My husband and I spent one week at Zadun in mid February and at the risk of sounding like a horrible person, I very rarely am 100% delighted with service the way we were on this trip. Especially when paying a premium, I realize our expectations were high, yet Zadun not only met them but exceeded them. Pros The setting - our room was set high on the back of the property (room 631 I think?) and it afforded us amazing views of the sea. The entire property is beautifully maintained with native plantings. The buildings are simple with natural materials, and they didn’t obstruct our view. It was great for whale watching. The room - we loved the room we had, we had a nice warm plunge pool on our patio with chaise lounge chairs, a table for eating, and two doors (one sliding, one not) into our room. there is a heavy metal door between the patio and the main walkway so we felt very private. The room was large with huge glass doors facing the sea and the patio, a very comfortable bed, a nice big bathroom with shower and tub, and enclosed toilet area by the closet. It was private and we never heard other guests (with one exception of a kiddo). Thoughtful touches - I could go on and on about the thoughtful details we enjoyed, from binoculars in our room to sun hats, a beach bag, and high quality body lotion in a full size bottle. Loved all of them! Dining - The food, like many resorts, is essentially the same from restaurant to restaurant. We usually ordered coffee to our room, had lunch by the pool (get the shrimp tacos grilled), and dinner at either Barrio or Humo. Room service was fantastic although a couple times it took extra long. If you stayed for a few weeks you might tire of the same restaurants but the food was really great and fresh. Peace and quiet - The resort doesn’t have a ton of guests and even at full capacity it was mostly quiet. Midway through our stay a family arrived with a little boy who screamed a lot. A LOT. I suspect other guests complained as after the first night of unrelenting toddler tantrums on their outside patio which reverberated across the resort, he was much quieter (or inside). I understand kids are noisy but the peacefulness was something we cherished and I was grateful it didn’t continue. There is construction nearby by it wasn’t disruptive. We never heard people blasting music or talking on cell phones in public areas. It truly allowed us to relax very deeply. Family atmosphere - This place is not for partiers. Guests were a mix of families and couples. The gym is hopping at 6 am! The kids we saw were all beautifully behaved at meals (we were impressed!). Adults covered up in the restaurants so we didn’t see wet bathing suits or barely-there suits at lunchtime. Overall, guests seemed very respectful of each other and tastefully attired. Great spa - I had one of the best massages of my life here! thank you Bris. The little shop at the spa has nice stuff too. Environmental - I don’t think I saw a single piece of trash or plastic on the entire property. Even the razors had wooden handles. Water in the rooms came in tetrapak cartons. I loved that we didn’t fill our garbage each day with plastic water bottles! Walkable - we found ourselves enjoying walking to our room (although golf carts are available). Every day we walked from the property for about an hour around the area. The beach is not very walkable (it’s steep) so we enjoyed the paved trails instead. The entire area felt safe and clean. Service - this is where this resort went far, far above and beyond. We have stayed at Ritz Carlton hotels before but Zadun somehow managed to be professional yet warm, attentive yet not too intrusive, kind and caring while seeming to be authentic. Whatever management is doing to train and retain their staff, keep doing it. Our butler was Guillermo and he was simply wonderful. All week we just texted him when we needed something like a reservation for dinner and he took care of it. On his day off he had a backup who then stepped in and took care of us (Diego). I wanted to hug him goodbye when he gave us a parting gift of a beautiful beaded whale. Pool seating - you know how some resorts have those guests who leave their towels at 6 am on the most desirable chairs but never show up? We came down one morning to ask about chairs and were told they would hold our chairs for one hour, no more. I LOVE THIS. It was always easy to get a great spot no matter what time we arrived, and the pools are well staffed too. Pools are clean and there are separate adults vs kids pools. English/Spanish - Language was never a barrier. We speak a little spanish but mostly English and they were easy to communicate with. We were consistently greeted by everyone in our path with “Buenas dias” including the gardeners and housekeepers. Transport - a few nights we wanted to get off site and hired the resort’s driver to take us. They have a great team with clean Escalades that were perfect. I think they were $80 so more than an Uber but you can also call an Uber if you prefer. Way above & beyond - Let me add that we ate off site one night and the next day were both violently ill; Guillermo checked on us and sent electrolyte water and chicken soup to our room (without being asked). There were no goofy tequila jokes or awkwardness when I couldn’t get out of bed. They even sent up plain rice for my husband when he asked for it. If you’re going to be that sick, it was nice to be in a great bed with a good view. Cons The only hiccup was our first night at Humo was weird. There was a large noisy/drunk table of young people dominating the server’s attention and he was rattled. After ordering I realized they were going to ruin our night so we just asked them to send our food to the room, which they did quickly. We ate our piping hot meal on our beautiful patio and looked at the stars! When we went back another night they remembered we’d had a less than ideal experience even though we never complained, and apologized and took very good care of us. (ps get the Totoaba, it’s a local fish). If you want to sit at the beach get there early as beach seats are in high demand.

