Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea

Such a great hotel. The nicest and most gracious staff. Beautiful beach. Excellent restaurants. Here is where I split hairs. The sun sets at seven most months, but they collect the umbrella and chairs at the beach at 5 PM-sharp. They also wrap up the pools at 6 PM. So no cocktail in the infinity pool as you watch the sunset. The resort faces west so the sunsets are extraordinary. The rooms are being updated, but the ones we stated were definitely on the older side. For the price of the room per night I would’ve liked better shampoos, conditioners, and body products. I would’ve liked a Virtue product, Olaplex, Josie Maran. They use a “Hawaiian”brand and it definitely dried me out.

We stayed here with our kids for 4 nights on our way home from Japan. Overall the property is sprawling (not too big though) and beautiful. We were given newly redone rooms which were very nice. The rooms were big and finished out nicely, they had a dining area and living room. That all being said this did not feel like a four seasons, I would compare it more to a big brand hotel not a luxurious one. Also, the crowd was mixed between high and low. My little ones were disappointed that the hotel didn’t do anything special for the kids as they usually do at four seasons, like a stuffed animal or toy, and kids bath products. They always love the little four seasons surprises, here there were none. The property has an issue with birds. They were flying all over the breakfast restaurant and the pool area. The birds were brave and would swoop in and eat from the plates. This grossed me out big time. They were flying around the buffet too. The whole place is under renovation, so the gym and spa were temporary. But, we enjoyed playing pickle ball, We loved Ferraros, we went there 3 times. The breakfast at Duo was ok, definitely not incredible like we were expecting, and room service breakfast was worse. If we went to Maui, I would possibly stay here again but would know what to expect.

I've travelled all over the world staying at top resorts and this is still my favorite spot. Still paradise after all these years. I was here for my honeymoon in 1997 then again in 1999 and it's even better than ever. It was outdated for a while but now much better. The rooms look beautiful. Love the new sushi bar in the lobby, adult pool with swim up bar and lots of complimentary cabanas above the ocean and lower pools-nice touch. The service and staff were as always top notch-love how they call you by name everywhere.-nice touch. The food at the adult pool and Ferraro's was fantastic. Breakfast buffet was just ok. I had AX Platinum so got to check in early and check out late which was appreciated. Loved the keycard wristbands so never had to search for key. Only negative was the gym which was so hot I had to cut my workout short at 8:30 am. The old gym on the ground floor was the best in the world so I know its being renovated and this gym is temporary but not good-has to be a better option. Hopefully it will be done by end of June.

The bed and pillows are the stuff dreams are made of. I NEVER rest on vacation, but could have stayed in this bed all day. The rooms are huge. Loved the wrist-band keys. The pool attendants who make up the chairs are a lovely touch, and the set up was super comfortable. The pool servers were amazing. We had Shayne as a server 2 days in a row, and it was an absolute pleasure. His food recommendations and attention were top notch. Casey also made our pool days an absolute joy, and handled our large group with ease. Both remembered us and greeted us by name. Housekeeping was also great. Loved being able to indicate when we were out for the day so that our room could be serviced. Somehow there were never housekeepers or housekeeping carts present in the hallways - yet everything was always clean! That said, it would have been nice if there had been some extra small touch to make turn down service feel a little more special. (We’ve stayed at resorts where they offer a personalized selection of aromatherapy at night, the sound machine turned to a station of choice, etc.) The massage was quite possibly the best of my life. However, the spa is under construction. The massage itself was in a hotel room, as was the changing room and lounge. I changed in one of those pop up closets you see backstage. And I heard clangs and bangs throughout my massage. So while the massage therapist herself was amazing, it wasn’t quite the luxury spa experience I was envisioning, and I wouldn’t recommend until the construction is complete. The hotel food was all tasty and, while prices were high, as anticipated, serving sizes were not skimpy, which we appreciate. Standouts were the meatballs at Ferraro, and both the spicy ahi tuna nachos and the hummus plate poolside. The building itself appears a little dated on the outside, and honestly the rooms feel luxurious yet slightly … vanilla. But all in all - I didn’t want to leave.

In the middle of an eight day stay here. I haven’t been here in 25 years! It feels the same; it is still the same amazing Four Seasons, Maui. My sister and brother-in-law are also staying here, however, even longer. We booked club-level for this stay, which I can’t recommend enough. The morning, afternoon and evening offerings, in addition to the standard, “all the time” offerings, coupled with the absolute next level A-Team staff is worth every extra penny. The food is fantastic, and even my incredibly food-picky spouse was blown away. Special mentioned to all of the club-floor staff members, however JiJi stole our heart, she is a gem. Special mention also to Kathy, who assisted with this reservation prior to us arriving; she is amazing. Also special mentioned to Bellman Ricky, he is incredibly personable and friendly. We had a couple of very strange issues at arrival, I won’t get into detail, and it wasn’t a game changer. But my only other complaint was actually related to that because a couple days later I went down to the front desk, specifically asking to speak with the Rooms Division Manager or the Front Office Manager, (and I was very specific about that) and instead of honoring that request or explaining that one of those folks was not available, they sent a hotel assistant manager out to speak with me. And then, there was no follow-up. This resort is very special, the only issue is once you stay here, there may be no other resort in the world that will meet the overall experience this one offers!

