Great Server@Olio… Sergio
Secrets Tulum property is not as luxurious as some other Secrets I’ve stayed.
Olio restaurant with server SERGIO was GREAT! He’s very attentive and he’s a great server. My husband and I enjoyed him each night we stayed!!!! Sergio customer service was perfect 💚💚💚

We had an absolutely wonderful vacation at Secrets Tulum! From the moment we checked in the staff were so friendly and attentive. Also, we couldn't get over how quiet and peaceful the resort felt - there were days we had pools completely to ourselves :) The beach club was also beautiful, and the daily shuttles were so convenient!
Although all of the staff were wonderful, I'd like to say a special thank you to the manager, Luis, and Edgar, our server, at Jasmine. We would also like to thank Miguel at Barefoot Grill and Santiago at Bluewater Grill for their amazing service. Walter also went above and beyond for us at the spa! Ever at the breakfast buffet was so friendly and helpful, and Alberto at Olio was also so wonderful! Fabian was our bartender most nights at the Rooftop Terrace, and he also made sure we always had full drinks and lots of laughs :)
Our only feedback is that the restaurant menus in the app were hard to access. As a vegetarian, I always want to check ahead of time that there are options for me, so having access to the menus would have been so convenient.
That being said, our stay was absolutely wonderful! Our swim out suite was comfortable and spacious, and housekeeping did a great job. We also celebrated our 5-year anniversary while we were here, and the staff at Jasmine made the night extra special. Thank you, and we can't wait to come back!

We enjoyed an amazing week at Secrets Tulum (end of February)! We've stayed at many resorts throughout Mexico, and this was the best. One outstanding feature of this resort are the people who work there - BEST service ever!! They absolutely were a big part of making our stay wonderful.
As for the resort itself, the rooms were modern and comfortable, the pools were warm and not crowded at all (most days we had the Zen pool to ourselves), food was good at the al a cartes and really good at the special buffets they put on (Gala Night included tomahawk roast beef and crab legs!), and the house Cab Sav wasn't bad.
The beach is absolutely stunning, and we didn't mind the shuttle to get there as we saw parts of Tulum we wouldn't have otherwise seen. There is lots of new development going on close to the resort, so take advantage of the free bike tours to see it. It was only a 15-20 minute walk from the resort to the Chedraui, and from there easily walkable to the downtown area (much cheaper here than the Hotel Zone where the beach club is located). Although if all you need is a pharmacy or convenience store, there are a few very close to the resort.
Highly recommend this resort!!! 5 stars.
Notes:
- We did not stay in Preferred.
- We had a swim up king room in Bldg 3 backing on to the quiet Zen pool
- We used Pesos for tipping and shopping, with most shops preferring Pesos.
- A lot of reviewers have said they find it confusing to get around, so here is a tip: Room numbers help you orient yourself: the first number is the building, the second number is the floor, last two is your room. ie: Room 3115 is Building 3, First floor, room 15. Level 0 is the ground where all the pools are.

