This did not matter because when we were checking in the woman at the front desk gave us an awesome room in building 84 and booked all of our ala cartes for us.
The resort was well maintained and clean. My wife and I were very satisfied with the buffet. We have never stayed at an adults only resort before but will likely never stay at another one that is not.
Even though we had to walk a bit to access the beach area, it was worth it. Magnificent sand and surf. Plenty of seating in the adults only section.
At night they had shows (fire and circus were best) and live musical performers.
We ran into many different people who had stayed at the Aquamarine on prior occasions and did not have anything bad to say about it.
We had never been to D.R before but are definitely going back and will be staying at this resort again.
Thank you Bahia Principe for the positive experience.

Mosquitoes are awful. We were eaten alive, and I had a severe allergic reaction to the bites! They do not spray for them or do anything to prevent them! Cheap Dominican alcohol only! No bourbon! Huge, crowded resort! Beautiful huge grounds! Staff was very nice and well organized!

EXCELLENT!!!!!!!! We had a super vacation at the Bahia Principe Grand Aquamarine!!!! Check in was very quick. The clerk placed us next to the other couple that we went with in building 82. We wish we would have had a pool view, but didn't think to ask for that before we were given our room assignments. We were on the second floor and the behind the scenes stuff was going on behind us and got kind of loud sometimes. I would recommend getting the pool view room like we had last time. (This is our second time at this resort).
Our room was super clean, our refrigerator was restocked every day and was very cold. We were very comfortable.
The pool was very clean at all times. Juan was always around delivering "Dominican water" with a smile and a happy "very good to see you!" He was awesome!
The buffet was very good, a great variety, with themes changed daily. We ate on the outside patio a few times. There are a lot of cats out there and they can get a little aggressive with each other over food if people feed them. Whoever makes their desserts does a wonderful job! I loved all the fresh fruit too.
We only booked one specialty restaurant...the Maiko Japanese Tepanyak Restaurant. When we got there, we discovered that there are really two of them and we were at the wrong one. We had to walk all around the building to get to the other one. The food was really good and the cook (Raul) was very entertaining and fun.
Our resort was perfect, but we explored the other resorts too and found all of them to be very clean. We shopped at the village shops, went into the casino and played blackjack a little bit.
The beach was very busy, but the beach was very good. We spent more time at our pool. A couple of times, our towels and belongings were removed from the chairs about 9am while we were at breakfast. There are not enough pool chairs.
The spa is wonderful. I loved the hydro spa too. My husband and I did a couples massage and we both loved it!!!
The entertainment was great! We saw a circus show, a fire show, a retro show, and lots of wonderful live music!
I highly recommend this resort. If you are wanting to relax, you can do that, but if you are wanting activities, you can always find something to do.

Excellent restaurants, and service
Most beautiful beaches. Excellent service and excellent restaurants. Must try the lobster, so delicious. Monday night is all you can eat Lobster….There is an up charge for lobster but it’s worth it. Rooms need to be updated, but we didn’t spend much time in the room so it didn’t matter.

We stayed for one week in February and had an enjoyable experience overall.
Room:
We stayed in the basic Junior Suite. The room was clean, the AC was cold, and our fridge was restocked everyday. Our only issue was that the bed was rock hard. However, a few days in we learned that you can ask for a free foam topper to be added to the bed. It was much better after this.
Food:
We found the food to be good, but nothing beyond our expectations. Our favourites were the MEAT, Maiko and the Ambar Sports Bar. We also ate at Tequila, Las Olas, and the Garden Grill but didn’t find those quite as good. We liked that there was a lot of variety to choose from. We also liked that we could book all of our à la cartes 10 days ahead of our trip through the app. As far as I’m aware, you can only do this if you book a room directly through the resort.
Beach & Pool:
I was out at 8am every morning and never had an issue getting a chair in the shade at either the pool or the beach. Most spots looked to be filled by 10am. A couple times I saw a worker go around and snatch up towels from chairs that people had left in an attempt to reserve the spots.

