Honeymoon couples with love this beautiful resort. From the second you pull in under the canopy of trees with lanterns hanging down! Magical! Then, when you check in you’ll find that virtually all of the staff members around the property are incredibly friendly and upbeat. Even though this is a large property, you’ll always have the feeling instead of being in a romantic and fairly secured tropical paradise.

For active couples the snorkeling right off of the beach is very good and you’d not be surprised to see a sea turtle, and even when on land you’ll be treated to great views, with lots of boats, whales, and great sunsets. For foodie couples you’ll find that the restaurants and pool bar have great food and the service is relaxed, Nearby the resort are some great shops and restaurants, plus world-class gold and tennis also nearby.

Feels a little less special than it used to

Writing this review halfway through a weeklong stay and tl;dr this is a gorgeous property with service that doesn't feel quite as special as it used to - and at the price you pay to stay here, it really is a bummer when anything feels off. The problem - and to be clear, it is an incredibly lucky "problem" to have - is that we've been coming here for years and have had some truly exceptional stays; unfortunately, this stay has been nice but with some hiccups. Check-in was haphazard (agent forgot to talk through breakfast & loyalty amenities and we had to double back down later; a different agent made a big show of giving us an extra breakfast coupon but she had not in fact given us an extra breakfast coupon, she also semi insulted our clothes in a way that was meant to be a joke but didn't really land; we weren't able to apply upgrade certificates and ended up in a very standard room which is the first time we weren't offered something special when an upgrade wasn't available - this is obviously just how it goes sometimes and having loyalty doesn't actually entitle you to anything you don't explicitly pay for, but as repeat customers who have been offered *something* as a sorry-we-can't-upgrade-you-but-we-appreciate-your-loyalty every other time we've been here, I'll admit we felt a little disappointed right off the bat). There have been some clear cost-cutting choices made by the property (no more free mai tai coupons at check-in, changed beach rental cost structure, constant attempts to upsell into pool-based experiences, removal of property lounge chairs likely in an effort to encourage purchasing of cabanas, no more impossible breakfast sandwiches at Starbucks, no more slippers in rooms, fewer bath amenities in room by default, etc). None of these are massive deals in the grand scheme, but when you've come to expect a certain standard of stay and that standard declines from one visit to the next, you do notice. To be clear, this is still a magnificent property on a beautiful island and the fact that so much is accessible via walking and you can really choose your own adventure (this is as wonderful a choice for couples as it is families as it is a work group) means that at the right price (or points redemption rate), others should absolutely consider staying here; I probably will continue to come back because I'm a creature of habit and this is one of my happy places. But increased prices and decreased service standards do mean that I'm no longer guaranteed to pick this property over others, and I may consider other properties after this trip.

The Beachfront Resort Mom Deserves 🌺

Wailea Beach Resort exceeded every expectation, and I came in with high ones. I surprised my mom with this trip, and watching her reaction when she saw the property for the first time is something I'll never forget. By the end of our stay she told me she could live here forever and that she wants to make this a regular trip to this specific resort. (She's visited Maui many times before so that says a lot). From the moment we arrived, the warmth of the staff set the tone. We were welcomed with fresh fruit and leis, offered golf cart rides anywhere on the property the second we needed them, and never once felt like we had to ask twice for anything. We even got a text after our first night asking if there was anything they could do to improve our stay. Everyone we encountered seemed genuinely happy to be there and that energy is contagious. Our room had an ocean view that swept us off our feet. Waking up to that every morning and being able to walk directly from our room to the beach in seconds made the whole stay feel otherworldly. The property sits nestled between two beautiful golden sand beaches, and the access couldn't be easier. The highlight of our entire trip was snorkeling with Joy. She took us out on kayaks to Paeahu Reef - right in front of the resort - and it was one of the most peaceful, beautiful experiences I've ever had on a trip. Joy is clearly someone who has spent years getting to know this reef. She knew exactly where to take us, pointed out species we never would have spotted on our own, and led us through these stunning underwater arches that felt like something out of a nature documentary. We saw an incredible variety of fish and felt completely safe the entire time. She was knowledgeable, joyful like her name, and the kind of guide who makes you feel like you're the only guests she's ever taken out. If you stay here - book the snorkel experience with Joy!! Don't skip it. Beyond the water, the resort itself offers so much to explore. The pools are beautiful, the adults-only Olakino wellness pool is a dream. There are bikes to rent, beach chairs, lei making, cultural activities, and enough to fill two weeks without ever leaving the property. It never felt overcrowded, the vibe was relaxed, intentional, and quietly luxurious. My mom said she wants to come back every year. I think she's right. If you're looking for a place in Maui that balances world-class amenities with genuine Hawaiian warmth and direct ocean access to one of the most beautiful reefs on the island, this is it. We will absolutely be back. Thank you, Wailea Beach Resort for a 10/10 stay!!
