I was a little concerned after reading a few negative posts. What i will say was it was perfect, yeah you can always pick a few little things but in general it was a great holiday in a lovely place with great staff and food. The room was nice, nothing fancy just nice. All staff members were there to give you a great holiday, lovely people. Food was very nice, ate mostly in the buffet which was real good. Ate in restaurant 1 night, wasnt great to be honest, only allowed 1 side order which was rediculous when you consider the amount of food in the buffet. Entertainment was OK, always something going on, we were in the Palace, most big shows were in Reggae or Montego bay as they had big stages. Shows were very good, alot of effort was put into them by the crew and it showed. Little disappointing that even though we were from Palace, the range of drinks like Jack Daniels was not available in Montego bay bar for people who came from the Palace. In Reggae, at the bar they do not seem to give out straws for the cocktails like they do in the Palace, small item but niggles a little bit. Never touched the alcohol in the room but it was available, fridge stocked with beer as well as whiskey, Rum, gin and vodka on optics. Room service came round every day. Would definitely return.

We are here now. This is not the level of other Riu palaces. I will give the compliments due. The staff is very nice. They removed you and say hello. The property is clean and servers have been great.shout out to: Joan, Vanessa, Haney and Keymorah (I may have misspelled her name). Now…. Things that have gone wrong…. Check in was 45 minute or longer…. Don’t know if it was an hour…. Close. Our door lock has been broken twice. The first time we waited sitting in the hall floor for 30 minutes until I went back to the desk and waited there for help. Room 3030. Then next time is wasn’t quite so long. First time they said battery issue. Second time… code error. Sad to sit in a hall for hours. Next the wrong remote for the tv. Completely wrong type of remote. Ok. Sunday, last night, tried to make dinner reservations….. NONE. Not one is available while we are here!!!!!! That is crazy!!!!! My birthday was acknowledged, a day after. I doubt we e would return and it’s only day 3.

We enjoyed the property. We felt that what we paid for met expectations. RIU is a brand we trust and are loyal to. 4.5 of 5.

We returned home yesterday evening and we're missing beautiful Jamaica already! Airport transfer to and from the Riu Palace was easy because we signed up when we reserved the room. Check-in was a breeze with Lewis. Lewis is so AMAZING, kind, patient, and so helpful. He helped me book reservations(I couldn't figure it out on the app). Lewis also helped me book dinner on the beach for my hubby's birthday. Our room 1056 was cute, a little dated. Wish there was a better lighting over the sink(I struggled putting my contacts in). We didn't use the tub. The shower drain was slow but they fixed it upon our request. I have to be honest... Our third day, we walked in and saw a roach crawling from under the mini fridge. Staff sprayed our room and we didn't see anymore. Our mini fridge was always stocked(we only drank the water and tried a beer). Housekeeping was always on point and so kind. Because we arrived on Wednesday(Ash Wednesday), housekeeping left beautiful scriptures after she serviced our room (We kept them and will put it in our vacation keepsake binder). Oh and I can't forget the cute birthday gift and card from the hotel. Made my hubby smile (thank you Riu). Now for the entertainment. Bravo and Dinero was truly a VIBE!!! They always did their thing!!! The dj's kept me dancing and singing while in the pool. Gabby and Steph(I think her name is Steph) had me asking what exercises they do because their legs are AMAZING!!! The beautiful ladies can dance their tails off. I was trying to keep up but eventually gave up and enjoyed the view, lol. Jimmy Genius for the noon water aerobics had us moving-moving. Jimmy is no joke, hahahaha. We enjoyed him. I made sure to be in the pool every day for water aerobics. His legs and arms told us that he works out! Winston at the pool bar is amazing too! The staff who walked by always asked if we needed anything. The pool activities and games were so fun. Food/Buffet We always sat at Priscilla's(I think that's her name, we called her Princess) table in the mornings, She's so sweet and beautiful. Dr. Phil is so silly and sweet. Food was good. Juices were fresh. Fruit was delicious. The staff patience is remarkable. We witnessed some "entitlement" and they handled it with grace. They sang happy birthday too. The chef's are too kind, they walked around asking if we're okay, how we're feeling, etc. Two even sang happy birthday (there were so many ppl celebrating their birthdays). We walked to the other two Riu's MoBay and Reggae and enjoyed the vibes. The all white party was fun. Now for the not so nice part... We witnessed a Hispanic lady(I'm assuming she's part management) being condescending and rude to one of the grounds keepers. We heard her say something about a hole in the grass. Uuum, lady, the hole you complained about was NOT the grounds keeper fault. And if it was,speak to ppl with some respect. The grounds/scenery was maintained VERY WELL! My other complaint is (no fault towards the staff) is ppl need to stop with the entitlement bull crap! You're in THEIR COUNTRY, have some respect! We were sitting by the pool in the cabana and a couple from the "elite" tried the entitlement bull crap by moving some one's towels because, "We're elite and was told we have access to everything". I'm not going to say his name but he/staff remained calm and was explaining the lounges were first come... The "elite" guy started to become upset while belittling the young man/staff. My husband and I stepped in because we had enough of him and his sun burned wife being rude. They felt the rules didn't apply to them. I grabbed the staff hand and walked him to a different side of the pool. He did NOT deserve to be treated or spoken to like that. I truly hope the "entitled" couple didn't lie and complain about the staff because we witnessed the entire thing. Riu,if you have questions, you can call me. My room number was 1056, my contact information is listed in the booking section. Oh, and I love the way the staff allows the two cats to roam the resort(outside). The cute kitties were showed so much love. They/kitties were/are so friendly and they have boundaries too, lol. Riu Palace please let ALL your staff know that they're amazing, they're doing a wonderful job, they're appreciated and without them there's no RIU!