We have visited the resort twice and had an excellent experience each time. The hotel, service, food, ambience - it's all very nice.
We loved eating at Olio. The food was spectacular. Special shout out to Chef Gonzalez who came out to greet us each night. He also had an off-menu special lamb dish made for us on one of the nights. It was one of the best ever!! We also really liked eating at the Blue Water Grill. It's like eating in a forest - just carry your bug spray for the mosquitos :)
Shout out to Jairo for making sure our meals were taken care of both at the preferred club breakfast as well as Grotto. Jairo went out of his way to fix our umbrella for us in the preferred pool area. He was awesome!
Room service is on point, always correct and on time, which was great, esp. as we like to wake up with a morning tea.
We took hydrotherapy and deep tissue massages. David, the spa manager was really nice and helped us with scheduling efficiently. The hydrotherapy guys were also quite helpful - there were some translation issues but they tried hard to make us feel the best so kudos to them for trying and with a smile always! Be mindful of your spa times. We entered late for our massage by 15 min given our hydrotherapy had taken longer than expected. The masseuse deducted 15 min from our massage automatically without informing us. After the massage, we were just talking about timing, when we realized what had happened and confronted her. Then she told us that given we were late, she had to cut it short. We informed David, who was nice to give us a complimentary 25 min massage the next day. We were satisfied with the resolution.
Two things they need to work on are entertainment, sports bar, and coffee shop.
We felt like there weren't many people who seemed interested in their entertainment. Given the resort is very spread out, there are pockets where people always hang around so they should have a common place for entertainment rather than spreading it out so people are around. Also, guests didn't seem interested in the buffet style theme dinners every night so one night it was a hit, the other nights it was usually empty.
The sports bar is quite dingy and doesn't give a sports bar vibe. The coffee shop is nice but at a secluded spot near the entrance - almost feels very separate from the whole resort. Maybe try having an entrance through the main area?
Overall, a lovely stay, we will be back!

This was by far the worst resort we’ve ever stayed at. From the moment we arrived, it felt like a 2-3 star experience at best. The rooms were dark and uninviting, with no warmth or comfort. The in-room bar was disappointing—just two beers, no liquor, and not even a bag of chips. Having stayed at other Secrets resorts, we expected a fully stocked bar and better amenities, but this was severely lacking. The bathroom lighting was so dim it was impossible to get ready properly.
The breakfast buffet was located in what felt like a basement, with a horrible smell and stuffy atmosphere. Service throughout the resort was painfully slow—it took 15 minutes just to get water or coffee. The bars didn’t open until 10 AM, so if you wanted a drink in the morning, you were out of luck. Worse, there were no swim-up bars, and getting to the beach bar required a 45-minute shuttle ride, which was a complete hassle.
The late-night bar was even worse—it felt like a dungeon and smelled like sewage. Restaurant service was so slow that we ended up going into town for dinner twice just to have a better experience—something you shouldn’t have to do after paying over $3,000 for an all-inclusive stay. The resort layout was inconvenient, everything was too spread out, and the elevator near our room was broken most of the time.
To make matters worse, on a shuttle ride into town, we met other guests who felt the same way and had spent most of their time off-resort as well. It’s hard to believe this place has five-star reviews—either they’re paid for, or the reviewers have never been to a real five-star resort. If you’re considering a Secrets property, stay at Secrets Moxché instead. This place was a complete disappointment.

Great facilities and very friendly staff. Just be careful at the arrival: they will say you have 'won' the right to visit a partner resort (Akumel Tulum) and all you have to do is visit the space, get familiar and maybe next time you choose to stay there. Actually, you will see yourself in a sales day and they'll try to sell you 100 thousand dollars memberships - that's right! Other than that, it was a great place to stay.

The beach was also lots of fun, starting with our shuttle driver Carlos! Fernando and Ivan at the beach were also wonderful!
The water spin was lots of fun; I wish I could remember the instructor's name; he did a great job.
We will for sure be back. :)

