This was the nicest bed and breakfast we've ever stayed in hands down. We are not even people that typically like BnBs, but this was truly like staying in a home and feeling so comfortable and that you are being taken care of while in a far away place. We've been to St Thomas before and have been to a couple resorts, and I can't say enough good things about the experience at At Home in Tropics - from the delicious breakfast home cooked by the owner, to the perfectly kept room and facility. The location is perfect in walking distance to Charlotte Amalie which has a nearby ferry station with the most amazing 30-minute ferry ride to Cruz Bay in St. John. You can walk to restaurants so you don't get tired of the same lousy resort food and annoying music and vacationers. The other people who stayed here were so respectful and it was the perfect amount of quiet but also laidback and not uptight lodging. The views are breathtaking/spectacular! We had a king room with a large balcony and you could see the bay from not only the balcony but also lying in the bed. We slept great here which is rare on vacation...I feel like there are always sounds and disturbances at other hotels and we travel often so not picky, but I would say that if we come back to St. Thomas that this would be our first choice for a place to stay. We ate at this great restaurant with the nicest staff and most delicious food - Surf and Turf Bistro, in walking distance. Super close to other locations too such as Brewer's Beach, the airport is very convenient, and Maegen's Bay Beach. We thought the owner's were the nicest people and also not overly involved which was great. We are grateful for starting our day with a delicious meal, warm hospitality, and excellent recommendations for things to do. Do not hesitate to book!

My wife and I went here on our honeymoon and loved it. The breakfast in the morning was great and was something different all seven days we were there. The view was amazing from our room and most everything in Charlotte Amalie was within walking distance.
The name really suits this place. My husband and I felt so at home, it’s got the kind of views that’ll make you want to stay forever. Our room was great with a super comfy bed, a mini-fridge, and very good housekeeping. They’ve got a lot of the extra you...

Our room was great with a super comfy bed, a mini-fridge, and very good housekeeping.
They’ve got a lot of the extra you need but didn't want to pack like beach towels, chairs, and snorkel gear. The hosts were very nice and really know their stuff about the island.
The breakfast is amazing. Fresh tropical fruits, local fare, and traditional breakfast foods. It’s the perfect way to begin a day of adventures.
We would definitely stay here again.

We had the most wonderful time on St. Thomas, and our stay at “At Home In The Tropics” was the best!! It was such a beautiful and relaxing place, which felt like home the minute we stepped in. Mark and Jessica were the most gracious hosts, helping out with dining suggestions, transportation, and serving the most DELICIOUS breakfasts (thank you Jess!). We loved how close we were to town, yet getting to fabulous beaches and restaurants was easy too! We can’t wait to come back! Thank you so much, and kiss the dogs for us! Special love to Ocho!!

Jess and Mark were wonderful hosts - from easy check-in to tasty breakfasts
to assistance with taxi to the airport. Their homey bed and breakfast featured nice quality linens, effective air conditioning, plenty of drawer space. Pool is nice with great view of bay.
Felt right at home on St. Thomas.
Cute, clean, well-located B&B with a splendid view of the harbor in Charlotte Amalie. A short drive from beaches; walking distance from downtown restaurants. Mark and Jessica are personable hosts with plenty of tips if you need them. We enjoyed home-cooked breakfasts every morning. Highly recommend.

We thoroughly enjoyed this historic property. It is a charming building. The innkeepers are attentive and the breakfasts served were delicious, we especially liked the use of ingredients grown on site. We used the pool area daily and watched sunsets from our balcony in the evening. The only drawback would be for guests with severe mobility problems because of the steps to/from the road. We walked the stairs to go to the downtown area daily without any problems.

Beautiful views from the pool and balcony. Fantastic fresh breakfast and service. Two super friendly dogs. Walkable distance to good restaurants, main st, and just a short cab ride to fantastic beaches. Would definitely stay here again.
Outstanding accommodations. There is enough privacy where it often feels like you have the whole place to yourself. The wonderful hosts, Jess and Mark are incredibly gracious and more than helpful when trying to book a taxi or dinner reservations. Also very thoughtful...they delivered 2 delicious cupcakes to our room...

Loved the pool/lounge area. The pool is perfect size, cool and clean. It is wonderful to take a break from touristing to read in the chaise lounges under the cabana.
Breakfast was different every morning (banana pancakes, waffles, eggs) all of it freshly made and delicious, thoroughly enjoying it while taking in stunning views of the harbor.
We spent time on our deck off the room watching the sunset and experienced a double rainbow!
This B&B had everything I expected in a tropical vacation destination...and much more!

