I love everything about the hotel especially the staff. They are so kind and helpful. Emely was the best. She did a great job with us about questions and concern. We want to come back soon with our whole family. I like the quiet Beach and activitie.

This was our 6th stay and possibly our last.
PROs
Beautiful grounds
Friendly staff
Very clean rooms
Finally have non alcoholic beer but not in the restaurants, only at the bars
CONS
Rooms looking tired and could use a refresh
Food was average at best. Skimping on quality. Worst tea I’ve ever had. No teapots or good tea any longer. Orange juice tasted like orange drink out of a can, beef was tough even at Don Pablo’s.
Maintenance very slow to respond and consequently had to change rooms.
Beach is not as clean and well maintained as it used to be.
We had a lovely time but overall, not like it used to be. In 2017/18/19 it was excellent in every regard and that’s why we kept coming back but last year and this a disappointment. If it wasn’t for the friendly, happy staff (especially Andersen) I’d give it a worse rating.

The hotel is aduts only, it is beautifully set out out and appointed and lovely lush green gardens with pools and is right on the palm laden beach. We stayed in a junior sweet which was so spacious. The hotel communal areas and grounds are spotlessly clean and welcoming. Pools are swim up and there is a quiet pool if you want to escape the noisy entertainment. Food is served as international cuisine buffet in the impressive Jazmin restauirant at lunch and buffet style at Las Daliad for breakfast and dinner. The food choise and quality is really good. There is a beach restaurant too. They have 3 a la cartes too - Takara (oriental) which we did not dine because they had no dishes suitable for coelics.-, Los Corales which is a meat feast and brilliant and fun and a great team with the lovely Shary - definitely the best option - and finally Don Pablo which OMG was the worst dining experience we have ever had and far too many issues to relate here but when the main front of house when clearing the first course stacks your dirty knife and fork on top of the desert spoon bring the main course and expect you to use those again then you get the drift. Staff were rude and not interested in us once we stated that I was gluten free. Food was poor as well. Now onto to staff. Bellboy Adrienne is a gentle giant and so helpful and the guy( slightly built) in the cream /white jacket on the reception desk is so engaging. Housekeeping is good. Most of the staff are okay with a number of exceptions and they need to be retrained or find another vocation cos they come across with an abrupt surly manner. Staff do tend to flock around and treat the American and Spanish guests better than the British mainly cos of the American tipping culture and Spanish speaking their own tongue. Enteratinment was pretty mundane and the usual hotel hiliday entertainment team but they can certainly dance. It was thoroughly enjoyable stay.

The only problem we had was from Bahia principe transportation. We could not find the location for pick up, Air Transit was very good to call the hotel and they said we don't have a transportation reservation. I call the 800 number and they we have a reservation and did we go to Air Canada booth and offered no more help. We ended up paying for a ride to hotel. When I contacted Bahia principe transportation they were no help in any compensation. Be warned if you can't find your ride you pay and Bahia principe does not care

Just got back from this hotel had a lovely relaxing week after a week cruise. No real complaints about the hotel , yes rooms were a bit tired and the shower wasn't very powerful. Main thing was only found 2 sockets which had lamps plugged in but they weren't near the bed. The complex was a nice size only a minute walk to reception, pool and restaurants. We used the quiet pool all week sun beds nicely spaced out unlike the other pool. Swim up bar was good pedro and Marien were brilliant. No problem getting sun beds but not enough parasols. Food was good maybe too much choice but good selection. We only went to the grill a La Carte restaurant which was amazing the meat was delicious.

What an amazing place, if you are looking for a clean, friendly, peaceful hotel then this is it. Fantastic rooms, animation team work their socks off day and night but are not over zealous with guests. A choice of excellent restaurants to dine in. The hotel is so peaceful and serene if you wish or if you want a bit of life that is there also. Drinks very good for an all inclusive. If I was to revisit Dominican Republic I would choose again this hotel.

