Great Family Vacation

Kinda long review as this is the info I look for when researching! My family (2 boys ages 6 and 9) and I stayed at Rendezvous this past week at the tail end of festive season for a few nights (we then moved to Four Seasons on the other side of the island) ROOMS: We shared an ocean front junior suite - 1 king bed and 2 rollaway cots. I was worried at first but it still left plenty of room for the sitting area. The rooms are quite large and offers a good size balcony. Tip - the ground floor doesn’t really go directly on to the beach. There is some shrubbery between you and the beach, we were happy to be on the 2nd floor for the view. Really I would have preferred the 3rd floor. SERVICE: We are used to top notch service (Four Seasons, Rosewood, Montage..) so we were expecting that from reading reviews before coming. It was for sure hit or miss. The front desk was spectacular. The beach staff was just as amazing. The pool staff was eh (I shouldn’t have to ask for my chair to be made up and ask for towels). The food at both Merrywing and Rendezvous was outstanding, the service was a bit slow but very attentive. KID STUFF: We of course did the water park as this was the reason for staying at Aurora. It was a hit for both my boys. They didn't step foot into the kids club that was next to the water park but did take advantage of playing soccer on the field with other kids all the times we were there. Unfortunately, since this area was a 5-10 minute shuttle ride away from the hotel and beach, we were stuck hanging out at the water park while they played. We prefer staying places where the kids club is attached so the kids can freely go back and forth from beach, pool, kids club all on their own. This was a big down side for us.There is a playground and an incredibly large splash pad on the grounds of rendezvous. BEACH and POOL: The beach was of course spectacular. One of the guys working the water sports took my husband and son out on a hobby cat to do snorkeling. The pool is small but it was never crowded. The beach and pool are quite near to each other so it makes it easy to bop back and forth. Something we like as well in case one kids wants beach and the other pool. FOOD: There is a walkable lunch spot on the beach (sunshine shack) but otherwise you’ll need a taxi (bring lots of cash - they do not take credit card and they are expensive. You can charge back to the room for a fee) if you want to eat off property. The food was so good on site that we didn’t care to leave. We didn't have a bad meal at Merrywing or Rendezvous. All in all we had a wonderful time. We are glad we stayed half the trip here and moved to another property, was great to experience another side of the island.

Aurora Anguilla has just set a new bar for future vacations for us! Note to Management / Ownership: You have a beautiful setting; it is a phenomenal location with picturesque views. With that being said, there are many places in the Caribbean that are picturesque. What made this a phenomenal experience was the staff. So let’s start there. Jessica greeted us at the ferry, despite our flight being delayed. She guided us to the car to ensure a safe, pleasant experience. We got in at around 7pm, so it was to see a staff member meet us at the ferry. Our check-in experience with Melany was very nice; she was warm and very professional, which is what you expect from a luxury hotel. As mentioned, the resort is immaculate and well maintained. There are plenty of staff around who are willing to help out; they are a very engaged group; the resort is blessed to have employees who care so much! We had one minor issue with the safe and that was rectified within 20 minutes. The food options were plentiful with the highlights being Tokyo Bay for my wife, and D. Richard’s for myself. I had the wagyu beef burger on both occasions and it was probably the best burger I have ever had. We managed to have a meal at every restaurant, and all of them were solid. My least favourite meal was the Mexican buffet, only because I was already full from a late lunch - that was my problem! I did go out on a fishing expedition with Marlin and it was a great experience. It was just me on the fishing trip, so we had some pretty solid conversations about the NBA (although we have allegiances to different teams lol). He is a master navigator of the sea and an overall great person! We did take my four year old daughter and it was her first time at a resort. The staff made her feel like a princess. Jermaine was amazing with her, going above and beyond multiple times. We also took the bus tour of the island and Jermaine was the driver and Jessica was our tour guide. To navigate a double decker bus in tight corners is tough, especially getting around the resort; there is little margin for error. Jermaine made it look ridiculously easy. Jessica shared a lot of knowledge about Anguilla with us during the tour. The care and attention she provided was apparent. I also wanted to take this opportunity to thank Dean, the chef at the breakfast buffet on the Rendezvous Side, who also went above and beyond for my daughter. Richard, the groundskeeper, also made our experience feel memorable, bringing us fresh coconuts on a couple of occasions, which were a highlight for my wife and daughter. Also, shout outs to the shuttle staff, we never had to wait for long. We also had some memorable conversations with Justin! The highlight for my daughter and myself, other than the staff of course, was the water park. We went everyday and stayed for hours. Again, another person who made our experience memorable at the water park was Trishauna. She was always available to help us out when we needed. She was also great with our daughter, who loved her virgin piña coladas. Thank you to Trishauna for her kindness and professionalism. Overall, the trip met our expectations for a luxury resort, and may have also ruined our future plans as this will be the new bar for comparison. It is not the cheapest place to vacation, but we did get what we paid for and more. We do like to try out new places, however, we do one day hope to return to Aurora Anguilla!