The Bahia Principe is a huge site with about a half dozen sectors like Grand, Ambar and Aquamarine among others. They each have their lobby and food pavillion. There is a shuttle service in operation between each sector and the beach area.
We are just back from Aquamarine that is an adult only section. The rooms are big and fully functional, bar fridge with beer and pop. There is a nice Aquamarine Lobby with a bar with a reception, coffee machines and a couple of convenience stores. There are shows every night near this pavilion.
Pool, very nice and clean with a bar and numerous chairs. We saw our towells removed one morning, great so you dont have to get up early to save a spot. We are over 70 and always finfpd the pools are always busy with too much animation even in the adults only.
The beach is beatiful with no weeds and there are sections associated with your section, in our case an Aquamarine section. There is a beach bar and staff will get you drinks for a few $. Chairs are always hard to find. I wish they would apply pool rules there too. You can always ask the staff with yellow shorts to help you. They do wonders for couple of $.
We found the food to be most acceptable. Cafeteria food was good and good variety. A la carte restaurants are tough to reserve, we had reserved 4 with the Bahia app before our arrival (do that) if you wait until you arrive you may not succeed. They were all good and possibly better than cafeteria food. Our favorite was the japanese because of the show that came with it and food was good.
This is our second time in 10 years at this resort and we have no hesitation in recommending it to other travelers. Make sure you bring american dollars. Bar staff are happy to change your 5 or 10 $ bills for 1$ bills for you to use as staff appreciation. Its not a rich country and they truely appreciate although staff does not frown without tips but you may wait longer…
We would go back in a minute, you should not be deceived if you pick this resort.

Where do you start? Everything about this resort was amazing. We flew with Air Canada out of Montreal. We had an app, that made check in a breeze. At the resort, 10 days before check we were able to book ALL of our A-LA-CARTE restaurants. A la carte you say!!?? WOW. I've been to other resorts, where the menu is tasty but the portions are small but filling. All the a la carte restaurants we went to, the portions were HUGE! M.E.A.T restaurant was by far the best. Tasty steak. We did the MAIKO japanese was amazing, the italian was amazing, should I go on??
We were in the 80 block for our room, 3 rd floor. This is closest to the pool, and buffet and Lobby bar. The ENTIRE resort was super clean. I saw many of the workers, re-painting the sidewalk trims and repainting some of the outside of the rooms. Service all around was great and the servers were all very pleasant.
JUAN at the pool bar, is a BEAST. Full of energy, always smiling, always a kind word. We spent most of our time near the pools. We barely went to the beach. Not because it wasn't great, because it was, but because we traveled with a huge group of friends and that's just where we ended up. I've heard and read of comments that the resort is too big or things are too far. Unless you have mobility issues, I'd say yes, otherwise, my wife and I walked to all our a la carte restaurants and to the beach and to the market village. 5 to 10 minute walk at MOST. There are 2 sports bars. One is Sports bar/Karaoke (this one is small) and then there is the Other sports bar which is behind the Aquamarine bar lobby. (THIS ONE KICKED $#@#) There's nothing better as a Canadian, to go to a sports bar, to watch team Canada vs USA with all inclusive beer and wings. Then main buffet had a huge selection for breakfast, lunch or supper. Never a shortage. WE WILL BE BACK TO THIS RESORT FOR SURE!!

Transportation was very inconsistent. Takes 8 minutes to briskly walk to beach and for 3/4 of our trip it was faster to walk than wait for the tram. Housekeeping was bare minimum. Fridges not routinely restocked. Only one bar open in the evening. You will wait 15 minutes (minimum) for a drink. And no one clears the tables.
Buffet food was consistently good. Table service for coffee/water was lacking unless manager nearby.
Often ran out of beach towels and/or cards for turning in towels.
All a la carte restaurants we ate at were excellent for food and drink quality.
Got eaten alive by mosquitos and the reaction is pretty severe for 3 of our party of four. Pack bug spray.
Don’t stay in room 83220. Your view is the loading dock of a neighbouring resort. You won’t be able to use your balcony. and there are floodlights and alarms throughout the night.
Beach bathrooms had broken locks/doors/lights. You often had to pew in the dark holding the door closed with your foot. But they were clean.
We won’t stay at Aquamarine again. Would consider Ambar as it seems a step above.

