This was our 7th visit to Bermuda, and once again, Coco Reef Resort has proven to be our perfect home away from home. Having stayed here the last six times, we continue to be blown away by their exceptional customer service and warm hospitality.
Both my wife and I are foodies, drawn to the island for the Chubb Bermuda Triangle Challenge race weekend, which gives us the perfect excuse to indulge in Bermuda’s culinary delights. During our week-long stay, we explore the incredible restaurants the island has to offer. However, my wife, being vegan, often finds herself limited to berries or sorbet when it comes to dessert, even at the finest dining establishments.
Imagine our surprise when Coco Reef Resort’s front desk called to inform us they had prepared a special vegan dessert just for her—and for me too! This thoughtful gesture left us utterly amazed. It's this kind of personalized service that keeps us coming back.
Coco Reef Resort offers more than just impeccable service. The breathtaking beach, spectacular views, and the most comfortable rooms create a serene escape. The location is perfect, placing us in the heart of all the island’s hotspots and culinary treasures.
The staff here have truly become like family to us, and it’s largely due to Coco Reef Resort’s world-class experience that we fell in love with Bermuda. Coming from someone with over 30 years in the restaurant and hospitality industry, I can confidently say that a stay at Coco Reef Resort should be a priority for anyone visiting Bermuda.
Hats off to the team at Coco Reef Resort. We’re already looking forward to our next visit, and, God willing, at least another ten after that!

The stay was great. The resort was clean and with great ocean views. The issues I had were that the ocean currents were very strong and there wasn’t any signs at the resort warning beachgoers. That’s the least they could’ve done. I was seriously injured by the currents. Another issue is that I accidentally left three items of clothing after my freak accident. We’ve been on contact with staff who confirmed that the items were found. We have been told that the items would be shipped, yet it hasn’t happened. There has been no follow up and we’re being ignored. We have no issue paying for the shipping. I wish someone from management would contact us, but it hasn’t happened.

This is our second visit here. Same time of year both times. 6 years ago it felt OK, not top notch but definitely a great getaway. This time, much has changed. They have indeed “renovated” the rooms. I use that term loosely. It’s more of updating. The wicker furniture and grandmas bedspreads are gone. New floors and updated bathrooms are installed. However, it was clearly a quick and untidy redo. There is excess grout stuck on the bathroom tiles, paint on the new floors from when the trim was painted and the balconies have the same old basic plastic chairs and tables. If I hired someone to renovate my home, I would never have signed off on this quality of work. The mesh beach chairs are old, gross, moldy and exactly the same ones from 6 years ago. So gross that we only used the pool chairs as they are the plastic strap type, so no mold or icky feeling. The balcony views are great and probably what people book for. While an ice bucket is provided in room, you must trek up to the bar for ice. There are no ice machines. If you’ve stayed at any resort in Bermuda, you know that’s not always simple. The pool is not clean, the same caterpillars were floating day one and day three not to mention the birds swimming in the fountain. All that being said the housekeeping staff, especially Trish, have been amazing! We are NOT high maintenance people and definitely made the most of it and enjoyed our stay. It’s just sad to see the place falling apart. It’s in much need of some TLC. If it doesn’t get that, it will probably end up like its neighbor, The Elbow Beach Hotel, sadly abandoned except for a couple,of restaurants. Other than our room attendant Trish, all of our services left much to be desired. Two hours later we’re still waiting on our call for additional towels…