This is an amazing resort with loads going for it and overall we had a wonderful stay.
Positives were beautiful, spacious rooms, that were very clean, comfortable and luxurious.
Our concierge Alexis Casonva was amazing and very proactive, checking in on us several times in our stay and helping us with several things. The ping pong table was missing from the pool and he arranged for it to come back within 15 minutes! As well as helping us with a late check out and a lost pair of sunglasses. This was all brilliant and made us feel like we were in a 5-star resort.
Lots of entertainment day and night and really lovely staff running the activities such as Aqua Spinning and the bike tour. Thank you Azeal and Luna!
Preferred club upgrade really enhanced the experience. The exclusive dining options, premium branded alcohol and snacks in the preferred lounge, upgraded minibar in room and concierge and made us feel like royalty.
Huge resort to explore and loads of pools — nowhere feels overcrowded. Good variety of relaxing and more buzzing spots.
Delicious breakfasts at Jasmine restaurant (only available if you are a preferred guest)
Welcome from the staff was impeccable and made us feel like we royalty/A-listers. Every time we went to reception they remembered us and made us feel welcome.
However, there was one big disappointment that soured the experience – the quality of the food. It just didn’t live up to expectations and didn’t fit the 5-star image the hotel has created. Both in terms of ingredients and cooking techniques.
We stayed as preferred club guests so we had access to more exclusive dining options but some of these were very poor.
We visited the grotto for lunch once and were so disappointed that we did not return. The menu sounded premium but what was delivered was not.
The restaurant at the beach club was below expectations and inedible. A simple burger and chips was poor, alongside the Margaritas from the bar that tasted of very cheap alcohol. As a result we only visited once.
We tried the Market Cafe buffet to see if this was better but we were disappointed when the chef didn’t cook the meat skewers fresh and gave us cold precooked items. He just didn’t seem to care or be bothered.
The breakfasts at Jasmine restaurant were very good so we eat here every day. The only disappointment was not being able to get a barista quality coffee with breakfast here and having to travel to the Coco Cafe every time we wanted a good coffee.
The preferred club lounge was the best destination for food and drinks and we returned here every day.
Service in bars and restaurants was hit and miss - certain waiters were always friendly and listened well but others looked miserable, impatient and didn’t remember our requests very well.
If we hadn’t of had the preferred club upgrade I think our experience would have been even more disappointing and not worth the money paid.
Given the cost of a night at the resort we expected so much more in terms of the food. On our last night we were so fed up with the dining experience we went to a nearby hotel called Aflora, and dined at their restaurant Panza instead.
If the food could be improved this resort would be perfect!

Great great service. The staff is so helpful, pleasant, and informative.
Beautiful hotel.
Lots to do if you want to get out of your lounge chair.
Beautiful gym
Relaxing spa service.
The rooms are beautiful.
If you fly into the new Tulum airport it is 35-40 minutes away.
Food is great, because of the small resort, there are 3 resturants, and some theme nights.
Some of the recommendations to help the resort;
The bathrooms that are unisex at the resturants. Men and women use the same restaurant. Should be separated.
The seating is not comfortable, anywhere where you want to have a drink before and after dinner, there is no where you can sit without sand.
The preferred club is not big enough to use, there is only enough seating for check in, the staff had informed us that it was under construction, however it was clearly done when you look from the other side.
Not happy when you check in, sales people are trying to sell you timeshares.
Under the bed lighting keeps coming on in the middle of the night.
Floors are slippery in the hotel rooms, they need to provide a larger shower mat.
Shuttles are not on a constant bases, because the resort is no where near a beach, you need to go to the beach club that is 15 minutes away. The transportation is a large open air vehicle that fits 32, not a golf cart that is explained in the listing.
There is no seating outside that you can relax and have a drink.
If the price point is right, we will return, but not in the near future.

We stayed at Secrets Tulum and guess it was what we expected after reading the reviews. Staff was very friendly but after traveling all day, the last thing you want is a sales presentation on "credits" to be used at the resort. These are just coupons...like $60 off a $260 massage which costs $50 on the beach. Very, very irritating way to start the stay.
The food was pretty good in our opinion but specialty drinks were too sugary and not made with real fruit, Ariel in the sports bar was kind enough to dial up a game for me to watch. It was a bit or work and appreciated but after accidentally leaving a pull over of my favorite team behind, it was never returned. I checked security multiple times without luck. Not cool.
The shuttle to the beach was fine and not a surprise since we read that this resort wasn't on the beach. Beach was very nice and food available. Probably the best part of the stay. There were several groups of heavy drinkers for the entire day and loud to wee hours in the morning at times but also not a surprise. This is a apparently a problem since we had to sign a "behavior contract" a check in which allowed the resort to expel guests if they get too unruly.

