Ocean Maya Royale

This was our 2nd time and enjoyed our holiday for the most. We loved the entertainment team, especially Moises, he is a real leader! The others were very friendly. The a la carte restaurants were very good. The buffet could use some improvement, need more staff in the cook centre. Too may empty dishes and lineups at the omelett bar area. Some evenings fir dinner the choices were few protiens and empty trays. Pools are very nice and clean, ocean beautiful and warm. We got our beach or pool chairs around 730am to get shade. Room was very comfortable, great bed and shower. Property is small and very well taken care of. Loved this property but need to improve the buffet...has so much potential!!

Great resort. Everyone was super friendly, its beautiful and clean and for an all exclusive, the food was really good. Even the buffet was good. We had the privilege package and I thought it was worth it. We also got a free upgrade from the regular privilege room to the honeymoon suite with butler. The butler service was amazing. I might be spoiled for future trips. The bar is open until midnight, then we party at the sports bar which is open all night. The beach was hit or miss. Some windy days with terrible seaweed , could not swim. Other days the water was pretty nice. No water shoes needed. The pool water was probably not heated but warm enough to stay in for long period of time without getting cold. Now the not so good. The night shows were boring. Luckily there are pool tables and ping pong right next door. We like a good party pool, this one was a disappointment. The games were short, some not on time or missing. Also while the entertainers were nice and fun, they didn't seem to understand how to keep the energy up in the pool. The music was terrible and often quiet. The night life is very tame, like 8 older folks dancing at 10pm and calling it a night. The best party night was when we snuck next door to their beach party. That was a blast. Finally. The best staff there was Jorge the bartender. He understood the assignment. Funny, high energy and capable of coming up with great drinks depending on our mood and request. Overall we had an amazing time and would do the trip again. But if you are looking for a party resort, this isn't it.

Fabulous adults-only resort with truly amazing service. Every member of staff works incredibly hard to make you feel comfortable and happy at all times. We stayed for 16 days, and throughout our stay the service was excellent. Our room was always clean, tidy, and well maintained. The all-inclusive package is really good. Alcoholic drinks are excellent, and you can tell the bartenders exactly how you like your drinks, they will happily prepare them to your preference. Tip: bring a big mug, as they will gladly fill it with your favorite drink. The Hacienda restaurant, where breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served, was consistently amazing. The staff always served with a smile and were extremely helpful. Special mentions: Lisbeth: Hacienda Restaurant She truly went above and beyond. When I mentioned it was my husband’s birthday, she organized the staff to sing Happy Birthday and even called him Panchito, which was such a lovely and thoughtful touch. My husband was very impressed and happy. Dolce Vita Restaurant David: our main waiter, provided amazing service. We are fussy eaters, and he made sure all our meals were prepared exactly as requested—this is what I call top service. Grecia: gave us a wonderful welcome and kindly allowed us to sit at the table we wanted. Carlos: was also lovely; his happy and friendly attitude when bringing the bread made us smile every time. Anna: Coffee Shop Always happy and welcoming. She made me my delicious almond milk latte every day, and my husband’s latte always came with a little heart on top 😁. Such a sweet detail that made our mornings special. Pool Bar Team: Miguel, Eber, and the crew Absolutely fantastic team. From the first day, Miguel asked my name and remembered it throughout our stay, along with exactly how I like my drinks. The whole team works extremely hard and made me feel genuinely happy and welcome. We also visited Isla Mujeres. The beach is beautiful, but it is very crowded. We were very happy to stay in the Riviera Maya, which is much quieter and still has beautiful beaches. One of my biggest concerns was seaweed, as it is an issue affecting many beaches in Mexico. The resort does an amazing job cleaning the beach every day and continuously throughout the day, which makes a huge difference. Cons: The only downside is the high cost of taxis. A one-way trip to 5th Avenue (around 7 miles / 15 minutes) costs approximately 500 Mexican pesos. I highly recommend renting a car instead, the roads are good and very easy to drive. We rented a car at the hotel for 1,600 Mexican pesos per day. Overall, an unforgettable stay with outstanding service. We would happily return and highly recommend this resort.

This hotel is absolutely wonderful! It starts at the door with Angel and Jorge. Then goes in to our butler Juan. The bar staff Octavio, Jorge, Tiger, Jojo. Anna in the coffee shop. Eber, Joni, Miguel, Diego, Francisco. The entertainment team Cheeky Baby, Moses, Susi and the others. The rooms are beautiful and clean. The resort is clean. The food is good. We absolutely love it here.

