Secrets Bahía Mita. Stayed Feb 28-march 7th. We used our VIP week.
Pools:
Pools are all great. There are a lot of them between Dreams side and Secrets. We spent our first day on the 8th floor preferred adults only pool and rented a Cabana and the service was amazing. The staff was very friendly, and on top of our orders. Refilled our drinks before we were done. The 8th floor had amazing views. We saw lots of whales and surfers. We had lunch here snd it was fast and lots of choices.
If you do t want s bottle if liquor kncluded in Cabana, they will reduce price.
Beach is not your typical AI, very rocky and didn’t swim- however it was awesome watching the surfers out front all day! We didn’t miss out on the beach- we were very happy and content around the pools.
Room service: It’s available 24 hours. We only ordered room service the morning we left. The breakfast burrito was amazing. Wish we would’ve ordered it sooner. Also, the cinamon coffee they brought was great. Plenty if Stevia, Splenda, raw sugar, etc on this resort.
All the food here was great. Probably the best we’ve had at UVC resorts. El Patio was one of our favorites. Try the churros for dessert. The cheese shrimp sportizer was amazing. Bordeaux was also amazing. I tried escargot for the first time. It was so good. My husband loves the tacaria outdoor restraunt too. So fredh snd lots of choices. You couldn’t go erong no matter where you ate. The green shrimp ceviche was another favorite. We ordered it at the swim up pool area everyday on the 2nd floor. We ate breakfast on the 6th floor market cafe almost every day. We loved eating on the veranda if available and it was great.
Coco cafe was great too. Their fresh bagels were light and not heavy do made for a nice in between snack.
Our butler Alfonso was great, friendly and helpful. We don’t really use a butler much, but was nice to have a person to ask questions. It was our anniversary so we had flowers on bed, chacoutery board that sad anaximg! We also had chocolate strawberries, champagne, wine during our stay. Great extra touches. Alfonso was great! Oscar G from UVC was also great! Between the two of them, the four of us were very spoiled.
Entertainment:
There was always night show going on. The ride to the theatre and the outdoor theatre had a bad sewer smell that came and went during the show, several people left during show because of it. Not sure if there was a leak or if this is gbd norm. There was knly one day that we saw didn’t entertainment around the pools. They did have water aerobics though. The water slides looked great, there is a few splash pads for littles and big slides for older kids/adults.
I agree with other posters about seeing a decline in occupancy now that it’s a 2:1. It’s probably my favorite resort as it is beautiful, great food and service but we would not book it at a 2:1 rate. We would absolutely return if the price is right! This was our 2nd time here and we lice it but cost of trandportstion and 2;1 may have us trying other resorts more.
Upgrade meeting: Lis pressure but we just upgraded to Gold Plus 18 months ago. I think were in a sweet spot now and upgrading again only if premier/VIP make sense dollar wise.
Note: Airport easy and fast to get through. Amstar was lacking customer service at best. UVC check in was great. Grounds are kept up and beautiful. Windows atriumsooks needed cleaning. Get a massage to the right of the beach, around the rocks uou walk on about 400 feet for 1/3 price and best massages we’ve ever had. I had three while I was there. 1 at the beach area with uvc bucks from the spa on property and two massages off property past clothes vendors.
We also did a private chef dinner with Marco that was the best dinner of all at his private penthouse house in Puerto Vallarta. Worth the 45 minute drive and spent part of day hanging out shopping at the Malecón area before our dinner. So we made an afternoon and evening of it. I posted his information on another post.
Whew! I’m done lol 😀

Great resort and Emanuel was the best pool concierge. Food and pools were amazing. Also saw the whales. Recommend!! Vallarta adventures was a good deal for the trip we had! We liked the sky bar so much and you could see the sunset from there, great hotel.

We had a wonderful weekend at Secrets Bahia Mita. We went with another couple, one of which was celebrating a birthday. Our butler Alonzo, made her birthday very memorable with decorations on her bed made with coloured rice, flowers and a cake. A number of staff came to sing to her. Alonzo was new to this resort and went out of his way to ensure we had a great week. Wonderful person and a great asset to this resort. He arranged a high tea with the help of the head butler. It is a new service they are trying. It is very nice. The food and service at this resort is amazing.

