The villas are spacious & well appointed. The beach is nice for snorkeling & soaking up the sun. Great addition of the beach bar service & tables on the dock. With the Westin now open access to their amenities is a plus. Love the spa!
The ferry shuttle to town is a great convenience as town traffic can be heavy.
Navigating around the cruise boats is easy; those heavy days I hang out on the beach.
Always love seeing many of the same staff each year. Marvin makes my beach days a delight… I love him! He makes sure the beach looks great each morning!

We arrived at 11 am (knowing the room would not be ready) and were checked in quickly. Soon, we were assigned a 2-bedroom unit in the St. John building, looking out to the roof of the lower building, with no ocean view.
We brought up the issue within minutes after we entered the assigned unit. MVC offered to change rooms during our stay if rooms with a view were available and we pay an additional $120 cleaning fee. They said once you set foot in a room and then change rooms, the room needs to be cleaned. This means one would have to first pay MVC a $120 cleaning fee before complaining about an MVC-assigned unit, which may necessitate a change of rooms. However, how can anyone know if there are issues with a room without setting foot in a room?
We also inquired about the assignment of rooms again during our stay. We were informed it was because we had not made a specific request in the “comment” section, wherever that is, for an ocean view when making the reservation.
We have been MVC owners since 1994, and it has been our experience that MVC would give the best room available at check-in. Now, it seems that MVC has changed. When you book “Ocean Front” and do not ask for a high floor or room with a view, you get a lower floor room with no view by default. This change is particularly disappointing for any beach MVC property - who would ever prefer a no-view unit at a beach property? It would be interesting to see the rationale for this business practice.
Sadly, we will not assume good service or goodwill anymore.
That said, the rooms here were spacious, clean, and well-maintained. We did not see roaches as complained in other reviews. The 3-elevator trip to the pool was less of an issue for us. We ate three times at the eatery by the pool, and the food was decent. While the service was slow, the servers were friendly. We did not use the balconies (though oceanfront) since they offered no ocean views.

This resort is first class. The 2BR suite was like new.It was well stocked and equipped, and it had a beautiful view. The pool and beach were nice and the one restaurant served good food. The exercise room was well equipped and modern. There were daily activities(we didn’t participate)that seemed fun.The staff was terrific. We weren’t bothered by the need to take 2 elevators to reach the pool/beach/restaurant.We were on the fifth floor of the Jost Van Dyke building which is building 1 so our suite number was 154 due to being in suite 4.I am not an owner;I swapped in through Interval International. The St John building(I was not assigned to)is higher on the hill thus the need for a 3rd elevator ride but I wouldn’t have minded. The restaurant is expensive like everything else on the island but not as high as I expected. As an example an omelette with potatoes and toast was 19$ and tea or coffee was 6$ extra. As mentioned in many reviews above IMO the weakness of the resort is the necessity to take cabs. That starts with a call to the front desk to send a cart to take you to the lobby building.(It was quick service)I always tipped5$.Cabs were waiting there. The fare to go downtown was 9$ each and to red hook $15 each plus tip so the cost adds up.I recommend getting groceries at Moes.I didn’t set up the delivery service but we went to St John the first day and bought groceries at the Moes in Red Hook on the way back.We also stopped at the closer Moes at Yacht Haven after a downtown lunch. Our favorite lunch was at the Stone House Cafe.It was a good trip.

Though I am staying at the Buoy Haus next door, I was able to get help and advice from the amazing Ta’lore (pronounced Taylor, I kept messing it up) and Lubon (sp?). First Lubon gave me a referral to Brewer’s Bay where I brought my own snorkel gear and was able to see sting ray and sea turtles in their natural habitats. Next, manager Andrew was kind enough to bring my ring float over to Ta’lore at the Marriott to get it inflated for me. Thanks again, Andrew and Ta’Lore. You all saved the day!!

Just returned home from a wonder vacation in St. Thomas. This was our first time visiting “The cove”. The hotel is wonderful with beautiful views. Staff was always friendly. The pool had just reopened after being refurbished and is perfect. Loved that the majority of the property was smoke free ( a few random smoking areas). Has a small beach, but perfect for the location. Hotel restaurant was good, but nothing special. As to be expected, their Marketplace was expensive.
My only real complaint had nothing to do with the hotel itself, just the location. Unless you take the shuttle to a different hotel there is nothing close by. If you didn’t rent a car you have to take an expensive taxi ride to get to other shops, restaurants and such.