Had a great time at Secrets in Tulum. The hotel was clean, the food was good, the beach club and the beach were amazing, and the staff were attentive and friendly. We did the bike tour at 5 pm on one of the days and our tour guide Luna was very friendly. She told us about the Mexican and Mayan culture and told us interesting stories. Would definitely recommend visiting this resort and also highly recommend meeting Luna if you get a chance. She not only does the bike tour but also works throughout the resort. Ask for her, she’s the best.

Secrets Tulum is on the right track to becoming the great resort it has the potential to be. The staff works hard and they take feedback very seriously. So the key to having a good time here is to understand that and to manage your expectations. My wife and I are here right now, so let me give you the highlights.
The good:
The resort itself is beautiful and very clean. The staff works very hard to maintain the site and clean the pools and swim-outs every day. The pools are not as cold anymore. They started turning on the heat and are at a comfortable level, including the swim-outs.
The ambient music is VERY good. I can’t stress this enough. It’s all upbeat covers of popular songs ranging from the 80s to today’s music. It’s very loungy and creates a perfect vibe at the pool, lobby bar, and the restaurants.
There are plenty of great activities to experience, such as bike rides, foam parties, silent discos, water exercises, Spanish lessons, you name it! The nightlife always provides plenty to do with a variety of shows and activities.
The service is simply amazing. I would like to give a shout-out to Sophia and Samara for being amazing guides for the bike tours and being the life of the party at the pool foam parties. To Jairo and Erick for being our most excellent waiters and taking care of us every morning at the market restaurant. Also, huge thanks to Fernando for treating us like VIP guests and taking good care of us at the beach! Muchos Gracias!
The rooms are very nice and have all the amenities you would expect from a highly rated resort. Everything works, and you almost have everything you need. Our shower was not draining properly, and a quick request on their app, and it was fixed in the following hour! Very professional. We were very impressed.
The Hyatt app is very useful and well-made. I highly recommend you download it for your phone or iPad.
The ad hoc BBQs on the rooftop are a lot of fun and delicious, we recommend them.
The food is hard to comment on because I find this to be a personal opinion. I was fine with the food, but it was hit or miss; sometimes it blew me away, sometimes it was average.
Things to improve:
The sand around the pools looks nice, but it isn’t convenient. My wife is allergic to sand fleas, and she is being bitten nonstop the entire stay. This is why we avoid the beach, so why bring sand at the resort? Also, what is the point of the stations to clean the sand off your feet when they are located in an area surrounded by sand? I hope management reconsiders the sand and removes it completely; it’s kinda dumb and the sand gets everywhere, even in your room.
Cocktails can be hit and miss; not all bartenders are equal. Don’t expect the same quality of drinks from one bar to another, but this is easily fixable.
The air conditioning in the room is kinda loud, unfortunately, and rooms are not fully soundproof as the noise from the hallway penetrates the room at all times of the night, so if you are a light sleeper, bring earplugs!
I was really hoping the room would come with basic alcohol so you could mix your own drinks to enjoy on your balcony or terrace swim-out. I am not talking about the beers in the fridge. We don’t drink beer. But the vodka, gin, rum mini bar, that many high-end resorts offer in your room.
The pillows could be replaced with better high-end ones since the current ones are not very comfortable.
Other than that, we had a great stay and we would definitely come back and get another swim-out room!

