We recently stayed at Icaco Hotel for four nights in February 2024, and it was truly a little piece of paradise. The warmth of the staff, including Victoria, Adaara, and Martha, added a special touch to the experience. The rooms were well-equipped and boasted stunning ocean views from the King Room, along with a delightful rooftop area.
One highlight was the refreshing and healthy cold breakfast served each morning, setting the perfect tone for the day ahead. While the property is a bit of a stroll, approximately 20 minutes from the main center, this distance proved to be a blessing, offering respite from the crowds and day trippers. However, it's worth noting that this distance may be a deal-breaker for some.
Being situated on the main road, there was some noise, but it was a minor inconvenience compared to the overall magic of the place.
Overall, Icaco Hotel offers a tranquil retreat with exceptional service, making it a highly recommended destination for those seeking a serene getaway.

Icaco is not worthy of the name hotel, you get a room which is in the middle of 2 busy roads. Upon arrival there is a gravel road as a driveway, you have to carry your suitcases as you cannot roll them. We booked a Deluxe Double Room with Balcony and Sea View, in reality we got a Single Room with balcony and road view. The room is described as whole unit on first floor, however, it is divided into ground floor (sitting area) and second floor (bathroom and bedroom). The pictures all look beautiful, but in reality you get something else. So the rooftop pool was a postage stamp size overlooking the road and no place to stay in the shade on the terrace.
The room is described as Deluxe double room, however we got a bed 1m14 wide. How can you even offer this as a double room? We kindly asked if we could get another room. There were no rooms available so we asked to cancel. At the reception they could not help us with this and we were referred to contact the manager via Whatsapp. That response was anything but customer friendly. They admitted it was a small bed, but canceling was not possible.
The shower looks fine at first glance, there is an ornate shell, however this makes showering impossible. Water drips out randomly so that it takes hours to completely shower.
The security also left much to be desired, the door cannot be locked properly, there is no one at the reception between 9pm and 9:30am.
Breakfast comes somewhere between 8 and 9:30 am. You cannot specify in advance what time you want your breakfast. When we got to the room in the afternoon, breakfast was still there full of ants!
Finally, the location: if you want to get to civilization it is at least a 30-minute walk. You can rent a golf cart, take a cab,... The hotel is on a very busy road so through traffic can be heard until 2/3am.
In short, the room is not worth its money, no reception, not customer friendly, pictures give a different picture than reality, small bed, bad shower, and so on.......

Icaco is not the most luxurious hotel but it is really nice. It is very small and super calm. You get a nice view from the roof top pool and the beach is steps away. It is not a hotel on the beach, there's a street that separates the hotel from the beach. I like that around 8 am they take to your room some fruit, juice and bread. Staff was extremely helpful but the reception closes at 10 PM.

I am sorry to say we were very disappointed with our stay. The pictures showed a room set up which was very different, as we were on the split level floor which was extremely small. There was no shower water (only drips), it was quite far on a main road which then backed onto the sea (ie. your sea view is a road first) and management pictures showed the more premium larger rooms only for the booking we made. The bed was not king size as advertised, it was actually a large single bed and we will not be visiting again as it was expensive for what it is.
It was the most expensive hotel of our 2 week trip across Mexico, and by far the worst. I only felt clean once I reached Tulum and had a proper shower with actual water flow.
I would recommend staying near Playa Norte as those hotels were similar priced, but with the associated facilities, location and beach view.

We had a lovely stay! Recommend the bigger rooms on one level as opposed to the smaller one with two levels, as we stayed in both. Both are great but the bigger room is the most incredible and also has a balcony with seating and a hammock. Beautifully decorated and clean with an ocean view. The staff are so sweet, lovely and helpful. Highly recommended.

This is a beautiful place to stay! Fantastic service, clean and comfortable. Nice modern decor and great rooftop deck and small pool. (Rooftop is best in the evenings. This isn’t an island to waste your time at a pool, the beach is where you want to be!!)The complimentary breakfast brought to your room was also fantastic. The hotel is located mid island, so be sure to rent a golf cart so you can make the easy, short drive to North Beach, Restaurants and shopping on Hildago Street or around the island to tour and have fun. (BTW you should plan on having a golf cart anyway in Isla. You are completely missing out if you don’t drive around and see what the island has to offer) those that complained about the location obviously didn’t do their research and don’t know the island!!! We’ve been more times to Isla then we can count and enjoyed the location and would highly recommend!

Let’s start with the most obvious : the pictures of the view you see in Booking are misleading. The hotel is on a lousy street, and has no access to the beach. You will have to drive for 5-10 min to find the first beaches where you can swim.
We had the suite, which was well decorated. However, the shower was heavily leaking on the bathroom and the hot water would run for max 2 min. It has not been fixed for 4 days. In addition, there is a jacuzzi right on top of the room, that is very lousy.. If someone use it at 9 am, it will wake you up.
Moreover, the breakfast is very light, with no options (fruit + cake / toast + a juice). There is no room service or hotel kitchen, which was not convenient at all. If it rains during the night, you will have to go out anyway for diner. The WiFi didn’t work either, and we repeatedly reported the issue..in vain !
The general location of the hotel is good as it is in the middle of the island, 5 min from the center by motorcycle, but it has no beach around, where you can swim, eat and spend the day. You will then have to rent a golf car (65$/day) or a motorcycle to enjoy the island.
As a conclusion, the quality/price ratio is very low (280$ per night in mid August), and it’s been our only bad hotel experience in Mexico. I would definitely not recommend this place to anyone.

Amazing place to stay! My husband and I traveled without our kids. G, helped us out tremendously. As well as one of the owners. They arranged transportation for us from the airport and served breakfast every morning. Our casita was clean and modern. Had everything we needed. The pool area up top was never busy while we were there. We had the whole area to ourselves. It was quiet at night and easy to get around the island on our cart during the day. The whole staff of Icaco Village are so gracious and kind. Thanks again to Giovanni! Hope to visit this island again some day.

I was on Isla Mujeres for a romantic vacation and our stay couldnt have been better at the Icaco Island Resort.
What I personally liked a lot is the design.
The interior design gives the room such a nice vibe.
The rooftop pool was our favorite lace to hang out because the weather was hot during our stay on Isla Mujeres.
So don’t look further for a place to stay. ;)

We loved the location because it’s only a short walk or ride to the town center where the ferry docks and the location and the hotel offer a tranquile environment.
Our highlight is the rooftop area with the big sun beds and the refreshing pool.
We can definitely recommend staying there.