Without a doubt among a handful of hotels worldwide we have stayed at. Absolutely exceptional service from the minute we pulled up at the hotel. The restaurants are fantastic. We thought we would venture out and eat outside of the hotel but could resist how good the food was. One night, we simply ate and had cocktails in the hotel lobby! The rooms are spacious and the bathroom was enormous and well appointed. And although the spa and gym are under construction, the temporary gym is fantastic (we did not use the spa). There was even someone who walked around the pool and cleaned my sunglasses! THAT is outstanding service. A truly memorable 4 nights/days.

Our first visit to Four Seasons Resort Maui won’t be our last! Incredible views, amenities, and accomodations. Our room was stocked with everything needed plus we had a large outdoor porch with living area, lounge chairs, and a table where we ate a private dinner one evening. We enjoyed a fantastic private cabana one day - adult only pool with view of the ocean and all day service that included lunches, champagne, drinks, and snacks. On the other days there were plenty of chairs available at the pool with shade. We also took advantage of one of their recommended experiences - a rain forest hike and waterfall swim here the guides picked us up at the hotel and dropped us off at the end of the day, which was great. We worked out in their full equipped fitness center and had a couples massage by the ocean - can’t beat that for relaxation! I’d be remiss to not miss the extensive daily breakfast buffet, I might miss that the most! Our stay was fabulous, can’t recommend this resort highly enough.