My husband and I spent 5 nights at Coco Reef & Resort at the end of August. Before arriving, I had read some mixed reviews. Now I understand why some guests were disappointed. For us, the overall experience was a good one. I’d go back, but I would hesitate to recommend it highly.
The beach is beautiful. Coco Reef benefits from the much larger hotel next door (the old Elbow Beach Hotel) being closed. You have a large stretch of beach to relax, swim, and walk along.
The staff was wonderful—hard-working, kind, and helpful. Our room was one of the nicely redecorated ones with a beautiful view. The bed was very comfortable. The AC was very loud but worked in my favor, as it drowned out my husband’s snoring.
Some negative aspects we experienced include a huge leak from the overhead AC upon entering. The front desk sent someone to repair it right away and eventually comped us dinner for the inconvenience. However, messages were not relayed to the main manager, and the dinner was reflected on our bill at checkout. This was cleared up within a few minutes but was an example of communication errors.
Since the beach is the best aspect of the hotel, they could improve the guest experience there. Every single day, they ran out of towels, and it was inconvenient to have to go all the way to the lobby to fetch them. They lock the towels in a back office, and you have to wait until the front desk is available to help you. An easy fix would be to order more towels and place them in guest rooms or near the entryway to the beach or pool. As a beachfront hotel, this is a basic standard you must meet, or you will frustrate guests. Additionally, there was no staff presence on the beach—no one offering water, cleaning up bird droppings on lounge chairs, or replacing knocked-over umbrellas.
The hotel is not for someone looking for nightlife. We were told by the bartender that the bar closes at 10 p.m. On our last night, we wanted a nightcap after returning from dinner. It was 9:45 p.m., and the same bartender told us it was shut down, which was annoying as we really wanted to sit on the terrace and enjoy one last drink on our vacation.
The hotel could also upgrade its dining/food services. The atmosphere lacks liveliness. Guests would benefit from an area that sells sodas and snacks for the beach. I’d suggest packing lots of snacks or going to the supermarket, which is about ten minutes away. They provide two small water bottles for free on first day only. There is a mini fridge which was useful.
A minor note: our bathroom provided shampoo but no conditioner, and the plastic containers were unlabeled and cumbersome.
Coco Reef has many positive features and I hope they improve some issues to make it an outstanding spot to stay in Bermuda.

My husband & I had the pleasure of staying at Coco Reef for our anniversary trip. We had an ocean front room which was recently upgraded, bright, airy and very clean. The cleaning lady was amazing, every night after a long day of exploring, our room was cleaned, we had fresh towels, the bed was made, trash cans were emptied & the floors were swept & mopped. She was very pleasant & always had a smile. The front desk was very helpful when needed. The grounds are beautiful & the private beach was amazing, it was so relaxing and at times felt as though we had the beach to ourselves. We grabbed a coffee & croissants to go one morning and ate it on the deck with the beautiful view of the ocean and sound of the waves before we headed out to explore the island some more and it was delicious & the coffee was excellent. Our 1st night we waited for the bus over an hour (the bus stop is a short walk up the hill from the hotel) the bus never came that night so we were stuck ordering dinner from our room through "four star" it's like an Uber Eats since most places were already closed. The next day we decided if we wanted to explore the island we needed to rent a scooter. Elbow Beach Scooter rentals is a 14min walk from the hotel and it was the best decision we made, we were able to drive around the whole island and check off all of our To-Do list & more!
There is a Mini-Mart a short walk from the hotel where you can stock up on snacks, waters etc. (warning the prices may shock you) $9 for a loaf of bread $12 for cheese
The Paraquet restaurant is few min down the road from the hotel. We had breakfast but weren't too pleased. It was just ok. If you want a decent breakfast for better price go to The Specialty Inn it's about a 9min drive from the hotel much better food and prices.
Ice Queen Restaurant is about a 4min drive from the hotel, as you will notice food in Bermuda is EXPENSIVE this place is as close to reasonably priced as possible (Cash Only) this is like the Bermudians "fast food spot" you can get burgers, fries, mozz sticks, ice cream you name it! and the good thing is their open until 4AM. We didn't skip a beat for the late night snacks here which were tasty.
Devils Isle Restaurant is about a 13min drive from the hotel this was the absolute best breakfast we had. Amazing specialty coffees, and delicious food!
Beaches - Horseshoe Bay although beautiful was crowded and not our cup of tea, besides Elbow beach, our favorite beach was Tobacco Bay Beach its about a 35min drive from hotel but it's beautiful! crystal clear calm waters, great for snorkeling and beautiful views.
Sea Glass Beach is a 31min drive from hotel, a must see where you'll find thousands of sea glass washed up on the shore creating a beautiful mosaic little piece of paradise.
Blue Hole Park - 25min drive from hotel, we hiked for about 30min we found caves filled with crystal clear water on the way and when we finally arrived at the blue hole it was breath taking, so worth it. We jumped in one of our highlights!
Crystal & Fantasy Caves about a 23min drive from hotel is something to see, it's a bit touristy but if you get there early, you avoid most of the crowds. Our tour guides were great and informative and so many beautiful photos to take.
Gibbs Hill Lighthouse - 14min drive from hotel beautiful lighthouse with amazing views must see
You must have a Wahoo Fish sandwich just like the locals have it, Wahoo fish, coleslaw, hot sauce, tarter sauce & cheese on raisin bread it is out of this world bursting with flavors, we went to Woody's about a 39min drive from hotel in Somerset Village to try one of the best places to get the wahoo fish sandwich on the island, and it sure was!
These are just some highlights of our trip, we saw and explored so much more!
Overall our stay at Coco Reef was Wonderful! This is one picture perfect trip we will never forget!

