I found the resort to be very clean and comfortable. Our rooms were very nice and the housekeeping service was great. It was a slightly larger resort than we have gone to in the past, and in the restaurant service, that was evident. This resort requires you to make a reservation at restaurants other than the buffet. Reservations open at 12:00 midnight and can be made up to two days in advance. If you try to reserve at 12:02, they are gone. Luckily we were with another couple who stayed up to make the reservations, otherwise we would have been banished to the buffet for all our meals. Also, the loungers at the pool and beach always have towels on them and the no reserving with towels is not enforced. We watched chairs stay empty for the day. It was a nice resort, but due to the dining reservation system, we would not go back.

Decent hotel, clean rooms, food was good, entertainment for adults a bit boring. Some staff is super friendly ! Not a good resort if you are a smoker. You have to leave the property to smoke. Makes for a long walk with your coffee in the morning !

We went to the Grand Catalonia in Costa Mujeres in March 2025. We were a group of 4 (2 couples). We weren't satisfy with the rooms they gave us. We went to the reception to talk about it. Alexander came at our rescue and chance our rooms so that we had a pool view. Alexander was very professional, and caring to our demand. We highly recommend Alexander. Thank you for everything you did to us. We greatly appreciated.

The resort is spotless clean and the staff is fabulous. The beaches along this coast are amazing. Our beach server, Jennifer was amazing, so friendly and always had a smile, she remembers your name from the first day. The only thing we didn’t really care for is the fact that you have to make reservations at the restaurants, which in itself isn’t that bad, however, you need to do them three days at a time if you want a reservation.

Simply and amazing resort catering to both families and couples. The beach is absolutely beautiful, white sand, wide and goes on forever. If want a more of a party feel go to the party pool or go to the other side of the resort and stay at the other pool where it’s more quiet. Food, food and more food! All of it is a can’t miss even the buffet! Definitely do the Steakhouse if not twice like us. A more of a boutique feel with 4 large buildings rather than 1000s of rooms.
The rooms themselves are perfect and offer everything you need for a great stay.

Well I will start with the good......this resort is beautiful and our room (Honeymoon suite swim up) was awesome ....the staff was pretty good for the most part. Now for the bad....all al a cartes are by reservation through the app (which didn't work) so we had to get guest services to book dinner....this was also an issue because the only times available for the first 4 days were 830-900 at night (way to late for us) This first night was a right for dinner so we were going to get room service but...next issue you don't use the tv and order over the phone ....you have to fill more information (another app) to do room service ....I didn't do it because didn't want to keep giving out info. I decided to go to the food court area grab some tacos and go back to the room...Nope.....not allowed to do that either....had to eat at the tables. Day didn't start well. The next day we got into the Italian restaurant ....well my wife's shrimp Alfredo was a congealed mess, under cooked pasta and cold...my beef Parmesan(can't remember the name) was over cooked with not sauce and to much cheese....by the way could not get drinks just corona, wine or pop(no bar) Needless to say the food was terrible at this resort (buffet was ok but not the al a cartes) Next issue was the alcohol service NO alcohol before 11am then the pool bars closed before dinner. This was a pain in the a**. This place also didn't maintain the beach (resorts on either side cleaned the sea weed daily) not this place....smells. It almost seems like all issues were designed to prevent you from eating and drinking therefore they save $$$$. I have been to the Majestic Elegance,Dreams and Secrets in this area and they are both way better. Not worth the money and not a 5 star resort. Pretty resort, nice room but food at night... yuk. Go somewhere else.

Will definitely return to Costa Mujeres to an adults only.

