Eden Roc Cap Cana is not a 5-star resort. Shabby and half-broken.

Poor experience. We paid almost $3000 for 4 nights, but regret it. Eden Roc Cap Cana advertises itself as 5-star, but is not. While the beach is truly beautiful, the resort overall is in rough shape. Everywhere you look things are broken, rusting, or poorly patched up (see photos). For example, hot water was broken at spa showers, or shower drains would not work but flood. Rooms are shabby, our first one had a mildew smell (they moved us), all room furniture is worn, rooms have non-working light switches. Eden Roc food is decent but not great (breakfast is quite good). The staff were very pleasant and kind, but are not sharp or professional as is expected for a 5-star. For example, Eden Roc asked for our flight info in advance so that they could give us free pickup/dropoff, yet they never arrived. We took a taxi instead (staff apologized, credited our bill $50). Another time we booked a golf cart and the staff never even arranged it. Etc etc. Some staff privately told us Eden Roc is a frustrating place to work at. Overall, we made the best of it, but certainly would not come back.

We had an amazing stay at Eden Roc. The hotel services were outstanding. Special thanks to our concierge Sara, she made our experience so much better!! She was fast-responding and very cooperative, Sara arranged many of our activities at the hotel. Would definitely recommend Sara as a personal concierge.
Looking for to a return visit!

Better than we expected all around. We came here thinking it would be very different from our prior Caribbean vacations, and it was. First and foremost, Eden Roc is a boutique hotel, so maybe 60 rooms, suites, villas. We normally stay in Ritz Carltons and Four Seasons so we understand good quality and Eden Roc did not disappoint. We travelled as a couple in our late 50s and this place was perfect. The beach is beautiful, the employees were attentive and willing to help/please the travelers, the food on the resort was delicious but very expensive, the rooms could use a little refresh but nonetheless nice and tropical. Our concierge Sara was great - she was very attentive and helpful the whole week. We golfed at Punta Espada and we can’t say anything but wow. It’s a spectacular course with amazing views, great caddies, and meticulously maintained greens. There is a St. Regis close to completion nearby but we think Eden Roc will continue to do well because not everyone wants the 300 room resort with people everywhere. Eden ROC had just enough going on, it was not overly loud or busy, pools are beautiful/beach beautiful, restaurants are great albeit expensive, and staff is great. We would totally come back to this gem!

They pick you up T the airport in a private car, having lovely large Villas and beachfront suites. If you are in a Villa you have your own golf cart. The golf course is one of the most beautiful courses I have ever seen running along the ocean.
The restaurants are a la carte except for bread here you have a choice between the buffet or the menu. Cannot go wrong either way.
Three restaurants. We ate at two and were very happy with the food. The staff here are excellent, no names because I’m afraid I’ll miss someone. From the beach, drink and food service , the restaurants and the villas, it was all first class.
There were couples and families, large pools, great beach, good food. No rush for a chaise or a table at dinner. Very relaxing.

This was a bit of a splurge trip to relax and unwind with no distractions. They deliver what they promise and what we wanted for this particular trip - quiet, exclusivity, attentive service, and relaxation. This is the place to go for upscale amenities and food and rest. This is not the place to go if you are looking for lots of activities or a party atmosphere. Come to eat well, read a book, soak up the sun, and splash in the ocean or pool. There is golf and a spa if you want that for activities. You can also walk the golf path later in the day after most golfers are done which was a great option for a longer walk since the beach is small. The private bungalows are truly private which provided another level of luxury. A golf cart was provided but honestly we just walked to the beach and restaurants. It's not far and it's nice to move around a bit after eating so well all week. It never feels crowded or rushed.

Staying at Eden Roc Cap Cana was one of the best places we have ever stayed at. Mia and everyone at the resort was extremely helpful. Mia made us feel so welcomed! The rooms are incredible, service is amazing and the food was delicious. We will definitely be back!!

While it's not an all inclusive resort, our company made it all inclusive, so it was overall a good experience. The pools were attended to and the person called Mercedes working by the pool to make sure all your needs are catered to was AMAZING! She always made sure we had drinks flowing and suggested excellent lunch options. Always around to corner to help!
Other than that, the resort was fairly good...excellent clean beach that's super well kept. Food was fantastic although quite a bit expensive. The lady Dennis by the pool was kind of a pain as she always kept coming over to see what we're ordering and asking for payment although it was all inclusive, but I guess she was only trying to do her due diligence. Information provided on what's included in the all inclusive package and what's not was confusing at times so I don't blame her. But Mercedes more than makes up for everything with her friendly outlook. The only reason I am not rating the resort a 2 or 3.
Thanks!

My husband and I stayed at Eden Roc at Cap Cana in the Dominican Republic for our honeymoon this past October, and it was truly the trip of a lifetime. From the moment we arrived, everything was absolute perfection. The grounds are immaculately maintained, the rooms are stunning and luxurious, and the food—every meal—was simply delicious.
What really set this experience apart was the incredible service. Our concierges, Mia and Adonis, went above and beyond to make our stay special. They handled all of our reservations and made sure we felt completely cared for throughout our stay. One night, they even surprised us with rose petals, a decadent dessert, and a romantic bubble bath after dinner—it was such a thoughtful and unforgettable touch.
The beach attendants were equally amazing, and our beach bartender kept the good vibes (and drinks!) flowing all day. Every single staff member we encountered was warm, welcoming, and committed to making our experience the best it could be.
We truly can’t say enough good things about Eden Roc. It was the perfect place to celebrate such a special occasion, and I would recommend it to absolutely anyone—especially if you’re planning a honeymoon or romantic getaway. We’re already dreaming of going back!

A wonderful experience from start to finish. Excellent food, green juice, eggs, and avocado for breakfast at the Blue Bar, glorious seafood soup at the palapa, and exquisite coconut margaritas at the Blue Bar. The spa offered professional anti-stress treatments, the silence in the villas surrounded by plants, listening to the birds sing while sipping a coffee. I felt like I was living in a poem, the beach with sand that feels like talcum powder… coconut water under the palm trees… you have to experience it to understand it. The Dominican Republic has it all.