This is up there with one of my favourite holidays, we felt very safe (inside the complex).
The grounds are lovely, we walked 60 miles for the 11 nights stay - all around the Bahia complex.
We upgraded to a Superior Room but no idea what the difference was between that and a standard room- but the room was HUGE, biggest we’d ever stayed in.
Our safe stopped working one day and the maintenance team were very quick getting it sorted.
The jacuzzi bath was a cool feature but ours didn’t keep the water in - our own fault for not asking to change rooms at the time.
The reception staff try to upgrade you to Bahia Ambar when you check in without even seeing this hotel - but glad we didn’t as this place was great.
The food was incredible, there was plenty of variety. There are lots of shops all round the resort.
If you’re considering the all day boat trip to Saona Beach most of it is travelling and about 1 hr max on the island so it’s a longgg day - good if you like boat parties.
We wouldn’t recommend the buggy trip, they brake down all the time so you don’t feel safe, and when you get to the cave it’s just a giant tourist trap and the locals try to pull you into their shops and when we went, we couldn’t even get to the cave due to the amount of people on the trip.

First off NOT enough servers around the pools or bars, SLOW servers once you do get served, not enough small tables by pool, the entertainment team is a JOKE. The entertainment in the evenings BAD. The TV in the rooms have 125 channels and 5 English if your lucky, and very fuzzy all 125. The TV needs to be bigger and mounted on wall. Most AO don’t have to mess with towel cards and give you robes and slippers in the room. The rooms need updating and a recycle bin for bottles etc. NOT EVER going to another Bahia.

We (3 couples) booked a 2nd trip the end of January as our longer trips down south were in March.Four of us had stayed in the Grand Bahia Bavaro complex about 9 years ago but this was our first time at Aquamarine
Even though this was a less expensive trip then our usual resort the big M resorts two resorts over we were all very pleased with the valve we received and the fact it is a small resort in a big complex
The Excellent: The staff were wonderful and friendly
Food was very good restaurants & Buffet
We could book and had access to the amber
restaurants and they did not disappoint
The resort was spotless and our rooms were cleaned
Promptly and fridge refilled every day
Small resort easy to navigate
The Good: Wi Fi was not bad stayed connected
Bracelet to open your door worked flawlessly
Rooms were in good condition everything worked
Needs Improvement: No dedicated Beach restaurant for our resort
Not allowed to use the Amber’s only the very
crowded and understaffed GB Punta Cana one.
2 star at best
Trolly was full when passing the Aquamarine pick up stop Need dedicated trolly in the morning between beach and Aquamarine 😢 waited 25 minutes several days for one with space.
All in all we would return again this time for 2 weeks. Except for the trolly and beach restaurant this resort is 5 stars and is well managed
If the two issues were addressed it could be as good as any long that beautiful stretch of beach

This is our third time at Bahia Principe Grand ... 2nd time at Aquamarine which is an adult only section of this resort. Apart from their application, which needs improvement, especially before vacation planning, this location is truly fantastic.
It appears they take gest satisfaction seriously. From year to year, we have noticed wide improvements. What stands out is the remarkable staff friendless and aim to please. It almost feels unfair to single out a particular employee as they , from grounds keeper to management personnel were all willing to go above and beyond. Having said that, i must acknowledge one of the amazing poolside waiter, Romader , a true asset to Bahia Principe.
The pool area of the Aquamarine does however need more loungers, it is my understanding that this is due to many having been removed for repairs, I do hope they are replaced soon. The staff was observed removing items from unattended chairs, however their appears to have no system to establish how long they were left unattended with some being cleared while gest were absent for a very short time... perhaps a warning ⚠️ sticker be placed first then after an established period of time if still unattended, then items can be removed.
The entertainment at poolside and at various locations has also improved tremendously, from singers, dancers, acrobatics, fire shows, karaoke, white party etc... there's something for everyone ..
When it comes to food... well let's just say i gained a few pounds...lol the amazing specialty restaurants choices are multiple from steak house M.E.A.T. , Garden Grill, to Japanese Tepenyaki, Brazilian, Italian, Mediterranean, Etc... there's something for every taste. The Buffet alone was sufficient with great food varieties of dishes from seafood to pasta bar and carving section. Fresh fruits and salad bar, etc.. so much choices..
The beach area is also great. Lots of loungers, lots of shade area and definitely one of the nicest fine sandy beach in the area. Aquamarine guest have access to a private area, with great waiter service and bar very nearby. A few vendors, however they are not pushy...
All in all, it is a great resort and we will most certainly return... we Highly recommend this resort whether you are looking to relax or partake in the numerous activities and parties..
A special message to ALL the staff of the resort... THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO, IT IS APPRECIATED..

