Hotel is nice and lobby is spacious . Pool decent size and lots of chair but facing the pool limit to others excess . Nice garden and swans . Room decent , water available , bed pretty comfy . Resort fees $48 parking $40 on top of the rate. So be prepare . Food in the restaurant overpriced and service charge Beofre tips. Ridiculous.

Pros: The resort property is beautiful and well-kept. There are lots of places to explore. The onsite coffee shop was helpful. I loved grabbing coffee and sitting in the lobby chairs facing the ocean. Bliss. The animals on the property were fun to look at. They are well cared for. There seems to be an abundance of stray cats on Maui. We saw three on a regular basis that were fed by staff. The front desk staff was helpful and pleasant. Restaurant staff was friendly and on top of things. Housekeeping was very, very good. We received a free upgrade from a partial to a full ocean view. The rooms are designed with thought. The bathroom had double sinks. The drapes were blackout. There are dim lights that turn on automatically under the bed and in the bathroom to light your way there in the dark. The pools were heated and warm. Rooms had good soundproofing. They have a great system for getting and returning pool towels. Mattresses were very comfortable, probably the best I have had in a hotel. You have use of the vacation club pool next door, which had a neat layout and was a lot quieter. There’s also an adults-only pool there. With the main pool at the hotel property being rather deep, we found most kids gravitated towards the Napili pool. The hotel is located on the Shore Path. There are plenty of elevators, so we never had to wait long. There’s a luau onsite. The laundry room machines were newer and worked well. In regard to the reviewer who said the resort needs updating, the rooms were redone in 2021. How often do you expect them to remodel? Cons: I still gave the property five stars because the pros outweighed the cons. Probably the biggest con is self-parking for those who don’t want to splurge on valet and deal with more tipping. There are two lots you can use, but it is a haul to get from the lots to your room. Also, the self-parking lots fill in the evening if you go out for dinner and come back. They DID give us a night of complimentary valet when we had a late evening arrival and lots were full. The other con is pool seating. Cabanas are $$$. As with a lot of resorts, we found pool seating, especially in the shade, fills quickly. So you are out of luck if you have a conference or excursion in the morning. I have type 1 skin and have had skin cancer removed. Shade is super important. We tried to solve the problem by putting our own chairs in a shady spot on the lawn. After two hours, we got kicked out and told that lawns were for cabana use only. We had purchased a cabana one day, but it’s not financially doable to do that every day. The beach is narrow with no natural shade. The guest laundry is in a far corner of the Lanai building, making it a long walk with laundry bags from the other two buildings. Tip: If you are there for a conference, request a room in the Lanai building. The conference rooms are in this building. If you’re there with young children, request a room in the Napili building, which is closest to the kids’ pool.

Great Stay at a Great Place! We usually stay at the Sheraton Black Rock but opted to the side of the Grand Hyatt Hotel. They had a 45th Anniversary package and we jumped right on it. So glad we did! We were greeted by a very nice young woman, June. She told us about everything in our package and even had a special gift sent to our room since it was our own anniversary as well. So nice. The Open Aired Entry is so beautiful and the ALOHA sign made for a great photo opp. The room was a corner room with views of the mountains and a full-on view of the ocean. At night I rested on the lounge sofa next to the window and listened to the waves crashing!!! Ohhh I so miss this. The bed was the most comfortable bed I have stayed in at a resort. Yes! It truly was!!! The breakfasts were very nice at the buffet. Fred, our server was spot on! Always had our hot chocolate and coffee ready for us. I had that added to my package. Highly recommend. The Poolside grill was frequented. They have the best pretzel and cheese. Fish tacos, hamburgers, and flatbreads we all enjoyed. The hotel itself needs to be refreshed/remodeled BUT I must add that it was Cleaned through and through. I'm very picky too. The parking is not so good and the valet has a very "tight" area to work with. But we managed and all is good. There are only 3 washing machines and I believe 11 dryers for guest use. They could use some more dryers. The beach itself is very narrow due to erosion and had a pretty good drop off. Go out to the left about 1/4 mile and there is a large beach with a great snorkel area. The elevators are tricky to get from the main floor to the pool area if you are staying in the main tower. You trade off walking a longer distance vs going down the stairs. (In case you have troubles with stair walking) I would 100% stay here again if they offer another package like the 45th anniversary package. Noise was pretty loud on a Saturday night, but the other 6 nights it was very quiet. (We were above the floor (17th floor) of the Party area. The music was good.

The property is incredibly beautiful and relaxing. We had an oceanfront room and could not believe the beautiful sunsets every night. We even watched whales from our balcony. The restaurants all served delicious meals and the tropical drinks were spot on. We are already planning our next visit!

Overall, my family and I were very happy with this hotel. We usually stay at the Westin or the Sheraton on Kaanapali Beach, but the Westin recently stopped honoring lounge access for Titanium members. Since Marriott’s terms clearly state that lounge access is included, we won’t be returning there. In contrast, the Hyatt did honor lounge access for Globalist members, which we were able to enjoy during our stay. Breakfast in the lounge was excellent, with eggs, fresh fruit, pastries, and daily options like pancakes or French toast. The evening happy hour offerings changed each day and included items like meatballs, coconut shrimp, orange chicken with rice, and empanadas with mac and cheese. While some of the food seemed like it may have been sourced from Costco, it was still substantial, kid-friendly, and worked well as a light dinner. Beer and wine were around $5–6, and mixed drinks were about $8. Our room was very clean, spacious, and well laid out. The bathroom had a bathtub rather than a walk-in shower, which felt a bit dated. We were upgraded to a beautiful ocean-view room in the center building, and the view was truly amazing. The penguins in the lobby were a fun touch, and the birds throughout the property added to the atmosphere. The pool area was another highlight. The pools were warm (especially compared to the Sheraton’s unheated pool), and the water slide was fantastic. The jacuzzi was nice as well, though it could have been slightly hotter. One downside is that the pool area is now split into two sections due to the expansion of the sushi restaurant. One important note: be sure to return your pool towels to the towel dispensing machines before evening. We were unexpectedly charged $275 after bringing the towels back to our room one night instead of returning them right away. This policy was not clearly explained at check-in. Apparently, each towel has a tracking chip and is logged when removed and again when returned. The fee felt excessive and unnecessary, especially given the lack of clear communication. The biggest drawback of the property is the beach. It is very narrow—only about 10 feet wide between the water and the hotel grounds—so we had to walk a bit to find a better spot for swimming and relaxing. Overall, we had a very positive experience and would definitely return.
