We are beyond grateful to Fizal for capturing one of the most important moments of our lives—our proposal! From start to finish, he was an absolute professional, but more than that, he brought so much warmth and excitement to the experience. He was discreet and creative, making sure to capture every single emotion—the surprise, the joy, and the love that filled the moment. When we finally saw the photos and videos, we were blown away. He created personalized videos that seemed like we were in a movie. Every shot was stunning, perfectly framed, and filled with so much emotion. It truly felt like we were reliving the moment all over again. Not only is Fizal incredibly talented, but he also made us feel comfortable and at ease, which made the entire experience even more special. First I would highly skipping the tour to the ECO trash yard. The island is HUGE and not as well manicured like Four Seasons Landaa or Joali, but it has its own special charm to it. Snorkeling is not its forte either. Now on to the good side of Soneva Jani. The lagoon is calm and very relaxing. The highlight is the resort room (villa 88)being extremely spacious and very well appointed. The slide was extremely exhilarating. The restaurants are great and setting is wonderful. I do have to point out the wood plank flooring at The Director’s Cut restaurant annoyingly vibrates whenever people walk by and need to be corrected, but the food was wonderful. Don’t miss the Thai Crab Omelette at breakfast. Lastly, the people are super super nice. Our butler Kelly was extremely friendly and helpful. We will go back again to Soneva Jani just for her exceptional service. She’s a great asset to Soneva Jani. Jay

Our stay at Soneva Jani was nothing short of magical. This resort seamlessly combines sustainability and luxury, setting the benchmark for authentic, environmentally-conscious hospitality in the Maldives. From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the thoughtfulness woven into every detail. The resort's commitment to sustainability is exemplary, with an impressive on-site recycling center ensuring most waste is reused on the island—a testament to the owner’s vision for preserving the environment. We stayed in a 1-bedroom Water Reserve that offered unparalleled privacy and comfort, featuring over 500 square meters of thoughtfully designed space. Highlights included: - An infinity pool with breathtaking ocean views. - A fun slide that plunged directly into the crystal-clear lagoon, even during low tide. - A retractable roof over the master bed, perfect for stargazing under the clear, starry skies. - A sprawling outdoor deck with sun loungers, a sunken dining area, swing, and catamaran nets for lounging. The villa was a haven of silent luxury, allowing us to reconnect with nature in pure tranquility. A welcome bottle of champagne added a celebratory touch to our arrival. Flawless guest service was a hallmark of our stay. Each guest is assigned a host who ensures every wish is met and provides effortless transportation around the resort via buggy. Special thanks to Rahu, who looked after us with such care and attention. The Crab Shack quickly became our favourite breakfast spot, offering perfect views and an unbeatable Crab Eggs Benedict—a heavenly start to each day. The culinary experiences were equally unforgettable. Director’s Cut and The Gathering offered a diverse and exceptional array of dishes, complemented by the resort’s whimsical chocolate and sorbet room—a dream for any foodie. The Director's Cut even offers a huge screen on which they show movies. We enjoyed watching the Passenger whilst having a delicious katsu curry, nigrini, and other Japanese staples. The kambucha was so good we order twice. We were incredibly lucky with the weather, especially as we visited in early December, which can be hit or miss in the Maldives. We enjoyed sunny and breezy days, calm seas, and spectacular sunsets that painted the sky in mesmerizing shades of blue and purple. Evenings brought clear, starry skies with a new moon and waxing crescent. We also explored the vibrant underwater world through snorkelling, encountering stunning marine life—a truly unforgettable experience. The resort’s wellness offerings through Soneva Soul were transformative. Cryotherapy, sound healing, and meditation were just some of the treatments we experienced. A special mention to: - Dr. Aravind Appukkuttan, who provided insightful diagnoses through pulse readings and Prakruti analysis. - Dr. Leslie Morley, the resident Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner, whose acupuncture session was deeply restorative. The warmth and attentiveness of the team made our stay even more special. We’d like to recognize Rahu, Winni (spa therapist), Aneesh, Candy, Nita, and the rest of the team for their exceptional Maldivian hospitality. Soneva Jani delivered a perfect blend of freedom, connection to nature, and indulgence, making it a truly unforgettable destination. If you’re looking for a luxurious yet sustainable getaway in the Maldives, look no further. 15/10.