My husband and I just left and we had a fabulous time. Our new favorite resort. Everyone who works there is super nice. Shout out to Luvia at the front desk. She went above and beyond on any request i had during my stay, even called a pharmacy for delivery when I needed something.
I went to the spa everyday. The spa is beyond clean. The staff are cleaning constantly so the rooms, bathrooms, sauna etc are all spotless. The spa makes you feel really high end.
Monica gives the best massages ever. They have a 360 massage which is 110 minutes of pure heaven. No elbows or forearms, all fingers. I have lots of physical issues and Monica worked it all out. I have not felt this good in years. The hydrotherapy team are also great making sure you get the best out of your time. The front desk is amazing. They made sure my appointments were correct and scheduled them to work around my other activities. If you like massages or facials, this is your place.
The food and drinks are amazing. We had tacos, fried rice and a margarita on the rocks everyday for lunch. If you get a chance do the Teppanyaki dinner. They have 2 food trucks in addition to the restaurants, the fish tacos are so yummy and so were the wings.
The beach is unparalled, always a chaise or chair and lots of shade. Try the passion fruit margarita on the rocks at the privileged beach bar.
This is our new favorite resort. We did privilege club and loved it but the buffet is amazing and had the best all inclusive breakfast ever. Plus the coffee there is great. The resort also has a Starbuck's type shop open almost 24 hours.
We will back next year as this resort cannot be beat for the price, we love it. If you are considering going, please do not hesitate and tell Monica I sent you.

We had an amazing stay! This was our 10th trip to the QR and first time in Costa Mujeres. The shuttle from CUN took about 50 minutes. Upon Arrival around 2:00 PM local time, we were greeted, offered a welcome drink, and directed to the check-in area where we were given our wristbands, which included an RFID chip that acted as our room key (more on the website below).
Accommodations:
We had booked the Preferred Suite Terrace room and requested to be in a specific building. They were able to accomodate us with a room that had 2 queen bed instead of a king, which was fine. The Suite was spacious with a desk, minibar, coffee maker and a loveseat with TV. There was a lot of storage in the bedroom and another TV. The bath had a single sink and large vanity with a separate frosted glass enclosed toilet and bidet. The shower was HUGE and had 2 rainfall heads and 2 hand-held heads with a large tinted glass wall that was open to the terrace. The center living space had sliding glass doors that opened to the terrace. The terrace spanned all 3 rooms and had a concrete patterned wall with an outdoor shower in front of the indoor shower glass wall. There was a 2-person reclining bed, a loveseat, chair and table. The preferred Terrace rooms were all on the 4th (top) floor and had a pergola overhead.
A few comments on some of the complaints we read about prior to our visit:
Probably the most frequent issue we read about was dining reservations. When we checked in, we were sent an email confirmation with a link to services. This is where you make dining reservations, as well as the daily schedule of activities. The gentleman at the front desk at check-in showed us where to go on the website and how to make reservations. We had no issues, even on the evening of our arrival getting a table at Steakville (also listed as The Grill). Although not all times were always available on the nights we wanted, we were still able to get reservations at all the restaurants we wanted during our stay. Keep in mind there are also several dining locations other than the buffet that do not take reservations and have availability for dinner.
The pool bars do not serve alcohol before 11:00 am local time. This was a change from other resorts we've stayed in the past where 10:00 was the usual time for alcohol. The buffet did have a self-serve mimosa cart for breakfast.
Some notes about the resort:
We found the prices of merchandise in the shops, specifically in the mini mart to be reasonable and there was a nice selection and variety of items. The food everywhere we ate was very good. The breakfast and other views at BLOVED were the best. The fish tacos at the quiet pool were also a favorite! Overall, we found the resort to be quiet and laid back. We did find it interesting that they did have "towel police." It is highly frowned upon to reserve chairs at the beach and pool to the point where they had staff closely monitoring this. One morning they actually cleared chairs at thew pool, took the towels, photographed any personal items, bagged them and made the spots available because nobody was there. This was the first time we've seen this at a resort. It seemed like there were always spots at the pools somewhere. Chairs at the beach were harder to find, probably because these were not patrolled as closely. The beach was clean and the sargassum was minimal. It did not impact the swimming or the appearance of the clear water. The beach was raked each morning.
Every staff member we encountered was friendly and really helped make our trip an enjoyable one. We'd definitely consider staying here again!

