 10/10!
2. Service: 10. Every single staff member with whom we interacted over our 3 days here showed genuine “Aloha Spirit." While the service is not as intuitive or seamless as the Four Seasons, it is still extremely elevated and made us feel more like we were staying at a luxury-branded Marriott property (e.g., St. Regis, Edition, or Ritz-Carlton).
3. Room: 8.5. The room had a gorgeous oceanfront view and gorgeous Instagram-worthy sundeck. However, it also had low ceilings and a small bathroom (with no bathtub, no separate WC, and only a single sink). With renovations that expanded the rooms in size, this place would be a St. Regis/Edition, because everything else about the property exudes true luxury.
4. Complimentary amenities: 10. Many complimentary amenities in stark contrast to neighbor "Grand" Wailea which offers ZERO. At check-in, adults and Keiki are greeted with leis, chilled POG juice, and chocolate bars. The resort has a long list of complimentary activities. Sunscreen by the pools is complimentary. Kids under 5 eat free. The front desk offers complimentary daily amenities, often chocolate bars. Complimentary fresh fruit and extra bottled water was delivered to our room upon check-in (along with a card) to recognize my milestone birthday. There is a great, complimentary arcade room which my 3 kids LOVED.
5. Pools: 10. Amazing pools. 3 oceanfront infinity pools (2 of which are adult-only), plus the family-friendly Nalu adventure pool. The only change I would recommend is to switch the adult-only status of the Maluhia and Ohi pools so that the family-friendly pools (Nalu and Maluhia) and the adult-only pools (Ohi and Olakino) are located next to each other.
6. Cabanas: 9.5. Incredible service at the cabana we rented next to Nalu pool. The only reason I do not give a 10/10 rating here is that $400 is a bit steep, when compared to neighbor competitors Four Seasons (free cabanas) and Fairmont ($300 cabanas). However, compared to the neighbor “Grand” Wailea’s WILD price-gouged ($3,600+tax) cabanas, $400 per day seems reasonable!
7. Waterslides: 11. The Nalu adventure pool has 4 waterslides. 2 of them are big and have 48” height minimums. The other two are small and perfect for 2-5 year olds. The Big Kahuna was by far my favorite of all the resorts in Wailea we stayed at on this trip. At 325 feet, it is also the longest resort waterslide in ALL of Hawaii. The Wailea Wipeout is for thrill-seekers. By contrast, the Big Kahuna offered a calm ride so approachable that even my 71-year-old parents LOVED it!
8. Cleanliness: 9.5. Excellent cleanliness throughout the resort. The only deduction here is because housekeeping here is only ONCE daily, meaning they do not provide any evening turndown service (which is standard at the Fairmont and Four Seasons).
9. Family friendliness: 10. The Arcade is a massive hit with kids, but there’s also the Nalu adventure pool with its waterslides and waterfall-showered grotto, as well as life-sized chess, corn hole, etc. Extremely family-friendly resort!
10. Dining: 8. Superb service and food at Kapa for dinner. Exceptional service and food at Humble Market Kitchen for breakfast buffet, which includes GF pancakes and waffles, which were a huge hit with my 2 Celiac kids. However, when we ate dinner at Humble Market Kitchen, the service was austere and lacking in “aloha spirit,” and the food quality was underwhelming.
11. Luxury: 9. Everything about this property exudes luxury and is very design-forward, except for the undersized, austere rooms. If this property renovated its rooms to be 1.5-2x larger, its bathrooms to be 3-4x larger and include tubs, separate WCs, and dual vanities, and raised the ceilings by 1.5x height, it would easily qualify to be re-branded as a St. Regis, Edition, or Ritz-Carlton property as opposed to a standard, 4-star Marriott. This resort has rightfully earned the AAA Four Diamond Award and Forbes 3-star (“Recommended”) rating. With the above room renovations, this property would be worthy of AAA Five Diamond status, and would be on the cusp of Forbes 4 or 5 stars, as well as Michelin 1-2 keys.
12. Room for improvement: 9. Three ideas for improvement: (1) switch the “adult-only” status of Maluhia and Ohi pools such that the neighboring Olakino and Ohi pools are adult-only, and the neighboring Maluhia and Nalu pools are family-friendly. (2) Train dinner servers at Humble Market Kitchen to exude more “aloha” warmth. (3) Renovate the rooms and bathrooms to be much larger.
13. Value for Families with Kids: 10. Incredible value for families with kids, in stark contrast to the neighbor “Not Grand” Wailea, which offers ZERO value to its “guests."

Every staff member we interacted with was warm, friendly, and attentive. The pool areas were well stocked with plenty of towels and chairs, which made our days there easy and stress-free.
There are several on-site dining options. While they are on the pricier side, we found that to be consistent with most places on the island. The shuttle service to nearby restaurants and the golf course was a great perk and made getting around very convenient.
Two employees truly made our stay exceptional. Paige, who served us twice in the restaurant and once at the pool, went out of her way to make our kids feel special and included. She was incredibly warm and engaging—we were always happy to see her. In fact, we changed our dinner plans on our last night just so we could dine where she was working because our kids were so excited to see her again.
Arman at the front desk also went above and beyond to help with a request, and did so with genuine kindness and professionalism. His friendliness really stood out.
We loved our stay and would happily return.