This is our third visit to Aquamarine and every time it feels like coming home. We arrived late at night and we didn't get our room request. We were informed that the resort was at 99% compacity and to check back in morning. We were offered a room change 2 days later but since we were there for 2 weeks and had already unpacked we decided to stay in the room. The room needed a little upgrading but was always kept clean by the staff. If you like hard beds this is your place. We were shocked that a few of the bartenders (Luis/Smerlin/Christopher) remembered us from last year. The pool bar area now has live entertainment. The one lady can really sing hard rock/hair band music (she'd be great in the lobby for a change). If I have to give a bad experience it would be with Linda the cook at the pool grill. She doesn't seem to like her job and took offence when I had asked for my burger to be cooked longer, it was still very pink. The music (DJ) around the pool area needs a changeup, they play the same playlist everyday. There is NO reserving of pool loungers, your belongings will be placed in clear bags and then you need to do the walk of shame to towel bar to pick up. it's not enforced daily but should be, so keep an eye. The entertainment staff were great, they really tried to get you up and moving and involved. Ray was our favorite, his English was very good and he helped us with our Spanish. He always had a smile. We did notice that it was mostly male waiters around the pool this year and Juan (aka the runner, we nicknamed him that) always had a full tray of drinks and delivered right away. May I say that these people have an amazing memory. The lobby is amazing, tons of tables, chairs for playing games or just relaxing. In the evening this is where most of the night shows are, all ending by 11pm. The lounge singer at night has an amazing voice, she just needs to change her set list. It can be repetitive. Our favorite bartender in the lobby was Christopher, he really pays attention to detail when making his drinks. He usually has his own area/specialty area in the evening. The a la cartes are fabulous no complaints, we even tried a few new ones that we couldn't get into last year. The buffet has something for everyone. I am a picky eater and I always found plenty to eat. One complaint would be the vegetable warmers were never hot enough so vegies were warm/cold, which was a shame. A big shout out to our omelet maker Gabriel, again he recognized us from previous years. We looked forward to seeing him every morning. Another shout out to Francis, a waiter, we nicknamed him the whistler. He makes bird calls in the dining room. The SPA is fabulous, clean, private, heavenly music playing quietly, very relaxing. I had a 2 hour appt and my masseuse, her name was Nurys was amazing. I felt like a million afterwards. The beach was fantastic and the staff were always attentive to find customers a lounger or shade. The water was warm and crystal clear with the beautiful turquoise colours. We still highly recommend for an adults only, this place is top notch. We will return in the future.

So, i stayed at Ambar over a decade ago and hated it. Didnt think the staff was friendly or accommodating to certain groups of people, didn't like the food, etc. I stayed at Aquamarine this time, not realizing all of the resorts are literally connected, and because it was a good price. So me not remembering that these resorts are not read out for a part, when I pulled up and saw Ambar I got nervous about being back here. I will say this visit was so much better.
The food still can be improved. I eat all types of food and I'm open to all types of food but it just seemed like the selections in the buffet or hit or miss. For example croissants amazing, muffins sandpaper. But overall I dined sufficiently and it served it's purpose.
The service could be improved in a la carte. Again, so kind but often brought the wrong food, side dish, or desert but we just dealt with it and ate it anyway as we were not picky. Could be a communication thing.
The drinks were always good and always flowing.
Again, the staff was very kind and courteous. You have to keep in mind that most do not speak English so if you realize your Spanish is limited and you're not getting anywhere, politely move on and find someone who you can communicate with. Staff is not rude some just do not understand what you're asking for. But they try.
Resort and amenities- I was surprised to find out that room service has a fee. Not many all inclusives have a room service cost. The resort property is very nice. I see no signs of the resort being worn or looking old. The room themselves can use upgrades. The furniture is not very modern I don't care but if that's what you're into this might not be the place for you. I saw ootprints in the tub I guess from someone trying to clean high spaces, under the bed was very dusty. My refrigerator did not work. The mini bar did not have snacks it just had soda and water and I think a beer. So they were a couple of times where I was hungry and my choice was to either head to the lobby store or pay money for room service.
Just being honest but in spite of all that such a great time. They were quick to correct any issues.
I was in 82 310. Great pool view.
Would i return. Probably if the price is right m.

