Excellent service at Tortuga from Jaz and Cruz! Always smiling and willing to get anything we requested. Food was amazing. Fresh and delicious. Can’t beat the view. Will go back every time! Norma & Gabriel at the pool were excellent too. Highly recommend. Thank you!!

It’s hard to believe that nearly 30 years have passed since I last visited Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. I’m thrilled to be back! After a quick 4.5-hour flight from Vancouver, we arrived at SJD airport where we were greeted by a private car service that whisked us away to our fabulous one-bedroom junior suite with an ocean view at Sandos Finisterra. It was absolutely perfect.
I’ve fallen in love with this resort! For years, my husband and I have frequented Cancun and the Riviera Maya, and while we’ve cherished every visit, this time felt refreshingly different. Typically, we find ourselves in large resorts bustling with activity, but there was something special about the intimate ambiance of Sandos Finisterra that allowed us to truly unwind.
Nestled just steps from the Marina, the resort offers easy access to everything you could desire. Although we didn’t indulge in the party scene, which Cabo is known for, we enjoyed embracing a more relaxed pace—turning in before 10 PM and waking up early to savor each day. After a few days of lounging by the pool and soaking up the sun, we strolled the marina for about an hour to reach Medano Beach, a public beach perfect for swimming and enjoying various activities, including massages. We settled at Sandbar, one of many lively beach clubs, where for $36 USD, we enjoyed an hour of relaxation on one of their many beds.
The atmosphere at Medano beach felt authentically Mexican, with locals strolling by selling trinkets and ice-cold beers.
For our return to the marina, we took a ferry for just $10 each—an absolute bargain after a day of sun and fun! The ferries run all day, making it easy to explore. If you prefer no long walks it’s $10 round trip per person. And you can take in the view of Cabo from the water.
The following day, we rented a car and drove to Todos Santos, a charming town about an hour from Cabo. It’s a delightful place with plenty to see and do, yet also offers a peaceful escape for those seeking tranquility. La Paz is on my radar for our next trip, although it’s a bit further away. (2 hour drive each direction)
A short 10 to 15-minute walk from our resort led us to a popular free hike offered daily at 8 AM (except Saturdays) on private property. This incredible hike attracts quite a crowd—on our visit, we saw about 200 people in line before the scheduled start time. It’s run by a dog rescue organization, and we enjoyed watching the dogs frolic and socialize with visitors. The views of the city from the top were breathtaking.
A little further down the path, we discovered a hidden public beach frequented by locals, perfect for sunrise. Here, we rented an umbrella, played in the ocean, and watched boats navigate the marina.
The warmth and friendliness of the people in Cabo truly stood out. From our drivers to the shopkeepers and vendors, I felt safe throughout our stay, even outside the resort after dark (aside from the typical pushy salespeople, which you find everywhere).
The service at Sandos was exceptional. From the welcoming front desk staff to the attentive room service, bartenders, and servers, everyone seemed genuinely happy to be there. The food exceeded my expectations for an all-inclusive resort. Our daily breakfast routine at Don Diego’s featured a delicious buffet, and I couldn’t resist the fresh omelets topped with pico de gallo and guacamole. We enjoyed our meals on the patio overlooking the marina, where we could watch dolphins performing their morning antics.
The pools at Sandos were ideal—one level offered a lively atmosphere with activities, while the adults-only pool featured a swim-up bar for those looking to socialize. For a quieter experience, we found serene spaces to relax or enjoy a good book.
We heard rave reviews about the shrimp tacos and ended up enjoying them every day for lunch! The sushi was fresh, and the wood-fired pizzas were delicious, even if they were a bit cheesy for my taste. In the evenings, we savored the beef tenderloin at the beach restaurant and relished the steakhouse’s Caesar salad and their outstanding onion soup. The catch of the day, Mahi Mahi, was cooked to perfection, and we were treated to a new fish each day, like seabass.
We loved the Whale Watchers pub, aptly named for its stunning views and happy hour cocktails before the 4:30 whale watching trips. The sight of whales breaching just 20 meters offshore was mesmerizing. We were treated to spectacular views of mothers and their calves preparing for their journey to Alaska, and I could hardly believe my luck watching these magnificent creatures from our beach every day.
While the resort's beach isn’t swimmable, it’s a short walk to the local public beach for a refreshing dip or over to Medano Beach for a bit more action. The scenery is breathtaking, and I could have easily spent my days basking in the warm breeze, listening to the soothing sound of waves crashing against the shore. The gentle rhythm of the ocean lulled me into a deep, restful sleep each night. Our room was a sanctuary—comfortable beds, wide sliding doors inviting fresh air, and an abundance of cozy pillows. Each morning, I woke up to the delightful sounds of waves and birds singing, filling my heart with joy before I even opened my eyes. It truly felt magical.
Every evening at 8:30, you can enjoy the resort's entertainment on the rooftop patio, which offered panoramic views of the entire city. The exception being Wednesdays White Party on the beach with an incredible fireshow and buffet dinner. The White Party is not to be missed!!
The vibrant nightly performances ranged from Michael Jackson tributes to '80s nights, sprinkled with a touch of Mexican flair. Each time I found myself up there, I was treated to a breathtaking fireworks display in the distance, making it feel like a personal gift just for me. The twinkling city lights, the starry sky, and the gentle moonlight created a romantic atmosphere that was simply unforgettable.
As my time in this hidden gem drew to a close, I found it hard to leave. Sandos Finisterra has captured my heart, and I know I will return. The combination of stunning views, welcoming people, delicious food, and the perfect balance of relaxation and adventure made this trip truly special.
Thank you, Sandos Finisterra, for a remarkable experience. I can’t wait to come back!
Thanks,

My wife and I had a great experience staying at the sandos finisterra resort. This was our first time in Cabo San lucas and would definitely consider staying at this resort again. Our room was large and beautiful view of the marina. The cleaning staff always did an excellent job keeping our room tidy and well stocked with clean towels. There was a good variety of restaurants, with agave being my favorite. It was always a pleasure having Benjamin as our waiter. The resort has 3 pools and plenty of shaded loungers available. I would rate my experience at sandos finisterra a 5 out of 5.