Absolutely loved this hotel, very clean and well maintained, delicious food with excellent choices to suit every taste. From checking in to check out we received nothing but first class service. Every member of staff are a credit to Riu. These are the ones who made our holiday extra special: Whitney, Kimoya, Odain, AlexV, Kemesha and Kayann all serve in the aqua bar. They make sure you’re never thirsty and are always happy to see you. Prissy, Dr Phill and Ryan served breakfast and lunch with a smile and a song at the buffet. Linton from the steakhouse made sure we were looked after. Jevour (apologies if I spelt it wrong) arranged our fabulous romantic beach dinner. It was definitely worth paying extra for. Caustant looked after us at the Italian and what a voice! Ronaldo’s service and dance moves at the Hanover bar kept us smiling. Finally the entertainment team, their enthusiasm is contagious. I have never experienced entertainment like this at any other hotel, they are all excellent. Would definitely recommend and would love to return. P.S the steel band on Thursday nights are phenomenal.

This was my first time at a Riu. I usually book Secrets when I do a Caribbean beach vacation and have also stayed at a Dreams and Melia. Check in was smooth. We got our rooms right away which was great and offered champagne. Staff were super friendly and overall no complaints. We asked about Elite, he explained the hotel was full our first 2 night but that he could get us in on night 3 potentially. Lobby is smaller than most but this is also a smaller hotel. It is dated and in need of major renos. Room: great size open concept style. Not ideal for families and the bathroom opens into the bedroom. Again- extremely dated with furniture falling apart. I do think they could update the furniture as a quick win until they can renovate. Basic liquor in this room - not my type. Smirnoffs is your vodka, a local unknown rum, johnny red and gordons gin. Fridge is stocked with redstripe, water and pop. Elite club upgrades it to Tito’s Worthy Park, Johnny Black and Bombay. I was all over the WP and Titos! The bed is fine- ignore others that say its hard as a rock. Food: Krystal and the buffet were absolutely phenomenal. We personally did not like Zen but that’s our taste. The lobster at the steakhouse was my husband’s favourite. The Elite restaurant was equally good and I recommend trying the lamb and creamed spinach! I thought the jerk chicken at the palace lunch buffet was outstanding. I preferred it to the jerk hut at montego bay and reggae. My ranking is: Palace Reggae Montego bay Overall we found the buffet to be extremely good and side variety. We eventually got upgraded to elite oceanfront. Same room but better views and liquor! I do love that in Elite - the towel rules are not so rigid. Read below in my cons section about my issues with this policy! Entertainment: Excellent each and every time. I loved the entertainment staff- they were just amazing. DJ Unstoppable was phenomenal and should train the other dj’s at the Montego Bay resort! He knew how to keep the beats going. Bubbles had the voice on an angel and should be on a radio! String bean, Astro, Genius and Deniro all rocked it. Drinks: a good selection of cocktails. Some were too sweet but you can ask them to modify it. They do use basic liquor so ask them to upgrade the vodka to Titos or rum to Worthy Park or Wray & Nephew. No drink was too much for them. Phenomenal espresso martinis. Winston at the pool bar and oral were my favs for the energy they brought. The best part of this vacation- the cats!!! I befriended the cutest ginger cat on this resort. He was friendly and cuddly. Cons: Towels- I am all about eco friendly. I recycle, reduce washes etc. However, at a beach resort that is classified as 5 star - I should be allowed to switch my wet towel for a dry one. They have a rule that its 1 towels per person per day. This is unacceptable to me. Its hard enough that they only provide one - so lying down on a chair- you can’t cover it but once its wet - to be forced to lie on a wet towel or reuse a wet towel- not cool. Once we upgraded to Elite- they allowed towel exchanges but you should not have to oay extra to get this basic right. The Palace is already top tier of the 3 resorts. Age- not a big deal but the property needs significant renovations and new furniture. It just looks super old and again as top tier- it needs to maintain a certain standard. Overall this was a very good holiday. I did notice certain staff members were not as nice to the stray cats so I do hope they improve that. I recommend this place if you are looking for a stress free, fun, vibrant yet can be quiet property with good food and drinks.

