Iberostar Selection Playa Mita

The Good: The resort is lovely and all but one staff member was very kind. The kids program is absolutely amazing the staff there are so sweet and caring. I would go back just for that. My daughter and my friends kids loved the Star Camp and would bed to join them. I loved the layout of the building and the water fill stations, and efforts to recycle. The Mexican restaurant was nice. The buffet has a huge selection. I saw some people complained about the beach but we loved it. Just have to watch the tides and flags. Humpback whales were jumping in the bay. They will bring you seats and umbrellas. The appetizer bar at the Mexican restaurant is great, the main course was Meh, but We went back a couple times just for the appies and ambience. The best food night was the cultural night where they had different food booths located around the lobby like a street market with performers in the middle. The food and show was excellent. The Average: The 2 queen rooms are not 2 queen bed, they are doubles, so people should be made aware of that. Our room smelled of mildew and had some mildew in the bathroom but the beds were clean and comfortable. My parents had an air purifier in their room and that made a difference. The gym is tiny and hot but they have a lot in there. The buffet has a huge amount of food selection. The Ugly: The "specialty restaurants" are not good. The Japanese restaurant was bland and the wine was terrible. I never saw them open a bottle at the table and suspect they are filling bottles with a cheaper generic wine. They refilled drinks in used glasses and never cleaned the garnish from the previous drink out. The "French" restaurant was absolutely disgusting. Food was over cooked, yet not hot. There was a slab of imitation butter on a very poor attempt at a steak. The escargot were so dried up they looked like a scab when it falls off and were so chewy. I can't comment on dessert because we left and went to the buffet. They ran out of a couple items at first sitting. The french restaurant was by far the most disappointing. Despite that, the server we had was wonderful even knowing how disappointed we were in the food. Poor guy, he probably gets complaints all the time. We were there for a week for a wedding and all the guests who ate there said the same, absolutely disgusting.

Despite the unfortunate events happening in the area during my stay, Iberostar truly went above and beyond to make my experience peaceful, safe, and beautiful. From the moment I arrived, the staff showed incredible professionalism, kindness, and genuine care. They made sure guests felt comfortable and well taken care of at all times, which meant so much during a time that could have easily been stressful. The resort itself is absolutely beautiful clean, relaxing, and perfectly maintained. The atmosphere allowed me to truly disconnect and enjoy my vacation. Every staff member I encountered was welcoming and attentive, and their dedication did not go unnoticed. Even with the challenges happening outside the resort, Iberostar made this trip special and memorable. I felt supported, safe, and able to fully enjoy my time here. That level of service speaks volumes about their commitment to their guests. I will definitely be coming back again and again. Thank you, Iberostar, for turning what could have been a difficult trip into a wonderful and relaxing experience.

We had an excellent trip to Iberostar Playa Mita this February. Overall great experience! The best parts were the kids star camp - which had friendly staff and great activities for our 5 year old son. They even had an evening pajama party (for a small additional fee) so we actually got to have a dinner as a couple without our kiddo for one evening. Also the activities were great - especially Zumba with Angel! He brought the energy to every daily class making everyone feel welcome, have fun and sweat! We’d go back for sure. There were a lot of food options - a bit limited for vegetarians but still good. And great to have a 24 hour coffee bar as well. The hotel grounds were clean and well kept. The rooms with ocean views were excellent. There isn’t the best beach here but great views of the Bahía de Banderas and we even saw some humpback whales migrating nearby.

Excellent place with lots to do every night. We upgraded to the beach access suite and loved the room. The food was pretty good. Service was great on all levels. This has more to offer than we were expecting. One problem is the guys who book the tours at the concierge desk. Filipe (not hotel staff) lied to us and sold us a terrible city tour with Sun Sea and Land. We spent more time in the bus than we did actually touring. And the tour was a sales pitch for tequila and leather works. Terrible waste of money. Actual time on the streets of PV was 30 minutes and we were gone from 8 until 4. Filipe also lied about Dressel Divers. Told someone they were a dangerous group to dive with and to not use them. Not impressed with that at all. The folks who run Dressel Divers are great. We took their whale tour and it was incredible. We will be back, just wanted to warn people about Filipe and his dishonesty. It’s better to just uber into PV or Sayulita and walk around.