The couples massage was awesome. We were treated very well. I wasn’t expecting the treatment and service we received from Maria, Karina, Tavo, and Aivum. The locker room and sauna was great, also the massage time and experience was very soothing. Thanks for a wonderful and relaxing experience.
Georgina, Francisco, Lola and staff are all helpful and a pleasure to interact with. The facility was very clean and conveniently located. Best food was found at Don Diego, and the views from the veranda were absolutely stunning! Enjoyed the whale watchers lounge too. Definitely don’t pass up the spa!!

Tourtuga Beach Restaurant at Sandos Finisterra
My wife and i have been to Sandos Finestera a few times. Out favorite restaurant is Tortuga Beach Restaurant and the food was amazing. The only thing better wells the service from Jazmin and Georgina. They were both extremely attentive and had great suggestions.
Had a great time at Sandos Finisterra. We would switch our breakfast and dinner up daily but at lunch we always went to see Jazmin at Tortuga Beach. Jazmin gave us great food suggestions and always kept our drinks full. Resort is beautiful but the people keep us coming back.
One of our best visits to Finisterra.

The entrees with filet of beef were prepared perfectly. At lunchtime Jasmine was very friendly and attentive server. Hector served us at dinner and was literally reading my husband’s mind replacing his tequila before he had to ask. Very nice young man. Dinner was excellent. My Tortuga salad and fresh Mahi Mahi delicious. Overall food has improved significantly especially the beef dishes. Francisco in the lobby bar is a great bartender making a delicious dirty martini and keeping my husband happy with his favorite tequila.

Sandos Fiesterra is the BEST! We met 2 couples 3 years ago at the Barcelo and met them there again the following year. This year I suggested the Finesterra since it is our favorite resort and they agreed to give it a try. One of our friends had a medical emergency and the staff went above and beyond to help them anyway possible. HUGE shoutout to Alberto, the manager at Tortuga. He went out of his way to help our friends and even delivered their dinner to their room. He is amazing! Also, I have to give a huge shout out to Norma, the best server at the pool area. She is definitely top of her game and always with a smile on her face. I would say the only not top notch was food was never hot. If they can fix that 10 out of 10! I look forward to returning next year and years to come.

Room and views were beautiful. Unfortunately the food was really really bad. It was terrible at all of the restaurants associated with the resort. It was bland, not seasoned, not well-cooked, seemed mass produced, often cold, and on two occasions, we found hairs in the food. Luckily the resort was so reasonably priced that we could go into town and eat elsewhere and find wonderful food and still had the ability to do that without spending too much money total. Also be aware that the pools are not heated so they are cold AF even when it is hot outside.

If/when we make it back to Cabo we will totally be staying there again. I’d also like to give big props to David our concierge…he helped me set up flowers, champagne and a romantic room for our arrival. It was beautiful and he was very helpful during our stay. He really went above and beyond. Iris also took wonderful care of us and our room. We hope to return <3

We stayed here as a couple for 4 nights and upgraded to the Finisterra suites to get a newer room. This also gives access to the VIP pool. Our stay is average with some poor customer experience. We did get great service from a few employees and some who were just awful.
Good:
1. Check-in was a breeze and asked us for a welcome drink - cocktail or beer.
2. Bellhops were amazing! Super nice and got our car pulled up in minutes.
3. Waiter in Tortuga for dinner was awesome. We caught some fish and they cooked it for us into some delicious sashimi, ceviche and grilled dishes. They even reserved a table for us.
4. Staff at the cafe were super nice.
5. The VIP pool was really fun, the bartender was friendly and made delicious drinks. It’s a great spot to meet the other guests.
Bad:
1. The toiletries in the bathroom for an upgraded room are abysmal. The hand and body gel was disgusting and I had to buy soap.
2. Our maid didn’t refill our gel when we checked in which was fine since it was disgusting anyway. Room was clean everyday except the maid left her trash in our bin - totally not ok!
3. Room service is not 24 hours like they said - it’s only until 6am. And then you order from the breakfast menu. The selections were minimal and food quality not great. The only thing we can eat was the shrimp wrap.
4. Breakfast was not great. We’ve had way better buffet breakfast at other all inclusives in Cabo
5. Laundry service - the guy who picked up our clothes didn’t understand any english at all. I asked a question about the form and just shrugged his shoulders at me. Very frustrating.
6. There’s no water you can get nor coffee in the lobby. There is a coffee machine by the bar at the plaza. If you’re going to an excursion and need bottled water, just head to a grocery or gas station to get waters.
7. Overall food was extremely salty. We had better good outside the resort
8. When you check in, someone will try to sell you a presentation to save money on something. Don’t do it!! You will be stuck on your vacation for the whole day even if they tell you it’s only an hour. Total ripoff