My friend's milestone birthday celebration at Casa Zamna Resort was an unparalleled success, transforming a simple girls' trip into an unforgettable memory. From the moment we arrived in our exclusive beachfront suite, we were enveloped in luxury. The private oceanfront access and dedicated restaurant were simply breathtaking. The spacious room itself was impeccably appointed; the air conditioning was a godsend, and the bathroom was a spa-like oasis. The thoughtful inclusion of natural bug spray and sunscreen was a small but much appreciated touch.
However, our idyllic stay wasn't without a slight blemish. The sliding glass door to our private balcony malfunctioned repeatedly, ultimately failing to latch securely on my final day (see attached photos). While maintenance was prompt, this persistent issue significantly detracted from the overall experience and warrants immediate attention.
The culinary experience, however, was truly exceptional. I've stayed at numerous all-inclusive resorts in the Cancun/Tulum area (roughly three per year, for a week at a time), and Casa Zamna’s food was hands down the best I've encountered. The guacamole alone was worthy of a pilgrimage. Each dish, from the succulent lobster and perfectly cooked steak to the fresh fish and delicious shrimp tacos, was a culinary masterpiece. The shuttle service to the main resort, while requiring a 20-minute ride, offered even more impressive dining options.
Beyond the exceptional food, the daytime entertainment at the beach club was fun and engaging. Activities like friendship bracelet making and dreamcatcher crafting were more than mere distractions; they fostered a wonderful sense of community and contributed to the lasting memories of our trip. As premium guests, we relished the complimentary hydrotherapy and added on spa massage services, a truly blissful and rejuvenating experience.
The staff deserves special commendation. Their attentiveness and genuine warmth were infectious. They were incredibly accommodating without being overly pushy about membership sales—a refreshing change. The chef's personalized birthday meal for my friend in the exclusive restaurant was a particularly heartwarming gesture.
While the premium spirits selection was impressive, the wine list could benefit from an upgrade. The Prosecco, however, was consistently delightful. The lack of bar service before 11 AM was inconvenient, particularly for those who enjoy mimosas with breakfast (availability of which seemed dependent on the server). Tipping practices felt somewhat inconsistent, leading us to tip generously those who provided truly exceptional service, including our concierge team (Eugenio, Benito, and Antonio) who meticulously planned our activities and meals, and the activity staff (Johnny and Adela).
Areas for improvement include:
* **Room Key:** Replacing the standard hotel keycard with a wrist band key would elevate the resort to the level of its luxury accommodations.
* **Poolside Bar Service:** Service at the pool bar was inconsistent.
* **Sliding Glass Doors:** The recurring issue with the sliding glass doors needs immediate and thorough attention.
* **Restaurant Staffing:** Understaffing at some restaurants and the poolside bar resulted in slow service at times.
* **Food Temperature:** The temperature of some dishes (specifically, at Jasmine restaurant) was inconsistent.
In conclusion, despite the persistent problem with the sliding glass door, Casa Zamna Resort provided an extraordinary experience for my friend's birthday. The exceptional food, attentive service, and the thoughtful celebration details created an unforgettable trip. The resort's commitment to excellent service and creating a memorable stay almost entirely outweighed this singular significant drawback.

My husband and I and our two friends had an absolutely amazing time at Secrets Tulum. We loved how peaceful it was and enjoyed the atmosphere. One of our favorite things this whole trip was the activities team! Two of our favorite activity leaders were Luna at the resort and Johnny at the beach club. They were so fun and remembered us by name immediately after day one. Luna was cracking us up the entire time and made us special little flowers before we departed to take home with us. Johnny went out of his way to make bracelets with my friend and I when they ran out of room during the class. Our concierge, Gerardo, was also amazing with texting us every morning and tending to our needs. We cannot wait to go back and visit again!

My experience at Secrets Tulum was incredible. My boyfriend and I stayed for 5 days in the preferred guest section and we experienced great service. The grounds are beautiful and well thought of. There are a wide selection of pools at the resort because it’s not a beach front resort. I think that would only be my feedback, I wish the shuttle to the beach area ran more frequently. The food was good and the staff were very kind and accommodating. The resort wasn’t too busy which I liked, and it was very relaxing. The spa experience at the resort was probably my favourite part of the trip. The rooms were comfortable and clean. Booking excursions were kind of pricey though. Would definitely come back!

They made it feel like a personal experience. Aldo was attentive and made sure we had a great time. Overall, this was a very relaxing experience. The report never felt crowded! That was a huge plus for us. We had a great time. But those staff members made a good experience great!

