This is a beautiful resort with a thoughtful design. There are so many positives that out weighed the few negatives. The check in was quick and easy. They do not ask for a credit card to hold cause everything is pay as you go. You can’t charge food or drinks to the room. The concierge Stacy led us on a tour which included a spiritual cleansing ceremony and then a short tour of the grounds. When we arrived at our room we were amazed at the beauty and uniqueness of the room. We booked a sky view villa which faces the ocean and our room was a top floor room. There are a few stairs to climb and the path from the resort entrance to the room is tricky with the unusual round wood logs used for the path. We got used to it. This room does have air conditioning, a shower and two electric light switches. The rest of the lighting at night is candlelight which you must light unless you ask the concierge to have that done for you. We loved the unusual stone tub and rainfall shower that uses natural cenote water. There isn’t a dedicated space to have your suitcase and the place for hanging clothes had 2 hangers and maybe would hold 5-7 garmets anyway. The view was amazing and the sunrise is beautiful. The small toilet area is in the room in a large wooden enclosure. There’s not much privacy. The rooms around you can very easily see into part of each others rooms but the bed area is not seen. We did have a broken board on the deck and the guys fixed it immediately. There isn’t a front desk to call if you have a problem, you have to message your concierge. The complimentary breakfast is very limited! They do have an amazing menu if you wanted to pay . The beach area is small and the covered beds fill quickly as they also allow outside guests in with day passes. The food and drinks at the beach are good. Again I don’t like having to pay each and every time I get something to eat or drink at a resort. My wife visited the spa and loved the Azulik signature treatment. Had to pay for that right then too. The nightly party on tue rooftop is a fun experience the first time and afterwards it got old with so many outside people coming in and the loud music and multiple blowing of the conch shell was tiresome.I understand this is likely a money maker and draws people to their resort. Overall this is a great experience and you have to know the openness of the rooms and the little amenities that they don’t have of your used to a modern resort. We really loved it and would come back.

Azulik was amazing experience from the time we checked until the moment we left. The staff was who was excellent and our room was incredible. We stayed in the sea dweller suite and the upgrade was totally worth it. The views from the balcony and the private pool were bucket list worthy. We tried three restaurants on site and all were excellent and some of the best food we ate in Tulum. The rooms were fully air-conditioned and seemed to be carved out of the jungle canopy. It was truly a unique and wonderful experience. Highly recommended! Just book it and get the best room you can. We will be back soon.

Azulik is visually stunning. The property is unlike anything we’ve ever experienced and photos truly do not do it justice. From the architecture to the setting, it feels otherworldly and special. If you’re looking for a quiet, serene stay, this place delivers. The indoor and outdoor tubs were a standout. They were beautiful, thoughtfully designed, and genuinely added to the sense of relaxation. Using them felt like part of the experience, not an afterthought. That said, there are some real gaps between the vision and the execution. Azulik promotes a digital detox, but the restaurants rely entirely on QR code menus. You’re required to bring your phone, which pulls you right out of the experience. I asked for a printed menu and was told none were available. That felt misaligned with the brand. Navigation around the property could be much better. The grounds are expansive and beautiful, but there are very few directional signs. We often found ourselves wandering or second guessing where things were. The beach setup was another surprise. There were no umbrellas, which makes it tough if you’re trying to avoid direct sun. The cabanas were not always available, and even when you did get one, sunlight still came through the roof. For anyone sun-sensitive, that’s something to consider. Our room had a serious safety concern. The door lock for room 10 requires a key to lock the door or even keep it closed, even from the inside. I had to lock my wife in when I stepped out briefly while she napped. If she needed to leave the room, she wouldn’t have been able to. That should be addressed immediately, just do what you did with the handle for room 12. The rooftop bar didn’t have enough tables or seating, especially during peak times. Service was inconsistent. On a few occasions, staff told us tipping could not be added to a credit card, which simply isn’t true. Another time, we were seated for drinks and hookah, waited over 15 minutes with no one checking on us, and eventually left without a single acknowledgment. On the positive side, Stacy, our concierge, was outstanding. She was responsive, thoughtful, and proactive with recommendations and reservations. She genuinely elevated our stay and was one of the highlights of the experience. The spa was excellent. The massage experience from start to finish was relaxing and well done. The hotel and restaurants felt quite empty during our stay. We personally enjoyed the calm, but if you’re looking for a lively, social atmosphere, this is not that kind of resort. Food and drinks on property are expensive, more than you might expect, but the quality is strong and felt worth it to us. There are also several great, more affordable local spots within walking distance. Highly recommend going across the street to La Milpa. Fantastic outdoor bar, large menu, great energy. Honestly, it’s the kind of place that would be amazing to have on the property. Try the grasshoppers, they’re delicious. One last note: the conch shell gets blown a lot. Some people may love it, others may find it disruptive. It depends on your tolerance for ambient noise. Overall, Azulik is a breathtaking and memorable place with incredible potential. With better attention to guest flow, safety, and service consistency, it could truly match the magic of its setting. One very specific call out is that the hotel is not recommend for anyone with any type of mobility issues. There are no elevators, the walkways are very uneven and there are a lot of stairs.