My Wife and I just returned from 9 days at Ocean Maya Royale! We loved everything about this resort! From our arrival to the day we left we enjoyed every minute! The staff are amazing and do their best to make sure that people enjoy their stay. The food was excellent in the specialty restaurants as well as the Buffet! We had unbelievable service from our server Carlos in the Buffet who made our dinners so enjoyable! The rooms were very nice and the bed and pillows were extremely comfortable! We enjoyed our stay so much that we are already making plans to return! We highly recommend Ocean Maya Royale for a very relaxing and enjoyable Mexican vacation!

I was part of a large group and we all had nothing but outstanding things to say about our Ocean Maya Royale stay. We hope to come back to Ocean Maya Royale in the future!!!

I’ve been to this resort about 4 times. The activities are fun, the food is truly amazing. I chalk that up to the small size. I love that everything is around a 10-20min walk. I just got married and I must say, we continue to come back because every staff member from the spa, front desk and everyone in between is so IMMACULATE and kind. I really wanted to get married on my anniversary in February and unfortunately where I live is very cold and there isn’t a lot of options. I had what can only be considered the best wedding ever! As the bride, being able to confidently say that I had the absolutely most stress free, relaxing and beautiful day of my life is an understatement. If you’re looking for a resort with a plethora of things for adults from downtime activities to fun parties and immaculate entertainment I simply can not recommend Ocean Maya Royale more. I just want to say also an ultimate thank you to the entertainment staff as well. One of my previous roles was director of flights for a travel company. So to say I am very particular and do ALOT of research before I put my trust in where I’m staying is an understatement. Putting that trust into my wedding day was only made possible by all of the beautiful people and locals I’ve gotten the honour to meet so many times. Nearly a perfect stay at a wonderful resort. Our room, the grounds, the staff, and the food was outstanding! The bonus of the free-roaming wildlife was so much fun. Only two small negatives: while our mini-bar was restocked daily with beverages, we never saw a snack in our mini-bar during our 5 day/4 night stay; and the daily reserving of beach/pool chairs by other guests (which is in violation of resort policy) was annoying. We booked a snorkeling experience from the Resort and have to give a huge shoutout to our guide Alex!

You'll absolutely end up wanting to come back like we have. We came with a large group and every person (all 34 people) have nothing but great things to say. This was our 4th trip here in a row and we will absolutely be back again. We just git married here and having the resort be just as excited as us was a memorable experience. The place has become our home away from home. Don't miss out on the foam party! We will be back OMR!!!

This was our third visit to Ocean Maya Royale. Every time has been amazing, but the thing that impressed us most is that the resort somehow always finds a way to improve. The food has gone from good, to great. The atmosphere too. There are minor changes each time we come that will keep us coming back for the foreseeable future. Above all else, the staff truly stand out. We’ve always done the privilege package which, among other things, gives access to a private beach and private lounge. Jesus, the beach butler had perfect timing and was usually bringing us drinks at the same time we were finishing our last ones. He was also hilarious and helped me improve my Spanish. Ilsa, Carolina, and Esperanza in the privilege lounge were also fantastic. They were super attentive and had our orders memorized in a few days. We also booked a romantic, waterfall-side dinner that was worth the small extra cost. Carlos and Octavio took amazing care of us and were on top of our every need. Jose the beach butler is super funny and has lots of good stories (he’s also willing to help out with towels or anything else you need). Yookoso, the Japanese restaurant, really stands out. Angel the chef put on a great show and Bryan the server made sure our glasses were never empty. Don’t forget to try the sushi part of the restaurant too. It’s usually less busy, the sushi was great, and Mary, our server was so friendly and attentive. Another benefit of the privilege package is access to a personal butler. Ours was David and he took amazing care of us. With access to WhatsApp, we could message him (or one of his colleagues) at any hour and he had answers or solutions for us within minutes. We used the butler service less on our previous visits, but this time, David helped us with something nearly every day. Finally, we booked massages too. The privilege package allows for special pricing so we did a couples massage with Lupe and Maisal (I might’ve spelled her name wrong). We both nearly fell asleep on the table we were so relaxed. Again, it was worth the price. All told, this was yet another amazing trip and we can’t wait to come back again soon.

Location was great, beach was so clean and without seaweed. Atmosphere was balanced and catered for all. Had a sea view room which was lovely, room size was huge as was the bathroom. Very clean and the attention to detail to amenities in the room was appreciated. There are 2 pools, the smaller pool I would class as the lively one where poolside activities took place and the larger pool was the quietest. Ate at the Mexican, Italian, Japanese restaurants. The main buffet restaurant had plenty to offer for all for breakfast lunch and dinner. The SPA was very nice, went for the couples massages and this did not disappoint. I wanted give a special thanks to all the staff, especially Tiger on the reception bar, Luis and Manuel on the Sports Bar. Loved the cocktails, service and hospitality. We will definitely be booking again for next January!