We took a 55 minute taxi ride from Secrets Puerto Vallarta to Secrets Bahia Mita for a 1 week stay in February. We’ve returned here a number of times simply because the staff here are really amazing and the food is good.
I would like to give Ramen a special thanks for always taking the time to chat and seeing how things are going during our stay. I believe this is the third trip here that we’ve chatted. Thank you for always being so kind to us!
The food at Portofino is excellent. We had two wonderful meals there and met Chef Ner Meza (Nefi). This Chef is very talented and made some wonderful dishes for us, thank you! A big thank you to our waiter, Juan, for taking such good care of us during our two meals at Portofino. The last meal we had here was very memorable and one we won’t soon forget. Service and food here were 5 stars!
I love the French restaurant, Bordeaux. The foie gras is the best! Everything we tried here was so good. Our waitress, Maricruz made sure we had everything we needed.
The Market Café here is much better than many of the other Secrets we’ve been to. There are multiple special stations (omelets, crepes, and Mexican specialties).
Himitsu had good sushi and sashimi. Service was good as well.
Olio is a good stop for lunch with a view. Good salads and sushi. A big thank you to Benito, our Olio pool waiter, who always greeted us with a big smile. It was so good to see you again, my friend!
Tacoyoti is my husband’s absolute favorite for lunch! A wide variety of authentic Mexican fare including tacos, burritos, quesadillas, tortillas, etc. We ate there frequently, trying the different dishes, and loved it. They are very efficient and quick in getting your order out to you.
I want to thank Omar, the mixologist at the Preferred Club Bar. Loved watching Omar making all kinds of special drinks. This bar, for preferred members only, also has a very nice snack bar.
The outdoor lobby bar (in between the Dreams and Secrets sides) is very nice with a wonderful view. They also occasionally have live music here in the evening.
I like that this resort really tries to discourage the reserving of beach and pool lounge chairs – how refreshing!! As a result, we found empty chairs throughout the day, be it at the beach or at the pool. It was fun watching both the whales and the surfers every day from the beach.
Loved listening to the Black Sheep band. They’re very good. There was a rock show in the amphitheater that was really good as well.
Thank you Julio, at the Preferred Sky Bar Pool, for keeping us well hydrated and shaded!
Now for the cons, starting with the restrooms at the beach were out for at least several days.
Being at the main pool is very frustrating due to the loud thump thump music they play, getting really bad around noon. At one point there was three different songs blasting (Dreams, Secrets and the entertainment team were all playing at the same time). And it was LOUD! The only way to escape the music is to go to the roof top pools. This has been an issue for us for every trip here at this specific resort.
Another issue is if you’re staying at Secrets, you can still hear the kids screaming at the pool on the Dreams side. (The two areas are separated by plants only.) The good news is there is a Secrets only beach, so you can find peace there or at the roof top pools.
We went to the newly opened water park on the Dreams side. This area was filled with mostly families with children. There are multiple pools and the slides looked like a lot of fun. That said, I stopped at the ladies restroom, and noticed there wasn’t a drop of pool water anywhere in the restroom – it was perfectly dry. That’s a first for a pool side bathroom. Not sure where the kids are going……? We didn’t go in any of the pools or use the slides. We returned to the Secrets side.

This is our third visit to this resort. The first was about 9 months after they opened (May 2022) and although we had a great time, it had some growing pains to work out. Because the resort was new, the vegetation had not grown and thus there was little separation between the family pools with children and the adult only pools on the ground floor. The food and service was good but we had issues in our room and there were problems with the infrastructure - leaking, cracking etc. The second visit was in Feb 2023 and many of the kinks had been worked out but the resort was understaffed and the staff seemed unhappy. Pool bar service, housekeeping, turn down, mini bar service etc was hit or miss.
This visit was great!
The positives - the staff were friendly and helpful. We were assigned a UVC Butler, Ines, and she checked in on us daily and was helpful when needed. We had housekeeping and turn down daily and the service at the pools (by Paty and Francisco) was amazing. We loved the food and enjoyed all the restaurants … Market Cafe for breakfast was great, Tacoyotl for tacos, Olio, and the Beach Club for lunch were all excellent. We ate dinner at most of the a la cartes and enjoyed all of them - Blue Water Grill, Portofino, Himitsu, Nebbiolo, Mezes and Bordeaux all were very good. Sadly, our food at Bordeaux, although tasty, was served lukewarm which made it our least favourite this trip. The addition of the water park and pools on the Dreams side along with the new Italian restaurant Nebbiolo is wonderful. The Preferred Lounge/Bar on the 6th floor was awesome … the bartenders (Omar, Pablo, Lupita and Morales) were wonderful and made really nice drinks.
The negatives - and they are minor - We had booked a King Panoramic View room as we have had that before and enjoyed looking out over the pools to the ocean. This time we were ‘upgraded’ to an ocean view room
which looked out over the bus entrance, a garbage area and over the jungle to the ocean. Although it was quieter, we did not like it as much. There is a non-smoking policy which is not enforced at times and we found that annoying - people were smoking cigars at the Barracuda Beach Bar area below the pool and it was blowing at us in the pool and occasionally people were smoking or vaping in the pools. Finally, there are dress codes posted on the website and at the restaurants but again, they are not enforced. The elevators are confusing as some only go to certain floors and as this is a large resort there is a lot of walking!
Overall, we had a super 7 days and would recommend this resort.