We arrived at the hotel with the warmest of welcomes and sorted out with our room straight away. The room was big , clean and comfortable. The restaurants are good and easy to book on the Riu app. Around the pools there are plenty of sun beds or on the beach. The entertainment staff work very hard to please everyone and are always ready for a chat. The drinks are always flowing with the waitresses and waiters keeping you topped up and not forgetting Archer in the lobby bar making the best cocktails using all the top brands. Anyone who doesn’t like it here probably won’t like it anywhere, there is nothing to complain about unless you are just fussy and like to complain. We would definitely return again and we would recommended this hotel to anyone.

Please I beg you if you are looking for somewhere to stay in Jamaica, stay at the Riu Palace in Montego Bay! It was absolute bliss from start to finish. The place is spotless and nothing is too much trouble. Drinks are brought to your sunlounger, your drinks are topped up with your meals, the meal timings are perfect, giving you a lengthy time to go. The grounds are beautiful with white sands and palm trees! The food is unreal! The staff are so friendly and everything is just a vibe! Also, have to mention the entertainment team! Those guys work some long hours and never stop smiling! You have use of the hotels either side with good music all the time but then come back to palace at night for a bit more chilled out time! 10/10 you will not be disappointed!!!

First off I want to give a big thanks to all of the staff. Everyone was pleasant and constantly asked us what we needed. I planned on proposing to my girlfriend on my trip and I have to shout out the front desk and specifically Lewis, who was exceptional. Lewis went above and beyond, answering my texts both on and off the clock to facilitate my proposal. It was truly a once in a lifetime experience, my fiancée was ecstatic… The hotel was very nice. We had a courtyard view which was perpendicular to the ocean. You could also see the ocean if you went out onto the balcony. The room itself could use an upgrade, as it was a little outdated. However it did have a bathtub and 2 shower heads. You could fit 2 comfortably in the shower and bathtub. House keeping was friendly, and did an excellent job cleaning daily! The food was the best I’ve had for an all inclusive. Granted, I’ve been to only DR and Mexico all-inclusive’s but it was enjoyable. The buffet is a little above average. I recommend the jerk chicken! The pizza actually wasn’t half bad (New Yorker). The dinners were good. Give them 4-4.5/5 stars. They have various restaurants (Italian, Asian, Steakhouse). Make reservations asap on the app upon arrival. The entertainment was great. They made each day at the pool a fun experience! Shout out Deniro, Genius, DJ Unstoppable, Astro, super Sayian and String bean. Also shoutout to our bartender Winston, and other staff who helped facilitate our proposal, Sheldon and Johneve! Finally, overall the resort was a great mix of relaxation and fun. It was enjoyable to stay in Montego Bay ! We would definitely come back