The facility is great. Location very nice as well. The pool had good service. Great beach area. Should have been a 5 star review like my dinner restaurant at the hotel was. But asked for turn down to come and make out the bed that didn’t happen. Was told we would be picked up from are room at 1050 that didn’t happen. Also please know the only breakfast on site is an all outdoor seating. This morning was 55 degrees.

We have been coming here annually since it first opened in 2021 and five years later, it is just getting started. Awarded the Forbes 5-star ranking two years in a row is a statement in itself and most likely earned because of the level of staff working here. Many have been here since the opening and the managers look after their guests as do the butlers (yes, they have a special name for them, but they take care of all your needs). Humo is their star restaurant and continues to impress with both the menu and food quality. El Barrio is one of the best overall breakfast restaurants we have experienced at any resort. They are open for lunch and two themed dinners during the week. The good news is if you are reading this, one of the themed dinners is moving from Thursday to Sunday and will focus on Tacos & Tequila, I can't wait to come back for this. Equis is their third restaurant located just off the beach. They updated it this year to include tables on the beach, great touch and now they plan on having a TIKI bar on the beach as well. Open for lunch and dinner, I am hoping the dinner menu gets updated for a more relaxed seafood and Mediterranean experience. We stay in a two-bedroom villa even though we only use one bedroom because we like the location so much. Rooms are filled with plenty of amenities although I wish the snacks and soft drinks were complimentary especially based on the room rates and daily service charge. There are kids and babies here. Luckily, they have an adult pool close to the beach and a kid's center. They also have one of the most amazing spas which is adult-only and I love their lap pool by the fitness center. Overall, there are no shortage of 5-star resorts in Cabo plus there are new ones opening in the future. However, Zadun is very special with close proximity to the beach, plenty of green grass instead of concrete and easy access to all restaurants and facilities (no golf cart required). Enjoy!

We returned in December for our third stay as a couple at Zadun. Our experiences have been consistently strong. This remains an immaculately maintained private and serene luxury boutique property with standout staff. As discussed in other reviews, even the most basic King room are impressive and include plunge pools and expansive outdoor areas, particularly the ground level rooms. We have stayed in oceanfront, suite, and standard accommodations. All were excellent with a personal favorite being oceanfront. Special thanks to Fernanda at Candil with whom it is always a treat to create custom cocktails, and to Gabriel at Humo who has repeatedly and warmly welcomed us. Zadun remains an ideal Cabo option for those seeking a peaceful respite. We look forward to retuning.

