Great Family Stay

Overall, a great stay. As many have mentioned, the rooms here are dated and could use a remodel - there are marks on the furniture and walls, the carpets are a bit worn from years of in-and out beach traffic. We had one big issue on our check-in day: bedding that had clearly not been washed or possibly not changed as there were blood stains on the sheets. This, in any instance, is highly unacceptable. The hotel staff was very apologetic and took care of the issue within a few hours. Other than this issue, the rooms are clean and well-kept. The beds here are shockingly comfortable and we slept well. Once you accept the lack of “wow factor” in the rooms, you’ll realize that it’s all made up for by being across the street from the beach. The staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating. The elevators can be quite slow at peak hours (breakfast time and dinner time) - but this is a very large and busy property so this is not at all shocking. We booked two rooms with World of Hyatt points and while we were not able to upgrade to an ocean view, they did accommodate our request for Diamond Head Tower, high floor and a bed arrangement change with no issues. This is a great hotel for the price, and especially great if you’re traveling with kids as you’re not going to be spending much time sitting in your room. A few takeaways: The pool is small and busy as mentioned, but this is great for little ones as the pool is shallow enough for them to play without too much concern. The Kai Coffee shop on the main level has excellent coffee and breakfast options. Anything you need can be found at the ABC store – from swimsuits to sunscreen to a single can of beer. The self-park parking garage is much faster than the valet – but is painfully tight and fills up early in the evening – we were able to use the garage instead of a valet and it saved time and money. Just make sure you can do a 20-point turn to get your car into the stall. We elected to have the Buffet on our last evening. Expensive at $90 per adult (kids under 5 are $12) – but our teenagers ate their bodyweight in chilled snowcrab legs. The sushi was excellent and hand-rolls are made to order. The pool bar was a fantastic place to grab to-go lunch or breakfast and also a great atmosphere to have a drink and watch the world cup matches!

This hotel is located in the middle of everything. It's the best location among all other hotels. Very convenient if you go surfing.

100/10. The food here is so excellent. The Lu'au was amazing! And SWIM and SHOR were incredible. Room rates were reasonable. The resort fee was a bit steep. Location is absolutely out of this world - right across the street from Duke's statue. The atmosphere was so lovely and serene. I'll be back!!

We had the best time and loved this resort! The beach is steps away, the resort offers fun amenities my kids loved, like a free daily treat by the pool, and beach toys you can borrow. We had a blast! Also, since we didn't pay a fortune for the resort, we felt the freedom to explore Oahu. Highly recommend!!