Bahia Principe Luxury Bouganville stay February 2025
Rooms need some upgrades, limited electrical outlets near bed. Shower handle was broken so had to hold while taking shower. Drain in shower was very slow. Limited cabanas and umbrellas aroung pool. Speciality restaurants were excellent.
Normally I like a resort where we can walk off property into a village. This place is no where near anything but I never felt secluded. Super well laid out. They can have a sax player in one area and the entertainment team in another and the noise never conflicts....

Super well laid out. They can have a sax player in one area and the entertainment team in another and the noise never conflicts.
The rooms are typical Dominican style. In a Canadian opinion in need of a refresh. In Dominican opinion it was great. The beds are hard. My hubby had issues with being stiff and sore from them but adjusted during the stay.
Shower always had hot water and pressure, Great shower, I didn’t use the tub.
Our balcony never got sun which was a bit of a bummer but it did mean it never got too hot.
The cleaning lady was attentive and kept things including the mini bar to our liking.
The staff are amazing. All friendly, chatty. I have never been to an all inclusive resort where the animation team makes an effort to include, talk to or dance with everyone. Normally they have their flavours of the week but this is not true here. Everyone from animation to bars to beach service were stupendous.
I appreciated the fact that we never once fought for a lounge chair at beach or pool nor did we fight for tables in the evening to enjoy the entertainment. Even though the resort was fairly full, it never felt that way.
Great resort and would definitely go back

The hotel is immaculate. The staff are super friendly and willing to do whatever is asked. Restaurants are top notch. Plenty of activities for those wanting to be active but no pressure for those who want to sit back and relax. Bahia Principe is our main resort that we continue to revisit again and again.

Overall, relaxing, chill place. Would I go again? No. Rooms nice size, clean. Housekeeping good. We were on the first floor. Noisy with workers and equipment at all hours. Buffet was okay- food was repetitive. We made reservations for the different restaurants for each night- the favorite was Takara. We ordered a bottle of wine off the wine list and waited, at least, 45 minutes for our wine to arrive. All the restaurants were just okay but nice to not have to eat at the buffet. Beach was nice- water was murky but we swam anyway. The grounds are beautiful and the weather was lovely.

The luxury vacation is everything they had promised and more.... We arrived and were greeted from start to finish with excellent and friendly service at all times with always a smile, and couldn't have asked for more in our vacation.
Arrival and departure seamless from airport to resort and return on departure from the resort to the airport when leaving for home. No hiccups encountered and very organized. Even staff went out of their way to speak your language and knew English very well so conversing was not an issue.
Bloody cesaers (my favorite) were even easily accessible. No long waits at anything and lots of variety and many dishes everywhere we frequented during our stay.
The food, service, drinks, activities, entertainment and al a carte restaurants and buffets went above and beyond to serve us the whole week we visited the resort from February 6 to 13, 2025 with a wide variety to please all.
Just arriving back, and reflecting on our week there, we would definitely go back again as we were thoroughly pleased. Everything in our opinion we would rate as 5-star.
Our room was delightful with a wonderful big terrace to drink coffee on each morning if desired, room service if not wanting to go out for breakfast, lunch or dinner also with no long wait times and very prompt in setting up a wonderful private dining experience.
Our room was cleaned when wanted each day if preferred and our bed freshly made and our room smelling of as clean and spruced up each day like the day we arrived welcoming us back. Fully stocked towels daily and mini-bar each and every day, very clean and beautiful just like our first day.
Our favorites were the buffets but of the al la carte restaurants our favorites which we frequented more than once was the Asian and the Don Pablo which we saved for our last evening which was superb to say the least but no matter where we went during the day or evening it was an awesome experience.
The beach was wonderful because it was the calmest I've ever seen and walked it many times which was very enjoyable. There were always chairs at the pool or beach no matter when we attended them and to place our towels, there was no need to rise early to get a seat or lounger. There was always one waiting for us therefore we discovered it allowed us to sleep in if wishing to on any particular day.
The night life was fantastic and the music especially so we found the 70s and 80s shows and music were our favorites. Many nights enjoyable from our location wherever we sat and our terrace even with a vast variety throughout our evenings there. Daily activities as well ranged in much variety to suit all and were very entertaining.
It didn't matter where your suite was, it would have been enjoyable from all locations as everything was central from anyone's room.
What we loved was not having to walk too far on the property to any one thing and if you were slower on foot, shuttles would take you where ever you wanted to go without much of a wait.
I cannot say enough about this resort, I would go back in a heartbeat and am already planning our next trip and have recommended it to everyone I know who is wanting a much needed 5-star vacation both family and friends alike.
Thank you for the wonderful resting and relaxing stay! Looking forward to doing it again very soon!

