Reviews of Secret Harbour Beach Resort
Great resort with friendly, helpful staff. Food/Bushwackers (local frozen delight) at their restaurants were delicious. We had a delicious dinner at the Sunset Grill, lunch and snacks at the Beach Bar, and the best snorkeling experience ever, we’ll be back soon!

I will admit that the "welcome" we got wasn't that friendly, but after that, we had a great time! The rooms were clean and ready for us. Our view from the balcony on the 3rd floor was amazing! It seemed that our room had recently been remodeled. We had rainbows about every morning to welcome us to the new day. The beach was clean and inviting to us. We enjoyed the mother chickens and babies running about. The snorkling was good. The dive shop was ok and willing to help with what we needed. The restaurant was good. The morning and afternoon staff was awesome! The fine dinning there was great! It was a peaceful beach even when the cruise ships came in. They give the chairs and umbrellas to the people staying there. The cruise ship people had to rent their chairs. Meet some people that were fun and interesting and made the days enjoyable. We weren't that far from Red Hook, maybe 5 minutes so we went there for evenings and to get on the ferry to St John's. Over all I would recommend Secret Harbour Beach Resort to coupes and families.

First and foremost this was a beautiful place to stay. The food was fantastic, the service was top notch in the restaurants and at the bar. Special shout out to Maddy and Mike!! The room was just perfect too. I want to make special mention of the care that this management has for their guests. When I returned home to Canada, I realized that I had left something very valuable behind on top of the safe. I called the front desk when I returned and Carmen very quickly began the process of trying to return it to me. I truly didn’t even think that this would be an option. Over the course of the next 4 months ( with Carmen keeping me updated by email), the item finally made it back to me safe and sound. And oh yes, another shout out to Fed Ex for stepping up on this one too. Overall, the experience at Secret Habour was amazing and this added care and support post trip was especially special. So thank you again Secret Harbour…we will be back💕.

We had wonderful stay at your resort. This was our 3rd time to come to St. Thomas to escape from freezing cold NY and it is this the best accommodation.
The crystal clear beach was 10 feet away from our lanai!
All your staff are very friendly and kind, especially our house keeping staff, Marglee who told me where my Tiffany neckless (missing for overnight) was. She was so helpful and professional.
We will come back soon with our kids and grandkids !
Thank you again.

Also had drinks at the bar (no complaints). Bottom line we really enjoyed our stat and plan to return.

This place is a gem. Great beach, good snorkeling right from shore, and not overrun by cruise ship passengers. The food is decent (breakfast is kinda spendy, we bought stuff to eat breakfast in our room most days) and the bar drink are good. We stayed in the beach front rooms, most of these are not more than a few steps from the beach. We had a studio with fridge and kitchenette. The room was nice; well-maintained, and very functional - we are beach people so honestly we just sleep, shower and change in our room. The location is great, close to Red Hook and lots of restaurants. I think this is now "home" on St. Thomas - we probably won't stay anywhere else.

We’ve been coming to Secret Harbour for over 20 years now, usually twice a year, January and July. Used to stay in the hillside units years ago for their stunning long views but we migrated to beachfront as we got older. The views from the beachfront are breathtaking too and accompanied by the soothing sound of gentle waves. Oh miss it already! We love the full kitchens and the VIP provisioning service that has our groceries there when we arrive. Love eating at The Patio beachfront restaurant too! Nothing like that first night dinner at the beach watching another stunning sunset! While you can rent a car, we never have. Taxis are plentiful and driving is on the opposite side of the road on hilly winding roads. We rather leave the driving alone and just enjoy the ride. We don’t find the need to leave the resort much; all we need is right there! I enjoy stopping to greet and thank the people who work there making this place so special! The beach has lots of shade and sun, easy swimming and snorkeling access too. Since coming here it’s hard to go any where else since when we do we always end up saying “We could’ve gone to Secret Harbour!”

Great little beach with amazing snorkeling.
Great little beach. Snorkeling was awesome, gear for rent. Great beach bar and restaurant. Chairs and umbrella’s available for rent but we just took towels. It’s on a resort and is relatively small, minimal parking by very relaxing and enjoyable.
The resort was expensive. The beach was rocky and flea infested. The restaurants were over priced, food was over cooked, over salted and the service so-so. Taxi was $16 to go 1 mile to town. Don’t forget $16 to get back.
The scenery was fantastic.
This is THE place to stay in St. Thomas

Of many resort choices, make this your choice! Secret Harbor Beach Resort is tucked away yet close to shopping, restaurants and ferry services in Red Hook. The resort consists of privately owned units, some more updated than others. However, all overlook the sandy beach (very clean) and crystal clear water of the bay. After some exploring, we decided all we needed was at the resort. Friendly staff, good food, good bar, great snorkeling right from the beach.

Similar to other beaches on island. We saw lobster, Lion fish, sea Conch while snorkling. Amenities close by and popular but not crowded on our visit. Dive shop on location with friendly teller. Limited parking. Still water, little current, easy water entry.
Amenities in short supply and service very slow. Ask for coffee filters at 7:30,got them at 10:15. No room service. Room at top hill. Long walk to get dinner. We certainly would not stay here again. Room was clean and neat, but certainly dated.

