Just returned from Barcelo bavaro palace. First off the resort is absolutely beautiful and super clean. There is so much there . All Staff was great during our whole trip. The thing that ruined it was there is this terrible terrible smell, not sure what it is, but seemed to be mainly around the restaurant areas. It was to the point I was gagging out loud the whole Trip ( very embarrassing) and could barely eat anything there since the smell was mainly confined around the restaurants. If they could get the smell under control it would be an amazing resort. But for now is a definite no in the future

Our stay was at Barcelo Bavaro Beach Resort(Adult Side). Although all of the staff was friendly, helpful and pleasant, one particular person stands out and that is one of the bartenders Jose Rajas! He was absolutely fantastic! He serviced us every evening we were there, always smiling, pleasant, friendly and always remembered our drinks! When we go back, and we will go back because the trip was phenomenal! We really hope to see Jose again! He was extremely pleasant to be around! Thank you Jose for your part in making our vacation a memorable one!

I have stayed at the Barcelo in Cancun Mexico . It was amazing. We get here and the help is terrible a few nice ones . The bartenders have no idea how to make a margarita at the beach bar . The TV’s are out dated and the cable is terrible . The hotel is wonderful. My issue is that we payed for premium level but went to the bar in the palace in the second floor and was not able to get top shelf drink . It would cost us extra . So why even pay for premium when we can buy our own bottles . It would be our last time in punta cana for sure .

This review is especially for the 4 guys servicing at the Mamey Lobby Bar, ANGEL, MARIO,JOEL & JOSE. SHAME on all of You. I stood in front of the bar for a good 10 minutes all 4 of them looked me in the eye and ignored me. After I realized that I was not going to be serviced, I raised my hand and one of them came to speaking Spanish and I asked him for water in english, which is all I wanted . He got for me and said gracias very sarcastic. I asked a girl that was outside delivering drinking to get the manager from the bar and he came out and spoke to me. I have to say that he dis not apologize and dis not give the impression that he cared. He said I will speak to them but I told him I needed their names. This is very sad they knew I was dominican and they only care about the tourists. SHAME ON YOU 4. I have been a member for 25 years and have seen this before but it is still very sad.

We (my partner and I) stayed at this resort (adults only side) mid March which was March break for many schools etc. so both the adults side and the Palace side was very busy - we knew this going so all good - We were in building 5 on the beach side which was very close to the beach buffet "Las Brisas" which we really enjoyed. Was right on the beach overlooking the ocean. At night time it was a Mediterranean a la carte. As many have said the rooms were clean and spacious but a bit run down overall. All good though beds comfy etc. Once we settled in we were very happy with the room overall. Note we don't go on trips to watch TV but our room had no remote and even after countless times (more than 5) asking for a remote and front desk staff writing it down we did not receive one all week so no TV. As mentioned we were not there to watch TV so after the first 3-4 days of requesting one we gave up which is fine but when you pay a good amount to visit these all inclusive spots you should not have to beg for something that should just be there. A bit disappointed the beer in the room was Coors light and not Presidente - Not a deal breaker but nice to have something different in the room. The beach and ocean was top notch gorgeous - the water was warm and did not disappoint - I like to look at fish by the water - saw some small sting rays - sea turtles and many fish. One day in the AM when the water was calm we took a paddleboat out - was fun! We are beach people over the pool so we spent most mornings walking the beach and then settling down on the beach - no issues finding chairs on the beach. The pool on adults side was nice but we used it very limited - the beach was our happy place. *If you walk to the left of the resort there is a little tiki hut called LA PINA I believe and they will make you a fresh drink (they have menu) in a pineapple - it is for an additional cost - I think it was 4-6$ US and charged to your room - but something different so we did that one day. Restaurants - As mentioned two buffets on the Beach side LAS BRISAS and I can't recall the other ones name but both had lots of options and decent for sure - after 7 days though as per anything gets a bit repetitive but we found something and enjoyed. We really enjoyed the a la carte Chez Gourmet dinner it was our favorite probably of the whole week - it's a small building close to the lobby and very elegant inside - was nice. We ventured over to the Palace side one evening and ate at the golf course - it was a nice view of the golf course and decent again - we don't go to these resorts to be wowed by the food so we just enjoyed the scenery and if food decent all good. One thing to note was we had been told we had access to all restaurants at the Palace side (we were on the beach side)and we were not premium - but when booking our restaurants many on the Palace side had a 15$US per person if you booked them! :( This shocked me - we have stayed many places - and usually it is maybe one restaurant that has additional costs. For this visit if we wanted to book the Italian, Mexican, Japanese ALL 15US per person. And the french restaurant on the palace side was $30 US per person extra - so needless to say we booked none of these except the Italian which we paid for and was so-so. Many of our friends that booked the Japanese told us they were not charged for that one which we would have gone but not at an extra cost! Drinks were decent - some places made nice moijitos, wine as mentioned just OK, champagne and mimosas good, presidente beer good, Slushie drinks sugary as expected but nice to have on a warm day. Casino was nice to walk to - to walk from the beach side to palace side from building 5 was about 6 minutes - if you are at other end of Beach side (far left) maybe 8-10 minute walk to Palace side - good to get some steps in! Otherwise they have a trolley running every so often - we liked the walk so never took the trolley but it was available. If you want things busier the Palace side is of for you - louder, busier, little slower and longer lines to get drinks - we mostly just went there for the Casino at night - there is a nice rooftop patio with gas fireplaces - great for pictures or an evening drink - the Palace side is huge - they do have sports bar across from the Casino - for our week it was filled with 18-20 year olds so wasn't our vibe - maybe different at other times of year. Entertainment - So-so on beach side - they had a kareoke night, and a saxophone one night but I felt they didn't market it well so we didn't know. The Palace side had Michael Jackson night and a very larger stage at the palace side - so if you are looking for nightly shows I would suggest the palace side. Lastly our flight on the last day was not until 10:55pm but our check out was 12pm - we spoke with Jesus from concierge and he managed to get us a 2pm check out at no charge and so we took that - then they had a place to keep our luggage and showers available to use at the end of the day prior to heading to airport. We could have got a check out at 6pm but for an additional 60$US. All in all a nice spot to visit - I am not sure we will return as we have other places we would like to try out - but overall in the end we were not disappointed with this spot - but a few things they can improve to help make this spot even better!