We absolutely love Zadun and it has become our go-to hotel in the Cabo area. Everything about it is stunning and the attentiveness of the staff makes it a step above other luxury hotels. The rooms are all stunning -- we have stayed in a ground floor king twice before and this last trip we were upgraded to an upper-floor suite. Both types of rooms provide ample space for guests, and the bathroom features are wonderful, whether it be the large tub for two or the outdoor showers (only available on ground level rooms). The plunge pools are a great feature, although slightly too chilly for my liking (I wish there was the ability to adjust the temperature ever so slightly, but I understand why this isn't feasible). The beds are super comfy and the rooms provide complete darkness. We would spend every day at the main pool area on the upper level, and the attendants were always checking on us to see if we needed anything or adjusting our umbrella to give us more shade. They are so friendly and accommodating, and we looked forward to seeing them daily. We also appreciate that they bring a cooler right away with waters and suntan lotion, as well as a button to call for service if you want to order anything. We love El Barrio and Equis for meals -- the quality of their food is top notch and the service is impeccable. If you go to El Barrio, ask to sit in Angel's section -- one of the nicest restaurant waiters who even remembered us from past visits and brought us a couple special treats. Equis is not to be missed if you're at the hotel for one of their fish market nights (typically Tuesdays and Saturdays). The Cantina night at El Barrio is also not to be missed, although they aren't always very clear on how ordering works (it's a four course menu from which you would in theory choose one item per course, but people seem to mix and match). The gym is outstanding -- fantastic equipment, amazing lap pool, and a lot of space for yoga and other classes they offer. They also provide cold water and towels, and sometimes fruit/cookies/power bars. It's open 24/7 so you never have to worry about getting in. My only con about the place? For how much they charge per night, there are very few "complimentary" services/refreshments available. We've stayed at other Cabo luxury hotels and they frequently provide free minibar (non-alcoholic beverages and sodas) or deliver fresh chips and guacamole to your room daily, or they include breakfast in the stay. At Zadun absolutely nothing is free, and you will pay a premium for anything you request. Likewise, their mixed drinks at the pool and restaurants are pretty weak for the prices they charge -- I ordered two mixed drinks and literally could not even taste a drop of alcohol in them. So if you're going to order alcohol, go for a mimosa, beer, or wine where you actually get alcohol. Or do what we do and stock up at duty-free and have alcohol in your room. This is a wonderful hotel if you really just want some R&R -- we never leave the property when we visit, so I can't comment on other attractions to visit. But if you're looking for relaxing pools, a private beach to walk on, and some amazing food, this is the place for you.

From the moment you drive onto the property and take in the grounds and breathtaking view, you know you are in a special place at Zadun. We stayed in the beachfront Cortes suite for five nights and it was nothing short of spectacular. The property itself is extremely lush, secluded and away from it all. It is the definition of quiet luxury. Our two butlers, Rodrigo and Mario, were outstanding. All we had to do was send them a message and they were there with anything we could ask for. They even added special touches onto experiences we never even dreamed of. All of the restaurants were lovely. We ate at Barrio each morning and were greeted by Emili with her bright smile and warm attitude. If we were not lying on our private patio, we would be at the adult pool being attended to by Jarolt. We truly were greeted warmly by every single member of the staff and that says so much. It was the perfect getaway for my husband and I to celebrate a special occasion. We felt relaxed and pampered and were very grateful for the experience.

We have stayed at other Ritz Carltons, but this was our first at a Reserve. The resort is immaculately landscaped with beautiful flowers and gardens. The room was spotless and well maintained. We had a large tastefully decorated bedroom with floor to ceiling views of the water (upper level suite) a large closet and dressing area, and huge bathroom with shower, tub, two sinks and another separate extremely large vanity. The room had a minibar with plenty of bottled water, coffee, tea and a small fridge with drinks and snacks for purchase. Our room also came with a private plunge pool and large patio with lots of spacious loungers and table and chairs. (There were some small shades for the loungers, but we would have actually preferred more shade due to the intense sun.) The outside area was private due to well placed walls etc. It actually felt like you were staying in your own private condo overlooking the ocean. The resort has a fitness center with lap pool, family pools and an adults only pool and beach access with attentive staff. The beach was closed for walking while we were there due to a recent storm that passed through a few days before our arrival, and never reopened during our stay. The resort itself showed no evidence of a storm however, with not even a branch or flower out of place. The resort has a beachfront seafood restaurant (closed during our visit), a nice grill restaurant, a lovely open air family style casual restaurant, a coffee bar with desserts, muffins, scones etc, and a beautiful cocktail bar. We ordered room service and the food was delivered promptly by the most delightful staff, and our orders were always perfect, no matter our special requests (not the norm when dining in the states). We visited the spa for a couples massage which was wonderful. We also had an hour in the private spa pool before the massages, and an hour in a private hot tub after the massages. We also scheduled the Savasana Experience (sound room treatment) at the spa, and found it not relaxing for us in the way it was designed (just our opinions). I have seen reviews mentioning that the resort was hilly, but we didn't notice this at all. We normally visit Mexico in the winter, and did find the September temps a little high for us, but did feel lucky that we had sunny days during our entire visit. We have stayed at Los Cabos before and did prefer the quiet more relaxed nature of San Jose del Cabo and Zadun. We never heard other people or noise from any other resorts. The biggest thing that we noticed about this resort however, was how we were treated by staff. We have stayed at many wonderful resorts, but noticed that the Zadun staff really could not have been better. From the drivers, housekeepers, room service and spa staff, restaurant staff and every single staff we ran into during our stay, they were just the friendliest and most helpful and attentive. They really tried to go out of their way to make sure that you had everything that you wanted at any time and to just spoil you.

