We chose the Calabash Hotel for our 20th Anniversary, and we are so glad we did! From the moment we arrived, we had exceptional service, being met enthusiastically by staff and a member of the Garbutt family. From there we were led to our amazing suite where they had decorated the whole thing for our anniversary! Beautiful decorations, a bottle of wine AND champagne, and delicious rum punch. Every detail top to bottom has been thought of at this hotel. From the little things like adapters and a ladder on the balcony to dry wet clothes to the larger things like personalized service at every turn, and the friendliest of staff, that are more like family. We have been to many resorts in the Caribbean, and this has taken the gold. The food is UNREAL. Breakfast on our patio (lobster Benedict!), lunch at the Beach Club (pizzas from gorgeous pizza oven!) and dinner at either Nori (get the Kiss of Fire roll) or Rhodes (where do I begin…everything was amazing). They also have nights at the beach club with live music. The food is really next level- the executive chef Nick has really nailed the balance between being local, inventive and having exceptional taste and quality. The house wines are lovely and delicious and the array of cocktails cannot be beat. The resort itself is quiet and peaceful. It’s not a place to go if you are looking for a night life. It’s where you go to recharge and reconnect. We were treated so graciously by everyone who worked at the Calabash. Concierge Stevens, ready and available to listen any time, George and Dennis at the bar giving impeccable service, always with a fist bump and a smile. Head maître d’ Michael and the restaurant staff were wonderful including Miguel, Sherlyn, Abigail, Morissa, Kendrick, Rhonda - honestly the entire crew were spectacular. The housekeeping staff were next level. Rooms were beautifully made a few times a day, and the mini bar always stocked by Gabriel with a big smile. We never had to ask for a thing! The grounds were so beautifully kept. The beach is beautifully set in a harbor. Lots to do from paddle boarding, kayaks, snorkeling at the West Indies Scuba hut right on the beach who run great tours and have a resident cat Mai Tai to make you happy. Jay led us on our snorkeling excursion to Glover Bay- only a 5 minute boat ride away, but it gave us a chance to see the island and its beauty by boat. Vaughn and Calvin at the beach never let us make our own chair beds, or go without a cold water or frosty beverage. For our island tour Ryan Bartholomew led us to the rainforest reserve where we interacted with the Mona monkeys on the island. A beautiful spot for hiking and seeing the island from above. Beautiful lake in the center formed in the crater of a volcano that erupted ages ago. We also went into the town of St George and hit the House of Chocolate, worth a visit. Lastly a spa visit is a definite to do while at the Calabash. Danielle and Hannah led us to spa bliss and the facility itself is simple and peaceful. All in all, one of the best vacations of our life. A top notch experience from start to finish. PS- being so close to the airport means plans fly overhead several times a day. It did not bother us, but worth noting!

Beautiful property, great food. Highly recommend booking an island tour with Ryan Bartholomew, great guy and we loved learning the history of Grenada from him. And, book a snorkel trip with Savvy's through Calabash too. Such a fun day! Can't wait for our return visit!

Once again, a lovely holiday at this great hotel, but a couple of minor grumbles.

This was our fourth stay at this wonderful well-run family hotel with brilliant staff. We did however have one minor issue with someone trying to get into our room at 4 am. My wife was awake and clearly heard the door handle click. She shouted who is there. I got up and looked around but could not see anyone . Mentioning this the following day we were told that it was someone from security. It was very unnerving and we asked to be moved at our expense to a room we felt was safer. We had not had this issue before and were a little surprised in the way it was dealt with. It did not seem to be taken seriously . Our other minor grumble is that the owners are very visible eating in one of the restaurant most days. The previous year we had been very warmly greeted on our arrival by them and also they took the trouble to say goodbye to us when we left. We even discovered we had mutual friends in Norwich . This year we were not spoken to and just felt it rather strange after a 10 day stay. Not sure why? On a more positive note, the staff are brilliant and the food is exceptional, though the wine list could perhaps be better? Would we go back again? Yes we would!

The real test of any business is its performance under stress. The staff at the Calabash provided the most phenomenal service we’ve ever received- despite our stay coinciding with hurricane Beryl. The warmest welcome was provided upon arrival, with many team members awaiting us at reception. Our expectations were high and were surpassed every day. There are so many of the staff I could single out for exemplary service. Each and every one of them had a smile, a warm greeting and a story to share, from the security guards to the sports club, the wait staff and beyond. We had several instances where the went above and beyond- including tracking down a lost UPS package, helping me find a gift and blowing up complicated balloons for my partner’s birthday. We were extremely well taken care of during the hurricane with the front desk calling us regularly to see if we were ok. The kitchen provisioned us with food and other supplies in advance of the onset. The hotel has been constructed with safety in mind and was not damaged. The grounds were impacted and restored almost immediately. We had two rooms and the second suite will benefit from some upgrades but it was spacious, comfortable and clean. The hotel has a true family feel and is in a class of its own. We absolutely loved our stay with the Calabash. If outstanding hospitality, platinum service and unforgettable staff are what you’re looking for… you’ve found it.

One of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed in. Wonderful staff, good food, decent drinks selection in the all-inclusive package, well-appointed suites with big rooms, excellent aircon, huge bathroom with very good shower. The owner himself actually pitches up at the weekly cocktail party, so you have a perfect opportunity to let him know of any issues (we didn’t have any). Non-powered water sports are included, and there’s good availability of a wide range of kit. Decent mini-bar, again all included, canapés brought to the room every evening. You can have breakfast on your verandah if you so choose. We had the best time, and are genuinely planning to return. It really is that good.