The hotel is undergoing substantial updating that is being done in a controlled and sensitive manner by the relatively new and very approachable manager. This hotel has about 64 rooms with plenty of garden space, all facing the stunning Elbow Beach. It has the “bones” of being the most beautiful, intimate and peaceful place on Bermuda and in just the 2 weeks that we have been here, we can see the changes day by day. We haven’t been subject to any work noise or interference at all as the Manager is keen that this be a priority.
Most of the rooms have already undergone a complete renovation and we were very pleasantly surprised on arrival.
The beds a very comfortable and the decor is light and airy. The rooms are spacious and there are plenty drawers and wardrobe space.
The restaurant staff are so warm, friendly and cannot do enough for their guests.
If you are looking for sunshine and sanctuary - this is the ideal location. My husband has enjoyed getting out of bed and running along the beach, watching the sunrise each morning, before jumping into the sea - what a way to start the day 🥰.

We loved our week at Coco Reef! If you love the beach this is the resort for you. We had a renovated “oceanfront” room and we had an amazing view of the ocean from our patio. The king bed was very comfortable and the AC worked well. The maid came every single day and we never saw her she was so stealthy! You can walk to a market at the bottom of the hill for snacks and drinks to keep in the room since there is a mini fridge. We also walked to coffee at Lattes one day-25 mins each way but the “croffles” were yummy!
The beach is clean and there were always plenty of umbrellas available. The pool was undergoing maintenance our first 2 days but we only sat at the beach anyway. The sand is SO soft and the water is perfect. You can walk for about a half a mile West along the beach until the rocks/cliff cut you off.
We ate at the restaurant 5 out of 6 mornings and while it’s not cheap the food is good and the view is unbeatable. The service was always top notch. (The Lido Cafe next door is excellent for dinner but a bit pricey. Book a table on Open table yo be safe.)
A waiter will bring you drinks on the beach and they’re good too. He was always circulating from about 10-5. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. The public beaches are crowded and no more beautiful for swimming and lounging. This is a great resort for beach lovers. It might be less than ideal for younger kids and mobility challenged folks as it’s a steep walk down to the lower buildings and beach.
The front desk folks were always very helpful with taxis and suggestions. Hamilton is a 10 minute cab ride and St. George’s is 30 mins. Beware on Wednesday nights it can be hard to get a cab because of Harbour Nights. We are at Tom Moore’s Tavern which was very good too.