Pools in great shape and clean. Never a language barrier, everyone spoke English very well. Preimim drinks never ending. Room service for morning breakfast was amazing as the server had set up on our terrace, it was unbelievable. The room was great, always hot water. Cleaning staff fantastic in cleaning our room. Always fresh and smelling great. I can go on,but the truth this resort is fantastic, for newlyweds great for romance. We have been to many resorts throughout Dominican and this resort is a 5 star plus. Remember your in a country where they do not have the access to lots of things that we take advantage in our own country. Again, you will enjoy everything here. Oh yes the beach is always calm which is great for the older generation.

Staff are excellent, from the front desk, to the restaurant servers, beach servers and housekeeping who all do a fantastic job.
The water is not turquoise, the sand is not white but the food, ambience and people far make up for it.
The rooms are spacious, the AC works very well and the bed may not be the softest, but we both slept great! There are ample beach and pool chairs for everyone. The drinks (I had margaritas and pina coladas on the beach) the El Presidente beer, and the red wine I had with dinner were very tasty. We frequented the coffee corner i. The lobby several times a day because the coffee was excellent....we are both Tim Hortons coffee drinkers and would switch if Dominicana coffee was sold in Canada!
This is a great adult only resort and we would highly recommend!
Although you don't have to tip, and the staff never ask or expect it, they very much appreciate it. The daily wages in the DR are not great in comparison to the daily wages in Canada or the US, so 100 Dominican Pesos as a tip (about $2.30 CAD) means the world to the very hardworking employees at this resort.

Our stay at Bahia Principe Bouganville Luxury was overall enjoyable, but there were a few drawbacks worth noting.
The rooms were clean and well-maintained, though the furniture showed signs of age with scratches, paint repairs, and some loose hinges. The bathroom setup provides good privacy from the rest of the room. However, if you’re staying in buildings 52 or 54 facing the lobby, be prepared for significant noise in the evenings due to entertainment. The biggest issue with the rooms was the beds, which were extremely hard. When we asked staff for options to make them softer, we were told there were no alternatives available.
The beach was clean with well-maintained loungers, but there were no Bali beds. The ocean water is dark in color due to a nearby river, so if you’re expecting clear blue waters, this may be disappointing.
The à la carte restaurants were generally good, with the exception of the Mediterranean restaurant, where we were served stale chips with hummus, and the entrees were mostly rice with sauce. The buffet was good for a buffet. However, between meal times, there were very limited snack options, and we noticed many guests purchasing snacks from the lobby store.
The staff was overall friendly, but there was a noticeable push to upsell things like lobster dinners and real estate. The entertainment team was great, but they persistently asked guests to leave a Google review and would stand by until it was completed. In one case, our travel companions received a phone call in their room questioning why they left a three-star review, which was concerning.
The grounds were well maintained but clearly aging, with multiple layers of paint covering wear and tear.
Smoking is allowed on room patios, in the pool area, on the beach, and in covered bar areas. If you do not like cigarette smoke, you may find it unpleasant to be in close proximity to people smoking in many of the shared public spaces.
The most desirable pool furniture is often reserved very early by guests placing personal items on chairs, sometimes as early as 6 AM. By 7 AM, seating with shade and spots near the quiet pool are frequently taken. Hotel staff will not intervene or remove items from reserved chairs. However, if you use a hotel pool towel to reserve a chair and someone removes it—and it cannot be located—you will be charged $10 per towel for a replacement.
Overall, while there were positive aspects, there were also areas that could be improved, particularly regarding the beds, guest experience, and pressure for reviews.