One of the best hotels we have ever stayed at. Within an hour of arriving and having Afternoon Tea we felt at home and relaxed. All the staff were so welcoming and friendly. We enjoyed a delightful breakfast on our balcony one morning but loved dining right on the beach in the mornings. Best French Toast eve !! We could not fault any of the meals we had. Dinner in Rhodes was a highlight for us and loved the Lion Fish on the menu. We felt the upgrade to half board was a good decision. The Suite we had was very spacious and had everything you could ask for. The clothes steamer was a great idea as who wants to iron on holiday. There were so many attentive staff such as Alex, Michael, Stephens, Hannah.. the list goes on. The Garbutt family really do an amazing job and I will certainly be recommending this hotel to family and friends.

From the moment we arrived and we were greeted by the fabulous Reagan to the minute we left nothing was too much trouble for all the amazing members of staff at Calabash, they really make you feel welcome and the level of service from everyone is second to none. There is a real air of calm at this hotel, the gardens are pristine and the beach is so peaceful, on the couple of days we did venture out we were always happy to return to the calm surroundings. We stayed on a half board basis and really could not have eaten anymore if we had wanted too, the breakfast on our patio everyday was a real treat and the evening meals at Rhodes were always beautifully presented and delicious. Our room was modern and had everything you could possibly want in it, there really is so much attention to detail and thoughtful items in the rooms, and was always kept spotless. We have been lucky enough to visit alot of Caribbean Islands and stayed in many hotels and have never returned anywhere as we like to try different places but here is somewhere we have seriously already discussed returning to. Thank you to all the Calabash team !

There are some rare places that really get it when it comes to luxury and Calabash certainly does. We stayed four nights and would have been very happy to stay longer. About a dozen or more two story villas and larger family ones are set in a beautiful, lush garden by a bay. We had a ground floor unit with a nice front patio with easy chairs, and a table with chairs for dining. The good size living room had a very comfy sofa and an easy chair with a very contemporary light wood cupboard for the fridge, coffee maker, long desk, etc. and a TV. There was a bottle of rum punch and they did not skimp on the rum, plus a jar with delicious cookies that were perfect for dunking in our morning coffee. The bedroom, also a decent size, had a really comfy bed and tons and tons of cupboard and drawer space, and another TV. On each bedside table was a multi point charging plug. The bathroom was huge with double sinks and a large shower area. There were waffle bath robes and lots of thick towels. A sliding door opened from the bedroom onto a totally private back patio with a good size plunge pool, outdoor bathtub and shower, two chaise lounges and a table with chairs for private dining. Whoever designed and furnished this place did a perfect job and they did not skimp on the quality of the furniture and fixtures. Also the air conditioning works really well. Breakfast can be in your villa but we always went to the pool restaurant where the staff and food were wonderful. We had dinner all four nights in the main restaurant but there is also a Japanese Fusion one. There are daily dinner specials and lots and lots of choices to satisfy any taste. Absolutely everything, amuse bouches, appetizers, mains and desserts were delicious - no fabulous. One night I had the absolute best duck I’ve ever had. The wine list is comprehensive enough and very fairly priced. Here too the staff are wonderful, the service efficient but not rushed, and they interact with you depending on your own personality. Wait staff can make or break any meal and here they definitely make it.

My wife and I spent a week at the Calabash. This Relais & Chateaux gem cannot be missed. It has what one would expect from a luxury resort but what really sets it apart are the wonderful staff. I have traveled extensively in the Caribbean and often refer to the “Caribbean cool” that we often feel from locals and employees. That is, they often seem to not be truly invested in the service industry, and they often present a lackluster attitude. Not so at the Calabash. Every single staff member was invested in insuring that my wife and I truly enjoyed our experience at the hotel. Highly recommended. If you’re visiting Grenada this is the place to stay.

Knowing we were going to a Relais & Chateau hotel, we were looking forward to luxury and that is exactly what we enjoyed at Calabash. It is a small (30 units) family owned and managed hotel with the family in evidence. I am somewhat disabled. However, the hotel is mainly on the level and it was no problem to me. The rooms are comfortable and well furnished. The catering is as you would expect from a 5* hotel. However, most important of all the staff are really friendly and obviously happy to work at Calabash. Any help needed is never too much trouble. It is a peaceful hotel and the beach under the shade of the trees is delightful. There is seaweed growing in the sea, which the hotel do try to control. It is not offensive but you may prefer to wear sand shoes. There is occasional aircraft noise, as the hotel is about 10 minutes from the airport. Would we return? Yes ... we certainly hope to do so.

First time visitors to Grenada. We chose Calabash for its boutique size. The accommodations were beautiful. It was upscale, but felt like it belonged and blended in with the beautiful nature around us. We mostly ate at Calabash for all our meals. The food was excellent and there was new menu options each evening. Hats off to Chef Ramces.! try the new Japanese fusion restaurant. The food was amazing! The entire team from the front desk, to the servers, to the housekeeping were professional, friendly, helpful, and made you feel at home. We rented a car and did day trips around the island to get a feel for the island of Grenada . The beach at Calabash is quiet, and the service is top-notch, but there are other beautiful beaches to explore close by such as Magazine Beach, and Grand Anse beach. Visiting St. George’s, walking around the harbour and shopping in the spice market, gives a good impression of the pulse of the island. The front desk was helpful with supplying towels, bug spray, and even a cooler bag for our days exploring. Spending time on the balcony at night, listening to the tree frogs was a favourite thing to do. When we return to Grenada, we will definitely stay at Calabash again.