We spent a happy 4 days at OMR which was supposed to be 5 except for a flight cancellation:( Once we finally got to the resort though things went fairly smoothly. There was no line at check in or check out which was nice. We had a room very close to the quiet pool. The room smelled badly of sewer the first night but reported it to the front desk and it must've been fixed b/c it was fine after that. Our frig also quit working and the maintenance team was quick to change out the frig. It was restocked all except for one day with 4 pops, 2 beers, and 4 waters. I would suggest to bring a night light for the bathroom since the door is frosted but opaque so the light is very bright in the room at night if you turn it on while your spouse is sleeping. Also the light on the air conditioner unit over the bed was an extremely bright white light indicating the temp setting:( I covered it with a maxi pad but the resort should cover it with X-ray film or something similar to cut the brightness in the room at night. The settings are on the remote, so I'm not even sure why it needs to be on the unit. The bed was lightweight so there was lots of movement with turning, but it was firm and comfortable. I LOVE that we had 6 pillows plus an extra in the closet with a blanket. We both slept well and for the most part it was quiet at night. However, if you like to sleep in late, there is noise in the morning with maids moving furniture upstairs. Perhaps if you don't have a first floor room it wouldn't be an issue? The showers had lots of pressure and hot water. Shampoo, body wash, and lotion provided. Nice TP too. There was also a clothes steamer, small coffee pot, robe, slippers, and umbrella in the room. Thankfully we didn't need the umbrella. The weather was mostly in the 70's and breezy which was a nice change for us. No bugs either! I would suggest bringing your own clock if you want one b/c there isn't one in the room. The balcony's are nice for 'people watching', which can be histerical, especially in the evening when people are leaving the pool area:) You'll also see many critters roaming around which are cute. Bring your own air freshners for the bathroom and some scent discs for the bedrooms to combat the mangrove smells. Bring thermal drinking cups for the pool. The bartenders will fill them for you and they stay cold much longer. Those bartenders are busy at the pool! You can also bring you own thermal coffee mugs for morning coffee to go. We never got coffee at Mikes b/c we just drink regular ole' black coffee. However, we did snag a custard filled pastry there and it was delish! We went to the Blue Moon on our first day since we got there shortly before dinner time. The beef filet and creme' brule were awesome. There was no waiting for us to get in, although I noticed more lines later on in the week. We ate breakfast at the buffet which was good with many choices. I just wish they would have had a self serve coffee machine. Although they did fill my themos with coffee when we left the buffet. We ate at the buffet one night for dinner which was good but not nearly as good as Blue Moon. The other 2 nights we ended up eating at the Sports Bar which was also very good. The spinach dip was awesome! A big shout out to our friend Marcello who always greeted us with a smile! As reported, the towels on the chairs to save them was out of hand. There was one day we couldn't even get a set of chairs by the beach. The pool loungers usually fill up first, but at least there wasn't an issue getting fresh towels. We were not 'previlege' guests b/c for us it wouldn't be worth it. We are beer drinkers and they basically have keg beer which was fine with us. We didn't feel like second class citizens. We tipped the maids, bartenders, and servers. It wasn't expected and not many people do but we felt it was the right thing to do. I also gave candy treats to grounds workers and anyone working there b/c they do a great job. The wristbands were handy. No forgetting your room key:) We booked the snorkeling excursion at the hotel which was pricy for what it was. It was $160 for both of us to do a 45 minute snorkeling excursion. Only one other person went and Evan was our guide. He was great! There was a very short boat ride to the reef right in front of the resort. We saw a huge sting ray, puffer fish, parrot fish, blue Nemo fish, large schools of fish, and lots of various other fish. We love to snorkel so it was worth the money for us. The water was way warmer than the air, which we were grateful for. I could have stayed out there much longer and wish that would've been an option. If you don't want to be bothered by timeshare people, unplug your room phone. They called before 9am on the first day:( The maid will plug it back in, so keep checking if you don't want to be bothered. Tip: IF you book through a travel agent and use a company like AmStar, make sure you check your papers before you leave the hotel so that you know which airline terminal you need to be dropped off at. Don't take their word for it! We had Global X/ TUI, which was confusing b/c they have a European TUI at a different terminal. Scammers at the airport will try and charge you $80 to take you to the next terminal. Don't do it! They will drop to $20 if you really need a fast ride, but If you get into that situation go find your AmStar or other service and they should make it right. This happened to many people at the airport, so be aware of exactly where you need to go and save yourself some moeny and stress.