The view from the place is awesome. The moment we came in the restaurant, we are greeted with smile. Shout out to Greg and Maviz for being attentive and friendly.
The food choices is quite limited. ( but they will change the menu soon for summertime) We tried the burger and Grilled Jerk. Chicken and it was so good. Kudos to the Chefs !!The selection of wine is superb.
We had a great time and I highly recommend this place. We will definitely comeback.

Great centra location for exploring beautiful Bermuda, with a fantastic beach on your doorstep
The hotel is undergoing a refurbishment but this didn’t impact on our stay. The location is ideal with an amazing beach on your doorstep and central on the island for getting about. The staff are all terrific and do all they can to make your stay perfect.

Location as always is everything. This property is on a beautiful beach and our room had a wonderful view. The main waitress at the restaurant was incredibly nice and was more or less running the place on her own it seemed. The food was good and the price for a Bermuda resort was fair but as usual a bit high. The drinks at the beach were very nice as was the Nick who served us. The tennis court is pretty awful but we were able to walk to the coral reef tennis club for excellent their excellent tennis facilities. The room is very 1980s but the WiFi was good and it had a safe with a old school thing they call a key. Lol. The resort is being updated and two blocks were closed already to be renovated and the main areas are being painted. The staff was very nice and helped arrange taxis. The Hitch app is like Uber in Bermuda was also a must. It’s not the Reefs or the St Regis and it’s far more reasonable as a result. I believe in a years time it will be a hard reservation after the updates are complete. Would happily return.

Pros:
-The grounds and beach are beautiful. Soft sand and blue water. The exterior of the buildings are elegant and hibiscus flowers adorn the grounds.
-The bed was comfortable. Pillows were comfortable.
- Plenty of drawers and closet space, decent sized room.
-The Golden Girls style room was charming. -The food at the restaurant was good.
- Nice maids. They were more attentive than the other departments.
The cons:
-The shower was so old and icky, in desperate need of an update!
-The guy working the beach wouldn’t set up chairs and umbrella for us ( or let us set up our own) because “its too much to bring back later”. There is a long staircase leading down to the beach, but at the rate per night we expected better.
- Two employees of the restaurant appear to be intellectually impaired and/ or from some sort of work program. The senior waitstaff was very apologetic for their mistakes and odd mannerisms. We saw a family there on a day-pass leave because after 20 mins they weren’t given a menu. While its kind to give these people job opportunities, it is at a great cost to the hotel.
- The throw pillow on the bed and couch cushions reeked of mildew. The maid was nice enough to wash the throw pillow after i suggested it could use a trip to the laundry.
- No roof or awning on the balcony! With cheap, uncomfortable, old patio furniture.
- None of the amenities a resort this price should have (help with luggage since there are no elevators). It was basically like a motel with a high price tag.

This was our second trip to Coco Reef.
First time in 2016, we were in ocean view room. This time we booked ocean front room. Absolutely gorgeous view. Worth the money.
Yes, this hotel is dated, however, they are currently updating things, one building at a time. It is going to be stellar. Check their webpage for details.
We had a fabulous stay.
EVERY staff member was lovely. Had some special help from reception personnel Kia, Kathy and Michael. Wait staff Gregory and Janel worked their butts off. Housekeeping Ethania and Trish kept our room perfect.
Beach here is on southshore. IMO the most beautiful. Only jumped in pool once. And we had had one dinner here.
There is a market nearby (walkable) for beverages, fruit, snacks, half & half etc. Upon our arrival we had our cab from airport do a pit stop for us.
Next door along the beach is an eatery at the now ruined Elbow Beach Hotel.
We hope to return !!!!!

This property is conveniently located in the middle of Bermuda, on the south road, with a lovely beach aspect. The staff were most gracious and helpful at all times. Our room and bed were quite comfortable with an idyllic ocean view. The meals we had here (breakfast and dinner) were very good and fairly priced … better value than some other places here. Our overall value was not as good as I would have liked; we booked a package through an airline and upon reflection it was overall quite expensive, with not much included, which I suspect was the airline’s doing.