The beach is a dream, clear see, no waves as it is an atoll. Coconut trees provide ample shadow. The staff is friendly, helpful, welcoming. It begins withthe premium receptionist, Angela in bar Bohio, chicha and Berenice in La Brisa, the cook Jordan, and the caddies Raniero, Hector, Maximo, and all the others, excellent staff. Yes, it has a great golf course redesigned by P.t. Die in 2010. Take a lot of golfballs along! :-) golf is included but the cart is payable. The Beach adults only is dated, has beautiful gardens, and is quiet fo such a big hotel. The highpoint for our visits is knowing the director, she already helped us in a few tight situations. Sandy, thank you always! Finally: you can not get more for this price, especially booking early. We just booked 3 weeks in October!

The suite was beautiful, immaculate, spacious with the beautiful beach front view . Room service was prompt. The beach had plenty seating, pool area was clean and the bar next to it. Service was excellent, friendly and always ready to make you feel welcome

Just got back from a week stay at Barcelo Beach. This was our second time staying at the resort. We had a Premium swim up room which is one of the main reasons why we elected to come back here. The food at the buffet is very mediocre and bland at the resort. If you do any of the a la carte restaurants I recommend calling in advance to secure good time slots. I called a few days before arriving. Definitely would recommend doing dinner at Là Comedie(French). The service there was by far the best. We dined there 2X and at Kyoto 2X. Kyoto wasn’t as good as last year but I really think it depends on whether you get a good hibachi chef. We also did Là fuente which was pretty good as well as Italian which was just ok. Last year we did the Seafood restaurant and Steakhouse and did not care for either one of them. My biggest gripe about our stay was housekeeping. Our room was cleaned once during our stay as well as one turn down service. I had to ask housekeeping to clean the room and they didn’t come for hours that at that point I just requested towels, tissue and toilet paper. Cleaning the room after 5p is unacceptable to me because you’re trying to get showered and ready for dinner at that point. I felt so at the mercy of these cleaners trying to stay out of the room so they’d be able to clean and they would never come by. The guy that comes around to fill the mini fridge though was very dependable. He came around the same time every day. If you order the drinks through the waitresses at the lobby bar they are the ones that make your drink somewhere in the back. Some of those waitresses have no business making drinks. I received a chocolate martini that had lime bits floating in it. It had me mentally spiraling wondering if they squeezed lime in it or used a dirty glass or martini shaker cause WTH? I think it’s better to order the drinks straight from the bartender. All the bartenders were nice except for Yogeviny. I was at the bar waiting a few minutes for my turn when a guy walked up after and bartender skipped over me. Luckily the guy told him I was actually next. Another time I asked him for a bottle of water and he said no bottles of water. I saw many bottles being handed off to people. I noticed better treatment with my boyfriend being present.

I enjoyed the beach and most of the Resort. I had a very disappointing experience at Chez Gourmet restaurant. The staff were not welcoming, and the food quality was subpar; it seemed as though some dishes were reheated. My husband and I received burnt lobster tails, and my friend and I both ordered beef tartare, but mine appeared overcooked while his was undercooked. Consequently, we left early, having barely eaten our meals. Furthermore, when my husband was getting change from the front desk, it appeared that $10 was omitted; when he requested a recount, the employee simply placed the missing money on the counter without verifying the total.

We had an absolute blast at this resort! All of the staff were amazingly friendly and helpful, always smiling and created such a positive vibe everywhere you went. One of our favourite things about this resort was the entertainment. The daily activities on the beach and in the pool were fun, I especially loved the beach zumba! The evening shows were enjoyable and we loved dancing with the entertainment crew. Special shout out to Nicki, Arianna, Marleny, Ezequiel and Mia! These guys are all fabulous and made our stay so much fun. They also all tried very hard to teach us how to dance haha The resort grounds and beach were stunning. Everything was clean and beautiful. The palm trees on the beach were pretty. We enjoyed walking the beach every day (and night!) No vendors on the beach which made it more relaxing as well. The ocean was full of sea creatures - we enjoyed some of our own snorkeling, we saw sea turtles, sting rays and many fish. It was also nice to have the family friendly resort next door. We were not premium but were able to use the pools and we went to the disco every night which was fun. The train ride is handy but it's a very beautiful walk along the beach to get there and back and not very far so it's perfect. We also stopped at the sports bar to watch a bit of hockey on the big screen before checking out an evening show at the Palace. It had nice comfy chairs and great drinks! We only ate at the 2 buffets on the adult only side and enjoyed the food very much! Also loved the beautiful views of the ocean from our tables. All of the drinks we had were very good, and the poolside service was a nice touch, although I didn't mind getting out of the pool to grab a drink at the pool bar. All in all we had a really fun and memorable trip. We can't wait to come back with a group of friends so they can experience this lovely resort and all of the wonderful people who make it extra special.

Barceló Bávaro beach is such an amazing place for adults to relax and enjoy an all-inclusive beach vacation. Angel from the reception was a really great help and offered good service during our stay and made sure we were good. We will definitely come back!