Riu Palace was just what we were looking for! Like all RIUs, you get a lot of value for your money. People who leave bad reviews seem to think that this is the Ritz Carlton. If you like to relax and have fun without any pretentious vibes, this is the place. It is not as big as the Palace Las Americas in Cancun, but I liked it because it was less overwhelming. The grounds are well kept and someone is always cleaning something somewhere. They staff in the lobby are very helpful and are eager to make your stay as relaxing as possible. We originally booked an Elite room, but at the last minute the hotel downgraded us due to availability. I was a little worried about what we would get, but the regular room turned out to be great and way cheaper with a good view. It turns out that the Elite Club really didn't offer much room wise except for a bottle of typical sparkling wine and better brands of booze in the dispensers. That wasn't important to us since we always stop at Duty Free and get bottles of what we like. The food was really good - it's a big buffet and there is something for everyone and a lot of options. We were never hungry after meals and had no desire to order room service or find something off the property. I would say to maybe skip the reservation only restaurants if you're a big eater. We went to the Asian one and there you can only order 3 items each. Our food tasted great, but the portions were small, so we still went next door to the buffet for some other things. Now - the alcohol. Look, for an mid range all inclusive, I was very impressed to see typical brands like Titos and Makers at the different bars. Your higher ends resorts like Breathless only offer those brands to select guests who pay for the premium status, and even with that, you have to go to a specific bar for that. Here, the drinks were great everywhere - from the pool to the lobby bar. They have a big menu but you can also ask for anything and it can be made. For the pools - I can't say much since we went next door to the swim up pool at Montego Bay everyday. At Palace, the two pools are small, but well kept with plenty of chairs. Our first day we hung out at the pool bar there and it was nice but pretty quiet. We ended up spending everyday at the Montego Bay pool. We were looking for a party and we found it there! The drinks flow, music is going and everyone is just having a TIME! We love daytime parties so this was perfect for us. I will say that it was nice to go back to the Palace each night for a quiet dinner and drinks after our days of fun next door. Service is second to none. The staff goes out of their way to make you feel like you're home. They always ask how your stay is going and offer help with anything you need. I look forward to going back to connect with them again. Definitely look for Biggie Don at the Dinner Buffet - every night, she welcomed us with a hug and our usual drinks. On our last night, she gave us Jamaican keepsakes. We will see you again soon BIGGIE! Be sure to look for Dr Phil and his crew at the Breakfast Buffet - this group is incredible and make every effort for you to enjoy your meal. Phil could tell we work out and when we told him the hotel gym was subpar, he put us on to a local gym a few minutes away. It did not disappoint! We loved talking about fitness with him everyday - it was like talking to a friend from home. A few tips: Stop at Duty Free for a few bottles of what you drink if you like a morning bev like a Bloody Mary or Tequila Sunrise. The bars open at 10. If you need coffee before 7am, bring your own single serve coffee machine with those shelf stable half and half cups. The room coffee isn't good and the restaurant doesn't open until 7am. If you are serious about the gym and love the old school gym vibe of the late 70s/80s, get a taxi and go to Champions Image Gym on Federal Avenue. A day pass is $6, the guy who runs it doesn't talk, but they have everything you need for a great workout. TIP THE STAFF! People will argue with me and say gratuities are included in the price, but that means nothing when you see how hard everyone works and tries to cater to everyone. And yes, you will get better service because your tip shows appreciation for the extra effort. (But please don't wave a dollar around when your looking for a drink and act like the staff should kiss your hand for your big buck - that's just insulting). After a good number of trips to high end and mid range resorts, this is absolutely our return spot! We left so happy and can't wait to get back!

Our maid was lovely did everything with a personal touch from drinks just past reception on cart exceptional we booked Krystal the food was amazing also steakhouse ,we did a trip out to Bamboo rafting and would recommend . The white party was fun but very hot also the foam party wow never to old to have fun . My only criticism is just a shame management wasn't more hands on and approachable but the staff made our holiday .. thank you great

Trying to eat your tea on a night well you couldn’t hear your partner speaking cos of the adolescence lads and lasses, our last night there was a gang of lads so loud in the end I reported them they were so loud. Nothing really done by security, and than one lad walking round hotel on a night carrying a getto blaster really, we were going to go back next year but this year has put us of we don’t go to a lovely adults only hotel to listen to American adolescent lads and lasses, I will also be reporting it to tui who we booked with,