We chose zadun for a romantic getaway. Our first day was ok, other than a delay in our room being ready. Don’t know why since hotel was almost empty. 20 percent occupied we found out from pool staff. Not the best. Not the worst day until we woke up at 4am with a live roach next to our bed. Called front desk and our butler. They refused to change our room. Which would have been the right thing to do. They didn’t do anything other than housekeeping cleaning the room that day. Font desk dismissed this completely. Following day more roaches appeared. Again. Not once did we see our butler to assist or front desk offer to change our room. Asked to speak to manager on duty and he refused to offer a solution. Said maybe we had left door open and that they can’t help it’s warm weather. So now we are to blame it seems for our roach infested room. Not ritz level of service or from any hotel. This is rude and ridiculous We left early. Upon checkout tried to talk to manager in duty again. Dismissed us. Would not recommend this hotel. The bad reviews online are true. They didn’t value us….. just blamed the issues of our plagued room on us! Unacceptable!

We selected this property based on its 5-star rating and the availability of rooms that have a private pool. We visited in September so it was wonderfully quiet and serene (albeit very hot). Additionally when visiting the Los Cabos area, we prefer the low key vibe of San Jose del Cabo to the rather touristy, party vibe of Cabo San Lucas. Do your research before choosing which area suits you. PROS: -Magical setting overlooking the Sea of Cortez which you can hear from your private patio (note: property is hilly, which could be problematic for some). -Suite was beautifully appointed with generous seating area, dressing room space, divine bed, separate toilet room, lovely tub and storage areas. Top notch. -Extra touches were notable: sun hats, epsom salts, multiple carry bags to use around the property, nespresso machine. -Private pool nicely maintained (note: these pools are plunge pools, comparable in size to a jacuzzi. Top levels of property afford total privacy, while one can look down onto lower positioned suites.) -Housekeeping/turn down were beyond prompt at the times we selected upon arrival. Amazing. -Plenty of drinking water provided -Solid on-site restaurant for breakfast (a la carte). CONS: -We were not told how to secure golf cart transport around the very hilly property. This did not impact us because we prefer to walk but unclear how it worked. -Lack of information about the resort in the room— restaurants/bar offerings and hours, spa info, securing beach loungers etc. Info is quickly shared upon checkin but would have been nice to have printed material or on television screen. We might have taken advantage of more had we not had to keep calling reception. -Butler service is a nice idea but poorly executed because you aren’t quite sure what they offer you. Often felt like a person messaging for no clear reason. -Tipping culture detracts somewhat from the upscale atmosphere. I imagine the added 15% gratuity charge is meant to preclude this but unfortunately it doesn’t. Zadun is a spectacular property, about which I had very few complaints. I would absolutely visit again and highly recommend.

Overall, this is an amazing property with arguably the best and most personal level of service I've experienced at any 5+ star hotel/resort. Room and overall property were beautiful and extremely well maintained. We had an amazing couples spa service. Food was very good (my opinion is that I would not pick or return for the food...it was good but given the quality of the overall resort and corresponding price, I wasn't so much disappointed as I was underwhelmed). Other reviews mentioned the costs/prices, and I will admit it is very expensive. But this is a Ritz Carlton in Cabo...don't book this property if it doesn't fit your budget. I will finish as I started: the staff and the service are some of (if not the) best I've experienced anywhere.