Full-service Fun Destination, No need to leave the resort

Large resort property divided into 3 sections with plenty of helpful staff. The grounds and public areas are all well-maintained, comfortable, and lovely. There are shuttles to take you everywhere on the property. The Rendezvous and Merrywing sections have beaches, large swimming pools, hot tubs, and restaurants. The Rendezvous side has a deeper , more comfortable , hot tub ; nicer beaches ; more restaurants; the spa; and a larger gym. The Merrywing side is close to the entertainment park, and at breakfast, it was either room service or the buffet. There were a la carte breakfast options on the Rendezvous side. Note: There are different promotions for "breakfast included." Some promotions just cover $25pp. The breakfast buffet for two without alcoholic beverages is $99. At all the facilities, they provided sunscreen at a variety of SPFs. In the middle is the golf center, a bar with a nice daily happy hour, and the D Richards steakhouse. We stayed in the Merrywing tower. Our room was spotless and cleaned daily. We had a fabulous , large ocean-view double room. The double included 2 beds, not queens, and just one nightstand. The sheets and pillows were soft, the beds were comfortable. Note: There are no balcony rooms in the tower. The closet was large and included a safe. This was one of the few times I didn't have to request extra hangers. The bathroom was large with a big tub, double sink, and spacious shower. One negative to the room was that there was no door separating the toilet from the rest of the bathroom. Amenities included house-brand bar and liquid soap, conditioner, shampoo, and moisturizer. The conditioner wasn't great at detangling my hair, and there was no indication as to whether the products were good for color-treated hair. The hairdryer was adequate. Complimentary bottles of water and coffee were included and replenished at turndown. Upon request, they brought a kettle and a variety of teas. Engineering provided an extension cord to help connect my Firestick, though Netflix and Amazon were preloaded on the TV with an easy option to delete your credentials at checkout. There were no chocolates on our pillows, but the first night, they provided a lavender mist to aid with sleep with turndown service. We tried to take advantage of most of the included activities. Some were scheduled at the same time, so we couldn't do them all and none were scheduled in the afternoon. Note to hotel: please add afternoon yoga. The pickleball clinic was great! The bus tour of the island including rum punch was fun. There were 3 people in the very tough boot camp class and 4 in the gentle yoga class we took. We enjoyed seeing a movie in the amphitheater; we were surprised there were so few people. In fact, the week ending 12/13 might be the best week to visit, as there were so few people here. At all the restaurants, including breakfast, the food was fresh and varied. In our full week here, there were only 3 occasions where we saw more than 10 people doing the same thing as us- the double decker bus tour, lobster night, and dinner at Tokyo Bay. Our favorite restaurant on the property was D Richards. Watching British Chef Simone make steak Diane and the meal itself was one of the highlights of our visit. Watching the sunset at happy hour at The Cut Above was also quite nice. While all the staff were more than willing to go out of there way to make our stay special, the coaches at the pickleball facility stood out. As you probably know, prices are high for everything. Expect to pay about $100 for lunch for two with 2 drinks and more for dinner. I considered paying extra for private pickleball sessions, but I felt the price was exorbitant. I expected mosquitoes. They even provide Off in the room. There weren't any! We did have quite a bit of wind and a little rain each day. We booked through Delta Vacations, not directly with the hotel; yet after checkout, reception noticed us waiting for our car service and volunteered to reachout to the driver and confirm our ferry time too. We really appreciated the exceptional service and are already thinking about our return visit.

Aurora Anguilla Made Our Anniversary Magical

My wife and I arrived at Aurora Anguilla Resort & Golf Club on Saturday, November 15, and we’ll be departing shortly. To say our experience has been 5-star would be an understatement. From the moment we reached the resort’s security gate to our warm greeting from bellman Kevin—who welcomed us by name as we stepped out of our taxi—everything felt seamless. Zenobia checked us into a beautifully appointed ocean-view suite on the 6th floor overlooking Rendezvous Bay and offered us refreshing rum punch cocktails and cool face towels, which were perfect after a long day of travel. Resort ambassador Justin (“Time: Never too soon, never too late”) was exceptionally thoughtful and made sure we celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary to the fullest. One of the kindest gestures was a complimentary chilled bottle of Fearless rosé from Sonoma County—close to our home in Sacramento—along with six chocolate-covered strawberries. The resort’s cleanliness was impeccable, from our spotless suite to every shared space we visited. The staff truly made our stay special—Ms. Zenique (“Sweet Z”) at the beach, Elbert who set me up with snorkeling gear, and Marlon who took me fishing twice in Rendezvous Bay, where we caught blue runners, white backs, lizard fish, and snooks. We also enjoyed memorable interactions with sisters Maureen and Joyce, Javed, Khiry, and Toni at D. Richards Steakhouse, where the vocalist Jeanette added to the ambiance. Our off-site dinner at Sharky’s was also fantastic, and it was a pleasure meeting the chef. Samora, our server at C-Level, was kind and efficient. We stayed active with a round-trip bike ride between the Merrywing and Rendezvous sides of the property, plus workouts in the gym. The ride was quite a challenge—and left me a bit sore—but worth it for the views. Nightly turndown service was always a welcome treat. All of the eateries at Aurora were excellent. We enjoyed Breezes, Olivia’s Italian (including the morning buffet), C-Level, the Thursday night Lobster BBQ and fire show, and the pastries, smoothies, and ice cream from the café. We certainly ate enough delicious lobster and crayfish to last us the rest of the year. Having visited Turks & Caicos twice, Anguilla is now making a strong case for being our favorite island in the Caribbean. We look forward to returning to relive and confirm this experience. Upon checkout, the lovely young woman at the desk even sent us off with parting rum punches for the ride to the airport. Celebrating our anniversary the week before Thanksgiving was a bonus—the resort felt quiet, intimate, and almost exclusive, shared with just a handful of other couples and families we became familiar with over the week.