Went last week of Jan with my wife. We took the beach access room, we literally walked out our room and were walking the beach. The beach bar was good, short walk of 1 minute down the beach or you can wait 10 minutes for beach service order and return. I enjoyed the walk to the bar myself. Great Fish tacos here as well. Great Massages on the beach, I recommend the blue tent, Teddy Massage. Restaurants were good, been to better but there was nothing wrong. We did Tepanyaki, French, Mexican and Steak House. Breakfast buffet had great choices. Supper Buffet changes theses daily. We were lucky enough to see Whales many times from our beach chairs. The pool has plenty of loungers, easier to find shady spots than sunny spots. After you pass on the timeshare speech a few times they really leave you alone. Highly suggest the sunset bar for happy hour. Entertainment was above our expectations after reading reviews. We would return. We have been to about 6 different resorts throughout mexico the past 10 years, I would call it closer to 4.5 stars than a true 5 star, but the price is definitely right for this place.

What a wonderful stay. This was truly the perfect getaway. We upgraded to an ocean view and it was incredible to sit and watch the whales from our balcony every day. Shout out to Ale, our server by the pool. She was awesome. Also to the folks up at the Sunset bar. Also to the ladies in the cafe. Finally the staff in the buffet were great. All of them friendly and wonderful to chat with. The Japanese restaurant was so much fun and our chef Yarret (forgive me if I got her name wrong!) was so funny and the food was so good! We felt like our section was having the best time in there. We were not able to get pesos into smaller bills at the front desk. Other reviews we'd read here and suggested we could. Other people mentioned the same thing. So I do recommend doing that before you arrive. We figured it out. The room was great. There is a Chromecast attached to the tv so that was handy. Housekeeping was a bit off. Forgetting fresh towels, refilling toilet paper. It was just weird. Finally if you walk along the beach recommend going right. Less people selling things. We look forward to coming back in the future.

Staff and service was amazing beach beautiful and pools are fantastic Food was ok but not great The downside of the resort was our room. Only 1 outlet worked and the TV had a line down the screen How ever that wasnt a big inconvenience as we were not in the room very much The most disappointing aspect to the room was the walls were very thin you could hear the people in the next room talking like they were in our room. We stayed at the resort last year and didn’t have this issue so it was probably the room itself This didn’t ruin the trip but made it not as relaxing

We probably should have looked into this resort a bit more before booking, as it’s quite a distance from Puerto Vallarta. The property itself is beautiful, and the staff truly works hard to make guests feel welcome. That said, the rooms are somewhat dated, the nightly entertainment is limited, and the buffet food is often on the cold side. It also seems to be a very popular spot for families—there were children everywhere, which suggests they offer great deals for kids. I personally don’t mind that at all, but if you prefer a quieter, adults‑focused environment, this may not be the best fit.

Iberostar Playa Mita was an incredible vacation for us . We have been to many resorts over the years but never one that so completely was always on target to provide complete satisfaction during our day The rooms were great at any level or type The buffet will amaze you and the selection of food and other restaurants keep your meal options fresh and new each day The highlight of our service provided was Mayra in the lobby Bar who made a point of getting to know us and never stopped keeping us well taken care of every time we came in . Pedro at the bar was fantastic and made some mean ol drinks !! Juan in guest services and Emily at the front desk made our check in and resort access a top notch experience. Excellent service, food was great, lots of selection, clean and tasty filtered water, pool was beautiful, rooms were great. Entertainment selections were good. Great for all ages. Great accessibility, able to get to the beach- a beach wheelchair or accessible beach mat would have perfected the trip:) Whale watching from the Sunset Bar all day! Spa/ hydrotherapy was disappointing, no hot tub, just a small bubbly pool- , sauna wasn’t hot either- Overall experience was great and would highly recommend!

