Wow, from the welcome to the goodbyes with Zee, we enjoyed every moment here. The Pineapple cottage was amazing! Loved the view. We loved taking out one of the complimentary kayaks. We hope to return soon and will recommend to all our friends.

First time staying at this slice of Heaven and didn’t want to leave! We have been to the Keys multiple times but usually stay in the middle keys are further south. This time we just wanted to get away from Chicagoland cold! After researching a bunch of resorts and various keys the 5 star rating here really stood out. It is a small resort with a sun deck and sunset viewing deck. They have a pool, hot tub and even kayaks and other things. You can be as active or as relaxed as you choose. Bottom line; you will see what looks like rake marks in the sand areas BUT I believe these are actually the finger nail prints of those that are leaving and they have to be dragged out! It’s that nice.

Great experience at the property. It’s truly like your own slice of paradise. Grounds and pool area are so scenic. Key Lime Room was clean and spacious. We loved the kayaks! Would definitely stay here again to enjoy a few days of tropical paradise.

This is our To Go relaxation escape for the winter weather in January, and we're Florida residents! Comfortable cottages, white sand beach, heated pool & hot tub, and rated at the top is watching the sunsets from their beach! Paradise three years in a row.

Our new favorite place ! The resort is well located, quiet and relaxing. The grounds are gorgeous. The pool is warm with plenty of places to sit. The dock is perfect for watching the sunset. Our room was quite large - including a full kitchen! The bed was comfortable, the bathroom spotlessly clean. The art gallery was full of beautiful works. And, the resort personnel were top notch! We cannot wait to go again - and have already made new reservations!

Just finished a three night stay here and it was fantastic. The grounds are gorgeous and the beach/pool area were great to take in views of the water. We couldn’t believe how quiet the place is. The room is small and doesn’t have all of the amenities of a nice hotel but at least had everything we needed. The service was fantastic - you get a personal tour upon welcome. We took out a couple of stand up paddle boards one morning - very fun to get out onto the water. We would definitely stay here again - no hesitation.

Kona Kai is a fabulous adults retreat that provides excellent service, peaceful surroundings, and awesome recommendations for dining, boating, snorkeling, and diving. Zee was so helpful in recommending and booking our excursions, dinners, and helping us with everything we needed. She even managed to get us several last minute bookings for New Year's Eve and for a snorkel/dive trip our first day. Her recommendation of Edelweiss and Captain Pascale for private charters led to the most memorable vacation and experiences we have ever had! By connecting us with Pascale and several other locals, we felt completely included in the Key Largo/Islamorada community and not at all like tourists. Zee made us feel like we were at home, very welcome, and one with the whole environment. The property is well maintained, clean, calm, and beautiful with flora and fauna living in perfect harmony with the guests. I highly recommend Kona Kai for a relaxing, interesting, enjoyable, and memorable couples/adults vacation and can't wait to return!

Kona Kai is top notch! It clearly cares about its service standards and guests. We had a very peaceful, refreshing stay. The amenities were pristine and the views spectacular. The staff was lovely and always helpful. We would definitely visit again.

Kona Kai is a stunning hotel . The grounds are full of flowers , palm trees and the smell of salt air . Everything here is beautifully kept . We have been here 3 times and enjoyed everything that they offered . We intend to return as long as we can travel . The rooms are very all updated and very comfortable , the staff treat you like family and their main goal is your enjoyment. We have bragged about it to our friends and family who have also come back several times , what’s not to love it’s like being in heaven !

Kona Kai on Key Largo is a favorite of ours, with stays since 2008. Our first post-pandemic stay did not find much changed. The staff is capable and friendly. Kathryn was hugely helpful when a medical emergency developed after hours. Thank you! We booked the Fig Room, which may not previously have been available because it was where the innkeeper stayed. Converted for guests, it has plenty of space, with big kitchen, living room, bedroom and bathroom. There is a nice patio off the front door. While we love this small resort for many of the reasons others cite, the question of whether this big Fig suite is right for you may pivot on the front gate, which leads from the private patio to the resort pool. The upside is that you have the unit closest to the pool; the downside is that the only way to get to/from your patio and front door is by walking around the pool, hot tub and chair set-up. At least one pool guest in our two days approached our patio, probably believing it to be on the way to a poolside restroom. That gate might benefit from an inside latch.

We enjoyed long kayak (provided) trips and actually spent an hour trailing a manatee at a nearby canal/marina. Grounds were superbly kept, staff was fantastic. Better than Aruba! This is a new favorite.

Kona Kai was an extraordinary place to stay and I can’t wait to stay there again soon. My husband and I enjoyed everything about the resort. It is a small place but has everything you need. The rooms were clean and had updated bathrooms and a cute kitchenette and a really comfortable bed. The grounds were well kept and the view can’t be beat and the sunsets are a must. The pool was heated and clean and there was plenty of chairs around the pool and on the peninsula/beach area. It is close to many good restaurants. We will be back for sure!

Our only mistake was not staying longer! The small resort is nestled off a busy highway and as we walked through the small gated entrance, it reminded me of the secret garden. The beautiful flowers and trees set the stage to a warm and welcoming host that gave us a brief tour and got us settled. The view from the small beach front was stunning. There are paddle boards and kayaks to use on the calm water. The room was just enough for what we needed with a comfortable bed and nicely appointed shower. Note that this is an adult only resort but the very next resort has lots of kids ( you can see and hear them).

Unique, quiet piece of paradise. Not only are there choices for accommodations, the setting is perfect for daytime lounging in the sun or shade of tiki huts or palm trees or sunsets later in the day. The Keys are not know for their beaches, but there’s a nice, little beach...

Unique, quiet piece of paradise. Not only are there choices for accommodations, the setting is perfect for daytime lounging in the sun or shade of tiki huts or palm trees or sunsets later in the day. The Keys are not know for their beaches, but there’s a nice, little beach here. In addition to all, the staff is superior. It’s a well oiled “machine”! Starting with manager Kathryn who wants to do anything to make your stay how guests want it to be. Zee is so sweet too, willing to make you Mr stay special. Tanya seems to really know plants & cares about the gardens. Kona Kai is VERY fortunate to have Illiana, Maria, & Emelia for maintaining the “bungalows”. Everything is kept pristine & they work around guest’s schedules, never interfering with our timing. This year was a challenging experience for guests & staff with the Everglades fires, but they put us at ease & the staff rallied to fill in where needed with a smooth transition. The men who worked the grounds also did a great job cleaning the outside & kept garbage cleaned out. Equipment for use (kayaks, stand up boards, ping pong, bags, pickle ball, shuffleboard)…all available & in good shape. Yoga with yoga master, & sweet Lacey, is an added bonus. Kai is a favorite destination. They make us feel like family…they treat us like family. See you next year Kona Kai staff!

Everything was very well done. I appreciated the emphasis on the details: beach/pool towels, filtered water, kayaks and paddle boards well maintained, plenty of beach and deck space to read or soak up the sun. Clean, neat and perfect for relaxing. The iguanas were friendly too!