In our two-week stay, we found that the buffet had no variety. In contrast with Bahia Turquoisa and Grand Bahia, which had theme nights.
The room was 3.5 due to a broken door latch, a clogged toilet, an air conditioner didn't work properly, and missed water delivery. Miss Yaneiri maintained our room to high standard.
The second week, we found out that we had transportation to A la carte restaurants, which were definitely a 5*.
Given the 9 previous times, we expected Aquamarine to be superior to Turquoisa and Bahai Grand, considering the difference in price.

Currently at the aquamarine and I have to say it has been a terrible time since our group of 14 has been here 5 days ago. When we arrived they couldn’t find our names and once we got that straightened out it wasn’t the room we requested but it was 10 at night and just wanted to get settled . The rooms the superior junior suite was very nice, big and had everything we needed. That evening we all went on the Bahia app and had all our names and room numbers wrong so we informed the front desk and they requested that we go down with our passports again so we did so and they told us all was fixed and we checked the app and it was the same and still is the same. Our first morning going back to my room after breakfast I slipped on water that was the tiles by the pool and cracked my head open and hurt my hand. They placed me in a chair and gave me spray and liquid glue to stitch up my head. The gentleman helped my husband get me back to the room asked me if I wanted to seee a doctor I said I didn’t just wanted to lay down at that point and he said can I bring you a liability form for you to sign for the hotel, wow that is some compassion. We went on the app before we left booked all our restaurants and received a confirmation email from the hotel. When we went to our first ala carte they told us there was no reservation so after showing the proof and waiting twenty minutes after arguing they finally let us in. The next day we went to guest services and asked them to confirm our reservations and she went on the computer and said all was fine. The next night the same problem, not only does it make us look like idiots holding up the guests behind us but so frustrating. My sister goes to guest services the next morning again tells them what happened and is getting nowhere and the lady tells my sister to go away she’s not dealing with her anymore. My sister told her she wasn’t going anywhere and another lady came over explained our problem again and she said would get it all straightened out. When we confirmation had wrong times and for four people and one reservation for 10 people. Back to the desk we go again and they tell us we deleted our reservations and that is what they gave us which was a lie.. So frustrated with this resort would never return and would not tell anyone to come here. If we are a group of 14 how would they ever handle a big crowd for a wedding. The Only good thing this resort has going for it is the entertainment team it is one of the best I have seen on my many trips to the Dominican Republic.

Big resort but always can catch trams going back and forth to beach if walking for 5-10 minutes is too much in the heat.

I advise downloading the bahia principle app and doing this before you arrive. Very close to the beach also! Ambar is another resort a bit closer to the beach but no sure of their entertainment. There is also a village, casino and club but all separate to the main site. I really would recommend this brilliant resort! We had a fantastic time! Also note that there are five resorts on one campus so you can walk about and visit all of them!

The only reason I didn't give the resort 5 stars is that the TV was substandard. The picture was grainy and there were only American news channels to watch in English. That's really the only negative thing I can say. I don't know if it was just our room or if that's what it was like everywhere.
You never know what you're going to get at an all-inclusive so I'm glad to say that this place was lovely. Our room was large, clean, comfortable and quiet. The staff was unfailingly professional.
Our building was less than 10 minutes from the beach if you walked, but there are open air buses that run regularly if you want to get there faster. The grounds were beautiful and while we were there the weather was hot and sunny the entire week. The buffet was great and the waiters and waitresses extremely pleasant. We opted to eat at one of the restaurants, the Italian, and it was very good.
Before I go I'd like to add that tipping goes a long way to making your stay even nicer. The workers depend on tips to supplement their income and believe me, they are very appreciative.
We're planning to go back in the fall and can't wait.