Fabulous resort! The food at the buffet is excellent; fresh fish and seafood, well prepared and very tasty! The specialty restaurants are good, but honestly the buffet was better for variety of food. The resort is beautiful, very lush and beautiful mountain scenery surrounds it. It is a distance to a town so if you are looking for 'action' this is not the place. The pool is large and plenty of seating....no issues finding a good spot! The staff are very accommodating; rooms are clean and modern with water stations located throughout the complex to refill when needed.....no waiting for water to be brought to you. The beach may be the only 'downside'. Not great and a bit of a hike - and down an elevator to get to. The scenery from the upper bar deck is spectacular; watching the pods of whales go by on a daily basis was something to see! Bar staff are fabulous and the drinks are very good - and unique. Well worth a visit to this resort as long as you are not looking for late night partying. The Superbowl spread the hotel created was fabulous; creative and fun....and viewing the game from the disco on a large screen was very entertaining! All in all our two weeks at this resort were wonderful, relaxing, fun; and excusions into local towns was a good break away from the resort. Highly recommend a visit! You won't be disappointed.

We had a really great week and would easily return or recommend to friends. The downlow: beautiful spot, great staff, good value for money, something for everyone. If I could, I would give 4.5 stars because it is missing some of the luxury one might expect for 5 stars. However, it is a great resort for the price! The resort is an hour north of Puerto Vallarta, but an easy trip in a nice passenger van. We chose the beach access room and loved it. As a couple of exhausted introverts, we mostly read on our own loungers on our own terrace with occasional walks on the incredible beach, and trips to the beach bar and that suited us fine. The hotel room was nothing special, but it was clean and met all our needs. There were many highlights. The beach was phenomenal for walking. The sunsets were gorgeous. The grounds are in great repair. The food was good; the buffet had an amazing selection, but we thought that the Mexican food options were always the best. The Mexican restaurant was great, the others were good. Coffee shop was great, as were the tacos beside the beach bar. They are extremely attentive to food allergies. As someone who is gluten insensitive I had no trouble making good choices. The fresh fruit was incredible. We enjoyed the sunset bar and the lobby bar. We were fortunate enough to see a coati (a local animal, a relative of the racoon) and some small lizards. The weather in January was absolute perfection. Staff were friendly, courteous and helpful without exception. The pop, soda water and beer in the mini-bar (restocked daily) was a little treat. Three things to keep in mind: (1) As with most beach-front properties, they obviously struggle with the dampness. The mildewy scent was noticeable when you first came into the room. But you soon accimatize. Could be an issue for some with respiratory issues. (2) We wanted to tip in pesos, and this was a problem - they have an ATM that dispenses large bills, but the front desk did not maintain a stock of small bills, so we tipped much less than we wanted to (or less often and in bigger amounts). If you can, visit your bank before you go and request lots of 20s and 50s. (3) Finally, this is a big resort - the trip from our room to the restaurants and back was about 2,500 steps. Just be mindful if you have mobility issues. Things I was worried about but didn't need to be: we saw no sea snakes, no crocodiles, no mosquitoes, sand fleas or thieves. The air conditioning worked at all times as did the elevators. Our safe stopped working, but with a call to security, it was fixed in 20 minutes. There is construction going on next door but we never heard any noise. There was a wide variety of dress accommodated at all restaurants - getting "dressed up" was optional. We were invited to breakfast as potential candidates for their loyalty club. After an enjoyable meal we listened to the sales pitch and determined it wasn't a match for us. They paid us for our time in "Iberostar Dollars" which we used in the gift shop. It was a good experience; we were glad we did it. Great trip that checked all the boxes for us, and as folks who have been to a range of resorts we found this good value for the cost. Thanks to the Iberostar team for sending us home well rested and well fed with great memories.

I was pleasantly surprised with this resort. After reading reviews, my expectations were pretty low but overall it was much better than expected. The food was pretty good. I didn’t really care for the Japanese restaurant, but the steakhouse and buffet were pretty good. They have good liquor for drinks, especially if you are a tequila drinker. There are a lot of activities too. The pool didn’t get busy until 10-11am and it was great that there were always plenty of seating options and no need to get up and save a spot at the crack of dawn. My room had a comfortable temperature and the ocean views were beautiful. I think it’s a great option for families. The kids camp staff seemed really engaged with the children.