We went to Zadun to celebrate a milestone birthday and our anniversary and let me just say that I probably read every review out there before we left and I was still just blown away by the service, the beauty of the entire resort, the food, and wonderful staff that absolutely spoiled us!!! We were upgraded to a suite and it was stunning. The asthetic of this resort is so beautiful and we loved the Mexican art, archeticture, and simple yet elegant design of our room. The indoor and outdoor shower, beautiful bathroom, outstanding closet, and the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in at a hotel were wonderful. The service we recieved during our stay was hands down the best service we have recieved at any hotel we have stayed at over the years. They think of everything from the chilled waters and suncreen at the pool to the little surprises left in your room. Our tosani (butler) Luis was outstanding and was always checking in with us. He made sure that the twice room service was done when we were away from the room and was there anytime we needed him. The food at the resort was outstanding! We had breakfast included in our rate and it was an OUTSTANDING array of choices and dishes. So much so that we didn't really need lunch. We ate at Barrio, Equis, and Humo and they were all outstanding. There were so many good choices at each restaurant we wanted to go back and try other dishes. The staff are a real stand out at the resort. We had wonderful service and they are eager to share about the resort or surrounding area. Kudos to the management here to have such a dedicated outstanding staff! They are the real shinnng stars here. We did go off property for dinner a few nights to enjoy the surrounding wonderful establishments and the town of San Jose...but we were also thrilled to come back to such an incredibly beautiful resort. It is a Ritz Carlton so prices are in check with that brand but we felt the prices were justified. The last thing my husband said as we left...."'When can we come back?" Do not hesitate to book and enjoy this gorgeous resort! CSBM

My partner and I stayed at the Zadun for a week and we can’t tell you enough how beautiful this property is. You also have so much space and privacy in this hotel, as opposed to other luxury properties in Cabo. We had meals in all restaurants and they were all exceptional. Although, I thought Humo would be my favourite and that restaurant has my lowest rating in comparison to the other restaurants in the property. I wasn’t “wowed” by their food given the price tag. The staff are so friendly and attentive. Only one observation that I make is that the staff at the spa is over attentive, at points I felt I was being followed and made me feel uncomfortable so my advice here is to also give some space to guests. Rooms and property are sparkling clean. We were lucky enough to stay in two different rooms categories and both room were immaculate. I will certainly be back!

We arrived to the hotel with high expectations, and we were absolutely blown away by our three-night stay at Zadun. From the moment we arrived, the attentive staff made us feel welcomed. We were greeted by name and with smiling faces everywhere we went. Upon arrival, we were whisked to our room—an Ocean View King with plunge pool and terrace. I must say—this is the absolute best room we’ve ever stayed in. The outdoor area was the highlight with 2 sun loungers and a larger loveseat (perfect for a couple) and the plunge pool was spacious and heated. We enjoyed breakfast at Barrio each morning as well as lunch at Barrio, Equis, and on our final day, enjoyed in-room dining. We also enjoyed mocktails at Candil one evening and were happy that they were very accommodating of us as non-drinkers. Prices were certainly not inexpensive, but not too dissimilar to what you might see in LA, New York, or London. Service was impeccable throughout from every member of the staff we interacted with, but I wanted to point out a couple of individuals that made our trip particularly special—our “Tosoanis” butlers Moises and Guillermo. They were almost immediately responsive and helpful anytime we had a request, and there were a couple ridiculously thoughtful touches that made this stay especially memorable, including returning from dinner one evening to a candle-lit bath with rose petals lining the tub. As Titanium Elite guests who stay at quite a few resorts around the world each year, Zadun has set a new standard for us. For now, we will dream of a return visit.

Overall a great five days at Zadún! I cannot see how anyone can be critical of this property. Yes, the food and drinks are over the top expensive and should be something you expect walking on the property. Otherwise the food was top quality, the grounds meticulously maintained, pools varied and spread out throughout the property. Service was exceptional throughout every aspect of the resort. Our tosoani (butler) Josue was a difference maker and made every reservation, car service, etc easy and seamless. We were celebrating our anniversary and he added extra surprises along the way to make our stay unforgettable. Also Juan the manager was personally involved with making our stay special. And a shoutout to Donaldo who met me every morning at 6:00AM for coffee and served us our breakfast. Last, the resort itself is a destination.