The patio bar is well staffed. Samuel, Mike and Brad have been great. They are a vast wealth of information about tourists sites and locations. We have been well taken care of. Can’t wait to plan another trip here.

Just finished our 3rd trip to Secret Harbour, 8 days of bliss. We love it here. Great beach with no waves, crystal clear water, and quite warm this time of year. There didn’t seem to be a lot of people here, which was nice. Zero concerns on getting beach chairs/umbrella.
We were in unit 214, a beachfront 1 bedroom unit. It was nicely appointed, we would love to get this unit on a future visit. The food is very good at the patio, but we wish the menu of choices was a bit larger. We had dinner here 3 times in 8 days. The staff we dealt with were pleasant and friendly.
We ordered groceries through the link on Secret Harbour website per usual, that has always worked out well for us.
The people who snorkeled said it was great, they saw turtles and an occasional octopus as well. We saw a sting Ray and barracuda a few times while in the water.
The island is hilly, a lots of twist and turns while driving on the left side of the road. We just take a taxi. $16 each way to red hook for two. Front desk will call for a taxi for you, the wait this time of year was less than10 minutes every time. $50 for 2 with luggage to/from airport.
A tip: our 1st morning, I went with our towel cards to get towels. I got a bit of stink eye from towel guy. Forgot about a tip, dummy me. I then went to open the umbrella for the chairs I picked. No pin on chain to hold umbrella up. Same thing at 2nd umbrella. Same at 3rd. Then the guy showed up with a pin to hold umbrella up. So, protocol is bring two bucks with you to towel stand and ask for an umbrella pin.😊

Stayed at this hotel for a friends wedding on the property. The wedding was beautiful but I had mixed feelings about our stay, mostly because they are presenting & charging prices like a high end private resort without providing any high end private amenities.
Food:
We LOVED the food! My husband is a chef so we have moderate expectations for 'resort' type food but everything was really good. Cuban sandwich, ahi tuna nachos, wings, coconut shrimp & burger were our favs. Bartenders were great too, strong & delicious drinks.
There are no dining amenities like room service or beach servers, you also can't call the restaurants ahead and order to go. I feel like these are things they could easily offer that would help justify the prices. Food is priced for a resort - around $15-20 for apps & $30-60 for entrees. They do offer a grocery service, but we were only there for 4 days, if we were staying longer we probably would have used that. By the time we bought food & drinks, we figured out it was about $900 a day to stay here. Again, just not worth the price.
Beach:
The harbor is spectacular! Perfect temp, amazing for floating around or snorkeling. We def saw some cool fish, small stingrays & even a baracuda, but I was never worried about wildlife while swimming. The hotel provided a decent amount of chairs but its a public beach so as expected you have to go down early on weekends to get a spot. Overall it wasn't too crowded though & the vibe of the beach goers was really good. Chairs & beach stuff is older though & could use an update. Same with the pool.
The fact is, Secret Harbor is a public beach and you can have the experience we got without staying at the resort. They offer no additional services for guests except towels - you can use the beach chairs & eat at the restaurants without paying the high price of this place.
Room:
I think our room really effected the experience for me. I travel a lot and I just cannot justify what we paid. We spent $650 a night for a one bedroom beach front kitchenette room. The views were great but honestly that was the only thing worth paying for. Our room was outdated & badly in need of a refresh. Squeaky fans, bad shower, small bad tvs, old appliances & furniture, walls are very thin. They do mention that every condo is privately owned so will vary but I went to some other rooms & they were so much nicer - there should definitely be some kind of baseline for the owners to keep updated if you're charging the same for all rooms.
Service:
Good overall, most of the staff was extremely nice. Beware of the taxis - def negotiate price before your ride, not the hotels fault but we did get overcharged on our way from the airport.
Overall, I can see the draw of the location if you actually owned one of the condos there but sadly I wouldn't recommend as a vacation stay unless they updated the resort & started offering some more amenities for guests.

However, we booked an anniversary trip months in advance, requesting and confirming a one bedroom BEACHFRONT condo and were given a two-bedroom hillside one instead, despite our complaints on checking in. We did not need the extra bedroom, and the hillside was a definite inconvenience. I was encouraged to contact management upon leaving and they stopped responding to my inquiries. Sadly, we will not return.

We had a wonderful 2 week stay here in a beachfront 1 bedroom suite. The place is kept very clean and our maid service was extremely friendly. All of the facilities were in good order, we ate dinner at the on-site restaurants most evenings and the service, setting and food was all very good. We had to reschedule our time due to a medical issue and the staff, especially Josephine in the office were very helpful in getting us taken care of easily.
Having a full kitchen enabled us to prepare our own breakfast each morning as late sleepers. We had a rental car and explored several other beaches around the island with an eye toward snorkeling. In our opinion, the ease of using our own beach outweighed any benefit of traveling the island, although Brewers Beach near the airport had several turtles and rays which was fun. We saw lots of fish, coral and a few turtles and rays at Secret Harbor too! We are looking forward to an opportunity to return in the future.
