Ocean Maya Royale

Good resort, wasn't overly busy when we went. Food was decent, drinks were good. The Privilege package was definitely worth it. Our pool waiter, Jesus, was awesome, very friendly and checked in often. All the staff were super friendly, and remembered our drink orders. Only cons of the experience was an excursion arranged through the hotel to Isla Mujeres, which was a lot longer and busier than advertised (still enjoyable, but not quite what we expected) and some of the staff were confused by my wife's gluten allergy. Overall, great resort especially if you can get it on a deal.

We absolutely loved this resort! Second time here in 10 months. All of the staff were amazing, and the atmosphere was incredibly relaxing. It’s definitely not a party scene, which made it perfect for a peaceful getaway. Since it’s a smaller resort, the personalized service really stood out. Jesus at the pool was wonderful and always made sure we had our drinks, Isla at the restaurant remembered our favorite drinks and food, and David, our butler, took care of all our reservations for the spa and dinners. Their attention to detail and genuine hospitality made our stay so special. We highly recommend this resort if you’re looking to unwind, relax by the pool or ocean, and enjoy exceptional personalized service!. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and impeccably maintained by the staff. The resort is also in the process of adding some exciting upgrades, including rooms with their own private pools, which will be an amazing addition! Can’t beat the price for a week in paradise.

This was my first time in an all inclusive hotel and it checked all the boxes for my girlfriend and I. As soon as you walk in they take care of you, shoutout Daniel at the front desk for a smooth check in and the the recommendations he gave us! I’ve met really nice people on my stay there. Please go visit Oscar and Manuel at the sports bar they don't close until 6am!! Everything is super clean and house-keeping service was on point. All of our requests were solved quick nothing was delayed or forgotten. When we decided to explore out of the resort our taxi driver Daniel took us to playa del Carmen and picked us up whatever time we wanted. Huge shoutout to him for being so nice. I highly recommend staying here we had a wonderful stay and we will be back.

Great experience, shout out to Brayan and his colleague in Dolce Vita who gave us the best meal experience of the entire holiday! Service was incredible. We visited a few hotels in Mexico on our travels and our stay at Maya Royale was by far the best one, with brilliant staff, food that was a cut above the other restaurants and they actually cleared the sargassum every day despite it sometimes being extremely heavy, meaning we got to walk on the beach and even swim in the sea at the resort for a number of days, despite not having a chance to at other hotels due to the amount of sargassum this season. The wildlife and the baby coaties were also so cute and amazing to see!

We have just returned from a fantastic stay and had a wonderful holiday. There are so many positives that far outweighed the few areas where I think the hotel could make some improvements. The biggest strength of this hotel is undoubtedly the staff. Every member of the team we encountered was friendly, welcoming and genuinely wanted to make our stay special. The service was consistently excellent throughout our holiday. Particular thanks go to Erick and Bryan at the Japanese restaurant, who made our visit enjoyable, Juan our butler who was incredibly helpful, Jesus by the pool who always looked after guests with a smile, and Ilsa in the Privilege team, who was brilliant throughout our stay. They are a credit to the hotel. I would definitely recommend upgrading to Privilege, particularly if you are travelling during a busy period. Being able to book the restaurants more easily made a real difference, and having access to the dedicated facilities was well worth it. The hotel offers a great choice of pools, whether you want a lively atmosphere with entertainment or somewhere much quieter to relax. We also discovered the Mayan Lounge, which was a lovely peaceful area to sit outside away from the crowds. The wildlife around the resort was one of the highlights of our holiday. We saw coatis, including adorable babies, agoutis, deer and a wonderful variety of birds. If you enjoy nature, you’ll love wandering around the grounds. There was an excellent range of complimentary daytime activities, so there was always something to do if you wanted to get involved. One experience not to miss is the Mayan Dinner. It was one of the highlights of our stay, with fantastic food, entertainment and atmosphere. The food across the resort was excellent. There was plenty of choice, the quality was consistently high, and as a vegetarian I was impressed with the variety available. The whole hotel was also spotlessly clean, creating a really pleasant environment throughout our stay. There are a few areas where the hotel could improve. The Privilege pool could benefit from more sunbeds without having to use the sandy area. On a couple of mornings, even around 10.00 am, towels had still not been placed on many loungers, which delayed people settling in. It would also help if access to the Privilege area was monitored more closely, as we did see non Privilege guests using the facilities. Like much of this coastline, there was significant sargassum during our visit. The hotel worked incredibly hard to clear it and this is clearly beyond their control, but guests should be aware that it can affect the beach and there can occasionally be an unpleasant smell. The beaches themselves were not the best we’ve visited in Mexico, so if your priority is spending lots of time on the beach, you may want to explore some of the nearby beaches instead. I would also love to see the hotel improve its recycling efforts, and clearer buffet labelling, particularly for vegetarian dishes, would make choosing food much easier. Overall, we had a fantastic holiday. The outstanding staff, excellent food, beautiful grounds, wildlife and relaxed atmosphere made this a memorable stay, and we would happily return.