The view was amazing. The owners were very helpful in providing info and assisting in setting up taxi services. My wife and I had a great time. The location was conveniently located in the main historic district of St. Thomas.
Our staying was beyond expectations. Well equipped and clean rooms, great breakfast (and coffee!). Views from property to the waterfront were breath taking. Complimentary parking is a plus. Jessica and Mark made us feel at home. We’ll definitively go back in our next visit to St Thomas. Thank you!

My husband and I stayed in At Home In the Tropics for 10 days in April and loved every minute of it. To back up a bit, Matt and I were the innkeepers here for the first 10 years of AHITT’s life as a bed and breakfast. What Jessica and Mark have done during their seven years living and offering hospitality here takes the Inn to the next level. What remains the same and beautifully taken care of are the historic building and courtyard of this walled and gated property on an old St Thomas step street. What is new is spectacular, really. Things that really made a difference to me? High-end totally quiet air conditioning in the guest rooms. The swimming pool redone with beautiful tile, coral stone and Diamondbrite. The entire back patio and decks area turned into the most comfortable outdoor living space imaginable with lovely Caribbean plantings everywhere. The views are still and always will be breathtaking. The walk down into the quaint and sophisticated Caribbean harbor town of Charlotte Amalie is still an exploratory treat and great exercise. Back to what’s new. How about Jess’s breakfasts? Every day something new, all infused with Caribbean ingredients, all delicious. How about the common reception area, the house’s great room? Filled with books, paintings, and an honor bar with local offerings that you just won’t find stateside. Finally, thanks to Mark, this accommodation is totally green and totally on or off the grid to the exact degree desired according to daily conditions. Three Tesla batteries power an array of solar panels so you enjoy quiet and continuous power regardless of what the local power company has going on. For all these reasons and more: Highly recommend!!!

This was our second stay at At Home in The Tropics. This bed and breakfast sits on top of the hills overlooking Charlotte Amalie harbor. The owners Jess and Mark are the perfect hosts. They show you around the place and leave you alone to enjoy your stay. This is the kind of place to stay if you want to explore the island a little and visit other USVIs and BVIs for day trips or if you just want to relax and enjoy the views and setting, which is stunning. The historic old buildings and walkways almost feel as if you are in an old European seaside town. Waking up to the birds singing (and roosters!!) and warm breezes is just spectacular. Their home/property is beyond charming, the back walkway, which is where you enter your room, and the gate to get in and the steps outside are all just picture perfect.
I would suggest renting a car. Driving is on left side of road and the topography can be a bit steep, but you adjust and can really get to see the beauty of the island and different beaches, etc. We did a day trip to Saint John, where you can take the car ferry and bring your car to explore that beautiful island. Jess's breakfast served on the deck by the pool is outstanding. Fresh, homemade, and delicious. She even made homemade donuts (Paczki) for us one day. It's a perfect start to your day
You can walk right down to the town where there is shops and restaurants and the whole waterfront area is redone with walking paths down to an area where the big yachts and cruise ships come in, with some really good restaurants down there. Waking up early was my favorite part. There is coffee on the patio you can go out and help yourself.
The rooms (we stayed in the same one both visits) are exactly as shown on website. Very clean and fresh. Comfortable linens and plenty of storage. From the balcony/patio, the views are incredible. You see all the rooftops of the historic setting, the tropical foliage, birds singing, and church bells ringing. A lovely spot to have a glass of wine before heading out for dinner. They have an honor bar in reception area with a variety of wines and beers.
This place is a little slice of paradise where you can restore yourself.

My husband and I stayed here for four nights back in January and just want to say that is definitely the best place to stay when in St. Thomas. The owners take pride in this property and it shows. The rooms are very clean and the food for breakfast is amazing. We had an issue where our flight was canceled, and the owner texted back-and-forth with me, in case we needed to stay there again which we did and she made sure that we were able to come back for that last night. Having our flight canceled would’ve been a lot more stressful without their help. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and the view can’t be beat. The pool is nice but just keep in mind. It’s small and it’s deep so it tends to be cold. We didn’t mind since we’re not much for swimming anyway. It’s quiet there, which is really important for us to be able to sleep at night. We would definitely come back here if we are ever in Saint Thomas again.