It was the best accommodation in my life. What if there was a heaven? I think it would be like this. The service, cleanliness, and food were all satisfactory. I had an amazing time at Soneva Fushi and Soneva Jani in the Maldives.    The resorts’ commitment to sustainability was truly inspiring — from beautiful vegetable gardens to innovative practices like recycling all glassware, plastics and aluminium and using lemongrass to naturally filter water.    The wellness facilities were exceptional, offering unique tailored experiences, relaxing massages and serene spaces. The practitioners were outstanding and I loved that they offered both traditional and more modern treatments. I especially loved the Ayurvedic herb garden at Soneva Fushi where they source their herbs for treatments. The culinary experience was exceptional, with the chilli mud crab being a standout dish among a menu crafted by Michelin-starred chefs who went above and beyond to showcase their incredible skills and knowledge and serve us the most delicious food.   It was the perfect blend of relaxation and indulgence, and I can’t wait for the chance to return!

Quality control is great, all the staff at each food session (e.g.salad, cold bar, noodle etc) so professional and seemed to love their jobs. 2. Unique villa: the interior and exterior of the resort is something different from other Maldives resorts. Very natural, still luxurious, spacious, clean. House keeping team is amazing. 3. Eco-friendly: I learned so much from how the resort is trying its best for sustainability. Was very impressed with their efforts in recycling and reusing materials into actual crafting, making parts of the villas and small stuff like glass cups 4. Friendly and professional staff: all the staff very friendly, experienced, professional. Nothing to ask for more 5. My barefoot guardian Cindy: Cindy was someone who is exceptionally professional, who knows what she is doing, warm hearted. She made our vacation so special. It was the dream come true at Soneva Jani with Cindy’s help. Everything went so smoothly as she arranged things right. Everything was ready even before I ask. It was a 17hr flight from the US to Singapore then another 4-5hr to Male. Flight schedules were so harsh for me and my husband. But we are definitely going back because Soneva Jani and Cindy made everything so perfect.

We have been to Jani shortly after the opening in 2017. Without any doubt, it was amazing, yet also very much “waterworld” back then. We know many things changed in the meanwhile thus we were thrilled to return. And what shall I say – we really felt in love! Arrival...