Huge thanks to Rachel and Galina. We recently spent four days at the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea in late April to celebrate my partner’s 45th birthday, and it was nothing short of spectacular. Three weeks before arrival, I challenged the Concierge Team with a series of high-demand sunset dining requests. Rachel and Galina didn’t just secure the tables; they curated our entire stay with personalized recommendations and VIP access that made us feel like the only guests on Maui. The attention to detail was breathtaking. From the chef’s signature dessert, personalized for dinner, to the "wow" moment of returning to a room elegantly transformed with balloons and heartfelt decor, the team bypassed the "standard". It went straight for the "unforgettable." What truly set the experience apart was the seamless communication; every staff member we encountered offered a warm birthday greeting. I am rating this property based on 13 specific criteria on a 1-10 scale (with several 11s for going above and beyond and into "the best on earth" status): 1. Overall rating and vibe: 11. This is the most exceptional, truest 5-star resort on earth. 2. Service: 11. Service is UNIFORMLY warm, genuine, intuitive, and seamless. 3. Room: 11. For a small price, we were upgraded from a standard Mountain View room to a very large Prime Deluxe Ocean View Room with 2 queens plus a queen sleeper sofa and a stunning direct ocean view, which easily fit a family of 5. The 100% marble bathroom was fit for royalty and I especially loved the built-in speakers with Hawaiian music on channel 1 and widely-adjustable volume from 1-9. The beds were pure nirvana with the most comfortable sheets and perfect support that enabled incredible sleep. Also thoughtful touches throughout room to promote restful sleep, including a rechargeable flashlight in the bathroom so you can turn all the lights out and still find the WC in the middle of the night in a dark room. 4. Complimentary amenities: 11. The ultra-long list of complimentary amenities frankly puts all other resorts worldwide to shame, and includes: “kids for all seasons” kids club (open 9-5), house car (multiple extended Escalades), full lei greeting for all adults and Keiki including cold drinks and ice-cold Oshibori washcloths, so many Keiki amenities in the room (sponges in each kids’ name, bath robes, slippers, kids for all seasons caps, kids for all seasons flip flops, sunglasses, kids shampoo, conditioner, and body wash set for each kid), welcome treats in the room, all cabanas and lounge chairs and unlimited towels, highly elevated poolside service that includes complimentary frozen treats being passed out every 30-45 minutes, complimentary sunglasses cleaning, complimentary sunscreen, complimentary water stations with delicious fruit-infused water all around the pools and delivered to your cabana, complimentary water and coffee throughout the resort, many complimentary activities including yoga, Hawaiian outrigger canoe excursion, and many more, no resort fee… the list goes on and on. One thing is abundantly clear: the resort’s owner has made a conscious decision NOT to nickel-and-dime guests which stands in stark contrast to the "Grand" Wailea next door which literally nickel-and-dimes its guests (or perhaps more accurately, its prisoners) at literally every opportunity that it can. 5. Pools: 11. The pools are divine and 100% saltwater, which makes a drastic difference in your enjoyment of them. For grownups or those seeking quiet, there is a gorgeous infinity pool that is located above the other pools and features sweeping views of Wailea beach, the Pacific Ocean, and neighboring islands like Lanai, as well as of West Maui (which looks like another island, but is not). The lower pools are all family friendly and quite active with playing children, which we loved. The waterfall pool has two levels with a very small waterslide connecting them and a gorgeous waterfall in the upper level. The fountain pool is the resort’s beating heart with a massive fountain in the middle, two hot tubs (at either end), and an endless number of COMPLIMENTARY cabanas surrounding the pool. It is truly divine. When we were there, there were a large group of kids from ages 3 to 14 (ish) from at least a dozen different racial/cultural/ethnic backgrounds who were beautifully playing a game of football toss with each other for hours. Watching them all play beautifully together gave me great confidence in America’s future, as these kids are our country’s future leaders. 6. Cabanas: 11. Did I mention the cabanas are ALL COMPLIMENTARY (except at the adult pool) and incredibly luxurious? They are also serviced by the world’s best pool staff who will move mountains to make any request happen. For example, although GF pizza was not on the poolside menu, our cabana server was able to secure a GF pizza from neighboring Ferraro’s which was a huge hit with my two Celiac kids. It’s all the little things like this (literally ALL of the staff going out of their way to make your stay absolutely perfect) that makes the Maui Four Seasons a true unicorn, not just in Maui, but worldwide. 7. Waterslides: N/A. There is only one tiny (6-foot-long?) waterslide that connects the upper waterfall pool to the lower one. It is a perfect “my first waterslide” for kids aged 2-4, just make sure they’re wearing floaties and/or you catch them at the bottom! 8. Cleanliness: 11. The housekeeping staff here are true unicorns as well. They do TWICE daily housekeeping with evening turndown service and they don’t just clean your room, they also tidy it with a focus on neatening and streamlining all of your clutter (which can be a lot of stuff with 3 kids). They anticipate your needs without you even knowing you have them, such as winding your phone charger neatly so you won’t trip over it at night when you visit the bathroom. They also offer unlimited complimentary bottled water. The resort also has several awesome cleaning robots (in the lobby areas and on the various hotel floors) who keep the floors absolutely spotless all day and all night. These were a particularly huge hit with my kids who enjoyed watching the robots clean and followed them around to observe their cleaning acumen. 9. Family friendliness: 11. Incredibly family friendly for all the reasons mentioned above. Do not hesitate to bring kids here! They will LOVE this place (all 3 of my kids said this was easily their favorite resort in Wailea, even though it doesn’t have any large waterslides or water features beyond pools with fountains and waterfalls). That’s because this resort goes out of its way, at every turn, to make kids feel welcome, special, and like royalty. 10. Dining: 10. Excellent food at Duo, superb food at Ferraro’s, and an exceptional breakfast buffet that is a good value (kids 5 and under eat free, $20 for older kids, $59 for adults). GF pancakes and waffles are made to order by the chef and were delicious. Also many GF options at lunch and dinner, including for kids. 11. Luxury: 11. This resort sets the global standard for luxury and is the truest of true 5-star resorts. For decades, it has rightly earned 5 stars from Forbes and 5 diamonds from AAA. It should be a Michelin 3-key property as well, and I believe its recent 1-key rating from Michelin was a snub and not reflective of this property’s actual luxury level and truly iconic status which should clearly earn it a 3-key (highest possible) rating from Michelin. 12. Room for improvement: Not applicable! This place is already BEYOND PERFECT. 13. Value for Families with Kids: 10. Long list of complimentary amenities—especially for families with kids—which makes this resort by far the best value for your money in Wailea, and likely all of Hawaii.

What an amazing trip to FS Maui! The resort is gorgeous and the beach is now one of my favorite beaches. We loved the complimentary outrigger excursion. We saw a mom, dad, and baby whale. They were breaching and it was one of the most magical experiences of my life! We were there in mid-February. There is a path that takes you along the shoreline past other resorts. It's beautiful to walk at sunset and we saw a lot of whales in the distance. Beach: The ocean water is so clear and the temperature was great. We also did paddle-boarding and kayaking. The resort offers a complimentary yoga class in the morning which was serene. Pools: They were so busy, I actually didn't spend any time at them. I tried the adult pool twice but there was a waitlist. I wish there was a third pool that was not as crowded. Pickleball: So great that it was complimentary and the courts were very nice. My kids and I spent a lot of time there. Breakfast buffet: LOVED it! I loved that they offered a different seafood dish daily: octopus salad, tuna poke, shrimp cocktail. Also, their taro rolls were delicious and their pastries were amazing. This was definitely our favorite dining at the resort. The rooms: Beautiful and clean. I especially loved the sound system in the bathroom with Hawaiian music playing. All in all - a wonderful trip and I would highly recommend!!