This was our 8th secrets resort. We're UVC members and used a free week to travel here. All we can say is wow. This resort has climbed into our top three. We had an absolutely wonderful stay.
The room was very nice. AC worked great. Nice shower. Big balcony with a plunge tub. Bed was comfy although my back is ready to go home.
The food here was the most consistently awesome of any resort we've been to. Of course not everything was a total banger of a dish but everything was good to great.
Our favorite dishes, chicken Milanese at nebiolo (more on this restaurant in a moment) was probably my favorite dish overall. But the meatball appetizer and the chef special gnocchi carbonara were also absolutely epic.
Other dishes that were noteworthy, fish tacos for lunch at olio. Carne asada burrito at the taqueria. The pad thai at himitsu. Beef Wellington at Bordeaux. And chicken with mozzarella and red wine sauce at portofino. See what I mean, great food everywhere.
Back to nebiolo. This is a newer restaurant and tucked off the to the side of the resort by the water park. It took some serious exploration to find it and we're glad we did! Hidden gem. It was by far our favorite. Gerardo was our waiter there and he was the best waiter we had all trip. Going back tonight for our last night on property and second night in a row.
This resort has incredible views from the rooftop pools. The service at the PC 8th floor rooftop pool was fantastic. Dario, Alejandro, and Julio were on top of their game! Amazing dudes.
We went in late February and the upper floors were awesome for whale watching. We saw dozens each day. It was so cool!
Couple things worth critiquing.
The pools were heated and probably didn't need to be heated that aggressively or at all. The upper level pools were all half depth pools. Nothing wrong with that, just an fyi.
This resort is large and it's tricky to navigate. Sometimes you can only take certain elevators to get to the floor you want. It's kind of confusing but once you get it after a day or two it's not awful.
Beach was ok. Rocky. They do the best they can but it's not Cancun or punta cana.
We'll absolutely be back. Thank you Bahia Mita team for an excellent vacation.

Let me begin by saying that we travel, at least, twice per year. We are partial to the Secrets brand and Dreams is our second choice. This was our first time at the resort. This resort is amazing. I cannot say enough good things about the way we were treated...
Let me begin by saying that we travel, at least, twice per year. We are partial to the Secrets brand and Dreams is our second choice. This was our first time at the resort.
This resort is amazing. I cannot say enough good things about the way we were treated and the food! This is a large resort and definitely requires walking. If that is something you have difficulty doing, this is not the resort for you.
The GOOD
- Resort is very well kept and immaculate
- The grounds are well maintained
- The housekeeping was absolutely stellar!
I need to recognize the following people, right off the bat:
- Ines, our UVC Butler. She was absolutely amazing and the most attentive we have ever experienced. She anticipated every need and was constantly checking in with us.
- Bartenders: Lupita in the preferred lounge 6th floor. My husband and I made sure to stop in every morning and see her smiling face. She anticipated our drink of choice instantly, and we loved talking with her. Our vodka, soda water & cucumber was waiting for us, the minute she saw us.
- 8th Floor Pool Service - Alejandro, Julio, Dario & Miguel - you guys are amazing. We were treated like family and my glass was never half full! You are true assets to the brand.
- 6th floor pool Service - My hat is off to Benito. Always a smile on your face and fantastic service.
- New Restaurant (Nibollio) - Rosa and Dara were such great staff members. The food here is amazing, and they were wonderfully attentive and remembered us from our first visit, night one.
- Blue Water Grill
Great place to eat. Food was great and service, again, fantastic. Juan & Ceasar took great care of us.
The food in every restaurant is top notch. You go expecting all-inclusive food, but this is different. Every detail is different, down to presentation, is the best I have had in all the resorts we have been to. And... we have been to many. Don't forget to get the coconut ice cream from the blue water (daytime). It was amazing.
The Bad
There are a few areas I believe could be improved; one they just cannot fix...that is the elevator situation. The elevators are a bit difficult to navigate, but if you take your first day and explore, you will find it makes sense in the end.
Entertainment
This one surprised me. I have never been to a Secrets that did not offer a nightly show. I know that some people do not enjoy the shows. We find it something to do in the evening. I feel that this can be improved on.
The shows, when they do have one, are on the Dreams side. It is quite a hike to get there. Pro Tip - go into the taxi area and ask for a golf cart to the Ampitheater.
Preferred Roof Top Pool or any pool for that matter...
No seat cushions, which was surprising for a Secrets. The chairs were definitely lacking in comfort. We did put that into our comments when we filled out our survey.
Lack of flowers & color - if you are looking for the beautiful colors and palm trees, this is very different. It is a lot of concrete. That said, it was still a great resort.
Beach - if you are a beach lover, this may not be your favorite place. It is very rocky and really most suitable for surfers.
Overall - fantastic resort and we had an amazing time. I would definitely repeat this one and that doesn't happen often! Happy Traveling.