We have been to Jani shortly after the opening in 2017. Without any doubt, it was amazing, yet also very much “waterworld” back then. We know many things changed in the meanwhile thus we were thrilled to return. And what shall I say – we really felt in love! Arrival was in style: At Velana, we were escorted to the seaplane terminal in the Soneva Tesla. What a nice surprise – our former butler Aju was waiting for us there! We know her from Fushi, years ago, she is now based at the Soneva lounge. New add inside: An ice-cream, cheese and chocolate parlour, amazing 😊. And next luck: The posh branded seaplane was also waiting for us. Jani lies amidst a vast, turquoise lagoon and offers fantastic views over the wide ocean and some small islands. We stayed in one of the beach hideaways, there are only 3 units which are relatively new. This is truly a wow-villa, very private and super spacious, nestled within the tropical greenery. The huge bathroom is one of the fanciest I know. We also had our own banana tree next to the outdoor shower 😉. It’s possible to open all wooden shutters which separate the bedroom from the yoga platform and the bathroom behind to get a real open-air experience. The design of the villa is pretty chic, white wooden furniture and cushions/fabrics in white and blue hues creating a cool ocean vibe inside the villa. The house features as well the retractable roof, but no private slide. Entry level consists of the bedroom with a small washroom next, a large sofa and table area, a pantry and a separate kids room with ensuite bath. On the upper floor located is the gym, equipped among other tools also with a punching bag plus another rooftop lounge and dining area . Outside terrace offers so many nice options to chill and hanging around. The sandy beach on that side is long, yet currently are some broken coral pieces on parts of the shoreline which makes it a tad tricky to get in during low tide. This will be handled soon. The newer overwater villas on chapter II are larger in size than on chapter I and a bit different. They feature an infinity freshwater pool, and an air-conditioned living-room without the sunken table. There is also one villa which is perfect for people with mobility needs, combined with an easy access to South beach. The impressive three-storey overwater building The Gathering in the North is the heart of the resort with several dining options, also it’s the perfect spot for sunset cocktails. Here is the communal slide located, as well the observatory plus the venue Overseas by Mathias Dahlgren. An intimate restaurant which is only open for dinner, focussing on local seafood and plant-based meals. We enjoyed a late lunch at Down to Earth, hubby decided to go for grilled fish and I took the prawns. Both dishes were excellent and the views over the lagoon are gorgeous. Dinner time was Cinema Paradiso time – we went to the amazing Director’s Cut venue opposite the large overwater screen. A superb experience, this was truly a memorable evening. Recently, there has also been added So Bespoke, an open-air teppanyaki table, seating only 10 guests. On the Southern part is the rustic Crab Shack located, also So Primitive and So Chill. Crab Shack offers a wide selection of crab dishes from around the world, of course you can also select other seafood items from the menu. Lunch was delicious, this outlet is definitely something very special. More options are So Local with rotating menus from one specific country each month, and So Wild with plant-based food. All day dining is available on both areas, North and South. One day we went for breakfast to So Chill which is directly located on South beach, perfect setting with toes in the sand. Next day we drove over with our bikes (well, that was a rather long ride) to The Gathering, home of the main breakfast area with a large selection of items presented on both storeys. Soul is the spectacular wellness and health complex with wooden bridges that connect the different treatment huts. I was a bit injured as prior to our departure from home I stumbled down the stairs and got a bad hematoma. The spa receptionist was so kind to send me the nurse to the villa to bring along some remedy, very thoughtful. I enjoyed a wonderful treatment (all natural body scrub plus massage) and post a fresh booster on the outside recreation deck. Soul offers an immersive treatment and wellbeing program, personalised by the resident therapists. Also, Jani is the only address in the Maldives providing stem cell therapy. Afterwards, it was time to have a look at The Den, the two-storey kids club which is the largest in the Maldives. Paradise found for all kids! Including a zipline course and a swim-in bar under the waterfall where the kids can order drinks 😉. Next to the Den lies the new Olive Ridley Marine Turtle Rehabilitation Centre, which will open soon. Very good to have another base in the North! Apart from the wide offer on watersports, there is also a surf wave close-by and a resident tennis/padel tennis coach is as well based on the island. Beach-wise are several places to chill and relax scattered around the island. You can ride along with your bike and catch a sun lounger on your favourite spot of the day. The island itself is very lush, 2 kilometres long (plus each jetty another 1 km) and comes with two natural lakes. One is a sanctuary for crabs (of course not the ones which are served at the Shack). Also, there is an artificial lake which is the remnant from the wastewater plant. After different filtration stages, the water is purified and can be used for gardening etc. Their solar panels cover currently around 45% of the islands’ energy needs and it will increase in the future to around 70%. An eco-friendly mosquito trap system is in use, without harmful chemicals. We had no mozzie issues at all. Of course, there is also a huge Eco Centro on the island where food leftovers are composted and most of the solid waste goes into recycling process. Turtle Hatchlings could be spotted (with some luck of course) at certain times, the identified nests are monitored by the resident marine biologist. Always such a bunch of things to do on Soneva, and always time flies too fast! And finally saying, the Jani team is just fantastic. Our guardians Aslam and Kelly (she is in the qualification, thus we had 2 butlers) were very dedicated and kind. Aslam is already on the island since the beginning or shortly after and a real Jani insider. Great to see again Sajeed, which we know from Fushi, and so nice meeting Manas and Samuel, both very amiable persons. Special thanks to Pea from The Gathering, a lovely girl and a good photographer as well! It was a wonderful time on this exceptional island and we are strongly thinking of a comeback next year.

Like many other's have said, the island is quite large so it take's a little bit of time to get from place to place. My partner and I quite enjoyed this as it was nice to ride the bikes and get a little exercise in. We really enjoyed the cinema on the water. Soneva Soul was incredible, one of the best massages I've ever had and the room was stunning! Highly recommend.

Having visited the Maldives seven times, we were blown away by the stunning natural beauty of SONEVA JANI. From the moment we arrived, our shoes were collected and we slipped into a sense of complete relaxation. We stayed in a 1BR water retreat on the south side of the island. The private pool was absolutely beautiful and perfect depth. The slide made for lots of fun! Special touches like the roof opening just make it stand out from other resorts. Food & Beverage across over 10 dining outlets were ALL outstanding - being a food snob, I was genuinely blown away. My favourite was “Overseas”. The thing that brings the resort to life is the team, led by GM Karen. Such a lovely, warm group of people. Our Barefoot Guardian Kelly was incredible. She took care of EVERYTHING - before we would even ask. Kelly was lots of fun, didn’t mind taking countless photos and speeding us around the vast island. Novi, Ali, Alim, Pear and many others were all so attentive. If you’re considering it - just BOOK!