Good but don’t go to presentations

What I did not like and advise against is going to any of the presentations that are offered. They use your time to sell you vacations without telling you all hidden conditions and details. That is very disappointing.

We found the resort to be very clean and staff was excellent. We weren't crazy about having to take a shuttle to the beach club which we didn't find worth going a second day. What I did like about the beach club was they had 2 small pools which was really nice. We stayed at the resort for the rest of our stay. We did have a swim out room which was only about 3 feet deep. Capacity was low when we were there so keep that in mind. We felt they had to many pools. With guests so spread out it was hard to get activities going. The prepared pool was the best pool. Drinks at the preferred pool and the activity pool were great.
The drawback for us was the smoking in the pools and on the balconies. The balconies ran us and a few others in. That stunk since we had a swim out. The smoking right beside Barefoot grill with the smoke blowing at the tables was so inconsiderate. We moved tables and staff committed on the smoke too. Everyone has a right to smoke if they want too but we thought Mexico controlled this better. We know this depends on the crowd but beware this was far worse than any resort in D.R.

I've only ever visited the Tulum Ruins but that was several years ago. We usually stay just south of Playa del Carmen. We opted for a change this time and we're quite happy with our choice.
We flew direct from Ottawa on AC Rouge to the new airport. Going through security was quick and easy, unlike Cancun. There was an AC rep waiting for us. We landed around 9:30 p.m. and arrived at the resort shortly before 11 p.m.
The swim up room was beautifully modern, though dim lighting in the bathroom. The bathroom itself is quite large and fully stocked with amenities.
The living area was spacious. We enjoyed room service upon arrival and a few times for breakfast.
The swim up was perfect temperature. I know other reviews said it was cold and that may be partly due to time of year. I do believe it's also heated and we asked for the heat to be turned down, which did happen.
All restaurants offered delicious meals but Mexican night (Wednesday) was my favourite. The casual restaurant by the "activity pool" was also open some nights for Mexican cuisine.
We didn't mind the open-air shuttle to the beach which took maybe 20 minutes. We went every other day. It felt like a resort there too. It's one of the most beautiful beaches I've ever been to. Way better than the rocky beaches further north in Riviera Maya.
Really enjoyed our stay. It will take a day or 2 to orient yourself with the circular structure but a good way to build up your appetite.

Secrets Tulum is undeniably a visually stunning resort with beautiful architecture and stylish design. However, as a newer property, there are several areas that still need significant improvement to meet the standards expected from a luxury resort.
The biggest disappointment was the food. Overall, it lacked flavor and consistency. The Market Café was the only restaurant we found somewhat decent. Unfortunately, the steakhouse served under-seasoned dishes, and room service meals consistently arrived cold and took a long time to be delivered each night.
We stayed in a swim-out room, which was lovely in theory, but the water was quite cold and the pool is shared with neighboring rooms, offering limited privacy. It’s something to be aware of if you’re expecting a more secluded experience.
Navigating the resort was confusing at first due to its large layout, and we only figured out the best way to get around on our last day. Service was also a letdown. Our concierge misinformed us on two separate occasions: once about a planned romantic breakfast that never arrived, and again when he assured us a restaurant reservation had been made. When we arrived, we learned the restaurant had lost power hours earlier—information he failed to share—resulting in an unnecessary $40 taxi ride.
We also had to switch rooms due to loud ongoing construction, which was disruptive. Additionally, the beach is not easily accessible. It requires a 25–30 minute shuttle ride each way, and once there, the service was lacking. Staff on the beach were inattentive, and the food provided—specifically the pizza—was poor quality.
Another surprising issue was the lack of authentic Mexican cuisine on the property. The menus heavily featured steakhouse and Italian dishes. If we had wanted that type of food, we could’ve stayed home.
Despite all of this, we made the best of our time and enjoyed ourselves where we could. That said, I would not return to this resort and would caution others to carefully consider what they’re looking for in a Tulum experience.