Buffet is one of the best that we have had and we have been to many all inclusives. The fruit was beyond fresh and so many options, the choices of fresh juices, the choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner were all fantastic
The food trucks were great option , 5th avenue is amazing.
The A la Carte options were excellent, (least favorite was Steak house for us) we ate at the Vegan restaurant twice. Loved it so much. Ismael gives excellent service so ask for him if you can. THEY were all great but we had him twice and loved him.
The beach is stunning, we never ever had issues with chairs and only woke up at 9 , we moved them around a few times to get shade but no stress we are on vacation.
The service on the beach and at the bars were excellent. The sand is sooo soft, reminds me of Aruba.
The grounds , the front lobby, the bar area, the decor I just loved everything at this hotel. The check in was super fast, check out was great. The guys at check out for luggage (i forget their names) but were excellent - APril 18th.
Loved the rooms , so beautiful and loved the shower. excellent cleaning services . We were in Building 4 and loved it.
If your flight is late , you can use the services -big showers and nice bathroom to get ready. one of the best i have had.
WE definitely will be back next year as we loved it so much!!!

Room 1007
Hi there, super holiday thank you besides the weather.
Uk visitor - Jan 2025.
Beautifully appointed suites with spacious dressing room, living room, bedroom and bathroom. Huge balcony - we booked a “privileged” suite which came with sea view and access to BLoved - a restaurant just for Privileged guests, serving a la carte breakfast lunch and dinner (fabulous food). Freddy (the captain) looked after us royally! As did his trusty team Merida, Daniela, Yaren and Eduardo
The various a la carte restaurants require a booking and with a small window to secure an earlier slot, we found ourselves setting an alarm for midnight when the slots were released! That said, we had the wonderful BLoved restaurant not requiring a reservation and the buffet was as good as any I’ve been to over my many years of travelling. Infact breakfast has a few more unique stations which gave it an edge. Privileged guests get a private seating area and additional attentive servers.
There’s 2 pools. A quiet serene pool with swim up bar and attentive waiting staff to keep you topped up with drinks and, what I call the “party pool” with all day nonstop activities, with quizzes, music and fun and games for all ages. This also has a swim up bar and those marvellous smiling waiting staff ensuring everyone is looked after.
The beach is cleared of seaweed daily and offers an array of bars offering yet more drinks for those enjoying the many sun-beds dotted amongst the palm trees.
Reading some of the less favourable reviews of this hotel totally baffle me. I have visited 75 countries world wide and regard myself well travelled. My third visit to Mexico, The Grand Catalonia hotel delivered on quality and service with a wide variety of food available 24 hours. We found it to be clean, comfortable, chic and frankly great value.
Despite the awful weather, staff greeted us with a smile and were all very professional.
Mexico truly is the king of the all inclusive and Catalonia definitely exceeded our expectations
Yes, you may queue for coffee or to be seated at the buffet at busy times but as a consequence you enter a restaurant which is constantly cleaned, well organised & calm inside. No overcrowding. No unmade tables.
There’s plenty of restaurants to chose from here too -Steakville was our favourite a la carte restaurant where staff went over and above to ensure we had an excellent experience. BLoved was a very close second.
The lobby bar staff were all excellent (Javier is a legend and Francisco also looked after us royally!) and although we didn’t go to the theatre much, the shows we saw were excellent (Michael Jackson was amazing!)
Privileged suite was a totally good call as the benefits definitely elevated our experience.
So my top tips are
⁃ Choose a Privileged suite
⁃ As soon as you arrive familiarise yourself with the app and get booking restaurants. Try BLoved on your first night
⁃ Pick the pool which suits your needs best
⁃ Chill, relax and enjoy the amazing hospitality.
